Can rangers do good enough to partake in them? If so with which builds.

When you look at the spots that you can place your stats there are a total of 5 lines. You would put 30 in the fist, 25 in the second, ect ect. What is also helpful is when they tell you what traits to take in the 10 20 and 30 slots of each line. Like 30 (I)(vii)(xii)/25(iii)(viii)/0/0/15(ii). So in the firs line you put a total of 30 point taking trait 1 after 10 points trait 7 after 20 and trait 12 at 30 points.

Looking for someone in game willing to instruct me a bit more on the engi class. I am loving it but I want to get in to some wvw with it and it is daunting.

Hello, I am looking to run engineer with my guild. We Gzerg often 20-25 people and there is some gvg 15 composition. I do solo roam a little here and there, but manily the first two. Any good builds I should know about?

I am looking to try and understand the current meta dungeon Guardian. I am looking for links to the build and the gear set. I under full zerkers. Runes? Sigils? Traits/utilities/weapons ect. Looking to understand what I should be doing. I run the dungeons on other toons, I just Pug a lot and find the lack of a guardian really hampers some of the runs I do. They are doable, but would be easier with a meta dungeon Guardian.

Going to make a warrior what racial abilities work out best and why?

I have found if I am trying to kill another ranger in water and I can not do enough to down them before the pet rez is going to take over I save all my CD’s and just kill them again. Then if I need to, I do it once more and they just die.

I would be that ranger you gave them to, and I love em. I am using the LB/GS Zerkers/Valkerie. I can hit for 12k with LB#2 and Maul for around the same, on lvl 80 targets in wvw. Much higher on under. Also, thanks a lot to ilr, really helped me out a ton!

I would like to try the Huge crit build, but the investment is so massive. It takes me a week to get enough gold to buy the runes and weapons to try all these new builds. I am liking my condi build for dungeons but guild likes to do small number Wvw and I would like to be crit nuking people in the back row. Seems like that might be entertaining. What do you think I should go for stats runes ect?

As a new Ranger myself I will have to speak up on this. The direction he gave you there is a good one, it is not a great one. Just taking a quick peek in there I notice the most recent post is 2+ months old. There have been game changes in that time. I really hope someone can help this guy out with more current information then, go to a page that hasn’t been updated in 2+ month’s. I am interested in responses from players on how to build your ranger for the different aspects of this game, and how to build it with the most current patch in mind. What gear to be going for, where to get it. What builds to be going for. What piece of gear gets the most stat. Trait Synergy, and anything else that could help.

Ok so about half way through page two I got tired of the trolling mesmer. Just so you know the traps they are putting in are not for the thief counters, they are for chain veils from mesmers. Think about it…

What I find funny is you are posting a thieves forum asking for other classes to chime in. Why don’t you replicate your post in every other forum and then you will get the answers you are looking for?

There is also an option in the general options to turn off the auto correction on left mouse click combat viewing. So that when you use the left click to look behind you and let go you remain looking behind you. This is useful for targeting creatures or players behind you so you can, for example, use staff skill 2 to leap away from them. You of course would then need to use the left click to adjust your view to the front again after this. You see Osi use this a lot in his videos for movement.

This video mad me sad. It was good to see such an honest game play video, but it was poor game play. Either way I do thank you for posting it.

Maybe something like The Guarded

I run a high toughness tanky type Thief. Usually I have a heavy or two in my pve groups that can take threat from me AFTER I stealth. This is no longer an option. Now I have to be more creative in tanking, kiting and moving more. A lot more annoying for the group that now needs to chase mobs more. Tank switching was viable with stealth dropping aggro, now it is not.
Also, now that downed skill 3 is pretty much useless will we get a new one?

If all you want to do is Level in WvWvW I would run with SB to start with, stay in a zerg and camp flip tower take as much as possible. As you get your lvls up your utilities will be more usefull. It will help if you let us know what lvl you are now so we can think of builds around that. My first suggestion is if you are lvl 2 go SB and only zerg.

My Guild often runs small 5 man teams trying to steal towers or in some cases garrisons, using this inside the walls will be BRILLIANT. I now plan to pick up a pistol just to do this. Thank you very much for the post.

Adaneshade.2409 has a great guide for S/D. I am following it almost to the letter and it is fantastic for wvw for my play style, I suggest you look up their posts and review it.

I have 3100+ toughness on my thief run S/D +SB and have no issues in any of the dungeons, sometimes I have to face tank, sometimes I can get away with attacking from behind, it’s all about how you are specced and geared. I got all of my gear except legs from Karma and legs were from AC. Anyone can spec and gear for any situation. What you choose to do affects yourself. Have fun enjoy the game.

I’m not sure where you are getting the highest DPS from. have you added a DPS meter to the game that we can all use to see this Highest DPS. If so I would love to have access to it. Could you possibly compare the thieves DPS coming out of stealth to that of a shatter built mesmer that has all clones active uses the sword skill to port and root you as he blows up all clones and hits his invul sword two skill while you are rooted and take obsence amounts of damage?

It seems to be there are people who can not fight thieves tat are using the culling to try and get a nerf through on the thieves. There are MANY MANY videos of players killing thieves that have “Perma” stealth, just because you can not does not mean that thieves as a whole need a nerf.

From a new 80 thief to those leveling, try everything. I know it’s not much of a guide per se, but until you get to 60 you should be testing all the weapons out until you find something that you are comfortable with. The Dagger dagger Death blossom with caltrops is good for ae damage. While sword pistol in the blind field will work for melee fights using the blind area to just stand and tank. For myself when I finally got to 60 I just did WvW zerg fights to lvl, it got me good karma and fast exp. If you can find a ghank group to tag along with in WvW the exp flows in, but if your server is capping towers hop on that train asap. Once 80 I have been back in PVE farming gear in Orr with Karma vendors. Just some things to get you going.

I’m playing a S/D set up at 80 that is able to stand in and melee large groups of mobs. Able to heal when I hit and heal when I stealth as well as baze targets to take less damage, bounce iin and out of melee to regen, which I do when I stealth as well. Seems somewhat tanky to me. I usually melee champs in Orr with out to many difficulties and mobs that retaliate don’t do enough that my healing can’t counter. So yes you can make a build to stand in there.

I’m betting sword dagger. Dagger he can stealth off of C&D when he has enough initiave for it and sword attack 1 would just keep doing damage. He could easily cloak every 4 – 10 seconds, ever 3 seconds really if he just waits on the cloak debuff to go away. And they can be tanky as well and just stay in and regen from attacking as well as from stealth. Would be a long fight with no big burst but a good time I’m sure.

I really think you need to place the fault here where it belongs, your magnet ability does not work. Thieves don’t need another nerf. Yes HS can be used multiple times, Initiative is not limitless and they will run out.

I did dagger storm Vs a mesmer and ranger, the mesmer has the greatsword equiped and I didn’t deflect a single blast from it, and they were well away from me, so is the greatsword on mesmer not considered ranged, even though it says in the skill description does more amage the further away you are from your opponent, seems ranged to me.

I’ll give this a try tonight in wvw for fun.

Like the title says, wondering on a good WvW support skill setup. I see the need for portal and Time warp. What other good traits as well as a good skill set up would you consider needed for fully supporting the zerg.

Mass invis you can cast on a group running in to combat. Shadow refuge to get the full duration your group would need to stop and group up in the refuge to get the buff for the full time. A mobile group invis seems superior to me. You can not target a small house and AE the mesmer group invis.
