With the new update making recipes account-bound I’ve fallen in love with this QoL change. It got me to thinking that if I could spend 3000 gems on some cool animated gathering tools and have them on all of my characters I’d actually be willing to spill the money. By account-bound gathering tools I mean that they’d be used on every character you have, rather than just the one you receive the mail on and trading it to other characters through the bank. Having to either waste dozens of gold on in-game Lvl80 tools that break in 100/50 uses or 2400 gems on the unbreakable standard gem store versions is annoying.
I know it would decrease sales for ArenaNet to do so, but I’d think that making the gathering tools account-bound would inspire more people to actually buy them.
Grenth – we already have the grenth hood
I don’t really see how having one small section of a potential outfit can stop us from receiving the whole thing. It seems kinda silly to give us Balthazar, Dwayna, Lyssa and potentially Melandru and Kormir’s outfits just to stop with Grenth and say “oh well the hood’s already in the game and currently unobtainable, so.”
Okay Arena Net. You’ve done it. You’ve made me cry.
I was not expecting Druid to be as good as it is.
You’ve combined several features from many of my favourite games and concepts into my favourite class and made, without a doubt, the best elite specialization of Heart of Thorns.
I can’t believe how amazing it is, please just let me marry the team that worked on Druid. I will kiss their feet and I HATE feet. I need to show my appreciation and love for this ;O;
I wonder if Sylvari can produce energy on their own like normal plants or do they need to eat.
That’s also already been stated. I believe on the official GW2 website it says something along the lines of “a Sylvari can sit in a field and soak up sunlight, but rather than satiating their hunger and thirst it simply gives them more energy. They still need to eat and drink like the other races.” Of course, I’m paraphrasing, but that’s definitely been said before.
What colours are you using, OP?
I believe on Tenigren I was running Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Shadow Red and Seafoam.
I’ve found that combo of dyes is great for making Mordremvari <3
Although the default colour scheme of the outfit is meh at best, try dyeing it and it looks gorgeous.
Here it is on my mesmer http://imgur.com/a/NeTXh
Obviously it looks better on Sylvari, but it’s sorta…y’know…Mordremoth related?
“The Harbinger of Mordremoth outfit, for when you want to be an antagonist!"
(Thank you for the outfit ANET, it makes Tenigren look cute af)
Picture this:
You’re sat in the Grove with a smile on your face after just receiving your Royal Guard outfit. Sure, you may not love it, but it’s something nice the developers just gave you. So after an hour dyeing it a few different times and running around testing it out, you decide to sit at the bank trying new armour combinations because this game is Fashion Wars 2, when to your surprise you get a mail out of nowhere. You open it, and it’s…another Royal Guard outfit?
Whoops. Silly ANet, you so silly.
“The Cycle of Night birthed her from the branches; a young, naive soul by the name of Nyx. So taken was she with the wonders of the world that she travelled the lands for pure curiosity. One would always see her by the seaside cliffs at night, her signature pine leaf glow acting as a lantern as she danced and skipped.
Full of life, full of potential, full of love.
When Amiris first met her dear, she was unaware of their future together. She and Rachiela were destined to be. They fell in love, and travelled together underneath the night sky.
At least, until their maker awoken.
Amiris’ naivety was her downfall. It started with incurable headaches and bitterness, followed by the discolouring of her skin.
“But what made us realise she was gone was her last walk along the cliff side.
“With the moon acting as her spotlight, the pine leaf glow of her silhouette shifted to a dark crimson, and as she opened her eyes…
All that was left of Amiris Nyx disappeared."
After turning to the dragon, Amiris picked up a great blade and cursed it with her new-found evil intentions. As Rachiela mourned over the loss of her love, said love aimed the blade at her head, and struck.
I love torturing my characters
3.) Speaking of the Nightmare Court, where is Faolain?
I believe in my theory after watching the announcement trailer at the end of LWS2. The physical evidence of Sylvari turning to “Mordremvari” is represented with their eyes turning red. You see Faolain in the trailer with red eyes whilst she’s spearing someone in the chest. I then looked up Faolain’s original eye colour and they were normally lilac/purple, so I personally believe she’s going to be corrupted or already has been.
scarvesssssssssssssssssssss
YEEEEEEEES
Seeing as the current likely wedding couple is going to be Kasmeer and Marjory…which one of them is going to wear the male outfit?
Both of them can wear the dress. They’re both women, after all, there isn’t a male in the relationship.
playing a Sylvari main, loved the race from day one so….
#meangreenkillingmachine, #treepridetyriawide
We’re literally vegetarian anime characters tbh.
I, too, am prepared for all of my salad children to attack and destroy the dragon.
Except Amiris and Vat. They’re corrupted. Praise Mordremoth.
(alt-aholics laugh evilly from the character select screen)
MY CHILDREN, MUAHAHAHA
- “Rise!”: This skill is now unblockable and instant cast. Damage increased. Now creates a shambling horror for each foe hit which lose health every second. These minions place Dark Bond on their master when they hit with attacks which causes 50% of the damage from attacks on the master to be redirected to the minion.
(sniff)…YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS
Just a few notes on my opinion on the beta so far, which is thankfully very positive
Firstly, gliding. I didn’t expect this mechanic to run so smoothly, it’s amazing. The first thing I did when I unlocked it was go to the first waypoint in Verdant Brink and leap off the cliff, and it felt so natural, like a normal response. I can’t wait till in the future to unlock advanced gliding to see how velocity affects it. Basically, I love it. Props to Arena Net.
Next, mushrooms. I was never that interested in the Itzel mastery track as they’re…y’know, mushrooms. But after unlocking the second track in gliding I moved on to Itzel to unlock the ‘shrooms, and I was pleasantly surprised. I originally thought the ’shrooms would be glitchy like the lightning zephyrite crystal animations, but it’s actually really fun to shoot up in the air. However, I hope that they give us the ability to glide when you start falling, which isn’t available right now. So if the bounce glitches, you’ll fall to your death regardless of unlocking gliding or not. Whoops. Overall, I definitely suggest unlocking the bouncing mushrooms after basic gliding.
The enemy AI is definitely a strong point of the beta in my opinion. I’ve seen people complaining that they’re too hard, but they aren’t hard per say, just challenging. You can’t activate a lava font and adk while auto-attacking these guys, you need to pay attention, which is great! My only complaint about the Mordrem Courtiers (Nightmare Court much) are the snipers, because holy hell they are powerful. I might just be a noob around them due to not seeing them often and missing clear animations that they’re gonna do that weird thrasher-like underground vine thing, but still, they are hard. Still love them though.
The map itself is by far one of the most gorgeous maps in the game, on par with Southsun Cove. I absolutely adore the verticality and complexity of the map, just how big is this thing?! Jesus Christ, the 25% of Verdant Brink we can explore is nearly the same size as the Silverwastes, it’s ridiculous. And then with the supposed 3 biomes per map? Arena Net, you sexy kittens.
The first story instance we enter in the game is amazing, but I might just be saying that because I’m a lore nerd. When I first walked into the instance, I kinda sorta slightly forgot that the PC speaks, and you should’ve seen my face.
Actual representation: 8O
I almost started crying. I haven’t heard my characters’ voices in so long, and now they’re ordering people around? I didn’t expect the character speaking to have a very big impact, but dude, it changes the game. I’ve never felt more immersed in the game than I am in this beta, it’s fantastic. Even out of the instance, the PC speaks at certain points. It’s absolutely glorious.
And don’t get me started on how the Sylvari story is different form non-Sylvari.
YOU CAN HEAR THE BLOODY DRAGON.
Now for the elite specs. I’ve never been much of a fan of Necromancer, and the same applies to Reaper. However, I definitely like the elite shout and the Reaper’s Shroud. The greatsword itself doesn’t really fit my playstyle, and neither do most of the shouts, so I didn’t play much of it. Sorry about that Necros :c
I was originally hyped for Tempest despite the community’s negative response, but after playing it for a while I kind of understand where they were coming from. I tend to run the Burning build on ele and even with warhorn, I still do the same thing. The biggest impact the Tempest has that I can see is extra burns from Fire Overload and the break bar from Earth Overload which I use to run away. Maybe it’s because I’m not playing supportive, but still, not my favourite part of the beta.
Writing this now I realise I completely forgot to test out Dragonhunter, so I can’t provide much information. However, I have heard from several people I was playing with that the longbow is rather lacking in the damage department and you’re rooted in place for the animation? Can’t legitimise it, but that’s what I’ve heard.
The Chronomancer is without a doubt my favourite of the elite specializations in the beta, and I don’t even play mesmer. The shield is amazing with it’s dual-block phantasm summon and the shield 5 is sooo much fun to use! Almost every well is super impactful on the bigger battles, and Continuum Shift is super fun. I’m surprised it’s duration is so short (1 3/4 of a second) although I understand it from the balancing perspective and how unfair it would be in PvP to spam all of your skills…twice.
I think that covers everything I have to give feedback on so far, so adios o/
In my opinion I think the animation is cute. It’s like she’s skipping forward
Don’t think I need a spoiler alert for the end of Living World Season 2 here, but just in case: Spoilers ahead!
My original idea on the Nightmare Court during the events of HoT was that they would form their own faction against the Mordrem in a way, but after looking at the trailer at the end of Living World Season 2 I think something entirely different.
One of my favourite things to mention about that trailer is the part where Faolain stabs someone through the chest with a spear and holds them in the air, but after looking a little closer, I was kind of disturbed.
I might be completely wrong here, but I’m sure Faolain’s eyes in Twilight Arbor and in Caithe’s memories are purple/lilac.
In the trailer, they’re red. Every single Sylvari that was corrupted by Mordremoth in the trailer was identified by having red eyes. If we assume Caithe isn’t corrupted and truly is on our side, she and Canach are two examples of non-corrupted, both possessing normal eyes.
Does that mean Faolain and her Nightmare Courtiers fell to Mordremoth? If so, then what if Caithe sees her ex-lover as a corrupted version of her former self?
I had some ideas on what it result in, but honestly I just wanna see what you think of it.
I also had another idea.
We know now that Sylvari were originally created to be the jungle dragon’s minions, but were spared to due being created by the Pale Tree who was taught peace by Ventari. These teachings caused the Dream to emerge, where the Pale Tree could protect the Sylvari from bad influence, unless they cut themselves off from her.
The Soundless and the Nightmare Court aren’t protected by their mother through the Dream, and are therefore far more susceptible to Mordremoth’s corruption. Faolain and the Court would do anything to corrupt the Dream, so I believe they’ll have a very important role in the story of Heart of Thorns.
In the Living World Season 2 ending cutscene, it shows Faolain spear someone through the chest and hold them in the air like a flag. The inclusion of it being Faolain is too random to be considered a coincidence. She and the Court must hold some importance in the story.
Who knows? The Court might even willingly join the dragon’s forces, just to wreck more havoc.
I’ve thought for a very long time about the storyline we’ll be getting in Heart of Thorns, involving elite specializations and the new class, Revenant. I’d like to explain a few of the ideas I’ve had, and back up other people’s theories.
Firstly, I am a believer of the “Eir will die” theory, but I also believe something else similar to it. The first connection I made was that Braham would likely inherit his ranger mother’s longbow, after finding it discarded alongside an unsettled Garm, with Eir nowhere in sight. However, I thought of this as the perfect chance for Kasmeer’s possible Chronomancer abilities to emerge. We’ve seen several times that Kasmeer possesses mesmer abilities beyond that of player-mesmers, being capable of opening and holding several portals and summoning several illusions at once. She’s also shown to love her friends and help them in every way possible.
I had originally thought that Eir’s body could be found dead, leaving Braham to mourn and pick up her bow. This would spark Kasmeer’s new-found abilities, where she opens a portal through time to where she was still alive.
This idea I then realised contradicted the idea of Braham being a Dragonhunter, as he’d be unable to take his mother’s weapon if she still used it. It would cause a paradox in the timeline. Then it hit me.
Marjory.
Marjory has already lost her sister, and she is likely to be the first true Reaper due to taking up her sister’s greatsword. What if she pushed too far? We already know she’s still injured from the fight with Scarlet, as shown by her heavy breathing at varying intervals. Kasmeer wouldn’t be able to cope with the idea of her likely-future wife dying, so she’d open the route to the past to save her. Where in the past? A few minutes before, to stop her from pushing? Or…on the Breachmaker?
That would, of course, open a whole sequence of doors where the story can go, but the other thing I want to talk about is Rytlock.
Playing through the second season of the Living World, we witness Rytlock dive into a portal to the Mists chasing after Sohothin, only to emerge in early Heart of Thorns story as the first Revenant.
Several people have discussed and hypothesised why Rytlock could be wearing a blindfold, saying he may actually be blind or he’s just channelling power easier.
In my opinion, I believe he may be blind.
Why? There may be something in the Mists that are proof of the Elder Dragons’ power.
The Six Human Gods of Tyria.
We’ve seen in lore that when mere humans gaze upon the Gods, they lose their sight. If Rytlock truly is blind, having seen the Gods in the Mists is a far-fetched but plausible theory.
But then, why are the Gods in the Mists anyway? Surely they aren’t having an apple disco with Tybalt in Stonemist Castle’s basement. Why are they there?
“We have remained strong despite the silence of the Six Gods."
They may be silenced for a reason. Perhaps, the Six haven’t abandoned you. Perhaps they met a worse fate.
We’ve seen a god die before, Abaddon in GW1.
I believe the Gods were killed by the dragons, and reside in the Mists. Whilst Rytlock was searching for Sohothin, he came across them, weakened and slain. Blinded by their brilliance even in death, he emerged from the Mists with the grim news that the humans weren’t abandoned, their saviours were murdered by the biggest threat the world has ever known.
What do you think?
I definitely think these outfits will look amazing with the corresponding elite specializations we’ll get in HoT. I mean, the Grenth outfit is perfect for Reaper, and I personally feel the Lyssa outfit is perfect for Chronomancer.
Personally I’m obsessed with Lyssa’s and Melandru’s Regalia, they’re so pretty <3
I just reeeeally want a Sylvari dress reminiscent of The Avatar of the Pale Tree’s dress. That angel rose robe is gorgeous.
Yesterday I was goofing off on the Guild Wars 1 wiki taking in all of the lore again when I came across the page of the Old Human Gods. I immediately took notice of this oddly familiar image!
Notice that? The Dervish forms of Dwayna and Balthazar are 100% identical to the respective outfits we’ve been getting on the gem store! So it’s likely we’ll be getting these outfits too.
As an extra bit of info, we’ve already seen ANet have a habit of keeping things chronological, with the sequence of Elite Specialisation reveals and the order of professions on the official GW2 website. Sooo, is it likely the same situation applies to this sequence of Gods on the GW1 wiki? It goes in the order of Balthazar, Dwayna, Grenth, Lyssa, Melandru, Abbaddon, Dhuum and finishing with “Goddess of Truth,” our dear Kormir. So far, it’s kept in order. If we ignore the fallen gods Abbaddon and Dhuum, we’re left with the current Six Human Gods of Tyria, but who knows? Maybe we’ll get Abbaddon and Dhuum outfits, as their pages on the wiki also show their assumed appearance.
Is it safe to say the next God outfit we get, if we get one, will be Grenth’s? Tell me what you think! ^.^
