Shadow Assault is awesome. It evades while you channel and does a LOT damage to your target, it’s pretty great for underwater encounters. It’s even better when you have control and the sharks are on your side. I love it!
Portals are TOO GOOD, and it’s more of a problem than just the bundle in Khylo. Portals offer unprecedented map control without the need to physically move to the point once the exit is down. Portals are just as good, if not better, on Foefire and Niflhel, than they are on Khylo.
Even if kits are nerfed going through portals, at the end of the day, tPvP is reliant on point and map control. Mesmers will STILL be the #1 pick for any tPvP team because of the team mobility power of portals.
My suggestion is to make portal exits attackable and destroyable objects.
A blog post in the next week would be duly appreciated. Dwindling users is expected, there is a lot of competition that came out in the past two weeks: Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2, and the WoW expansion. People are bidding their time playing these new releases, getting a change of pace. Grinding straight to rank 30 or 40 in a month sounds quite maddening to me, to tell the truth.
I think a major frustration here is that a lot of people see lots of potential for competitive PvP and we want answers NOW NOW NOW. It takes time to gather the correct information and prepare to release it at a strategic time.
I play a roamer for my tPvP team. I’ve chosen traits to help raise the % damage as high as I can get it, while choosing utility skills that help my survivability. I don’t have the Haste utility in this build – I get it by way of the Sigil and Trait. Even if the quickness procs on one of the last hits, I still get a hasted stomp. I have Infiltrator’s Strike/Return, but the amount of times Shadowstep has gotten me out of a sticky situation are uncountable.
Because of my frailty, I prefer to do a mongoose dance with auto attacks and Infiltrator’s Strike until an opportunity for Pistol Whip presents itself. I have Sigil of Bloodlust on my Shortbow – if there is a sure kill and I don’t need to Black Powder stomp, I pull out the Shortbow and secure some additional power.
Agree that Portal -> Treb Repair is OP. And Pistol Whip’s stun should probably be changed to a cripple or a daze. Everything else on that list is an L2P issue.
The stun on Pistol Whip is 0.5 seconds. By the time the damage starts coming, you can move again (unless quickness). Replacing the stun with a cripple would be an amazing buff.

I’ve gotten Elder Wood Logs from salvaging a few of my unwanted PvP items. Is this intended? I’d rather get PvP materials from my salvages instead of these PvE materials.

If you have that many mesmers, why are you bringing thieves? Thieves are overabundant in hot join, but don’t let that allow you to overestimate their usefulness in tournaments. It looks like you’re trying to build a really lame team, so skip the thieves and double down with bunker guardians. You have plenty of killing power with the mesmers.
Two bunkers, two glass cannon roamers, and a mesmer.
1. Mesmer, Guardian
2. Thief
3. Warrior, Ranger, Necromancer, Engineer
4. Elementalist
Agreed, Elementalists need an interrupt for their 2, or their 2 and 3 need to be swapped.
You can use Black Powder to perform an uninterrupted stomp on anyone that is not a thief or mesmer. It pulses blind, which makes their interrupt miss. It also helps with butt pats on your friends that are in down state and have melee hitting them. Black Powder is also your bread and butter for soloing Keep Lords and the Chieftain/Svanir.
