Sorry to hijack your thread op but as some one who is looking at rev to main like yourself, for most aspects for the game, I prefer to stick to one character and only once yes it limits me. are my thoughts wrong? Is a rev a cross between a thief with its fast agile attacks and a warrior who can take more damage?

So, I decided to go thief, Now I pre ordered the new expansion but I refuse to use the boost since I need to learn the game and what’s going on. Thanks for the help btw.

What’s good crafting profs to take? what’s useful and what’s stupidly expensive that’s not useful for anything? I know that rafting can help with lvls and such so am I better ignoring it?

Sorry for the questions well no I’m not I just want to know things and be good

Hi,
I’m coming back to the game after a while and I’m wanting to focus my attention onto one character.
Ranger
I like the idea of ranger, the range the bows, the whole pew pew never been a fan of the pets I always found them clunky and more of a liability in most games. Are they good for most aspects of gw2? I’m no hard core raider but id like to explore and do the content without too much hassle
Thief
Thief ah the thief, always played the rogue, the sneaky character the quick agile killer. always been drawn to them but I fear that it might be hard to learn, even worse they might be so squishy that I cant do content easily or struggle with it a lot.
Engineer
Seems interesting but the amount of kits? scares me. Having to juggle them and know what to use when sounds complicated
Revenant
From what I’ve read they are a mix of thief and warrior? do they lose anything? are they decent in the game? I cant say I know much about them at all but they look interesting.

Normally I like a good mix of range and melee not having to worry too much if the enemy get too close or runs form you that I have to chase them down and agro other mobs,I love the idea of the skirmisher that starts out at range harassing the foes and as they get closer striking with their melee weapons as the need arises.

If anyone can help or suggest anything else that might work? Or even if they have anything they can tell me about the classes ones that I’ve listed something to help me go yes that one.
I’m not asking for people to pick one heck if I don’t know how I anyone else meant to pick for me? I’m just after information that I can use to make a more informed decision, since the class forums aren’t that helpful I found

Which light armor class

I love the looks of light armour and really into casters atm , which is the easier one to learn and master, one that can become a main and not struggle in pve, and wvw?
I don’t want ops or fotm or anything like that just want to know which is easier to learn and become good at.
P.s I have never got a character to max lvl and seen the end content I want to be able to do so with a character that can manage solo story content reasonably easy

End game character first time

So I’ve gotten my Mesmer to 80 and started on the track to chronomaster but I’m finding it really squishy and hard to play ,I found the problem the same with daredevil.i struggled a lot with he end game character .So really I’m looking that’s easier to play and good to learn with especially at end game,

I was tempted to try one of the plate classes but also the engineer ,are any of those good for a first time play at 80? I’m not a newb but only just ever got a character to 80

I guess I should say that I normally prefer melee over ranged, but i’m not against using ranged weapons for times I need to hit things from a distance, I dislike the greatsword and the hammer with a passion,
I wan tto play mainly pve, open world, and dungeons raids eventually, but wouldn’t mind taking part in wvw such as eotm

Warrior or ranger

Thanks all. I’m going to take ranger with longbow as main and the great sword as secondary since I know I need to have some melee , and its best to learn as I go.

Thank you for all the help

Normally I go melee with healing in games, But I find in pvp I like the ranged style since if I can keep them as far away form me the better. Not over keen on the looks of heavy armour , but tbh I haven’t seen much of it only the chain stuff mainly

I know I’ve asked before and I listened to advice but I tried the classes, and all.
Now I’ve worked out I want to go either ranger or warrior mainly for the ranged ,I know I cant stay in range all the time, But which is more useful, more versatile?

What’s more wanted in dungeons?

is one easier to learn than the other?

Thanks, I’ll try it. I tried revenant over the weekend and although its a interesting class , the heavy armour look and feel didn’t sit well with me, so I’m still looking , I’ve taken to looking not just at the class but a the armour as well since looks are important to me.
thanks all

So after trying mesmer, and finding it strange, I realised it wasn’t for me, same with engie, I’m not a big fan of the heavy armour styles, For some reason I always see them as stand there and take hits, (blame other games for that preconception)
Now in other games I tend to go for either the shady types, or the ones that can do pretty much everything, supporting , ranged and melee. you know the type really versatile ones. I’m not looking a the elite skills of each class as if I cant get them to the point I can unlock it its a waste of time. I am a fan of pvp , will mainly wvw rather than arenas, But I would also like to be able to do pve as well ,I know all classes can do both but some are easier for certain things than others, at least I think so . if anyone has any suggestions? of what I should try and see if tis a fit for me I’d really appreciate it

Hi,
I haven’t played in at least a year if not more and I’m looking t coming back to the game ,I never got a high lvl character I could never stick to one, but I want to try once more and try again , what’s a good class to learn ?
In most mmos I’m the melee dps or healer. I tend to prefer fast attacking types , I know that there are no healers or tanks but I’m used to thinking in those terms

Any advice would be received gratefully

I like good stories, engaging content to the point you can almost get lost in it ,I enjoy pve mostly but pvp some times nothing to serious. I don’t mind chasing achievements’ or a grind if there is some goal to it . but mostly I feel it the community that a big factor in my enjoyment ,some games it can make or break it ,

Had this game for nearly two years now, and never really got in it was always swapping classes never settling at all so I never got to the end stuff ever. I figured I’d see about coming back but from what I’ve read on these forums they have all changed a lot,
If I did come back would it be best to start fresh? I never got a class higher than mid 20s ,Playing certain other game I’ve always preferred the ranged role, with the chance to heal thrown in, but they have to look well good, not talking the skimpy stuff but the nice looks.
Is lvling different now? are there still the champ trains for a quick boost? are there things I should know of?
I know some of these questions seem like they are very open and depends on how I want to play but any information is good information
thank you

finally settled on a profession I like the guardian yay(only took me a year) really loving the sword torch combo, totally unsure on what off weapon to use but that’s meh , been looking at skills and everything and I hardly see anyone use spirit weapons ,

Are they bad for pve? looked down on in dungeons ect? Don’t want to put all I have into making something around skills that are going to be a pain in the kitten .

I have tired to use the search function but couldn’t find anything on them, maybe its me ,perhaps there is thousands of threads about them if there are I am sorry for repeating the question

Guard or necro

took me long enough to get my choices down to these two well engineer was an outsider but that’s something else,
what are the pro and cons of each compared to each other?
Kinda like more of the light armour looks than I do the heavy stuff but I want to be good in pve, and do well in wvw mostly zergs,

oh and do elites make much difference in things? for some reason I feel elites should be strong not some weak kitten skill that you wouldn’t use much at all or that is a pain to use.
I know I could do both but I want one to main ,having never gotten over lvl 30 its annoying not to anyone else just to me .I just never seem happy with characters atm

thanks

I’ve tried a warrior and found while good dame they are a little how shall I say it boring after a while , even though I enjoyed the weapons the 789 slot skills didn’t call to me at all.
I tried ele and I liked the fast pace of dagger/dagger but well after not getting a good handle on when to swap elements I was dying a lot even when switching my weapons around to staff

I’ve been trying to find the perfect character prof to play and never seem happy with may of my choices. This has made me leave a few times never getting a character high up nothing over 20.

I’m not sure if others have this issue them themselves or it is just me ,maybe it is me? darn it may just be the race prof combos I try
But what I look for in a class is

Mix of ranged and melee (being able to mix it up on the fly is fun why shoot a bow at point blank range when I can stab you in the eyes?)

bringing some use to groups (used to playing healers on other mmo’s, I know no trinity here)

Fast attacks that look fluid.(slow and clunky are not me)

armours that look good but I guess that’s personal taste

Looking for something that is good in pve, ok in dungeons if I ever get there and ok for the odd wvwvw

Well that’s it really, and since I don’t want to just go meh and leave it ,I come to you good people.
