Season 2 Trouble at Fort Salma

I was about to post something about this. Did the story earlier, no issues. Went back to get the 2 achievements (Butterflies and Viscera / Sheltered from the Rain) and encountered this issue. Have restarted it like 10 times, doing it all using different tactics (arrowcart, melee, killing myself mid fight, killing everything on the map even though the Mordrem on the wall respawn after a few seconds) and still nothing. Hopefully it gets fix. Seems to be an issue with the mordrem amount needed to fill up the bar. 1-2 are missing for it to complete or the 1-2 are not counting as kills for it to advance. Thought it could have also been a issue with Kasmeer clones but I doubt it. Since when you jump and melee them, she doesn’t spawn them.

I also wanted to add that I’ve done this quest before, too. But that was years ago, after the mission was initially released. I didn’t encounter this issue then, so it seems like it’s a recent glitch, for some reason. And like I said, I can’t find any other information about this glitch anywhere, so— again— it seems like a new glitch for an old mission, which is odd.

I just encountered the same issue. I’ve tried running this same mission twice. I get to the arrow cart, I kill all visible enemies, and I’m stuck at the last little bit of the progress bar. I even ran around the entire mission zone, both times, to see if there’s an enemy “stuck” somewhere.

I wish there was more information on this glitch. All I can read online is about the arrow cart’s range, but nothing about this glitch in particular.

Make the Aegis used BEFORE Shield of Wrath?

That has been demanded since approximately day 1 of GW2. Maybe even earlier, don’t remember the beta weekends that much anymore. You can see how far we’ve got …

Oh, I didn’t know that. Is there any explanation for why nothing’s changed?

Make the Aegis used BEFORE Shield of Wrath?

I currently use Greatsword and Scepter/Focus combination. I also use the Unscathed Contender trait in the Virtues line.

Unscathed Contender gives +20% damage while under the effects of Aegis. I figured that it’d go perfectly with the Focus skill called Shield of Wrath, which blocks the next three attacks. So, in other words, your Aegis (which gives you +20% damage) would be “protected” for an additional three hits.

The only problem is that Aegis is used BEFORE Shield of Wrath’s blocks. Is there anyway this can be changed to make Unscathed Contender/Shield of Wrath be more viable?

My GW2 Account Doesn't Show GW1?

Another example is in the Overview tab of My Account. Beneath GW2 HoT, it says “active.” But under GW1, it says “buy now.”

In the Game Content tab of My Account, again, beneath GW2 HoT, it says “visit site.” But under GW1, it says “purchase.”

I’ve already purchased GW1 and all the expansions— more than half a decade ago (7-8 years, I believe).

Hello,

I’ve recently returned to GW2 after a long break. When I downloaded the GW2 client from the My Account section of the website, it listed my GW1/GW2 status (whether I bought the games and linked the accounts). It clearly stated that I had purchased GW2, but it didn’t say that for GW1. In fact, it only gave me the option to purchase GW1, as though I hadn’t already purchased it.

This is very confusing because I have the GW1 discs, I’ve played GW1 extensively, and I even linked my GW1 and GW2 accounts together for the Hall of Monuments rewards. But My Account doesn’t seem to indicate any of this is true?

Thanks for your time and input,

Finisher Application?

Would love to get some input from a moderator. I confirmed what Asuaka said— the finisher selection/application process works correctly on all of my characters BUT my main (which is, of course, the only one that really matters). Insight? Help? … Attention?

Hi!

Ever since the finisher tab was changed in the September Feature Pack, I cannot keep a permanent finisher selected.

As of now, I have three finishers. 1) The default, 2) bunny rank, and 3) the sanctified finisher.

However, whenever I click on the sanctified finisher, it only previews it. If I click and drag the sanctified icon into the slot, it only stays there as long as the hero window is open. If I close the hero window, or log out, it will return to the default finisher.

I hope this isn’t something small and benign that I’m missing (that’d be embarrassing!), but my guildmates have assured me that something is not working properly.

Thanks for your time,

Hi! I don’t create forum posts too often so you’ll have to forgive me if mine is a bit addled.

At any rate, I only have two suggestions for dungeons.

1) New Player Advertisements. When college quarters begin, I entirely leave GW2. After I return during my breaks, I love catching up on all the new changes. However, I no longer remember how to complete most dungeons. It’d be great if there was a category in the LFG tab where players, who are new to XYZ dungeon, can post.

2) Kicking. I’m sure there are numerous other posts that cover this, but my lack of fresh knowledge in dungeons makes me a ripe target for kicking after 30 to 40 minutes. Sometimes, it occurs moments before a boss. It’d be really helpful if there was a mechanic installed that required a majority vote to kick (at least 3 of the 5 members), and provided punishments for those who frivolously or wantonly did so.

Cheers,

Mount Debate

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Emkorora.8217

Emkorora.8217

Hi. I may be a bit too late to provide some input, but I’ve been pondering the concepts of mounts in GW2 for a while.

My background for MMOs includes RuneScape and Guild Wars 1. I also played Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim— never tried World of Warcraft though.

I think mounts— as long as they are not fly-able and still force the driver to intercept mobs— are a great idea! They can be very stylish and introduce new bosses or activities.

Anyways, that’s just my input. I think the concept of mounts would need to be tested and debated more thoroughly before applying it to the game itself, but it’s still worth considering!

EDITED: After reviewing some of the replies, I just want to add— Dolyaks were COMMONLY ridden and whomever says differently has clearly never played GW1. The Stone Summit healers and menders would ride on those cutie cows.

Same issue here too… For about 2-4 hours it has not been appearing (the gem store page).

P.S., it seems as though this event happened immediately after the TP was under maintenance, working on another problem. It’d be nice if we could find solutions for other peoples’ dilemmas without the other half of the community taking the fall.

What is up with Living Story?

Agreed, I never saw them assure us that it was solely about the dragons. I’d love to see an expansion about the Mursaat— visitng the Isles of Janthir— or Elona and the undead there.

The dragons are a ruling force in Tyria right now and I respect that, and so they should be included a great deal in most content.

I don’t mean the classic ragequit, but when I play a game (particularly an MMO, because they do have content added and do not remain stagnate like other video game genres) I expect to play it for a while, perhaps take a break, but have a memorable journey lasting a considerable amount of time.

With school, I disappear when a term starts (and when going through Summer term, too…) and by that time the expansion alternative, “Living World”, has disappeared and all the heroism too.

If I do not see any expansion— a FULL expansion with dungeons, maps, races, professions, weapons, enemies, storylines, heroes, NPCs, bosses, etc.— I probably will quit. I don’t want to invest time into a game that simply remains in the same place.

And although Living World progresses Tyria’s story 5 steps forward, removing it later or disabling the majority of the released content sometime afterwards, takes it 5 steps backwards.

I recognize that holiday events are exactly like this: temporary. But they’re meant to be and expected to be. I don’t want to celebrate Christmas all year or the Dragon Festival for 10 months.

But these are my thoughts. Expansions, with the magnitude I described, develop and enhance the game because they are permanent and I can return or abandon them at any point I wish. Which follows Anet’s “no subscription fee” policy: stopping or continuing as you desire.

Living World, thus far with Flame/Frost, SAB, Aetherized Pirates, Queen’s Jubilee feels childish, temporary and leaves the entire game feeling stagnate and unmoving. My shortbow’s range might have changed since the original release, or a new skin and boss might be added, but I am still just fighting Dredge, exploring AC, and slaying the same Zhaitan with the same Trahearne.

Blocking versus Reporting?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Emkorora.8217

Emkorora.8217

As I’ve explained, blocking/reporting both fulfill the same purpose excluding those specific instances where ignoring a person does not solve the problem (exploits, hacking, RWT, etc.)

So, again, why have both? Both bring greater risks and less revenue, whereas having one will promote three, separate, interests for both the guests themselves and company itself.

Blocking versus Reporting?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Emkorora.8217

Emkorora.8217

Here comes the two parts of the discussion. Guild Wars 2 is a product, and ArenaNet is a company. Much like any other company, their goal is to sell the product. As someone who has been in the restaurant industry for many, many years we all know that the product itself is half the battle: service is the other half. So the other, unsaid, half of their goal is to please their customer (guest). Obviously, turning a loyal guest away by poor attention or negligent consideration is unwise. So how can they cater to the desires of the offender and the offended?

Secondly, as an answer to the previous paragraph: disallow reporting for all but a few, select, reasons (hacking, exploiting, bugs, etc.) and let blocking solve the issue. In real life, a court would tell an offended person “get over it and you are free to ignore the other person as you see fit (Lauren von-Lilequist, J.D. from Loyola and A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies from PCC).”

The goal here should be to allow the freedoms of each party while respecting the wishes of each. Blocking allows this efficiently and perfectly through a function where one person can fulfill their own wishes: ignore/block who they want for whatever reason they desire, while the other person has none of their freedoms infringed upon and both get to enjoy the game harmoniously.

Not only would this allow a simultaneous bolster of choice, but it brings two other purposes, too. It will save a considerable amount of Guild War 2 staff’s team by not having to mediate so many tickets concerning petty differences, but they would keep both costumers (guests) and appeal to the interests of both. Which, for you, my fellow Tyrians, means: more time and money for them to develop content.

Blocking versus Reporting?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Emkorora.8217

Emkorora.8217

The final result of reporting someone versus the block list. What does reporting do? It submits a notice to ArenaNet that the reported person has done some action (whether it be verbal or otherwise) that is questionable as an offense of their rules of conduct/policies. In my experience with the original Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, it begins simply from one person finding something else someone did as offensive. From there, the ArenaNet team evaluates it and takes disciplinary action or not.

Do note that after reviewing both the suspension and naming policies, as well as the rules of conduct, there are (naturally, due to list of possibilities) vague rules that cover almost any form of conduct and name.

The disciplinary action ArenaNet takes reflects the offense itself (i.e., if a name was offensive the name is required to be changed). Thus, solving the original issue: one person finding something else someone did as offensive.

Blocking is (thankfully) far more simple of a process. If you dislike the actions of someone else you can (by all realistic, virtual, senses) eliminate them from your existence through a process called blocking.

So now, for the comparison. They both reach relatively the same goal: fixing what someone did that was against the rules or offended you. And from my review of the rules, offending someone covers a large portion of the rules itself, so they are one-of-the-same. One of the few differences between reporting and blocking is that reporting does bring the attention to ArenaNet, and for situations like abusing an exploit or “cheating”, this is perfect. The last difference I’d like to point out is that reporting takes a great deal of time on ArenaNet’s part to evaluate, whereas blocking is within the sole discretion of a person and requires no lengthy process of analysis.

Hello my fellow Tyrians!
I have an idea to propose to you all. After some debate with the Guild Wars 2 staff, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is a lot of mess involved in any disciplinary action against an account, regardless of the company or game. My idea does not change the support process, nor the appeal one, but the blocking/reporting features. Why have both? Except for very circumstantial times, do they not both fulfill the same goal?

I am relatively new to the forums, but I can see most of you (or a sizable sum) disagreeing with this and providing the rebuttal that most other MMOs have both features and that they are both a necessity.

That said, let’s compare two things and then discuss two more aspects of this.

I appreciate the input and advice, however. I’ve double-checked what the message says when I attempt to log in, to confirm what BlueStocking said, I’ve contemplated what Mercury had to say about why I may have received a 72-hour ban instead of a “first-chance grace” and I, as you suggested, submitted a ticket.

Thanks for all the input! I appreciate it.

I’m really waiting for a GM to review this post. I appreciate any advice you all can give me, but of course all we can do is speculate rather than give solid information.

Regardless, what happened was:

I was kicked off the game (no warning message, no mention of which character, why I was kicked, or when I’d be back on). I immediately tried to log back in, and saw a “Your GW2 account has been suspended for use an unacceptable name … Access will be restored in approximately 72 hour(s).”

It’s been almost 24 hours later and the message is still there: blocking me from entering the game and changing my name.

And again, this has never happened before and I have never received any disciplinary action from any member of the GW2 staff.

If you have not yet, you should submit a ticket to Customer Support. This is, most likely, the response you will get from anyone seeing your post. That will be the quickest way to get answers. Good luck. =)

Already done. This post on the forums was done solely for the purpose of addressing the separate issue. Unless I receive evidence otherwise, I have no memory nor reason to believe I have been given the “first-chance grace” as other people have, nor have I received any explanation of why I am suspended for 72 hours rather than given a “first-chance grace.”

So, in essence, I am trying to get a speedy reply from an official GW2 representative to address this situation, since, at face-value and with the only information I have been allowed, since I am suspended for 3 days when the links I have provided say I should not have been at all.

In my extensive experience, too, the support staff take 1-2 days to reply to tickets, regardless of their nature. If I was wrongfully suspended I, for obvious reasons, want it to be remedied immediately.

NOTE: This is not debating the issue of the ticket, which was inquiries as to the unacceptable name, this is to find information regarding the suspension policies at the GW2 staff, as opposed to the ones shown in the links, and why (or why not) they have (or have not) been applied here.

Sorry, in all of my reading on the forums I forgot to mention one of the defining parts:

I have NEVER had to change my name or received a previous warning, suspension, or any sort of intervention from the GW2 staff or support regarding an unacceptable act, name, or purchase.

EDIT: Although I have been known to have a bad memory, so if a GW2 staff member can help me recall that’d be appreciated. Regardless, this is my first time suspended or being asked to change my name in GW2.

You’re only supposed to get the 72 hour suspension if you’ve already had a name violation, so if you have not previously had this issue you’re right to submit a ticket. You are supposed to be able to log back in the first time immediately after renaming the offending character – and you should get a notice on the character in question saying it needs to be renamed when you try to log in with it.

Wow that was an awkward sentence, I need more coffee.

Most people suspended for an inappropriate name know exactly why. There have occasionally been names blocked in error, or names that were genuinely confusing. If you really don’t know, support can help you.

Hello! About 12 hours ago I was suspended for 72 hours for an unacceptable name.

I’ve submitted a ticket to support, but after doing some research I’ve found some information that makes me want to understand the suspension policies and question my own suspension.

I do not want to copy/paste my support ticket here, simply that my account received a 72-hour suspension at about 6PM on September 8th, 2013, PST for an unacceptable name.

After reading the forums a lot (by the way, this is my first forum post, yay!) I want to copy/paste some website links here regarding other situations of suspension and/or use of unacceptable character names where the person in question received no suspension or they received a warning or specific reason why the were suspended (specific name, reason, etc.).

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Unacceptable-name

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/72-hour-ban-for-name-without-warning

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/account/Account-suspended-with-no-warning

I also want to mention that I have noticed that you are not supposed to submit a ticket then post on the forums-- but I considered these two issue separate: having an unacceptable name and finding information regarding the actual policies and treatment for suspension-> unacceptable name usage.

Thanks,
Emerson

Check my Mesmer Build? :)

I’m pretty to new to mesmer and I’d like to get all my ducks in a row. Here is the link to my planned build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNAR8dl4zipXUTjGb9IyJFQnzR6RplarWJFz2FC-jwxA0HYSUgSeFRjteWENW1Cm6kIq2fUEtaA-e

My desires:
Damage
Criticals
Effective heal and/or defensive alternative
Reliably high vitality
(not necessary, but wanted) use of clones
Use of GREATSWORD + SWORD/FOCUS

What I DON’T care about:
Conditions
Toughness
55%+ critical chance (40%+ minimum)

So there you have it. I tried to make a build reflecting those goals, please let me know what you think. I’ve mixed things about mantras— that they’re terrible, specifically the healing one, but amazing when traited correctly.

Also, the mantra of pain is situational— in WvW or other scenarios I might use portal entre. It’s just a “general” skill.

PS: Is my amount of power okay? Vitality? Precision? Critical damage? Also: at higher levels, are CLONES more of a distraction or genuine tank? I assume they are meant to distract and confuse— which is why I chose the trait where I create one each dodge.

Thanks
