I have this same issue as well. I used to play in a US guild so im on a US server. Now my hours dont make this easy (I live in the UK) so Im playing with an EU guild now. However I cat join any of them in their instances or do fractals with them. When I right click on a party member name I cant join them in the zone like I can with US people.

It’s definitely a bug.

I’ve been playing in US parties on a US server for ages (My account is EU). You can enter the instances with people on whatever server you transfer to (in my case US). However, every now and then an update seems to break it and it looks at your account server rather than transferred server so you can no longer play with anyone.

What do you mean by ‘transfer to’? You cant guest from EU to US, or vice versa, so I must assume it’s just the way you’re describing joining a party in a different server world?

I’d also like to know when I should and shouldn’t be able to ‘join player in x zone’ when right clicking on their name in the party list.

I have an EU account, but transferred to a NA server.

I can only see EU parties in the LFG tool and while I can join the party, I cannot enter the same instance (because I’m on a NA server). When trying to join the instance I get the ‘Network error’ message box. The specific issue is with Fractals, but I haven’t tried joining dungeon parties etc to see if they work.

Had this happen before at part of an update, it’s broken again – please fix the bug.

I dont know if this is a known limitation or if it’s intended or what. But My alternative is to stump up the 1800 gems to transfer to their server, which is a ripoff. I’m not one of these server hoppers looking to exploit. I have a genuine reason to move servers and at the moment it’s 2/3 the cost of the entire game!

Anyway all I really want is to be able to play in the same instance as my EU friends even though I’m on a US server world. Is that possible?

Damage reduction for Illusions in PvE

I would actually prefer it to be intentional that the Idefender only takes that 5% unless explicitly directly attacked. It would be an excellent deterant in all situations, forcing enemies to attack the idefender directly or contend with a 50% damage reduction.

Hell i’d accept a 30% damage reduction if they felt it was too overpowered this way.

Does this apply to ‘cleave’ affects as well? Would seem to trivialise some encounters if you could just send a bunch of phantasms in and only one of them ever take full damage.

You’re forgetting youcould trait for +30% crit against slowed enemies in chrono. Assuming you can actually slow raid bosses that affords you a lot more options.

Illusions drops the cooldown of continuum split.

There is no longer a trait that grants CDR to shatter skills – that has become baseline.


Mesmer never had just ONE build. There will be multiple builds ofc. You may need inspiration for reflect and support, domination and duelling for personal dps etc. Same goes for the weapons. There’s always a situation for any weapon in our kitten nal.

What bugs me the most is the lack of space for mantra of pain. Not sure if it’s worth to take it. For solo ofc, but in a pt you probably even abandon harmonious mantras.

Not technically true, there was a baseline reduction in recharge times. But if you choose the Illusion spec-line; The minor trait Master of Misdirection reduces shatter recharge by 15% (as well as increasing confusion duration by 33%)

I would much rather F5 not exist and it just replace one of the existing ones.

F5 is just too far down my keyboard to comfortably reach and even though i have a billion mouse buttons remapping is a pain in the kitten . I rarely use distortion anyhow, 4 seconds of distortion never seems worth it and the recharge is immense.

I use RFCXZ… any of the Function buttons are too out fo place for me. XD

I have E mapped to heal, R mapped to 6, C mapped to 7, X mapped to 8 and Q mapped to elite. 1234 and F1-4 is easily reachable without taking fingers off WASD. F5 is a stretch :P

I dont think i’m being unreasonable :P

I’m still not convinced alacrity will provide enough of a bonus to shatter cycles to counteract the loss of celerity and PoM, the 20% recharge on sword skills in dueling allows you to pop out a swordsman a few seconds after you shatter them too. 2 phantasms is a 4 second recharge reduction from PoM, 3 or 4 seconds of alacrity at 66% reduction doesn’t even come close to that. Alacrity is a global recharge bonus though, so you benefit from recharge on other skills. Its whether thats worth it. And it’s not clear so far how often you’ll have alacrity up, i need to do a lot more experimenting before i decide what to drop for chrono.

It’s sort of a hybrid build with a boat load of survivability, i use it mainly in PvP. My biggest achievement with this is the healing and support from the combination of harmonious mantras with restorative mantras and restorative illusions, i pretty much have a constant source of healing and condition removal.

it’s by no means a burst build, but i find those a tad boring anyway, they rely on a short cubset of skills on a rinse and repat cycle, i like my gameplay varied

Anyway to summarise why it’s awesome:

completing a mantra channel heals me and everyone around me for the same as a single use of mantra of recovery. So when i channel my MoR, healed straight away. If MoR is on cooldown, i can channel MoP for the same aoe heal. Plus the biggest advantage of mantra heals is you can use them any time as you’re not dazed or stunned. Knocked down? no problem, heal while you’re on your kitten . Hell if you have MoP ready you can also attack! Also menders purity means every time I heal or shatter I also lose 2 conditions as well as everyone around me.

For offense i rely on a cycle of mini-bursts: swordsman, illusionary leap, by this time i’ve probably blocked or evaded due to something like blurred frenzy, and actual dodge or aegis from signet, so i have phantasmal defender up to take any retaliation. but most of the time I shatter them with wrack for a decent burst; few seconds later my swordsman is recharged due to the combination of illusionist celerity, fencer finesse and persistence of memory and mind wrack is ready a second later so i can repeat the process with 2 illusions. With the added bonus of shatters healing me and every one around me, blinding everyone around me and removing conditions. I could throw in some MoP to this damage as well and the activating of all these mantras adds a nice damage bonus from harmonious mantras buff too.

It’s a really fun build, gives me lots to do and think about, very active extremely supportive. It’s not high damage, but i usually last much longer than most. I switch to scepter when i need to be at range and it’s a natural fit for kiting with the torment application and the double blocking from sc2 and sw 4.

So i’d love to switch in chrono somewhere as i prefer a more supportive role akin to GW1 mesmer, but If I drop even one of those lines (illusions, dualing, inspiration) the synergy is so tight it falls apart.

This is my favourite look so far, i usually spend ages messing with dyes and skins This is in prep for taking chronomancer in HoT; I especially love profane boots for a more in-your-face mesmer look
