Necromancer Greatsword. Want?

Hammer would be nice, I have to say there are too many greatsword users in the game currently. Every second person has a GS equipped, it’s starting to look a bit silly.

Plain old fun.

I’m glad, Necros were viewed as somewhat underpowered before, to the extent that even Necro players weren’t sure if they were making a difference.

It’s nice to see that Terrormancers add that bit of, ’I’m actually doing something noteworthy for my team – as a Necro.’

More Curse or more Soul Reaping?

Alright, thanks guys, I’ve gone 15/25/0/0/30, managed to maximise the damage without losing too much of anything else.

I’m a power dagger necro, my main damage is from when I crit. I also use my DS fairly often.
Given that I go to a fair amount of group events, what should I choose: 30/25/0/015 or 30/15/0/0/25

The first option I’d get 100 prec and cond dmg, as well as reaper’s precision and target the weak.

The second option, instead, I’d get extra 10% crit damage and 10% life pool, life force drain slower by 25% and 5% more dmg if > 50% life force.

I lose these if I choose the other.

I really don’t know which is better. If I’m alone the second is definitely better, if with a group the first is better (I think)

Which one should I choose and how much better is the first than the second when in a group?

Effectiveness is relative.
Sorry man, your build is a bit messy. Try to focus on something.

Spectral Armor is pitiful.

Overall I’m fine with it, other similar skills really do completely outclass it though.
If they added 6 second stability I believe that would truly make it balanced since it can be a passive.

Virtual economies and real world applications

Yes, we can.
If we take the comparison each item is a stock and each unit is a share, naturally, we’ve got a simplified economy – of course.
The main difference is that the real world economy simply has more variables to take into account, whereas a game such as GW2 has less of these variables.

Less variables means that players can use the market to their advantage for whatever means because signals can be more easily read.
Price movements that happen in game would happen similarly in reality. We can see the similarities in the way supply and demand works as well as inelastic goods.

Units, regardless of being in a game or in reality are treated the same.

We can observe in game how prices are affected by certain things, for example; lowered drop rates (reduced supply, price increases), new recipe using a certain material (demand increases, price increases), etc. I’ll call these variables.
Not only that, but we can observe to what extent certain variables affect the price. This can be used in real world economies, since real goods similar to the game item may be affected by those variables in a similar way.

Although the challenge would be to make the initial comparison between the two and link them. The variables would have to be similar. The more variables that are similar the stronger the connection and the more likely those items will behave and be treated similarly.

Another reason I believe so is because I’ve personally done the opposite, where I’ve used real world economies to help with my in game merchanting. Proving a link between the two at least.
In this case I was reading graphs and predicting patterns of the item just like I’d do to a stock. If done in game, I do believe you could even pick up on certain patterns you’ve never come across before simply because you’re working with a more simple instrument so signals are more obvious.
This could then change the way you treat and observe certain stocks in the real world.

After reading through
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/IMO-Farming-nerfs-are-killing-this-game/first
It seems that people are angry over DR.
And some people are against farming… In an MMO?

Farming is part of every game. The only realistic way to get a Legendary (without using gems) is to farm.

Why don’t they remove the DR and just lower drop rates in general? If done correct items can keep their price and the players don’t feel scummed out of their time. For rarer items this’ll also feel more rewarding.

Just like they did to Unid Dyes. That’s the correct way to handle it.

Personally I get annoyed with DR too and I do believe this is a better alternate to DR. If there are any problems with this alternate method let me know, because I don’t see any.

I’d really love to go into combat with town clothes on. Would be a nice experience.

Ahh, brilliant, thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. Gameplay feels messy without a goal lol.

So, I’ve randomly been playing GW2. On and off.
I’m mainly on my 80 Necro, but got a Thief 27.
I’m going for a power build which has a bit of crit and crit dmg.

I really don’t know what to do right now. I’ve got a magic find set and some random rare armour pieces here and there.
Any time I do log on I just sit at Karkas and then log off after about an hour or two.
Sometimes I go sPvP for a bit.

Everytime I try to go to Arah absolutely nothing goes right. Sometimes the instance isn’t even up, other times the people I’m with can’t clear it. This has caused me to give up on getting tokens since I’ve got no one reliable to do it with.

I just joined a guild to see if people would run stuff, but no one’s really online.

Is this just me? Or do other people randomly struggle like this? Everything feels so slow.

What should I do? While I wait for responses I’ma continue killing Karkas, yaaayyyy…

Idea: Remove DS, add LF skills.

Nahh, DS mechanic is fine as it is, it’s a more unique concept compared to just having 8 more abilities and also adds versatility to gameplay styles and builds.

I’ve found Condition better for PvE and Power better for PvP in general, although that’s debatable.
Although, I rock Power everywhere I go. It’s just more fun imo.

In all honesty, like Anchoku said, Necro can pull off a multitude of different builds and especially for Necro, I wouldn’t say that any one build shines above the rest.

Personally I recommend going for a Power based build, I find Condition builds a bit more auto-pilot.

1. Map Location: Sea of Sorrows, Southsun Shoals. Killing Young Karkas.
2. World (Server): Ring of Fire
3. 3pm GMT, 28th February. GMT Afternoons/Evenings in general, sometimes in the Mornings too.

As a side note, there are usually two people doing it together and usually a part of the same guild.
I’ve seen multiple duos of different guilds bot in this area. At first they seemed like people, but all the duos had similar moving patterns and followed the same route. (Even though the route doesn’t make sense. Eg. Karka spawns near you, but you run all the way to the other side to kill Karkas, instead of killing the ones around you currently.)
