BTW, have anyone elses crashing issues stabilized since last night’s (Jan 23rd) patch?
I’m testing right now.
Usually it happens right away so it’ll not be much since I report back

Ok,
Today I mounted the new PSU but no luck, the game was still crashing to desktop.
So I deceided to give in and format my pc to see if that would fix it.
And naturally… after a couple of hours to get things ready after the format…. Nothing happens: Still crashing as before.
Nice.

Essentially we all have the sam problem here…
See my post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Game-keeps-freezing-Need-Help/first#post1270907
As of now I’ve tried almost everything that comes to mind and everything anyone ever suggested on related topics. Nothing works, at least for me.
I’m going to switch PSU and in a couple of weeks I’ll change my GPU too, just to see if it is something hardware related.
It sucks. And an official statement SHOULD be done about this!
Endy.
Any ideas? This problem is kinda “mysterious”
I’m with you here man..
I’m actually replacing my gpu with another one of the same kind (another gtx 670) just to see if the problem is on my end.
Ok, that maybe is a bit overkill but who knows…
A little Red-painted reply would go a long way to ease us all…

I Had the same problems with crashing , some days it would go for hours then start crashing, then somedays it would crash every 5 minutes.
But everytime it has crashed on me, i have had headphones plugged in , Afterglow Wireless headset or my Logitech G35.
I havent had a crash since playing without headphones, which kinda sucks as i did use vent or team speak.
Well I just had the ol’ same crash Without any headset whatsover and without ts.
Obviously not logging ts fixed nothing.
Still “hoping” at this point that my GPU is faulty, otherwise I have no frigging clue on what is going on here…
Endy.
In any event: Even if that would “fix” my problem, it’d sux.
I play mmos with my guild and my friends, not just by myself, to be in TS is almost required for me to have fun in this kind of games…
I may try to play “without” my Headset, but I’d say it’s strange that that would be the problem, since my headset is not USB, it’s a 5.1 headset by Roccat (Kave) that behaves like a normal set of 5.1 speakers.
Could Teamspeaker be the problem?
What do you reckon?
I’ve now tried almost everything humanly possible…
Still crashing every now and then.
Sometimes I can play for as long as a full night, sometimes this crash happens every kitten minutes
Hey Fromhell,
I’ve got a similar problem with my GTX 670. During gameplay I usually monitor my card with MSI Afterburner and in a lot of occasions I see my gpu usage drop down and consequently my fps drops to around 30.
I’m struggling to understand if I have a faulty card or if I have some sort of driver problem since I also have a horrible crashing issue (see this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Game-keeps-freezing-Need-Help/first#post1234203 ), but seeing that I’m not the only one suffering from drops in GPU usage makes me feel that maybe there is a solution out there.
my game freezes and makes weird dubstep noise

Hey!
It seems you are suffering from an issue very similar to the one i describe here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Game-keeps-freezing-Need-Help/first#post1234203
Let’s join forces and try to find a solution!
Endy.
No hope then?
Could be.
I’ve upgraded to Win8 just this december and that is when this freeze became more common (as I have stated previously it only happened once in a while during dungeon runs).
The thing is though, that almost every guildmate of mine have switched to Win8 and nobody seems to have the same problem that I have.
I know, this could mean nothing… but still…
Thanks Squall!
the colours mentioned indicate a definite crashing of the graphics card prior to the freeze, you might start with uninstalling 310.90 and going back to 310.70, or 306.97(which work better with this game anyway)
Already Tested with both of those: Crash still happening.
It’s a benchmark to stress test your graphic card.)..
Unfortunately, furmark won’t demonstrate a weak gpu as it is throttled (the shaders that is) by the display driver to keep the TDP low, where as games use rops, memory controller and more of the geometry domains of the hardware as well as shaders, and are not so explicitly throttled.
Uh! Didn’t know that..
Care to suggest something else to test the card with? Just to know if it’s the card defective or something else.
I’ve been playing Far Cry 3 with lots of technical isssues (almost every bug and glitch reported in the official forum), but never had a freeze like the ones I have with gw2.
Is there something else that you think I might try?
I really, really like this game and my rig is fairly new, it sucks to be stuck in this kind of limbo.
Thanks!
Edit: To add to the specs posted above:
I’m running Windows 8 64bit
and my router is a Netgear DGN2200.
Usually I have Teamspeak 3 running in the background, can’t tell for sure if the crash happened “without” TS running.. I Use it “almost” all the time.

Hey there,
since the last couple of months I’ve had this problem, it used to come up only inside isnstances, for whatever reason, but now it keeps poping up every now and then totally random. Sometimes I can play for hours without a freeze and sometimes the game freezes over and over again after a couple of minutes of play.
Let me try to explain the actual freeze/crash to you:
My screen goes all black, or light green, or light pink and freezes that way with the sound looping. Sometimes, if I’m lucky and quick enough to mash ctrl+alt+del I might be able to go to the desktop and kill the process getting back to a fully operational desktop, but most of the time my only option is to reset my pc and start over.
There is no error shown whatsoever, not by the game, nor by windows.
It is getting extra frustrating and I have no idea what to do.
Since this problem seems similar to the “black screen” issue reported in te sticky (though I’m not sure I’ve got the exact same problem since my screen also freezes red, light pink and such) I’ve tried to fiddle with solutions posted for that particular problem, but so far with no luck whatsoever.
Things I’ve tried that gave no result:
1) Update to the latest drivers
2) Clean install of the latest drivers
3) Rollback 3 differents sets of previous drivers
4) Clean install for each one of those
5) Disable MSI Afterburner (which I usually keep up to monitor temps and fan speed of my gpu)
6) Disable all program running in background (Logitech g510 software included)
7) Fiddle a bit with graphics settings in the game (Admittedly not too much, since my rig runs this game ok)
8) Disable SPI on my router
9) DMZ’ed this computer on the same router.
10) Got scared and bought a new PSU for my computer (since mine is fairly old) thinking that maybe the problem is on my end (Not yet received the new unit, but I doubt this will fix this)
11) Unplug almost all USB peripherals while running the game.
Now what?
Could this be a faulty piece of hardware on my end? Could be, but the “only” game that does this kind of problem is GW2 and my GPU just passed a Furmark test of half a hour without a second glance (for those who don’t know what that is: It’s a benchmark to stress test your graphic card.)..
I’m absolutely out of ideas.
Any and all help would be apreciated.

I like this build a lot and it is very similar to what I was trying to put toghether for myself.
One thing that seems odd though (to me at least): Is it viable even if it doesn’t have any precision whatsoever?
I always thoght that in order to dish out dmg with dagger you had to rely on crits…

Very very good.
Now it’ll just be another bug to correct. No worries, since you guys are very quick doing bug fixes.

At least they havn’t started level increase yet lol. We just need to rememebr that it is an armour level:
White, Blue, Green, Yellow (Rare), Exotic, Infused and legendary.
Look on the bright side it appears that it will not change after this. How can it?
It won’t stop changing until they run out of colors.
Uh-oh.
They’ll probably stick with the ole websafe colours.

Why does Anet hate mesmers so much? Lol
Mesmer hate generation is bound to the number of annoying lttle kittens the class spawn every fraction of a second.
Therefore the math should be like this:
Dev hate toward class = N x (Mesmer x Annoying little kittens).

As it stands now it’s more like TvT
as for Train versus Train.
Pretty much what I always expected from Railroad Tychoon pvp.

Thoughts on ascended gear: Lame and lazy.
Thoughts on the balancing patch (since the other topic got suddendly closed): Lame and Lazy.
General thoughts: Where the kitten were wish?

P.S. rofo wherever you are: You are way too obvious, try taking it down a notch or two.
So you’re wasting your DS transformation (assuming you did not use it at all during the combat) just to stomp a guy?
Ok, it “might” be worth it in a 1 on 1 situation, where you’re pretty sure that nobody else will come back at you right after.
Don’t get me wrong it is a cool move, it’s just that the downside (burning down a DS cooldown just for that) doesn’t hold up to the upside in my point of view.

Ok, another quick question: Would this build work with dagger instead of axe?
I’m testing right now something very very similar, both with dagger and with axe…. and I do like the dagger feel with all of this.
Having the dagger help you out building LF seems pretty good to me. Am I wrong somewhere?

Hey, awesome vid
I was just searching a good pvp power build (mostly wvwvw small group hit and run stuff, no zerg) as you can see in my other topic.
Your build sounds interesting and it is much similar to what I was going to try, except I was thinking of maining Dagger.
Is the range of the axe a good tradeoff for the difference in damage (assuming there is a steep difference in dmg as the forum always says)?
Follow up question: Being all power/prec does affect your durability? How much hp do you have right now? Is it an issue?
Thanks

I’m doing exactly what Zeke is saying
I’ve personally tryed both faces of the medal (that is maxing power and condition duration or maxing precision to stack bleed on critical) and the latter works best for my playstyle
Anyways I still want a little bit of change of pace, therefore I’m right now trying to make a build around what Hackks and Hexed suggested (thanks guys).

Power/Prec-DD Build. (DS, Dagger or whatever, just NO Condition).

Hey guys,
So, right now I am mainly using a classic Condition build (0/30/20/20/0) with almost full rabid set (mixture of temple stuff and some TA in the middle). I’m still working my way on TA To get the scepter and I’m using off-hand dagger (Malefecterym) and staff swap (bramblethorn).
Don’t get me wrong I still think that this build is fun and effective in its way, the thing is that in pvp I feel that conditions in general are a little bit too easy to remove and that makes me feel a tad uneusefull in my group.
I was wondering if you guys could help me out to create (and maybe strategize) a more direct-damage oriented build.
What should i go for? Dagger/Dagger – Staff with some kind of 30/0/0/0/30 with 10 point to through around to something more defensive?
Feel free to point me in a good direction or just flat out school me about the possible builds with a little breakdown of it
What about equip though? For starters (since this would definintely a secondary build) would it be good a yellow berserker set? Or should I go for completely different stats?
Thanks in advance to whoever wants to help me out a bit
Endy.
There is a dagger, the Malefacterym, and a there is also a wand: the mystic wand. Both thosw items csn be usually bought in the trading post for a kitten load of golds. I don’t really know but since they are so expensive I’ m guessing that those are random world drop or mystic forge random creations.
It sucks really bad that our best set is one of the hardest to obtain compared with most of other classes.
The only other way is to get TA prec/toug/cond weapons.
Endy.
Well, at least Carrion is not that expensive to get. I’m thinking of getting that one while slowly working on The TA set. What about runes though? I’currently wearing 6 out of 6 superior undead. Any obvious objection?
Endy.
Hey guys,
I’m trying to figure out how to equip my Necro. Right now I’m playing a fairly normal condition build, you can see it here: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNArYWjMap7tbyb87JAJFPf9kis/O6BxHnMA
Should I be looking for a Condition Damage>Vitality>Power (Like the Carrion set) as i initially thought or for a Condition Damage>Toughness>Precision set (like Khilbron’s and the one found in TA)?
In the beginning I thought that precision was completely useless to this spec, but recently I’ve watched the tutorial in the sticky here and it made me rethink a little bit about it all. Putting the sigil that allows to stack a bleed for every crit you make could potentially be usefull, given the fact that I’m already boosting prec since I’ve got Curses maxed out.
What do you guys think? Any major failure on my spec? Anything useful advice you feel like sharing?
Thanks a lot.
Endy.
