EnergySlam.2793

While I value my exclusive skins, there should be no completely unobtainable skins.
Since guildwars2 is so focused on skin collections and such as endgame, there is no reason to lock people out of it. Besides some of the ridiculous high priced one, like Aetherized, there are also skins that are not obtainable at all. Bunny ears and tribal armor come to mind.

Just make it harder to obtain or seasonal. Everyone wants to be a special snowflake.

Neverwinter comes with TWO character slots originally, and after 6 modules, we haven’t got any new ones for free.
just for you guys to have a reference on other games

Neverwinter is a F2P game though. Can’t/shouldn’t compare the business model of a F2P game to a B2P game.

I’ll show you how they’ll justify this whole thing.

“Game is free, shut up”, “get a job”, “i bought the game and since i like it, that means my opinion is the only one that matters”, “just use gold to get gems and buy character slot, lazy cheap kitten”, “Anet is great, all praise Anet”, “HoT will clearly be worth the price, stop complaining”

Did i miss anything?

Yeah, you missed the “We haven’t even seen all of the content yet, how do you know it’s not worth $50 ?”

All the claims that HoT content is...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

EnergySlam.2793

Why are you willing to pay $50-100 for something that’s not even halfway finished? We’ve barely seen any of the content, let alone the “Challenging content” or dungeons. We’ve seen half a map. Specializations are features, not content.

I feel like they shouldn’t have announced any pricings or pre-purchases yet while having so much unrevealed. They have nothing to show as of yet to justify the $50 pricetag. Plus I feel like the whole character slot issue is just plain wrong, people have been inquiring about this since HoT has been revealed. So much rage could’ve been avoided by adding something so simple.

It isn’t that I won’t purchase it, but my friends I almost persuaded to come try the game again will not be purchasing it now.

Their response to me telling the cost, “lol”

Wait, so your friends lol’d at a full fledged MMO with the expansion included costing $50 with no subscription fees?

Good luck getting those friends to play anything haha

It isn’t that I won’t purchase it, but my friends I almost persuaded to come try the game again will not be purchasing it now.

He’s saying that his friends already own the base game and have tried gw2 before.
$50 for an expansion with barely any content revealed as of now is a very steep price to pay. Where are the new dungeons, fractals or challenging content ? How convenient of them to be selling the game before announcing any of that.

Armor/Outfit revelation today

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EnergySlam.2793

EnergySlam.2793

So there’s basically zero incentive to put resources towards new armors. I understand the simplicity of creating outfits and throwing them on the gemstore every few weeks, but since GW2 is all about costumes and aesthetics, there are no new pieces to mix and match.

That being said, the carapace armor is very well made. The argument that “individual armor pieces take more effort to create and customize for each bodytype” is invalid. As a company, I bloody well expect them to put effort into the created content.

I just hope GW2 doesn’t slowly turn into a bought F2P game where most new cool stuff is behind a paywall or a long gold grind.

There’s an halo potion (selfless potion) in the game, but it’s not obtainable anymore/at the moment.

Don’t you like the cardboard wings haha ?

I’d like them to add some new armors instead of outfits. I understand outfits are easier and accessible, but I do want to mix n match. There haven’t been any new pieces lately.

How did you ding 80?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

EnergySlam.2793

My first char was with a lot of crafting, gathering and just exploring/enjoying the game. I quit relatively quickly after reaching level 80 though. Came back half a year ago or something, leveled up new chars through crafting/events like halloween/tomes.

Leveling is pretty boring. And I especially hate having to re-explore the entire map.

Tome Change ideas

in Guardian

EnergySlam.2793

The signet’ll have to have a reduced cooldown in order to be usefull in PvE. If it stays at a 4 1/4 casting time, your whole party will be downed by the time it goes off.
You want to use it when your team gets low and it’s very hard to pre-emptively cast it with gw2 combat dodges.

Anyway, I never use the tomes currently so definitely liking this change. It’ll have to compete with Renewed Focus though. Not sure if I would take either of these over RF.

Should i craft ascended armor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EnergySlam.2793

EnergySlam.2793

The only “need” for ascended armor is for lvl 50 fractals. Other than that, it’s about a 5% increase in stats. Considering exotic armor is basically free and ascended between 400 and 500 gold to craft, you might want to focus on something else first.

Legendary can swap between any stat combination whenever out of combat (not that usefull, you’ll stick with 1 stat combo most likely). The skins and effects are pretty and that’s about the only thing you’ll get out of it.

I had the most fun in the game when I was working towards my first legendary. Having a set goal makes farming less tedious and every drop worth something.

We need another option to get ascended gear.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EnergySlam.2793

EnergySlam.2793

Currently there’s littly incentive to craft ascended gear. I crafted it because I wanted to play fractal 50 for a higher chance on fractal sword skin. Other than that, there’s almost no reason to do so.

I’d rather want them to make it more difficult to craft ‘em, although I’d want to be through something skillfull instead of buying with gold. Also add something “special.” It’s just a 5% ( Or even lower ?) increase in stats right now.

EnergySlam.2793

People always act so entitled in GW2. You paid $50 3 years ago and so many people are complaining about the expansion costing more than $20 (which we don’t even know yet .
Besides that, does everyone expect a company to run on money they got from their initial launch ? Gem store is there, yes, but it’s for cosmetics only and you are able to get gems for gold.

If you can’t save up $30-50 since they announced it, perhaps you should stop playing videogames and start working/finding work. You can even do some basic online stuff for money that only takes your time, no skills.

Keep in mind we don’t know the numbers and exact traits yet. It might be underwhelming. Also consider that the shield has no phantasm + you trade in your focus interrupt/reflects.

New spec looks really, really cool though. I hope they don’t make the others boring compared to the mesmer.

Lack of filler content until expac

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EnergySlam.2793

EnergySlam.2793

Welcome to the generic expansion model. Content updates become scarce as the developers gear up for the expansion pack.

We’re getting what we claimed we wanted.

I definitely want an expansion. I personally think it’s a shame that there’s no content whatsoever. There are plenty of players who want to play SAB, with or without new content added to it. A lot of people liked the gauntlet and many other past events. It shouldn’t divert much resources at all to just recycle them. Lots of players happy, no resources wasted.

More failure: more stats to armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EnergySlam.2793

EnergySlam.2793

I dont see how locking stats behind armor stats gives more build freedom locking them behind trait trees. If they really wanted to give people build freedom they would let us allocate those stat points freely.

They also implied that some of the stats will be added to the characters base and based on what specialization is picked.

Whats the logic behind this decision?

If for example a warrior goes for Phalanx Strength, they have to sacrafice their personal power to get the Grandmaster Trait. With the change, warrior will be able to use more support-style traits without having to compensate for it with their personal DPS.

I like the change. The gear treadmill people are talking about is basically non-existant. “Veteran” players have had 1.5 years to accumulate about 500 gold worth of materials to create an armor.
If you run a couple of dungeons, play a few pvp matches and do some foraging, you can easily reach over 20-30G per day without hardcore grinding. That + laurels and the new daily logins make it very easy to reach “endgame gear”. And that’s without an expensive drop in between.

Skins that are no longer acquirable - DISCUSS

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

EnergySlam.2793

Is it fair ? Maybe. If you have it unlocked, you’d be inclined to say so. If not, then probably not.

I hate the fact that I don’t have certain skins and don’t have to option to unlock them, but I like the certain prestige/exclusivity of it.

Most skins will be come back in some form of way. I don’t know exactly which skins are absolutely non-obtainable ( I know the tribal one, from the old pvp rewards bring those back btw ), but I figure it’ll be back someday, except perhaps some event stuff like the blue wings.

Tl;dr Only sucks when you don’t have them.

I suggest waiting a bit longer until the xpansion is close/released. Currently it feels more empty than before, no content updates (so far) since living story is over so there’s not much to do for most people.

The game’ll be filled with old returning players and new players once it hits, so that’d be the time to look for people to play with.

Are map completions important?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EnergySlam.2793

EnergySlam.2793

OK good because I don’t feel like map completing some of the maps since it got boring looking at the same place for so long

100% is only needed for Legendaries as far as I know. I haven’t maxed on any of my guys and there’s nothing I can’t craft.

Wait you haven’t reached level 80 or haven’t reached level 400 in crafting? If the latter, how? because I thought the point of getting to level 400 was to be able to craft end game gear

Ascended is the end game gear but you’ll need level 500 for that. And as said, 100% is only for legendary.

They can drop from pretty much anything, also from the sw bags. The chances are just ridiculously low which might mean you’ll never see one. Friend of mine played for 7K hours, never had a dropped precursor. With HoT you’ll be able to craft/collect precursors tho, so you might want to wait for that if you want to make a legendary.

Your experience with crafting legendaries

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: EnergySlam.2793

EnergySlam.2793

How did you get it?(Paid, or crafted)
Crafted
How long did it take you to gather the materials?
About 2.5 months for ~125 of each T6, bought rest off TP on last day*
What method did you use to gather the materials?
Doing general events. World bosses, laurels, silverwastes. Haven’t farmed anything specific for a mat. Dungeons for gold to buy precursor/other mats.
How long did it take to craft you overall?
2.5 months
How often did you play during that time period?
5 hours a day, sometimes more, sometimes less.
Did you enjoy it?
Yeah, it’s pretty fun to actually work towards something. I got sunrise and twilight now, I don’t like the other legendaries, so not having as much fun in the game as I had while getting my leg. Dunno what to do with gold atm.

A new race
I would love a new race if I didn’t suspect it to be Tengu. I like playing races with similar bodybuilds as humans. So I don’t care much about a new race since it’ll most likely be one I won’t play regardless.

A true raw support class, like monk
A gaurdian, even with berzerker armor (although he dies really fast haha), can do a splendid job of healing up and preventing damage with aegis’. Combined with water elementalist capable of combo’ing waterfields pretty easily, I feel we already have “Support classes”. The way the combat works however, doesn’t require any support classes since you are able to completely mitigate the damage by dodging.

Quests
I think the current system works very well and it’s refreshing from the system other MMO’s use. I’d leave it like this.

Player housing
No need at all for me. Instance-based houses, what would I do here ? Guild hall will be pretty cool since you’ll gather as a big guild.

Heroes
Didn’t play GW1 much. I believe those were the NPC’s that replaced players. If so, I prefer playing with players and they’d have to revamp/optimize the AI. It’ll still be akward to use because of the way dungeons etc are done (Stacking, skipping, sequences etc)

Templates
PvE and PvP builds are already seperate, would love to be able to switch between 2 builds on the fly.

New weapons aka new skills
(I want a greataxe!)
It was pretty odd to get used to the way skills are bound to weapons in gw2. Even though I don’t like the HUGE skillbars in WoW or Rift etc, It’d be nice to have some more customizability to the weapon skills.

New Legendaries & Their Recipes

There was an interview with Colin after Pax where he said: You are able to get every precursor once per account (Can’t find the specific interview atm)

So I assume every precursor will have their own collection and we have no clue yet how hard or time-consuming they’ll be. Also considering all the extra mats and map completions (if they keep the recipe mostly the same) it’ll still be very hard to get all the legendaries.
