Which would you prefer? In maintenance mode as it is now or shutdown like City of Heroes was.
Where did this binary come from?
Firstly, I understand this thread might not last long. Why would it?
I bought Deluxe Guild Wars 2 for £60 GPB (disproportionately higher than CAN, EUR and USA exchange rate equivalences at the time) when it was released any played for approximately a month to six weeks and it was not for me. I was under the misapprehension that it had something to do with original Guild Wars. Barring some Charr and some geographical location names, it did not. Despite this dissimilarity I tried to play and yearned to warm to the game, but like many of my peers I did not and opted to cease playing.
Unfortunately for me I continued with Original Guild Wars which has no official forums of its own nor any apparent support whatsoever – hence I am here, hoping to get a fraction of my £60-worth from a glance by a forum moderator.
Those who still log in will be aware of how much of a cesspool of cheating, RMT, botting and scamming that it has become due to a complete absence of any in-game support. However, any attempt to rectify this through the support team is completely disregarded although the EULA, they proclaim, is still upheld but by all practical and empirical experiences this is not the case. Disheartening, considering much for Original Guild Wars is still abuzz with activity.
This, of course, invites the argument that Guild Wars is very old. This does not excuse the failure to uphold a reasonable standard of gameplay especially when the game is actively being sold in the online store as well as multiple microtransactions. Accepting money for such a faulty service is reprehensible, unfair and unethical.
The support staff have failed to act upon any forms of in-game abuse by means of verbal attacks, deliberate match manipulation and RMT bot users who are running websites selling in-game items for real-money cash which make the user experience truly dire at the expense of legitimate players. I feel that I have been insulted by support and led to feel like an inferior customer by the lies, placation attempts, insincere apologies and failure to allocate a member of staff at least a few minutes to actually take some action where unequivocal evidence has proved in-game abuse and exploitation.
As a result of the above, I know that I am among the least-valued of NCSoft’s consumers for merely and politely requesting the bare minimum of expectation of a milieu for the game. However, my request is very minimal… which is to merely allocate someone for a day or two to clean up the excessive breaching of the EULA as listed above. Alternatively, could you please declare the game entirely unsupported so that the existing ordinary players do not feel deceived and misled?
If not, then I feel like I deserve some sort of reparation (not financial) for the poor service I have been subjected to. Please feel free to disagree.
It’s all a pyschological dissuasion tactic anyway… smoke and mirrors like what was implemetented in Guild Wars 1: nobody will act upon it except to make an example.
with “original guild wars” to you mean gw1? because afaik gw1 is not getting updates (not counting anniversary and holidays) anymore so it would kinda be hopeless to suggest anything for it.
I omitted to mention in my OP that I didn’t actually make a suggestion in my e-mail to support.
Hi,
I’ve been emailing support regarding a PvP issue in original Guild Wars. GM “Sue” has redirected me here but I think it’s likely to be closed as it would not be appropriate for this forum. Could anybody confirm or deny this?
I’m guessing the GM has skimmed the couple of paragraphs I wrote and misread. I assume the support staff are inundated right now because the response took several days.
“Hello —-———,
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your ideas about Guild Wars. We have found that the best way for the development team to gather and review player feedback and suggestions is through our official forums. We ask players to post their ideas in our Official Forums: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum
Please post your suggestion in the forum most relevant to the subject at hand. For instance, if you are writing about PvP, post in the PvP sub-forum. If you are making a suggestion about a specific profession, please post in that profession’s sub-forum. And if you are writing about the Living World, feel free to post in that sub-forum.
Members of the Development Team read the forums daily, and while they usually cannot respond to individual suggestions, the fact that team members can review those suggestions in a public forum helps them gauge the level of interest in a particular idea, and also allows other players to discuss and offer feedback of their own.
The team looks forward to reviewing your input.
Regards,
GM Sue

People keep citing the number of hours played per $ or £ as a basis for determining value for money. Is everybody actually enjoying every minute of it?
For me, I’m grinding the map: vistas, waypoints, POIs etc. which are all the same in each map. Even the story missions are the same as each other: “go there, kill those, then go here, kill these. Now here’s a reward.” It’s a very time consuming way to do a mere half a dozen things.
As mentioned by others, I’m also patiently awaiting the optimizations. With an i5 2500 @ 3.3GHz, 16gb 1333MHz RAM and GTX560Ti surely I should have more than 28fps without the tremendous heat (80-85C on gfx and CPU). I play with the panel off my PC and it still gets much hotter than any other game I’ve run on this system. I ran Skyrim for months with 50+ FPS on all max settings with temperatures averaging 20C cooler than GW2.
For a game that was originally planned for release in 2010, I can safely say it’s been an anticlimax and a half. It’s a blessing in disguise for me since it means I can get on with university stuff.
I bought it because I naively thought it had something to do with Guild Wars.
I paid for the Deluxe version which was £65 or $100 because NCSoft or whoever make up their own exchange rates. I keep playing to justify my expense, but only for short periods because I become frustrated and bored.
I’m fed up of being hindered by bugs, paying ridiculous sums to map travel and killing the same monsters repeatedly. The whole experience is very repetitive, the quality of graphics is actually less than 7.5 years-old Guild Wars and it bears no resemblance whatsoever to its fine predecessor. I feel defrauded by the title of the game.
This could decrease their online store gold sales so I can’t see a lending system being implemented.
I cannot stand these respawns. I was trying to harvest some sweet pumpkins earlier and killed the 4 trolls patrolling them. Once I began digging up the pumpkins, the trolls had respawned already meaning that I had to either kill them again, die or abandon ship.
It really is poorly thought out.
I wouldn’t mind paying for repairs if the deaths were actually my fault. However, most of the time I die because of random thin-air spawns on top of me while I happen to be sneezing or closing a the window. Some boss creatures also have ridiculous knock-down duration and damage which means you’re borked if you’re alone. Isn’t the difficulty supposed to dynamically change to suit the number of present players?
