I’m all for it, at the very least they could update the spell effects, to you know…what they were before the ridiculous “Visual noise”crusade.
Because lets be honest this game has been going in the rather opposite direction.
A downgrade from the beginning of Guildwars 2, since Heart of thorns came out, visually i mean.
That being said, i’m not really looking forward to the next expansion….
I would like to be clear, a remaster is a deffinitive yes for me
I agree with the poster above me, except for the last sentence…. emphasising on female Charr nipples/tits to me is just all kinds of wrong, and doesn’t go with established lore of the race.
I main a fem Charr warrior since the beginning, and in my opinion keep the armors the same as the males, with the exception of making female charr specific armor/outfit like for example the wedding dress..just never ever do something like this, where you make a human/Norn female armor and strap it on female charr
Won’t Judge Asura since i don’t play them
Yeah, i’m not letting this slide.. you (A-net) still haven’t restored alot of the visuals. What are you waiting on, if i might ask? i thought all tools where in place?
Did i miss something?
I understand where you’re coming from OP, eventhough i like the staff skills myself.
But if A-net would take the time to do an animation overhaul for ele my vote goes out to scepter, it has IMO byfar the ugliest casting animations, with one exeption, that would be water trident, that one i really like
an asura calling in a charr warband? a sylvari turning into a bear? a charr praying to lyssa?
no thanks…What’s wrong with an Azura that earns the respect of the Warband?
What’s wrong with a sylvari learning how to invoke the spirits of the wild? In a certain way sylvari Ranger do just that.
Also, The gods are real in GW2, so what would prevent a Charr to have a particular experience with the god Lyssa? Making them use their free will to believe, just like any creature with free will can in the real world.
All the examples you gave sound like incredible story lines inside the world of GW2.
No thanks, homogenesation for the lose.
But what would be fun is if certain skills got a racial tint, like for instance Charr:
The warrior skill “For great justice” could be replaced with battleroar, or
Banners for charr could be their legion themed banners… just examples here, and they could do that for all races and classes. i think that would be really cool, and make each race more diverse than just the character model.
I understand that from a pvp standpoint this would be met with resistance because people want to quickly recognize what skill is being used, but i believe people would learn this quickly
Just an idea though, based on what i would like to see, because i’d like to see more racial diversity, hence why i disagree with the person i qouted
Really cool find !Also Blood and Merlot? Pikensquare for the win! greetings from someone from Royale Blood
Would be cool… I would really like to see a tameable Rockhead, or even an Arrowhead personally. A man can dream…
Thanks for your responses to this thread Gaile, it’s nice to finally have a dialog about this subject. That being said, i hope the dev’s are willing to consider giving the players back the full scale visuals, maybe for the aura’s we can compromise a little by making them more visually atractive without being as loud as they used to be?
But for the rest i would like to see it all restored,. Like other people said, Air overload is but a former shadow of itself, and waterblast combo just looks plain nasty now. And a petpeeve of mine Lightning surge is nothing atm, literally (sorry voor bringing it up all the time
)
I my personal opinion classes like Elementalist and Mesmer are supposed to be visualy loud, they are magic users… i think it’s one of the main reasons people chose them, atleast it is for me
Yeah it’s a start, now for the rest….
Agreed with everyone’s after patch posts. Fireball is a good start A-net, now please continue and restore the rest, please please pretty please
There shouldn’t be any reason left now not to do it
Also “lighting surge” is still without its lightning lol…. i mean come on…
Thanks for still doing this, much appreciated!
LOL ! that banner is hilarious. On topic : I sure hope it doesn’t take till the next AMA, since you know… they haven’t announced they will do one again in the nearby future
Unless i missed something?
Goodbye Colin, and goodluck on your next job, thanks for everything you did for the guildwars franchise.
You will be missed, but luckily we still have the vids
Siobhan, that’s an excellent post imo, and one that merrits a response i’d think… to bad thats just my opinion.
Also i understood that “AMA” was a Reddit specific thing?
I agree, i really appreciated the AMA, even despite my question not being asked (ETA on Visuals).
They really cleared alot of things up and i think it was a really good boost for morale for many people.
I just read the AMA by Mike O’Brien and nobody asked about the visuals? or did i miss something? I think i’ll remain sceptic just like Zoltar, i’m hoping for an ETA from A-net
Just wanted to pass along an update from Colin, which, yet again, can be found only on Reddit:
Just wanted to quickly pass along we asked the skills team to hold off on making any more FX changes until a system was in place to allow people to toggle them on/off as a selection. They’ve been continuing to work on the project of making combat less visually noisy, while also ensuring there will be options for players to pick from.
More info on this with the spring update but I did want to say you’ll see the old FX restored soon along with some visibility options for those who want to use themAnd, as I mentioned there as well, it’s nice that they listened, but the speed at which they responded was unsatisfactory to say the least. On the other hand, we have a relatively well-defined ETA, which was probably what he wanted to give us before saying anything at all.
So, confirmed! The old fireball, mesmer wells etc are coming back this Spring!
Thanks for sharing this! I really hope they keep their word on this, and that every visual will be restored to its former glory, not just fireball and aura’s
863 post including mine, you’d really think this would warrant a word from A-net by now?
People seem to focus on fireball and aura’s, but it’s a lot more than that.
I mean, lightning surge doesn’t even have lightning anymore!! how sad is that?
The mist of “wash the pain away”looks like dust now.. i could go on, but most of you know what’s up.
How long does that ESL thing go on? maybe they can focus on this after that kitten is over… because despite what Colin said, i still think that is the reason.
Oh, i would like to suggest thumbing up the OP. maybe that helps for visibility?

Hello mesmers, i would like to ask you to share your dissatisfaction/opinions on the visually nerfing of your armor, but also your chrono wells and other skills in this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Visual-nerfs-Merged/page/15#post5886195
Your sister in arms, elementalist
Hello, i strongly agree with the last poster. There is a post in the discussion forum named “Visuals” wich is a merged post.
I want to ask you guy’s/girls to post your dissatisfaction/opinion’s on this topic there.
Here is the link: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Visual-nerfs-Merged/page/15#post5886191
Hello Tomiyou, i copied the link in your OP and added it to my post in the discussion forum, under the post “Visuals” wich is a merged post. A-net has been nerfing visuals in the last months now… i would welcome you and others to post your dissatisfaction/opinion on these changes in the post i mentioned.
Here is the link to that post: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Visual-nerfs-Merged/page/15#post5886191
Hey, i just found this on the Elementalist sub-forum: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZqGOKsRMGI
Look at how air scepter skills used to be…. and the rest ofcourse.
I think this is the first time i’ve seen a game developer visually neuter their own game.
And for what? Colin said it wasn’t for PvP…then for what? i was in an Axemaster Gwyrilion fight yesterday and i couldn’t even see the guy, let alone what he was doing…. just saying that these visual nerfs did nothing and i mean absolutly nothing to improve this game.
The only thing you have accomplished with this, is that the elementalist now feels really bland to play/look at… you promoted those prenerf-visuals in your trailers and your points of interest… i can honestly tell you in that department i feel cheated, in that you took something away from the players for wich they paid…stunning visuals and fun.
If i wanted to play something less visually impressive i’d play WoW or another mmo, atleast they have their raiding scene figured out and i know what to expect as far as graphics go.
I think that we are owed an answer that is long overdue, is this what we can expect from you at A-net? more of this “visual noise reduction” in the next months?
If the answer is yes, then i for one won’t be buying any of your upcoming expansions…
I just do’t understand why you refrain from communicating with your playerbase… Is it so hard to put in sliders like many here have suggested?
A severely dissapointed elementalist.
Happy Holidays.
Sad to see we got no response.
More like..Beyond pathetic at this point… But nonetheless Happy Holidays
Well I certainly am all for more emotes in this game… But A-net seems to be only interested in E-sports pvp and raids now.
And since more emotes doesn’t add anything to both of those… i wouldn’t count on it. Maybe somewhere in the future in the gem store where you can buy them…. for 200 gems a piece.
Maybe they’ll let us buy back the original spelleffects for our characters too…
Sorry i’m that bitter at the moment … i upvoted your post OP
This post should be bumped back to the frontpage. Give us back our intitial spell effects please! All of them.
Staff on ele is really depressing to look at atm, as it was my favorite weapon of choice…
Please just give us a slider so we can decide for ourselves if we want to reduce “visual noise”.
I logged on my ele, just now and i went trough all the attacks to check for myself.
The new fireball is indeed disgustingly weak looking, however it’s not limited to that.
They did decrease the size of lavafont , eruption (really small now), shatterstone (scepter) Churning earth (woefully unimpressive now) and swirhling winds.
And one of my favorite attacks, lightning surge, it used to shoot lightning, now it doesn’t do that anymore…the target just takes damage… I really really really hate these changes
I chose Elementalist to use visually stunning and impressive attacks, not this weak looking garbage

Yep, same for me, tried a couple of times and he just won’t respond
Wow, those look really amazing, you have really good drawing skills! I like the ones on the left the best, especially the lower left one. I can really see these hairstyles on Norn girls, good job
@Anmida, i nearly broke a rib, laughing at that pic!
Op, i am 100% in agreement! I was just talking with my brother about this the other day. Why not just have the skill randomly pick between the members of your personal story warband, or just your sparringpartner and randomise the second, this would be so epic.
I to miss my Guy’s/girls, it just rubs me the wrong way that after Orr we don’t go back and finish what we started…. I mean all of a sudden we are leader of some guildgroup (LS).
Don’t get me wrong i like those peeps, but they’re not Charr, nor did i choose them… it just feels wrong to leave my own WB behind without even a second thought…for a bunch of mice even…
So yeah back to topic, i would like it if we at least could see them back in the WB skill, especially if we probably won’t see them in out story anymore
@Dietpepsi, true, though that would be the easyway out imo, besides how often do you see the skill being used, especially in WvW where “clones” would be most likely to happen
(edited by Erik the Dauntless.4063)
Thanks, Frostfang. I know exactly what you mean, they could have done better.
But i think (and i’m sure you and others agree) that the Charr are overall pretty much neglected since the beginning…. for example the clipping problems with armor, the tail clipping on nearly every new armor available, thoug the last ones seem to be doing better.
There are still alot of things that need fixing, for example tier 3 heavy shoulders, and not to mention the the tier 3 light pants wich looks like it wasn’t even made with Charr in mind… and i think some animations can do with a touch up.
Sorry for the rant, i just think Charr players deserve better
I was called "Sir"once… by some human in Ebonhawke. But you know..humans, no charr takes them serious anyway.
Never fluffy though, and i must disagree that it’s only the males that look impressive, the females do just fine in that department. It’s all just opinion anyway.
Have you ever heard the "battleroar"quotes on the females?….nothing cute about that
.
Anyway, added a screenie of my Bloodlegionnaire
Race:Charr
Class: Warrior/Guardian
Sex: Female/Male
Armor: Dreadnaught (Tier 3 cultural Charr, heavy)
Armor issue: Bugged shoulders, the arc on the shoulder seems bent inwards, same as the last spike on the shoulder.
The bent spike has been there for a long time, but the arc bending seems new.
Please fix both
7.5, doesn’t really stand out but i find the naturel look good for a ranger
Here’s my Elementalist, Cyndress Solarian. She is a noble of DR
Hi, i’ll share some more Silky with you Guy’s/girls. and added screens of my necromancer Tyrana Yarnravage and my engineer Kitt Yarnblast.
Silky Yarnballs
Tyrana Yarnravage
Kitt Yarnblast.
I’m sure you guy’s can guess wich warband they are from?
Hey OP, i wanted to say that i really like your idea! To bad i’m already in a fantasic guild on Underworld server. But i just wanted to wish you goodluck with your guild
and if you ever find yourselves on Underworld, say hi!
My Charracters are:
Silky Yarnballs : warrior and my main.(blood)
Tyrana Yarnravage : necromongrel.(Ash)
Kitt Yarnblast : engineer (Iron)
Again, best of luck to you and those that join
I am 100% behind what the OP is saying! It’s simply unacceptabe, A-net made a race that is so godkitten cool, yet in the armor department they seem to not want to go the extra mile.
Why do they wonder that Charr are the least played race? It’s not because people don’t find them interesting… it’s because Charr are so limited in armor that actually looks good on them.
If they want to make playing Charr more attractive then saying thing like this:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Official-now-horns-are-bad-mkay
(read OP) is not the way to do it.
I gave your posts a “tumb’s up” OP. And i think everyone who cares and or play’s Charr should do the same.
I thought Charr where the unofficial mascott for GW2?even if we are not ,we deserve better than this !
To add: this is an mmo-RPG, we as the players shouldn’t be shoehorned into playing one race. This extends from armors to story btw, it has been said before and i’ll say it again: I play Charr, The story should reflect that, and not limit itself to only the first few missions!
(edited by Erik the Dauntless.4063)
3 cheers for female Charr! Here another picture of one of Blood legion’s finest…
I give thee Silky Yarnballs from Underworld!
Well, if you have Euryale as your companion (as Charr ofc) she say’s something along the lines of “I tried Skritt rations once…never again”.So this leads me to believe that,
yes Skritt could very well be part of a warbands diet.
If i don’t forget i’ll post a screenshot of it later.
“This assumes that Charrs don’t uses tools or brains.” Exactly. That’s what I was trying to say. The charrs are too good. They are equally as smart or smarter and much bigger.
Both the Norn and the Charr are headstrong races, who don’t like to cooperate together. The Norn think one of them is worth an entire army and Charr have too much inner power struggles to really band together against a common foe.
I’m sorry, but you’re wrong about the Charr in your last sentence…
Charr are raised in Fharar’s to band together, most warbands are Charr who know each other from being cubs.. growing up and training together. Also the story tells us that the Charr as a whole will fight together against a common foe, despite inner power struggles.
Just another pic i wanted to share, my warrior Silky Yarnballs in Orr.
Greetings from Underworld
I agree, i would like to see more of my assembled warband.
Why not do something with the Elite skill, make it summon the players warband mates instead of randoms… i miss my little Euryale
Yeah, Charr females rock! Don’t see many on Underworld sadly…
Anyway here’s a pic of my beastly looking warrior
Oh, loved the pics so far, cant w8 to see some more
