how does a ranger beat it? if you try to put the pet away it comes right back out and the leyleecher just heals up

After doing the coordinated attack on the white circles, I just stood on the portal dais a small distance away and set the pet to not attack. The leecher was more interested in Aurene than my character. Then run in again when the circles appear. He did sap some health back from Aurene a few times and from myself/the pet twice (his “pull” attack does reach the platform) but not at the rate it wasn’t able to regain what we were able to take away. He went down in three rounds. Aurene packs a punch.

My reaction to the cutscene in the last instance: “cuuuuuuuuuute”(a brief pause) (dragon starts making “scary” noises toward destroyers) “hoooooow cuuuuuute” (makes crapload of screenshots)

After staring in disbelief for a few seconds (because of all things, I did NOT expect two giant, yellow, adorable, baby dragon eyes) I found myself praying for ANet to license an official plushie. Or at LEAST a minipet.

But I really want a plushie……cough cough for my daughter of course. cough

I think overall WP has been very…fair…in his assessment of the situation. At least he understands the real problem at hand.

This isn’t reeeeeeally about legendaries as it is about features that were supposed to come out years ago put behind the HoT paywall plus the scope of HoT at release plus the unfinished WvW plus the lack of new story anywhere except in raids and NOW the indefinite postponing of legendaries after they’ve been on the table since GW2 launched. It’s stagnation and not delivering on previous announcements that everyone is really frustrated about. Legendaries is just the latest thing on a pretty big pile. I don’t think so many people would be as upset if this happened earlier in the year.

Most of the above doesn’t affect me personally except for the lack of story. But that doesn’t make it any more okay. This is the end result of your mouth running faster than your feet and spreading yourself too thin. I’m glad Mike is trying to right the ship. We’ll see what comes out of it.

I don’t have all my eggs in the April basket. I’m committed at least for xpac 2 to see how things go. I get that it’s going to be a while before we see any benefits from this decision. Of course I’m going to stick around to see how it plays out. GW2 is pretty much the only MMO I have time to play and I’d probably be one of the last to leave because of that. But that hasn’t made the post-HoT era any less frustrating to witness.

No kill-stealing, everyone shares the nodes, everyone can res, and the lack of a single specific class that is a requirement for every single piece of group content.

While I have provided multiple reasons, they all basically just fall under this umbrella of a deminished capacity for personal griefing. It still happens but not in a way that gets under my skin.

I fled to GW 1 because I was so sick of people telling me to get out of “their” space as soon as I stepped in it even if I was just getting from point A to B.

Oh and ladycharr. Thank you so much for giving us kitten feminine Charr instead of cats with boobs.

Pre-order next expansion?

Erylian.8405

I will pre order but I will wait until I get a release date.
I might not get the $100 version again.

I’ll pre-order/purchase as soon as I am able but I’ll definitely reconsider purchasing at the $100+ level if the only thing that separates it from the middle level is gems.

Years later, I do not regret buying the core game’s CE version AT ALL. But I do wrinkle my nose a bit thinking about what I paid for HoT. It’s not like I don’t buy gems throughout the year anyway. If I wanted physical goodies with the game, I should have purchased the middle level and spent the extra money on the Charr plushie or some other merch instead.

If preview is any indication, yes you can dye it.

There was much rejoicing over this new development.

So thank you, Anet. Whatever you did worked, for us at least, last night and we were able to complete our stories.

Specifically you need to start a different chapter to clear the data. Then immediately quit that chapter and go back to cutting signs.

Simply quitting the chapter and turning it on again it didn’t work as it would just pick up where I left off. I needed to start and quit a completely different chapter in order to get a fresh start. It worked after that.

Spending all that time and effort just to have defeat snatched from the jaws of victory because of a bug is not insignificant. I spent several hours yesterday trying to take him out both solo and with a group. Every attempt has failed from bugs. Even when we managed to defeat him, we still failed. Our party leader died in the final flight because of this glider bug, got stuck in the tree prison, and could not deliver the final blow.

Do I have buyers remorse? Certainly not! Up until this point I have had an absolute blast and once this issue is fixed I will continue having a blast. But when you have to fly to avoid a major ground attack, suddenly dropping out of the sky for no reason is not a “minor” bug. I certainly can empathize with the OP’s frustration.

I have a love-hate relationship with high pressure chase levels. I like the race but not the obstacle course. The sudden addition of super powers added this wow factor that offset a lot of my usual frustration. “I am NOT going to bed until this is done but kitten those pustules!!!”.

Not as fun as outrunning the sea of White Mantle in GWB’s War in Kryta but close! I’m certainly not dreading running it again on my alts.

As for Eir and Faolain, I didn’t want Eir to die but I wasn’t surprised she did. I was shocked that Faolain was snuffed out so quickly after her line about freedom. But I guess Canach fills that “I want redemption” role and well…even in real life there are people who don’t want to be redeemed. There was no REAL reason for Faolain to do that to Eir other than that Faolain just wanted to.

When she reappeared I knew It wasn’t her. The real kick in the teeth was seeing her mutilation. The “human” face on that body is unsettling. I was expecting a Mordrem but not one that was so big.

Is there software out there that gives you better controls than Windows’ volume sliders? If there was something that worked as an equalizer, you could cut the high frequency sound across the board.

Erylian.8405

I’m trying to get through the story before the expiration on spoilers runs out so my brain is not really thinking of anything else like specializations.

I’m at a point where I need to level up the first Exulted mastery to continue but last night I had a real “wow” moment thinking of how far everything has come from vanilla GW2.

I’m really digging the atmosphere. It chilling to make your way to the lower level of the jungle and see the sea of endless writhing vines (especially when you don’t have updrafts yet). Yeah bluh bluh the entire bottom can’t be walked on bluh. But there’s something really horrifying about it.

Also the cutscenes! I’m so glad that the ability to show, really SHOW, instead of just tell and sometimes observe now exists. I know it was there for Living World 2 but seeing the whole…scene, hell MANY scenes, play out and told in such a cinematic way complete with facial expressions and seeing the fear just brought it all home. I just had to sit for a few minutes and be thankful because that experience would have never existed in vanilla.

I also think the Masteries concept in general is just brilliant. Actual honest progression in the new areas while still keeping all things pretty equal in the old.

Hopefully I’ll see beyond this battle someday.

I’ve learned more about PvP from my guild skirmishing in a guild arena. Commentary is given in full view of other members who would hold them accountable if someone was mean about it.

Suggestion: Musical Instruments

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Erylian.8405

FOR THE LAG:

Devs, please allow the instruments to play their notes LOCALLY, this would allow us to hear the notes being played immediately and not be off by a whole second, making it impossible to play. If the notes play locally, client side, on our own machine, there should be no delay.

I would also add that the resulting sound that gets created and played in game should NOT be audible to the person playing the instrument, so they do not hear two copies of the note.

The lag on the notes is the only thing keeping me from playing and enjoying my instruments ! (I have the flute and the lute)

That isn’t a bad idea.

However this would make things more difficult for guilds and groups that are dedicated to playing together if everyone hears their notes accurately but everyone else is lagged. At least when everyone lags the individuals can compensate.

But again….it’s not a bad idea. Especially for solo play. Even more so if it can be toggled on and off.

Suggestion: Musical Instruments

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Erylian.8405

Erylian.8405

my problem with musical instruments is the big lag from the moment you play a note till the moment you hear it. It makes it impossible for me to play anything, unless i am not listening (and i do want to listen to what i am playing)

If we are to ask for things, how about implementing midi conectivity? So i can play the instruments from my keyboard controller. That would be fun, specially if i get to apply a LFO with a low pass filter to the lute, LOL.

I didn’t suggest it because I don’t know if it is even possible for the devs to do something about the lag never mind the ability to use a MIDI keyboard.

But fixing the lag alone would be like Christmas.

Erylian.8405

Good thread. It’s very positive.

In addition to the above, I’d also like to propose two suggestions to enrich the instrument system:

1.) The addition of a bass instrument of some sort. The current collection plays roughly within the same three octive range either in part or it’s entirety. A 2 or 3 octive bass instrument can add a fourth octive the the total GW2 range and be a unique playing experience while not diminishing the value of the other instruments.

Design/lore wise, it wouldn’t have to be as large and complicated as a tuba (though that would be pretty cool). A trombone/sackbut is a possible option. A little more compact, has a simple shape, and can fit in with the lore.

2.) Change the pitches of the Flute and Merriner’s Horn to play in C so that they can be played harmoniously with the bells/lute/harp.

For me it would have to be not realizing i got a precursor for a legendary and turning it into materials. I had just finished fighting a world boss, and recieved Rage as a piece of loot. not realizing what it was and thinking it was just another speargun I made the weapon accountbound for the skin and then broke it down into materials. this was back just after mawdrey was put into the game and i was grinding for bloodstone dust. Just realized what it was about a week ago and have been kicking myself ever since. I want to hear what has made you just sit there in realization “thinking wow that was stupid”

stories that while upsetting at the time you can now look back and laugh at yourself a little bit

I might have done the exact same thing a few days ago with a Zap. I have the skin. I hope I’m wrong and it’s a Crystalline Blade instead…

Legendary Weapons - an appeal to ArenaNet

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Erylian.8405

Erylian.8405

So this thread is literally about -two- legendaries, The Dreamer and Quip. Let’s be real here. Out of every legendary, out of 19 weapons, 2 are the source of this, eh, I don’t want to say drama but really.

I really do hope they have more eccentric legendaries coming. Why is everyone so hell bent on being dark and cool. Are these the same players with ‘reaper’ ‘dark’ and all other stereotypical manner of character names? That’s what makes these weapons so great, they’re not stereotypical. They break the mold.

This isn’t about just two. It is about the design philosophy overall. Not everyone wants eccentric/flamboyant/flashy weapons so asking for more when there is already plenty is not fair to the people who want less of the sparkle unicorn confetti it in newer legendaries.

I totally understand where you’re coming from, I just suppose from my perspective, this isn’t something that’s been a massive invasive thing I suppose, especially when there are really great alternatives that aren’t legendaries floating around out there. I hope they add more options that are on-par with what’s being suggested, but if they change their design philosophy to not include the more out-there options then I will be disappointed. Because for those of us who do enjoy these flamboyant options, we only have two (three if you decide to count Bifrost). We’re in the minority here. Something to think about.

Chiming in that I also love the colorful, light-hearted, silly stuff. Not prefer it…but it makes me smile whenever I see those weapons in game much like quaggan backpacks, minipets, bobble heads, and tonics. I wish I was drawn to the shortbow more on my ranger main so I could justify getting The Dreamer.

To exclude the really out there designs would be a downer for me as well. It took a while for me to appreciate Kudzu and I can’t deny I was disappointed by the design at first. Nature and the archetypical bow classes usually go together so my initial impression was that “a plant bow” was a standard, safe, and unsurprising concept…not like the “WTF is this?” Dreamer. But I came around. It really is a beautiful and graceful looking weapon.

Greetings! I have a problem that, which does not currently affect my ability to play the game. It is affecting my ability to access my online account from my mobile device.

My Google Authenticator app (which I only use for GW2) has lost my GW2 entry full stop. I can no longer generate codes and I now need to set up GW2 with GA all over again.

However, because I’ve already set up GA once with my account, I need codes (which I can’t generate) in order to deactivate it and start fresh.

I’m searching through Google’s troubleshooting but nothing is turning up yet. Does anyone have any suggestions? Who am I better off sending a support ticket to? Google to ask for my data back or ANet to ask that security be removed from my account?

My eyes were confused.

Not just the mainland. With the addition of the Mursaat this definitely opens up the possibility of neighboring lands like Ring of Fire and Janthir. Both are places where the Mursaat have had a presence. Both are fairly close to the jungle. But neither are the Meguuma jungle nor are they as large as the jungle. If they did not explicitly mention the Mursaat then they could easily not mention a few areas outside where the bulk of the story takes place.

My gut is telling me that we will leave the mainland at some point.

Maple Story was my very first MMO and I learned very quickly what I didn’t like about the genre. If I start feeling defensive just seeing other players in “my” map…something is just downright wrong with this picture. And if I hate the high grief potential in a free to play game, why on earth would I pay for that experience?

I left MS and went to GW1 because I didn’t have to play with anybody unless I wanted to. I could just relax and enjoy the world and not have to deal with people. But now…I can fight alongside total strangers again and it’s actually enjoyable and fun and not cringe-inducing. I am so glad this game exists with a fast map-travel cherry on top. It’s like it was made just for me!

And jumping puzzles! What is wrong with me?! I HATE platformers. Why do I love vistas so much?!

I don’t mind that there is no quiver, when I’m in the middle of PvE, that’s the last thing that I’m looking at.

On a graphical side, games that I have played that include the quiver experience issues such as the arrow cutting into the quiver when your character pulls it out. That annoys me more than the no quiver issue.

Same here.

The thought of “Hey! No quiver!” did come to mind but I’m okay with that. I guess it’s okay to have one there for cosmetic purposes but I don’t need to see my ranger reach behind her over and over when she does rapid fire or barrage (and I don’t want my whole skill set to change just to accommodate the extra time arrow retrieval would require).

I was playing in Metrica Province with a human character and going through the renown heart where the golem gives you the faulty staff and collects the data as you injure yourself with it. After going through all four spells, my char is flat on her back and when I pressed the key expecting her to get on her feet and walk around, the body just slid along the ground.

So yeah I couldn’t help myself…I wasn’t able to play when this bug was popular and enjoyed watching my lifeless body hopping around for a few seconds before the character got back on her feet again.

I tried again with another golem and for a split second the body seemed to slide again but she got back up faster than before.

Not exactly gamebreaking…just letting you know what I saw. Unfortunately I cannot remember specifically witch golem I was talking to when this happened.
