This is exactly how I imagine the Anet team is deciding to send out the Halloween skins. “LookBook Lookbooklookbooklookbook” XD
so , can we get someone here to answer the million dollar question
how many days are the " few " days…
A: Not many but more than one.

: ) I feel that this weeks Henge of Denravi / Borlis Pass / Devona’s Rest match-up is leaps and bounds better than last week’s Monkey+Football croc-o-kitten fiasco. It feels really competitive, yet doable. /pats ANet’s back with a soothing clockwise rotational rub “You are doing so good, remember, you can do it!”
Every time search isn’t used a unicorn dies.

Is this a joke? I mean, the first week I was surprised by how well we (Mag) did for the first 2 or 3 days. And then we get matched with TC?
Look, the match ups for this tourney are the biggest joke since – since I don’t even know. Mag should have been dropped FORCIBLY by ANet. Take a look at the coverage. You guys at ANet all say you listen to metrics. Did the metrics not tell you that Mag had maybe 1/10th the coverage of TC?
Agree 100%. Getting paired with one, usually green world, that is ranks above the other two is just a blood bath plain and simple.
The only thing I’ve come across that might make any sense whatsoever is this Dev quote…
Jessica Boettiger.2563:
Basically removing the achievement requirement during a tournament is an experimental step we took to reduce the incentive for achievement grinding. We want people to play WvW, and not focus too heavily on satisfying achievement requirements.
If they are changing things up in “experimental steps” to try things out, I get that, but in the case of matchups why do it in the middle of the kitten Tournament? Also, our less WvW inclined servers needed the rewards to draw in people to stay longer than 10 mins. People can argue over skill>numbers, but it doesn’t change the fact that most servers are getting steamrolled. I mean look at those kitten numbers!
No, lower map caps is not the way to go. Here is how I understand the majority of the problems in WvW today. Tournament is announced, guilds and players transfer to selected servers (can’t deny paying players the right to give NCsoft/ANet money), then blob>skill for the win (or at the very least overruns the skilled). The main problem I see here is metrics/ranks seemed to be used from the previous tournament season or pre-transfer/activity numbers to assist in creating matchups. This now outdated information leads to the unbalanced WvW matchups we have seen since the beginning.
What I propose is simple. After a tournament is announced and some may transfer here and there, lock in all players to their respective worlds (as you currently do). Now hold a “Qualification Week” with big rewards for participation prior to actual tournament. People will come out in force and bring their “A” game to qualify for rank 1-3, 4-5, (and so on) for two reasons. Reason 1: Prestige and bragging rights. Reason 2: If you reward them, they will come.
This will give you (ANet) all the data you need to make more fair and balanced matchup decisions with little to no change in your current software, instead of relying on algorithms and detached info. You still get money from transfers and your metrics will be higher as everyone will actually want to play. Win/Win. While its not a complete solution, I believe its a step in the right direction.
The extreme of limiting WvW achievement requirements to just 5 events was a wrong move imo as well, compounding the weakened WvW state with even less pugs in lower pop servers. Using moderation in your scale-backs and ramp-ups, will go along way with your player base.

To me the achievement requirements simply went from one extreme to another. Why wasn’t it just throttled back a bit instead of “oh 10 mins should suffice”? The way this weeks matchups are all kittened up, its no wonder people are getting upset. Either way you look at it, its metrics and money that they listen to, so I’m playing my 10 mins this week and not buying from gem store all season.
XD +1 for being spot on and the use of visual aid.
There has been multiple topics already started about this. Here is a main thread about the frustration. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Unfair-matchups-1/first#post4430213
So many threads popping up about the same frustration. This can’t outrage go unnoticed and if it does… shame shame.

HoD here. Wtf. My server hasn’t came in first since Tourny S2(silver). Fast forward; this week we are matched up against Dragonbrand and IoJ. I don’t claim to know all the aspects of matching, but this is kitty kat! Dragonbrand (x-gold 1 of five full servers) against us, Henger of Denravi (a PvE shell of a silver warmachine that hasn’t placed first in 5 months). One of their guilds is close to our entire server population that play in WvW consistently. I know… lets lower the achievement requirements per week this tournament to 1hr’s worth of playtime, that way more people will leave sooner.
If your goal was to loose long term players holding out for the tournament in servers barley keeping their numbers in WvW, congrats. So Disappointed.
ANet has said you are still getting the +MF, but of course, that’s just about impossible for us to verify.
Thank you for the info, I was unaware ANet said anything about +MF buff during boon effects will not show up. I’m not surprised of their response to it though (being too insignificant to fix). Personally I think people need to see the stat change to believe it and well, it should work correctly anyway or be removed. The “it just works” mentality just doesn’t cut it for me anymore.
I run a guardian that likes to give/have boons all the time. The lvl 65 [Chocolate Raspberry Creams] are great for me with the +14% boon duration and +32% MF on top of that. I have never seen an increase of my magic find at any point while under this nourishment. Other MF Food buffs I use visibly change my percent as intended and color to green (to show the base stat was buffed). I believe the MF buff on this food to be broken.
Lucky Dog! I’m a 3 day head start guy myself 2600+ hours and counting. No precursor in sight.

I can’t see anywhere the fact that we have to buy each color separately. Am I reading wrong or apparently they did change from what was announced in the video interview?
Could we get a Red Tag to clear this up?
I searched for this topic too. Of course the search box cuts me off every second letter. I like how nothing was said about the day being incorrect as well as the date. haha
Thanks for the link.
Just a heads up team Anet. “Now through Wednesday August 14 …” Is on your updated Login/Sign in screen. Two problems August 14th is a Thursday and second your web page says “now through August 11, every Black Lion Chest has double…” Wow, which is it? Please clarify.

Don’t worry about it, the way I see it, it’s permanent free stuff.
At least you didn’t say anything about not paying a subscription. I h8 when people say that. I’ve bought enough gems to pay for more than one expansion of new content and happy to support. To Be Clear: I’m not complaining or feel I’m entitled to content, I’m just happy he “didn’t go there”
Back on topic:
I just went through the LS2 E3 with another toon (first one completed) and yes still buggin with Svanir part.
To me (and others above) its not about testing and programming bugs and so on. While the bugs are there (now) a lot of the above comments are simply about a change in format of living stories into open world that is just not needed which caused these sorts of complications in the first place.
Back on topic:
I have reached the Blazeridge Steppes portion of LS2 E3 and only had a minor hiccup waiting for the Svanair dolyak escort to dragon totem thus far.
Agreed CORPG. Although it did have large Kurzick Vs. Luxon PvP battles.
Anyway back on topic..
I haven’t ran into any bugged NPCs as of yet. I restarted the episode.
Its almost as if instances are vital for a good MMO cough Guild Wars 1 cough.
Wasn’t an MMO, and good MMOs before it had no instancing and were also good.
GW1 was an MMO just not an MMORPG (source wiki) It had all instances and arguably the best part about WoW is the Raids also instanced. With instances, challenges like “Hard Mode” (in GW1) can be added and used for a reason to actually replay episodes. This current content will make episodes to replay nothing more than a common world event found in every zone.
(Said this before)
LS2 E1&2 was instanced, had a lot less problems at launch, if something bugs for you just restart and still.. it had open world co-existing beautifully with the story.
Why they wrote LS2 E3 to have the LS1 player mash up debacle is beyond me. It wasn’t because of complaints of needing more open world as this was written undoubtedly even before LS2 begain.
IMO, stick with instances so that challenges like “Masters” or a “Hard Mode” (GW1) can be added and used for a reason to actually replay episodes. I mean look at LS2 E1&2. It was instanced, had a lot less problems at launch, if something bugs for you just restart and still.. it had open world co-existing beautifully with the story.
Why did we go backwards to the LS1 player mash up debacle?Because people complained that everything was instanced and they wanted more open world content.
See the pattern here?
That people are foolish and forget WHY we went away from the stuff like Tower of Nightmares? I hope this reminds them why we don’t need open world stuff, it’s too much of a pain.
Filaha I see the pattern, It’s just that pattern isn’t relevant to the current story content being used and/or implemented as Blix and I are trying to tell ya.
RyuDragnier Very True. After all in the end it just turns into another Zone event hardly worthy of an episode replay.

I doubt very much they rewrote everything back into open world content because people complained too much. With that being said there is no pattern and I find your lack of faith disturbing, Anet does what they want how they planed it. So again I ask, Why go backwards as a planed installment?

… I don’t think he was that bad of a character
Please, we all know hes the JarJar Binks of Guild Wars 2. Although Tybalt comes in a close second for me. Say it, don’t spray it jeesh.
… wait a week and it’ll be more as intended.
So wait till its 1/2 over and it’ll be good, gotcha. OR continue the instanced story line like the first 2 episodes of LS2 and will be fine from launch. Maybe its just everyone in the map talking, but NPCs have been bugged in one way or another since 3:30 EST (personal exp) and I’d bet if it was instanced it wouldn’t be happening. Case in point, the first two episodes.
The title says it all and I totally agree.
Been in multiple instances of Iron Marches over 45 mins, no Wolf. Would be nice to have some insight from a Red post if its an actual bug or we are kitten s.
I wan’t to know what this fine community has in their heads. What are the best features that you can come up with to be added to the game’s upcoming Feature Packs. Lets hear them! Whats on your Wishlist?
Here are some of my favorites (work in progress)
- Saving and Loading Templates: Trait and Armor Setups (Like in GW1)
- Masters and Hard Mode: Challenge for story replays (Also like GW1)
- Raids: More players = more fun
- Armor Type Filter at Trade Post: Heavy/Medium/Light
- Guild Halls: Party time guildies!
- Ranger: Permanently disable pet. Maybe able to spec full Marksman.
- Mesmer Portal Color: Render the first and last portals different colors.

Curious as to where you have seen the numbers/percentages of all active players that lead you to this assumption.
If you’re just talking about the forums…
No not the forumS, just this thread at the time my op. As far as numbers/percentages go, well that’s the idea in having a general consensuses it isn’t exact.. generally speaking, but very unlike your dissension which is fact. In either case my personal stance has changed, but you know that as you undoubtedly read through the entire thread.
I do however still believe (with all my limited research) that the general consensus of the much anticipated new area to start the LS2 (size/amount of content/time of completion) is below expectations. I implore you or anyone else to make a poll link for this thread’s readers to prove otherwise once and for all. I will be checking the *Like box.

Will they leave in this season’s story line embedded into the new areas or remove the playable story at the end like Season 1? (which would be a mistake imo)
In GW1 you had to complete a part of the story in order to progress to the next area giving a goal for friends to focus and come together to complete the mission to get there. It seems like Anet put themselves into a position to do this and I for one hope they do.
Imho they should restrict all upcoming area/zone’s portals from this point on until the player has completed each previous area’s story line as a prerequisite. We should advance through and with the new territories rather than “running” them like rabid dogs shredding all content in our path, only to look at the story line as a side note.
This is the complete map…
So enough area to expand.
For me the “complete area” shown in the screen would have been a more realistic launch area for LS2 to start with, in comparison to the hype. With that said the Magumma Wastelands extend all the way north to Janthir Bay (as played in GW1). The general consensuses is this area to start LS2 is below expectations.
“Gates of Magumma Open July 1st” ~anet … We are still waiting.
Small, small, small… I get it, the accurate size comparison to GW1’s Dry Top, that they probably will open up the new areas by bits and pieces and yes I even understand I do not pay a subscription fee making this “free” content (side note: I do however continue supporting the game having bought multiple copies and continued mini-transaction purchases)
For me it comes down to the “The Gates of Maguuma Open July 1” announcement. That it would in fact grant access to, well .. Maguuma and not just the first little area of it. In GW1 I loved the Maguuma Falls and exploring all the outposts and I was filled with anticipation for the last month to return there today. Sadly it didn’t live up to my hopes. This was going to reignite my passion for PvE and hopefully for friends to return. I just hope this does not drag out over months of Living Story *mini releases to finally see the actual area of Maguuma Wastelands.
Reward Time: I received 500 WvW Claim tickets, Swig of World Experience, WvW items etc. Our server is Henge of Denravi, we are ranked 7th overall and 1st in our league. We came in first every week of the Tournament. I finished the 2014 Meta fast and played nearly everyday. No Dolyak Finisher… sigh* Why?
Ok, just searched for this and seen that months have passed with no update or information. This has to be bothersome to say the least for players other than just myself.
+1
Edit: Workaround~ Move the vendor window with the item you want right over where the “Ok” in the confirm box appears and click like no tomorrow !
*This really needs a shift/alt/ctrl click for multiples purchases.

Forgive me if there is something like this already posted as I checked for a like topic rather quickly…
I have wondered for some time, Why does it show “World Vs. World” on the friend and guild roster instead of Red/Blue/Green World, etc. Countless times I see in guild chat “what world we in?” or a friend that wants to jump in with ya, but can’t get your attention in the chat box. It just makes sense to be more specific or am I way off base here?
Yeah, Try to find a group that will even take a lvl 35 toon now in this “revamp” of a dungeon. This is the first dungeon and you almost have to be 80 to be accepted in a group. I don’t think this was Anet’s intention, but come on.. you really didn’t see this coming?
