What exactly is an exploit?

Exploit
1
: to make productive use of : utilize <exploiting your talents> <exploit your opponent’s weakness>
2
: to make use of meanly or unfairly for one’s own advantage <exploiting migrant farm workers>

Even the dictionary is confused by exploits. Sometimes it’s considered intelligent and clever use of information or skill, and other times considered unfairly using resources to gain advantage. Clearly there are a good number of people more clever than the game’s developers judging by the number of jumps and “tactics” (still not hotfixed and available for use) used to make their lives easier while playing. Perhaps instead of banning, they should consider hiring them to run a test server for them, since they clearly don’t want the major community to test it for them.

Thanks for a genuine and helpful response Haley! I think our issue really was the sparks. I definitely agree it’d be nicer if there behavior was a bit more accurate, but we appreciate any advice!

That’s great news to hear groups undergeared players with blues are taking down Simin. I’d love to hear more about the strategy so that more groups can try and emulate this. I know that our Necro would love to hear ways he can improve, especially in regards to this boss. Thanks!

I really love to have fans but putting trolling aside, you need to run sparks fast enough. There’s no “magical” tricks or tactics.

Don’t tell me you’re worse than anet’s internal testing teams and I honestly doubt they run 4 war+1mes in full zerkers.

Also, in reference to COF; didn’t they nerf two of the three paths in the last patch?

Nerf? They should eviscerate path 1, not making other paths even more faceroll.

Sounds great. We’ll give it a go!

You see that because cof is easy to speed run if you have a full dps warrior team, but a full dps team isn’t required to beat it, which is not the case for simin.

Yes, that’s why I’ve done it in a team with 2 necros (1 with blue gear) and a ranger, right?

Pure disappointment and frustration out of this last path – but I guess that is the mentality of the developers – to only develop what 5% of the game population can pass, right? Mad King jumping puzzle was designed this way – why not this?

Just for the record. I would not compare Mad King jumping puzzle to Simin. Failing on JP was completly independent from profession or spec you are playing. It was also 100% up to you to complete it without the need of proper gameplay from other people. If someone failed to do it, I would say tough luck but that is fine. Simin on the other hand is asking you to fight an uphill battle if you bring sub-optimal party setup and/or if someone in your team performs sub-par. Also Mad King was not “bugged” in any way while on Simin there are several mechanics which sometimes behave in a questionable way. I dont dispute the need for content which is hard. I dispute however if the content is too hard in a way which does not belong to the core concept of the game. Manual dexterity on a jumping puzzle is something that belongs in GW2 by design. Simin does not belong in otherwise rather uniform concept of GW2’s dungeoneering.

It’s actually in reference to the surprise the developer had that people were completing the Mad King jumping puzzle. I can’t find the original quote, but it was something to the effect that they only expected a small percentage of the population to finish it. I’m sure he understands the difference between a jumping puzzle and a dungeon, but I can definitely see a similarity in concept; that only a very small percentage of population are able to complete the given task.

In regards to the mechanics of the boss, we did complete it, only after we lost our necro and replaced him with another high DPS warrior, who was also completely new to the path. It’s just a shame that we’re able to finish every other path of every other dungeon with said Necro, but couldn’t make any headway on this boss. More so for the Necro that didn’t finish the path.

I do feel certain classes get an advantage on the boss with the type of DPS they do, and that the boss definitely encourages you to use a very specific setup. The sparks are infuriating with their bobbing and not pathing remotely into a circle that it’s near. I don’t like luck elements on bosses, and you’re lucky if they bob into those circles quickly.

But it is a developing game, it is a finish-able path, but my only complaint is that it shows favoritism towards specific classes (see gw2lfg.com (ARAH P4 NEED HIGH DPS WARRIOR @ SIMIN).

I hope there are more signs to repair. My guildies and I can’t get enough of fixing those signs. We love interacting with them using our F key, while wearing a quaggan backpack. We also love the title. Keep it up!

Are you still offering this? I would love the opportunity if so. Adding you in game, I’m free for either run. 80 Full Exotic Guardian.

I’m still going regularly. I’m plan on taking a break after hitting my 10k tokens mark which will probably be in about 2 weeks from now.

Awesome, tomorrow night would be excellent for me, if it works for you as well. I’ll send you a message in game! Thanks again, I’m usually the guinea pig for my friends in new dungeons, so this is a great opportunity! I really appreciate it.

If you did either of the previous two events, you’ll be fine. Even if you didn’t, you’ll be fine. I’m glad they implemented a new dungeon type, but it really isn’t related to any of the events.

Summary of the events: Kill karka, and then kill karka, and then kill karka. If you still wish to continue to kill karka, I will assume they will remain the main enemy in the area when the events are done. There are three sizes of karka (four if you include the fetal karka) to kill, and their toughness is equivalent to their size.

Was it worth it?

IMO introducing three different sizes of Karka and having you kill them 3 days in a row is not really event worthy.
Though making them invisible for phase 3 was very clever. It was like watching “Paranormal Activity” on my screen, which I just love that movie, but I was disappointed to find out the things throwing me around were Karka and not some sort of Lost Shores Demon.

Oh well, maybe next event. Until then I hope we armorsmiths can learn to craft Chastity Belts to help keep the Karka-faces at bay.

Token drop rate

At risk of being ripped, I think the drop rate is terrible. I hate WvW, but I really am aiming for my Legendary. Honor Badges and 15G are the last thing I need to get in order to do it. I’m up to 150. I’m spending more time doing WvW than someone that hates WvW should have to (for a weapon skin). They don’t force people that hate dungeons to spend countless hours getting 500 badges for a dungeon. The don’t force people that want dungeon gear to spend nearly as many hours in dungeons to get full sets. It’s a more rewarding system (And the stats are identical, save the trinkets.) I don’t think they’re done tweaking it, and I expect to see changes to the system here soon. I’d imagine if they wanted people to spend more hours in WvW, they might have made more than 2 map designs.

It still happens even if you don’t skip. And not just on Detha, I’ve seen it happen regularly on all 3 paths where the NPC’s fail to proceed to the next event. Happened to us today on Path 1 as well.

I think they’d get more players engaged by making a stronger reward system in WvW. 10 badges for an hour to two hours of game play has got a lot of PVE oriented people sticking to PVE and not even considering venturing into WvW. You end up leaving with nothing but damaged armor and a nice feeling that you’ve wasted two hours of time for nothing.

AC not progressing. Again. Getting pretty fed up.

Esper.7035

I’m surprised they can fit all the bug reports in one forum without it completely overloading. Most of the bugs that I’ve noticed in the game have to do with NPCs, AC definitely being one of the worst because the NPCs are the ones that start the continuance of the path.

I think having NPCs in the game to escort you is a really cool idea. What would be even cooler is if they actually worked at release. Or a month after release. Or two months after release. It’s pretty embarrassing and I imagine the number of bugs in this game is causing players to leave.

I love Guild Wars 2, I think it has excellent execution of a lot of features, but it is by the far the buggiest game I have ever played, especially months after it released, ESPECIALLY the same bugs (AC Explorer being one of the worst).

When it works, it works well, and I love it. I’ve farmed over 1800 badges in AC Expl, and it’s bugged for nearly 400 of them (which we’ve been told can’t be received, you can only get badges if you finish a dungeon. As if it’s our fault we can’t finish the dungeon.)

Badges of Honor Question

in WvW

Posted by: Esper.7035

Esper.7035

I play a heavy DPS Mesmer, and seem to be getting kills very quickly, but I don’t seem to be looting any badges. Maybe 2-4 an hour? I finished my WvW Monthly in the hour, so 50 kills yielded 4 badges.

The absolute only reason I want badges is to finish off my Legendary. I’m not a big PVPer, but I understand it’s part of the process. I feel like the dungeon gear badge system is pretty straight forward and rewards people appropriately. You can spend anywhere between 2-4 hours and come out with 180 badges. If you hate dungeons, at least you’re done in a few days of farming (and don’t have to endure the trolling of jumping puzzle jerks.)

I’m spending 2-4 hours in WvW and leaving with no more than 10 badges on any given day. Is there something I could be doing better in WvW to get badges faster? Any help is appreciated!

Sorry if this is a repeat post, but for the past two days, when we get her into the final Hall, she just stands there. The first night, having her killed allowed us to finish. Tonight, it didn’t and we had to just give up. This seems to be a pattern with escorts triggering in zones. I don’t speak for everyone, but I could live without any NPC’s actually needing to be present. I initially liked the idea of them being present, but after 2 months of them failing to trigger, I’d be happier if I could just enjoy the game.
