My main is a THF. I do D/D and SB. I’m usually the last to die and the one who coordinates and hell of a lot more team-useful skills than most people.
usually 30/30/x/x/x the last few I change depending what I’m doing.
I nearly go full zerker on everything with a blend of runes.
In spite of going full zerker and being specced to do D/D, I don’t blindly D/D like an idiot. I go in for the kill with bosses and spike them down when less than 25% health, I split off of finish trash mobs or things that are getting AoE’d but people aren’t focusing. In spite of high numbers and such, I still will make sure to take Shadow Refuge and Smoke Screen. SS is seriously so awesome between the ability to invis yourself/others if near it with D/D (Situational and a bit sketchy to rely on though), blind with SB all over the place, and block projectiles, which, in fractals, pretty much is the most OP support move people in parties can take.
I find myself often doing a sizable amount of party DPS if that’s all I do, but I take breaks to actually position myself/SS/SR instead of being kitten and attacking all over the place going ZOMG DPSSSSSSSS.
I have to say, compared to war/necro, I have to maintain my attention a lot more to NOT die, considering I pretty much get 1- or 2-shot in 24+ fractals and in some dungeons.
I guess my point is (tldr):
A good thief is very very potent. But a bad thief is a HUGE liability. I like that sort of play. High risk, high reward. So when I see people going “Thf OP nerf plz” they sort of forget that any good player is OP. Good thieves just shine brighter than most…. except maybe good WARs (Or a good mes in PvP). Get rid of their spike, though… and yeah, then there’s really no reason to play ’em anymore in PvE. :/ And a huge increase in situations like this.
steal/pistolwhip/quickness/unload type builds out there, but that D/D thief overpowers and obscures the potential for other builds to rise up. In my eyes they could use some more versatility… I know that when I play my ranger I can many different things at once – I have a large tool box of sometimes very useful tools, and that makes me harder to bring down since I am not so easily countered.
Well this is longer than I was thinking it would be, and now I have subjected the thief forum to my punctuation, so I better stop. Also I’ll admit to being little on edge in this forum… I’m a ranger in the middle of a thieves den!
Well, that’s exactly WHY I made a thief. I want to be able to go the spike damage route. By “adding more versatility” that usually means a nerf to that aspect instead of buffs to other aspects and other ways to build it. People whine because their class does’t do glass cannon as well. Well there SHOULD be one or two classes that do. And if you want that sort of class, play that class!
I’m really sick of these things happening. Is it too much to ask to get things posed in “Announcements” or a new sub-forum like “Upcoming”.
I would really like it if they would post the skins like Rox’s Quiver in the announcements section instead of random websites like Reddit and other news websites to find out early. I check here, from the horse’s mouth as to what’s going to be coming on. I don’t feel like blowing time on websites for MMOs and stuff because I want to validate the source to somewhere on here. It would be really great to either put it in announcements or have a sub-forum that is about “Upcoming” things.
Within the last two days, I just wasted 250 bloods to make an ascended quiver just to find out I could have done the INFINITELY cheaper option of applying the skin to the ascended capacitor. I’m really, really ticked off that there’s no mention of these things early HERE where it should be located, not some third-party website where I can’t always verify things.
It’s a holiday vanity item. You shouldn’t punish people without money and people without in-game money alike. If you don’t have either, then there are other free gaming alternatives you can get.
Make it affordable for most people instead of nobody.
One-time items are not an OK thing to RNG the hell out of; holiday items were always readily available to farm and purchase without this sort of nonsense in GW1.
Your arguments aren’t really valid, because I’m talking more about the non-tradeable, Gems-only, RNG-only minipets. There’s no “gameplay” way to get it, nor is there a TP way to get it.
I’m not saying EVERYTHING should be buyable. But everything should be obtainable somehow. Even if the quaggan you can’t buy, but have to craft. As long as we could buy a minipet pack, that wouldn’t be a problem.
I agree, mostly because Crystal Desert has faced IoJ and FA for the past month and one or two odd weeks and there are a few points that we have no been able to take from one map that is preventing about 5 people I know from getting world completion.
For some stupid reason, each week the map is not being randomized because we’re facing the same servers. Great.
