Map Awareness, you need to look at who is where, where the enemy team is. When someone re-spawns you need to be aware of that and where they might go.

You need to do more then just rotate but predict actions based on what the map tells you. You do not rotate to far if the enemy team just got wiped at mid(unless you are a thief who means to decap it quickly and run) because they will res in a few seconds and kill you quickly.

Stay alive, learn to disengage. Knowing when to disengage is really important. You are not the captain so there is no need to go down with the ship. If you find yourself at mid outnumbered 3-1 you should have an escape option in mind.

Staying alive allows you to try to pick up the loss of your teammates dying by a fast decap. Don’t stay on a point with 2-3 enemy players running towards you, Just let them have it. It takes three seconds to decap and 13 seconds to cap.

Ping the map when you need help or you see three enemies rotating to another point, Let them know 3 inc to mid or something like that.

Target enemies in group fights. Change your target if they are not going down quickly.

How on earth does an obvious bug like that go unfixed for such a LONG PERIOD OF TIME…..

It’s not an obvious bug at all. It changes entirely depending on what roster sizes and player MMRs are in the match. The 10 players are already very similar in MMR before splitting them onto teams, and the ‘best’ player is different every match so its not like one particular set of players was always being affected by this bug. Players still have ~50% win rates. It’s very hard to track down ‘gut feelings’ about matchmaking :P

Luckily we have some powerful tools now to get better global data about how matchmaking is performing that helped lead to the discovery.

Chilling darkness is not my main problem deathly chill/bitter chill became useless in pve and probaly pvp. Apparantly you can’t apply chill if the stack is full meaning you can’t apply your chill on the fully stacked champions.

It should still proc the vuln on bitter chill whenever you apply regardless of the chill stack cap.

It only procs when you chill someone, and if the chill does not happen due to the cap it does not proc.

I tested this on a invulnerable golem with bitter chill traited and the chill sigil on dagger 1. You get three stacks of vuln per chill, I never got past 15 vuln from this alone.

Bitter chill I used to get above 15 stacks of vuln (3 stacks per chill)on the indestructible golem with dagger and chill sigil.

So I tested, now you can not get more then 15, due to the chill stack cap of five. While at this moment this may seem like no big deal…..

They were probably afraid that bitter chill as well would give to much vulnerability to the reaper and if they didnt cap it, between chill stacks from all the reapers chill and access to vulnerability, it would be as always way to OP.

I came onto the forums to rant about this but I guess I’ve been beaten to it. The problem is their new Vuln on chill trait, not chill on blind. If they added the cooldown to that trait instead, it would still grant necros the ability to stack chill nicely but limit their ability to stack vuln so high on their own.

Actually , you can now no longer get more then 15 stacks of vulnerability at a time on the indestructable golem with the Bitter chill trait.

The change to only being able to stack chill 5 times affected this trait as well.

Why is everybody so salty about a trait that almost nobody ever used? It’s not like necro even has that much blind. I guess you could get a lot of chill from plague and well of darkness. So what does that really acomplish except maybe kitten people off cuz they walk too slow?

The real issue is obviously the whole heal nerf. They nerfed an already bad heal, and now they ever so slightly reduced the nerf. It’s still in a much worse state than pre-patch you know that right?

Actually I am pretty sure that lots of people used this build, the chilling on blind especially in WvW.

I myself was using a chill build in PvP to assume that no one was using it when lots of different builds are actually on the table right now is wrong.

I am not happy that we still get vulnerability when healing either, I just think its wrong to minimize something because you dont use it.

It only nerfed vuln stacking through chilling darkness. The stack cap has no effect on bitter chill.

I can’t get on to test it but have you? Can you stack more then five stacks of Vuln? With bitter chill?

Correct me if I am wrong, but, I need clarification here. If, you took Bitter chill, which adds a stack of vulnerability to a target when you chill, and they just capped to five stacks.

Does this not vicariously also nerf this part of Bitter chill as well?

You see I ran a very solid build that used sigils to keep the chill stacks up all the time and high.. as well as the Bitter chill trait to keep vulnerability high as well.

So I can’t test it right now.. but this would mean that I can only put five stacks of vulnerability on at one time.

Chilling Darkness nerf is stupid, no clue who came up with it but they should be fired.

Consume conditions should never have been changed. They can try to be cute with “buffs”, but until they revert the nerf it is still stupid.

Plague change is good, if they made Master of Corruption not bad then it’d be much nicer.

Dhuumfire, Unholy Martyr, Mark of Evasion, Last Rites, and Vampiric Presense bug fixes are nice.

But still, what idiot thought “all these people are complaining about Burning, but you know what’s REALLY OP? Chilling Darkness”.

Yep thats really what it comes down to. Why Chill changes? Why change anything having to do with Chill. All I can figure is that they think it will be to strong when reaper comes out.

This patch changes nothing with the behavior of multiple applications of Chill, rather it reduces the number of applications that can be set to run in order. .

I can’t get in the game right now, but these notes seem like a huge nerf. They seem to read that chill is being changed from a duration stacking condition (like immobilize) to an intensity stacking condition (like bleed).

This is a huge nerf because the extra stacks don’t do anything and because targets will be chilled for less time (and reapers need to hit chilled targets in order for their traits to work).

It’s not a nerf to constant application, but it does nerf burst-stacking, then letting the Chill run its course. If you spread your chills out (which you should, given cleansing), you won’t notice a difference.

I get what you are saying but I am looking at all the chill changes as a whole. Lets start with movement skills. They were changed so that chill and cripple no longer affect them. They even said this will impact the reaper.

Next, lets look at a nerf to how much you can stack chill. They wouldnt be reducing it to five unless it was consistently being stacked above five.

Now lets move on to chilling darkness with affects not just well of darkness but plague (which already has new issues of its own). So now theres an ICD of 5 seconds.

Put them together and no your right overall its minor tweaks to Necro (unless you are like me and really liked chill because my enemies stayed in hitting range and my slow skills would actually HIT them).

But all together this adds up to a larger nerf, that you will really begin to feel when the reaper specialization, which revolves around CHILL comes out. LOL

Exactly what I am upset about. You can only stack five, which means all extra chill is a complete waste. However its okay to have unlimited stacks of burn put on people…

Explain this to me.

Also I have been playing necro a long time I know they do these things, however! This one honestly caught me off guard, I never expected them to zero in on chill. It makes no sense.

I see this, coupled with the Chilling darkness change, coupled with the change to movement impairing affects not affecting leaps ect as one big nerf.

Why would you nerf a specialization before its even been released. How do they know how necro reaper will stack up against the new class and the other specializations. They really don’t.

The outcry over, burning damage, mesmers stunlock/daze/confusion, stealth lacking counterplay, and warrior rampage has been resounding and constant.

No one has been yelling about necro chill. I am always taken by surprise with these things, I guess I really shouldnt be.

I am having a hard time justifying reaper now before it even came out? Between the change to movement impairment (ie chill and cripple dont work on people leaping away from you.)

Only allowing five stacks of chill..

Why would I want to play a class that has a main staple of giving out chill?

I mean, is the damage going to be really amazing? I am so lost. Even for my normal necro I hate that chill has been affected it is one of the few things I had in my kitten nal.

I just want to know, who was complaining about Necromancers and chill! Of all the conditions! Why was it our chill!

I embarked on a similar WvW project starting back in Aug. 2014 and called it “Wandering the Shards of Tyria”. My goals were to visit T1 NA, T8 NA, and an EU server. I didn’t write about it much, instead I made videos that tried to capture something of each server and/or tier that I visited and I tried to learn maybe about how others solve or deal with the same WvW issues. In the end, I feel the project said a lot more about my personal interests in WvW (open world PvP) than about the different communities.

Like the idea and interested to see how it plays out.

I am keeping my diary style entries and going to do a pie chart report at a later time. I am looking for the unique things for each server I visit as well.

I still invite anyone with an extra account to join me as the project seems to be growing. At this time I know that Arena net is watching and interested in it.

The whole thing seems to be growing fast. My guild is enjoying our stop here on this server but I know for the sake of this project we must move after the time is up.

On low population server is it always nice to see new faces in WvW. Jump in and have fun.

You will discover the WvW dynamics are very different than in high tiers. Individuals and community events have great impact on the score.

Just few things:

  • Limit your participation to 15 members and at prime time only.
  • Make it clear from the start that your guild will be leaving in 1 month.
  • Do not recruit members from the server.
  • Show no disrespect to the guilds or the community on the server.

First off I started on a rank 24 server. So I have a clear view on the problems they faced. However! They have changed so much since I was down in this tier and that is part of what I wish to highlight and the new challenges that have unfolded.

As much as I would like to comply with all those requests,(they do make sense) we can not WvW at prime time due to our nature as late night NA/OCX folks. Timezones man.. I get why you are concerned about us helping or tampering with the match to make them do better, but the truth is we are not regular enough or defensive enough to make that sort of difference.

I really appreciate the well wishers and the thoughts and suggestions you have given.

Seems like what u intend is a sort if support network to shuffle players around as needed. I also see the potential of learning from shared experience within the guild. How much of an active role do u anticipate for your guild?

In a sense, the shuffling not as much, we aren’t trying to match fix or anything.

Its more like, a franchise. We go in start running, (HAVE FUN MOST OF ALL)highlight the server, meet people on it build a group and recruit that group to stay and keep the ball running. Then to the next server. Then we may rotate back to give support/extra help to what we started.

Its a vision of growth for ourselves and the servers we foster. I have been on a server that moved from low bronze to high silver. I have been on T1 gold tier.

I really appreciate the support and discussion please if anyone has suggestions or you are on a lower tier bronze server and want to discuss further! Please message me!

P.S. as a mega server guild we have already had to deal with the spy accusations, and in general had a few people on opposing servers from time to time. We don’t allow the spy thing or condone it as it just childish and waste of everyone’s time. People on opposing servers aren’t something we recruit for but in this current genre of guild wars2 it happens just from mega servers as we do alot of other things in PVE and PVP. We use our own TS and we aren’t getting on to server forums because its not info we need to do what we are doing. People that want to work with us will work with us in game and we are always happy to do so.

I completely understand what you are saying. I had already thought about leaving the servers in better shape then when we came.

Our guild is truly a Mega server guild, in that we have players on SEVERAL WvW servers. My intent is to build what you might consider an outpost of our guild on some of these servers, get the moral up and the ball rolling, I am not going to encourage people on these servers to switch servers, I am going to encourage them to stay be part of our guild and build a faction of us there, that we will visit from time to time.

We aren’t here to harm these servers but I know some wont believe that. Also, I intend to write an actual report and track our progress and hopefully present something useful in regards to what its like to be on these servers, whats unique about them and what WvW at these levels is like.

I currently only have 10 or less people doing this, our guild may grow but not by transferring people off these servers, by giving them the support they need on these servers to build.

Hey guys I am working on a WvW project with my guild. We will be visiting the lower tier servers for a set amount of time and running in WvW. Our goal is not to troll but get a feel of what it is like down at this tier, the positives and negatives and see the differences between each server.

Why am I doing this? I am compiling a report about it and have plans for new ideas in the future with it.
