I like how DBL has polled way above 50% every time, but people still say the majority dislike it.

Probably because a majority of those 50% will still refuse to play on it even if they voted to keep it.

Either way you really dont even need to bring in percentages to know the facts. Just look at the kill statistics. Desert has nowhere near the activity of any given alpine border (which in turn will be nowhere near EB).

This. Each week people vote on which map they would like to play on and the Desert Borderlands consistently has the lowest activity (kills/deaths) of any map, by a considerable margin. That is the vote that should really count.

This. Enough said. Where are those voters voting to keep DB? Plain simple those voters were pve redditors. Statistics speak for itself. No amount of white knighting can cover your ‘silent majority’ false fact into reality.

If DB is to become viable, they need a complete ‘WvW Overhaul’ that map i.e reducing the size of the map, towers are strategically placed across the map. I’m talking about MAJOR overhaul, not tiny improvements like bloodlust and jumping pads that are making the experience redundant because then Alpine doesn’t need jumping pads, it just proves DB is a huge unnecessary map to begin with. No amount of tiny improvements can pull back the WvW players (backed by map statistics) to DB.

And no amount of ‘change of taste’ or ‘refreshing change’ from Alpine map silly excuses to cover the tiny amount of players playing in DB.

But oh yes it is just going to be another shattered dream for WvW to become great again. No seasons etc all said nope by Anet, in reality there is no WvW team at the moment, that is the open secret judged by the snail pace development of WvW compared to other modes.

With how much WvW players complain you guys should be thankful ANet continues to even work on WvW honestly. You complain when you don’t get stuff implemented and you complain when new stuff is implemented.

The problem is that it’s not stuff we want or even asked for! And the most important thing is that none of the updates improve or fix any of the problems in WvW! So spending time of the DBL is a waste of time cos only a minority even like the map, the majority would rather see it gone and replaced with another proper WvW BL.
And people like you who go around spouting that we should be thankful for scraps off a dinner table are not helping and obviously are not real WvW players, cos then you would understand.

I do play WvW. But the problem remains with the players like the ones in this thread. You say that Anet is focusing on stuff that the players didn’t ask for, yet ANet is doing exactly what the player asked for. ANet removed DB, and then players asked for it back. There were a decent amount of people asking for bloodlust to be placed in DB to match the alpine borderlands, and ANet put bloodlust in DB. People continuously whine about DB so ANet has worked on improving the map. People asked Anet to focus on scoring changes first instead of core game mode changes, so ANet focused on scoring changes first. ANet is doing what players asked them to do. Just because you personally didn’t want it doesn’t mean ANet isn’t listening to its players.

Could the updates be coming faster? Yes, I hate how slowly WvW is updated. Absolutely hate it. But that doens’t change the fact that players like you kitten on Anet regardless of what they do to the game mode. You tell them you hate DB and kitten on them for bringing it in, then you go and kitten on them for trying to make it better. Like it or not, the playerbase voted to keep the borderland in, its not going away. So at least be thankful ANet is trying to make it more fun to play on for everyone. But no, that’s apparently too hard. So all players like you do is kitten on Anet for everything that they do.

Is it a big surprise as to why they don’t like developing stuff for WvW? Is it?

No no no those who voted to keep DB are those pve redditors who don’t even reach 1k hours of WvW, they clicked the link in reddit and fancied their votes would actually count for the survival of WvW but instead they are killing it. They go like “Ahh DB is kinda nice for a refreshing change,” but all the seasoned veterans though some do have a niche for DB KNOW that the map is huge, gloomy, too much choke holds (excuse is tactical reason LOL) etc, that map is the heart of THORN for WvW. Don’t believe me? That map is dead for most timezones because most people would just go to EB and Alpine bl first before having to be dragged on there by Team chat call out for help by some lonely WvWers. That’s some reality for you.

We don’t want DB to be in their priority improvements. Just remember of the resounding massive approval for WvW when Alpine was brought back but then Anet just went about clueless after that, we din’t ask for DB to be in their top list and this is what the previous posters above meant.

Zenral, you must know before portraying me as a bandwagonner, I’ve been in a specific server for nearly 3 years now I just don’t see any REAL & CREDIBLE argument to morally blame bandwagonners. If Anet is to implement these supposed suggestions, they will be killing the fun of many WvWers as well. Why should Anet force guilds and players to be stuck in a server just to serve these supposed ‘server community’s interests? Why should players be punished for moving servers and given excessive amount of fees if they are to move again? Why should guilds have to obey to some people who think they are the ‘server community’? Why should a guild alliance numbering in the hundreds have to listen to some people crying in map chat about ‘server community’?

Sure, server communities do exist, but players and guilds with different interests also exist too. You call them as bandwagonners, but some call them finding where the fun is and seeking fresh challenge. SFR server fell because some people/guilds moved away and some just went inactive. Did the guilds listen to some/few people who took pride in their server? No right? Because why would they? Some guilds just take the guild comes first approach. And I don’t blame them for doing so.

So is there really any REAL & CREDIBLE blaming accusation against these supposed ‘bandwagonners’? If you are crying over imbalanced fights, then say hello to WvW reality. It was never gonna be balanced. Some servers will always get new transfers, some don’t, like it or not

And Zenral, your point of mentioning about people getting less fights and fewer people is exactly making people leave your server. Why should people stay in a server when there is no fights? No way you are going to ask people to stay and build with you, nobody has time for that. Many players seek instant fun (people especially ‘server community people’ need to accept this fact). WvW is where people have fun, not doing a secondary job. Like it or not

Anet making money from server transfer or not is not the issue, if they want to keep it thats fine, im just giving a suggestion.

Your ‘imagined community’ can be selfish too for making people stick to you when they have lost their fun in a particular server. Anet will not be able to do what you guys are suggesting, countering bandwagonners and such to the very detail.

People can play however they want, wherever they want. No in-game community can block/stop any player from playing WvW the way they want to play, no matter how big or small your community is.

How do we really define what serves the greater number in WvW? Don’t speak as if you are representing the whole WvW community, there are LOTS of different players out there who don’t even care what you are trying to campaign because countering bandwagonning is just as bad as giving more restrictions to other players to move servers.

There are lots of players who are moving between the servers, who are you to say these players as ‘minority’ who are not entitled to get the same freedom Anet is giving to all gw2 players in WvW just the same as you ‘server community’ people are.

Call me however you want, but these suggestions of countering bandwagoning will just undermine the very essence of freedom Anet is giving to us ALL. Not just to some people who are claiming to be speaking on behalf of ‘server community’, its just purely Anet’s policy not give special treament to a supposed ‘imagined community’

Jana, that is just our view on a particular guild on the actions they make in WvW. It might be biased, for them its seeking fun, for some of us it is destroying fun. Who are we to say and telling them how to play WvW? If we are to do that, aren’t we just destroying their fun in WvW? So if a particular guild wants to move or stay, thats up to them.

Remember, WvW is for all, not only for you or me or some particular guild.

And let us always accept a fact that whenever a guild or some guilds move between the servers, communities will always take a hit by it. So its up to the communities to adapt to the changes, not crying about it.

We will never be able to find the perfect balance for server population, hell its been 4 years Anet cannot give a perfect answer for this supposed ‘dilemma’. Its never been a dilemma, its a dilemma we just want to believe in. Some people in a particular server will stop playing causing an imbalance in their population cap, but the system still sees these players as active participants in WvW activity for a brief/long time (We don’t know, only Anet knows).

Thats why from my own experience in a Full server for a long time, our WvW is pretty much dead in SEA/Oceanics whilst other competing servers have the numbers in those timezones, including EU. We cannot recruit because of the server status for a long time, how did we solve this? Nothing, we just got ktrained during off hours. How do we solve this?

You can say all you want to restrict players not to ‘bandwagon’, but you are actually being selfish in your own bubble of ‘server community’. If Anet is to restrict a guild to a particular server and add consequences to their guild halls… then Anet is undoing their ‘casual’ approach in all their game modes. Why would pve guilds enjoy so much freedom in their realm while us as WvWers have to pay so much cost to transfer or enjoy a game mode that WE seek, we don’t want your selfish ‘community’ heroes to restrain other players from enjoying WvW however they want.

Some people don’t care about servers falling apart, when a server falls apart, people just naturally seek the challenge elsewhere, or they become the server white knights seeking to rebuild… its their choice. Either they go up or down the tiers, its their choice. Not dictated by you.

Making WvW to become more restricted will just make this game mode die even faster. Thats why I suggest Free transfers back in 2013, a casual mode, just like Anet intends it to be… and for us to finally ACCEPT it as it is.

I think the problem is not the bandwagoners, the problem is people thinking bandwagoning is a problem. Let us all try accept a fact that Anet is only treating WvW mode as a casual play for all of us, so now we NEED to accept it too.

If we are so determined to raise the cost of server transfer, have you ever thought on the unforeseen consequences of this action? How are people going to transfer their friends to the server they want to play together? How are communities going to be able to recruit new blood into their server/community? Hell some full servers are dying now because some guilds became inactive but they’re still holding the population quota making it impossible to recover the numbers back.

I think we need to stop blaming and throw away the negative stigma of bandwagoning in wvw, let us open back the server restrictions and server costs. Make WvW back in 2013 where server transfers are FREE! Let people freely move between servers, if some guilds wish for small-medium fights, they can go to lower tiers. If some people seek for large scale fights, go for higher tiers. You cannot please all WvWers if we are to lock and restrict it as it is now, there are many kinds of WvWers out there. Please, don’t try looking this whole situation just trying to protect your little server community!

If some people would like some break from large scale fights and go to another server, let them! But with the current pricing, people can get stuck in a server. So what do they do? Since many won’t bother spending hundreds of gold or $20 for just a pathetic server transfer, they just go into Pve or pvp. Or worst, they stop playing the game.

Seriously please reconsider changing the reset schedule. I’m from SEA and when the reset happens it’ll be SUNDAY already for us. Friday has always been excellent. Don’t need to elaborate further because other OCX/SEA have already voiced out their opinions thoroughly but I’m just here to further strengthen OCX/SEA’s ‘minority’ voice.

Blackgate and SEA player here, din’t suffer massive lags during reset but it started 2 days ago 3/08/2015 even 15v15 fight resulted in rubberbanding and game freeze. Checked all my connection it is not from my end, everyone complained lag in the map and in TS. Korean and Australian players also reported massive rubberbanding last night in EB and BGBL during medium encounters too. Anet servers are getting fried really bad.

Have to say this is the worst lag I have ever experienced in my WvW experience. The supposed build that was meant to ‘fix’ some but not all of the lags just made it more laggy.

In the past, the lag would only occur during massive encounters between zergs but that was only for seconds or a few minutes maximum. Now, every encounter even in medium size fights around 15v15 have already resulted in rubberbanding all over the place or even freeze the game, everytime! That build is not a fix, it is adding a more damaging bug into WvW. I suffered unplayable lags after the latest patch and no, it is not from my connection problem, my ping to google is relatively stable 20ms. So it is from your side Anet, your server.

And yes, majority of all these lag complaints started after Anet’s introducing new stability reworks and there was never a cure for it since then, since March. And now, it is already August. 5 months without a fix and it is getting worst with every ‘fix build’ patched.

Should Omega Golem Be Nerfed?

Want to know why multiple omega golems + a blob zerg is OP? They make T3 waypointed keeps defense useless and capping it in a matter of minutes, with scout having to run responding to all gates and walls to check their presence taking the precious seconds away by having to confirm to the main force on other maps etc.

Do you know how much time and dedication we have to give for T3 keeps? It takes hours! And there comes the jealous foes with zergs and omega golems taking it away in a matter of minutes, immense difficulty in taking down those omegas.

Hence, this is why I believe omegas with huge zergs is OP, they can melt gates in less than a minute without having a way to counter it when sieges are already taken out by the omegas on the wall.

PLUS with eles pressuring meteors and mesmers pulling you on the walls, odds are stacking up against defenders. Think about it anet.

solved: stealth bug via black powder and HS

Applying black powder and using heartseekers to gain stealth is currently bugged for me, after gaining stealth via first heartseeker I used another heartseeker on the blackpowder to gain an increase time of stealth duration but the SECOND attempt did not increase the stealth duration though I successfully HS it on the black powder and it even showed another ‘stealth’ sign on the screen, thus leaving me short only with 3 seconds of stealth instead of 6 seconds whatsoever.

I asked my friend to monitor my stealth duration when performing the acts and he noticed the bug or failure to gain the increase duration stealth time too. He is a thief too and performed the same thing but the bug did not occur to him.

I’m a using a thief, asura, female. Happened in wvw and pve maps.

Anyone else having the same problem?

Note: I can say 80% of these attempts did not increase my stealth time.

Whatever you guys have suggested, its still an awful lot of failures we have gone through the balthazar event, or even grenth for that fact. Anet needs to know and appreciate the time spent and work we have done in the pre-event which could take from 20 to 40 mins. When the real event started, the morale instantly dropped when those aoes are in full swing and the npcs are just stupid to dive straight into it… and it failed…. plenty of times….. and I mean PLENTY OF TIMES!!!!

All the hard work and time simply vanished in an instant, and thats the huge disappointment that really crushed our desire to retry it for weeks or even months to come. Cheers anet, I wish you guys are reading this and take serious consideration on this matter. We don’t need another specific class such as ele to become the key in solving the Veterans issue, we don’t need the new ‘trinity’ gameplay in this game! I hope you guys can understand what I am trying to say here.

I personally dislike the suggestions of class composition of guardian warriors ele and mesmer (zerker and condition builds), it just makes the game geared towards a specific group of people that can finish it but others cant.

What about other classes like rangers engineers necros thieves with different builds? I do agree in some sense we do need a class composition and builds but if we’re just seeing a limited trend of it then congratulation you just made TA f/u the new CoF p1 4 warriors 1 mesmer (or a guardian) build that was once used for gw2’s gold farmers. Many people were rejected for not being zerker warriors, mesmers and guardians.

All I am saying is we need more diversity of approaches, its clear it cant be done by many people, we voice out our concerns but these elitists come and portray us as complainers or whatsoever.. cheers elitists you should accept and understand that there are people in this forum who are probably new players, players who have limited sets of armor builds, players who rarely farm paths but probably go for some other goals like getting tokens for the sake of skin armor/stats.

Golems: Game breaking?

I think having 10 golems rushing in with multiple time warps is putting defenders at a disadvantage, yes there are many instances that golem rushes failed, but there are also MANY golem rushes proved to be very destructive.

I have seen so many times golem rushes were successful within a few minutes with the correct timing and planning (be it me as being the invader or defender), and personally i feel its game breaking. Defenders spent a lot of TIME, SUPPLY & MONEY to upgrade towers/keeps and they lose it in a matter of minutes??

To get golems, players could also get it from JP chests if they’re lucky enough and pass it to someone, so that notion of spending 5g for 5 golems isn’t entirely true. Even more so, a group can just flip camps all around the map and build golems then get teleported to somewhere safe.

Waypoints get contested, people have to run back which takes a few minutes to reach. The attackers choose their moments to attack, but dozens of defenders won’t just sit in a keep/tower all the time to anticipate a golem rush. The LEAST defenders can do is to have scouts, but thats just really useless when the scout is the ONLY one defending the objective by shouting at team chat “GOLEMS!!! 8 OF THEM!!!”. Honestly, is that fair enough?

Come on, its getting old. People want to have fun from both sides, attacking and defending. I’d say to myself “that was a good fight” when we lose/take a keep after a hard long battle involving running supplies etc. But that epic feeling isn’t felt when defenders lose their fully upgraded keeps within a matter of minutes due to golem rushes, its just anger and rage, and invaders are laughing due to the fact that defenders were “tactically inferior”.

Of course we as competing people want the initiatives and advantages, but 7-10 golems rushing in and chewing the gates isn’t REALLY fun. Sure we get people who would like to defend this golem rush tactic, but I’m deeply concerned by it. I rest my case.

Tried both paypal and debit card, none worked. It says ‘An error occurred in finalizing your purchase’ for paypal, and ‘card approval failed’ for debit card. I successfully bought something else from paypal. So clearly its something to do with guild wars 2 or my account or the purchasing process is bugged!
