What? how are you people happy with this?? you are paying 50 bucks AT least cause I know some of you WILL get the other options, and then all they are giving you back is something worth 10$??? No, that seems cheap. If you were giving out a free legendary or something NOW THAT seems more like something to pay us,veterans, back for the support WE HAVE given you Anet. Not some lousy character slot.

What’s wrong with a freebie being worth $10 with a base purchase of $50? That’s basically what new players will be receiving as well, and now everyone will be receiving different but fair benefits.
Also, are you aware of what legendaries are valued at in USD?

They won’t add harder content because new/casual players would have hard time clear it / or join any party/raid because 90% of the people wants exped only already to every path. So Anet will make dungeons that is possible to clear with all beginners that have mediocre skills.
I don’t see why they couldn’t give the raids a selection of difficulty ratings that could be voted on by the group. Normal and…Veteran? Hardcore? Elite? Whatever they wanted to call it, but I don’t see any reason in having more than two difficulties. (IF they made the harder rating actually hard.)
I know GW2 isn’t like other MMOs, but raid content is a great way for Guilds to interact with each other and build on their own abilities and skill.
(I want to add that I realize the likelihood of raids being implemented any time soon is extremely low, but there’s no reason not to discuss it.)

I would also love content that required 10, 15, or 20 man groups. GW2 already does scaling, so I think that this could work well. (With the content becoming harder with the more people we have in an instance, of course…)
Basically – bigger, badder dungeons. Bigger, badder boss fights. (Mechanics are getting more engaging for boss fights, aren’t they? (Marionette, the knights and hologram fights during the LA invasion, VW – I’m not saying they’re “hardcore”, but definitely more engaging than previous mechanics.) I would love to see more of that (and harder versions of that) for raids! And MULTIPLE bosses per raid!
Maybe add in some of those pesky puzzles we have in guild missions (where people have to execute an action at the right time or place an object in the proper location).
These are definitely things that I would love to see in the future.

There’s a lot to read here (and everywhere else on the forum about the expansion), so I apologize if I repeat what others may have said.
I think the pricing is fine, but I do feel that a character slot should be mandatory for an expansion with a new playable class (or race if that comes about in the future). Period. So far, nothing has been able to convince me otherwise. (Is there a limit to how many character slots you can have? If so, ANet should make the restriction for the number of character slots you can BUY, but not the overall number of slots that are permitted. Please, let me know if this doesn’t make sense.)
I think that the core game should be delivered in the form of a code that can either be tossed or given away to a friend/relative/random stranger. (Someone in LA map chat said that when they purchased their expansion that the core game code WAS separate. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me, please? Pretty please?)
I also feel that veteran players should receive something of note…but I don’t have any substantial ideas. (Honestly, this isn’t a big concern for me.) Furthermore, what makes a player a “veteran”? Just having the game? Purchasing it within the first year? Having a toon of a certain age? Should the person who bought the game the day before the pre-order be given the “veteran” items/content?

Ohnonono, I was speaking to the people who are having issues with female toons (or any toon) running around without top armor. I am in favor of hiding them. I just don’t see why it’s such a big deal when female armor can be so revealing on its own.

Haha, I understand your woes. I was in a hurry to create this account (I was very excited about the head-start), so I just used the name of my main in WoW. I don’t think I realized that everyone in their mother would see it.
I just joined a new guild and everyone always calls me “Fany” first. I die a little every time, tbh. XD However, I’ve found that if you politely ask them to call you something else (especially if it’s easy to remember – like your character name) then people are generally happy to oblige.

The whole thing is documented crazy badly. You have no idea what to do when you get there, that Charr doesn’t give you any new information and you have to ask others what to do. I’ve gathered so far I have to kill some wolf somewhere and I’ve killed one other champion. Can’t this information be delivered to you by the game itself?
No, they want us to discover stuff organically. Or in other words, that’s the excuse they’ll use for spotty patch notes.
actually there wouldn’t be much of a problem if it worked. just run to the green star. going by the dialogue before I guess we have to help the NPC at that location and then talk to her to find out where the next location is(when I arrived I could just talk to her without anything happening). you really just have to actually read what the NPC’s are telling you.

It doesn’t, however, and that’s the problem that’s preventing people from moving on.

Not here. Between not being able to interact with the flamethrower barrel (which I assume is the next action you’re supposed to take) and enemies/animals running around with guild tags, I’m pretty sure it’s bugged.
You can only interact with the barrels once the event starts, and one of the ANet peeps in game just said that the events are not resetting. Hopefully, it gets fixed soon. QQ

I’m still incredibly excited about this update, and so far the town clothes issue is the only thing that upsets me to the point of wanting a refund. Other than that, though, I’m interested in seeing how this will all work out on its release.

If I’m not going to be able to wear the outfits I have now, then I’m going to want a full refund for all of them. Period. I bought them with the knowledge that I could mix and match them, and you are now changing that on me. That is unacceptable.
I would not have bought town clothes if they were like this from the beginning.
What’s funny is that…I’m not even mad about buying multiple armor skins because I’ll still be able to use those skins as intended. However, now, I may have to deal with an unwanted combination because you guys decided to get rid of the town clothes system.

What I don’t understand is why this is an actual issue for some people…
If you made two 1h legendaries, then you should be aware that your two original creations are still 100% unique in the fact that you can change their stats at any time.
Only the people who 1) spent the time to create the legendary or 2) spent a ridiculous amount of money will be able to use the skins. It’s like an extra reward for being so patient…what’s the dealio?
If they ended up making the legendaries account bound rather than soulbound would you still be so ticked? People could just stick them in their bank when they go to hop onto a different character and, VOILA!, a second character is a special little snowflake too…right?
Is it the fear that a lvl5 character will be running around with Bifrost or, god forbid, Eternity? What would that even matter? It’s still the creator/buyer of a legendary.
Is it the fear that the prices of the legendaries may decrease? You’re not going to be selling yours, so what’s the problem?

In my experience, you don’t have to shell out a ton of gold to get what you want in this game. I wanted amorsmithing to 500 from 0, and it only cost me 47g because I was too lazy to go out and get the rest of the things I needed.
I’m currently making ascended armor for my guardian. It has cost me a grand total of 3g and some silver so far, and that’s just because I needed a soldier’s insignia.
Because I do my dailies and monthlies religiously, I had enough to buy amulets and some accessories for two characters. My ascended rings came from fractals.
All the mats and things I’ve gathered for Bifrost? I went out into the world and nabbed them myself (or some very generous people gifted me with their unwanted left overs here and there). (Granted, you still need 100g to finish this one, but over the course of collecting your mats you’re bound to make the money.)
All in all, you don’t have to spend gold to get what you want. ANet has made it very possible for those of us who can’t farm gold to still be able to get the things we want. We just have to put a little sweat into it, and there’s nothing wrong with working hard for what you want.
But, maybe I’m just patient. Maybe I know the game isn’t going anywhere, so I don’t need to rush like there’s a finish line to get to. I try to take it all one step at a time.

I understand the general idea behind all that, I might even see that the knights’ rewards are kind of the ‘bonus’, since you can skip to the Scarlet instance with a backpiece, I just think the executing is pretty sloppy.
I did like that we could skip all of that, but I also really liked the battle against the Knights and the Holos. I thought it was major fun (though, I know others don’t agree). Now, we may not be able to get to the Holos.
I’m not saying that splitting up isn’t going to work for everyone, but technically 50 people is still a zerg. It’s still zerging. It’s just smaller than what it would have been for some servers.
I know some people are saying that it’s supposed to be like the marionette and yadda yadda… I liked the marionette event, too. My server also never beat it (to my knowledge) because we just don’t have enough people to split like that. I’m going to be very disappointed if this sort of mechanic continues to be implemented on such a large scale.

I want to apologize for not replying to this last night – I didn’t even see it until I re-read the entire thread this morning. My server never beat all three nights with just 25 people (while I was there). The only times we beat it was when we zerged over all of them.
To those who are saying it is possible to defeat all three knights using 25-30 people per knight: that’s 75-90 people participating in the fight. Some servers, like mine, don’t even have that many people interested in this event any more. We had more before people got their meta, but now that the event has gotten into it’s third day… People don’t care any more. Loots not that great, and the mechanic is annoying. Why should they keep playing?
To the people who are saying that it’s easy with fewer people: you have to take into account that sometimes – yes – you do get some great people who pay attention and listen and do their best to achieve maximum results, but most of the time you’ll probably have a dozen or more pugs that are running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Although we do try to inform everyone of the mechanics before and during a fight, it just doesn’t always pan out.
Loot Drops: Last night before I logged, my server did the 50 man zerg. We managed to kill one knight just as time ran out, and we received one chest. I got 6 Deluxe Gear Boxes and two cores.

You spend 15 minutes on a knight and because you had less DPS than the others, you can’t kill it and therefore get NO LOOT. How is that okay, Anet?
Because you played the way THEY wanted you to! That’s the whole point, right?
They designed this event with the belief that players would split up and attempt to take down the knights at the same time, but the players found a more effective way to work together and get the job done.

I like the challenge, BUT, having the blue insta-heal after green and red go down only makes me want to avoid it like the Marionette. I did some of my achievement for that too, but never went back.
Are you allowing the menders to get to the knight? They heal the knights and the cannoneer.

I guess if it gets to the point that you do kill 2 of them and then still have time to kill the 3rd and have more than 50 people, some of them can take a break and sit on the sidelines and they will still get paid for all 3 dead if you kill the 3rd.
Make sure to have any up leveled players to sit on the sidelines.
It’ll be difficult, though. People don’t like being put on the sidelines, and some people just aren’t paying attention enough to get out of the way.

We didn’t defeat any of the knights. One of them was nearly dead. One possibly at 75-80%. One only had 5 players working on it.

On my server, we don’t even have 25 people at some times. We’re lucky if we kill one and manage to get to the next one before the time limit is up.
So why don’t ye all guest to another server? (this should already be an option in events like this to see full/empty maps..)

Heck all low pop servers should pick one that ye all join up to, once it becomes the norm …people will go there automatically a few days into the event.
There’s no harm guesting you know.Desolate is generally where people go in EU, it could do with another server people go to when deso gets full. But it’s a way.
Unfortunately anet hasn’t created anything for low pop servers, guesting IS their way of solving the issue, so use it.
Because why should I do that? I might as well just change servers if I have to continuously guest to do events that prevent my server from beating an event the way we’ve found that works best for us.
Also, every server has its own personality. I like my server. I’m familiar with the active people. I enjoy it. It’s great, and I enjoy chanting my server name for giggles. :/ Guesting takes a lot of the fun out of it for me. It’s like being in a stranger’s home.

I think they mean that those who have participated with whatever knight will get their corresponding loot. So… Help with Red and Green? Get Red and Green loot… Maybe? I don’t know.

I know the zerg method isn’t everyone’s ideal when it comes to fighting the knights, but I feel this is ignoring the whole “play how you want” thing. Not to mention that it’s already extremely hard for some of us to beat all three knights within the time limit (though, I know this isn’t the case for everyone).

So, I wasn’t getting loot either – but I was trying to loot the body. With the large number of people standing around, I was never able to see the chest until everyone ran off and I was left by myself. Since then, I’ve gotten loot every time.
I’m also not doing that much damage as I spend most of the fight giving directions/answering questions/helping the downed.
Oh, so it could be a too many people trying to pick up loot at the same time issue, not that they are not dropping….

I don’t personally feel it’s that big of a problem.
It only cost me 47g and some silver to get from lvl0 to lvl500 in Armorsmithing because I took the time to gather my mats rather than spend an unnecessary amount of gold. I would like to point out that I’m probably the slowest at everything in this game, and I rarely have more than 50g at a time. I also can’t spend a dumb amount of time (imo) on these things because I have a child who takes up a lot of my time. (So, even if I’m logged in, I’m probably not there.)
It only cost me 2g for lvl400 in Chef, and it only cost me 5g for lvl400 in Artificer.
I’m currently working toward two (!) sets of heavy ascended armor and Bifrost.
In the end, how much gold you spend is entirely dependent on how quickly you want to get your results/how much time you can spend grinding/gathering.
You’re not being punished. It would be unfair to make an easier work around for those people who have spent the time/money on their crafting professions.
As someone pointed out, there are back pieces that don’t require crafting. Some pretty sweet ones, actually. And, as someone also pointed out, the difference between Exotic and Ascended armor is very minimal. It doesn’t really matter if you have this armor equipped or not when in WvW either (imo), unless – in some crazy universe – you come across someone with the exact same play style/ability as you and they win only because they have a tiny bit more of whatever stat you have.

Holy hell, that’s crazy! I’m always amazed at seeing these numbers because my sad little shout guardian can barely paper cut someone. LOL.
The buff allows you to damage the holo, but I’m not sure if it allows you to do extra damage in this particular fight. (I’ll actually pay attention to the buff next time and see if it says anything about that.) Either way…whoa. o:

Some minis and an eye patch? How do these hurt the game or cause you disinterest?

I think they are working as hard as they can to fix the bugs. They already fixed the attunement pool bug, and – if the update above is any indication – I assume they are working to fix this, too.
Maybe they should release these Living Story updates when they’re ready, rather than when they’re do?
I don’t exactly understand programming or how to implement it, so I’m not exactly sure what kind of answer you’re wanting from me.
Yes, it would be nice to have bug free content. However, considering that I’ve never played a game or a game patch that hasn’t been bugged in some way… I can’t honestly say how likely that would be.
The patch hasn’t even been out for 24hrs, so I don’t feel that things are going badly. Are there bugs that have prevented progress? Yes. However, I feel the team is doing their best.
I don’t feel the need to be unnecessarily grumpy or aggressive over something that I cannot personally fix or have any power over…and, yes, I fought the Knights several times without attunement pools popping before the fix was implemented (so I understand the frustration);.

The gem store items are cosmetic or allow you to gather/gain exp in one thing or the other faster. Why, exactly, is this bothering you?
EDIT: Isn’t this also the only part in the patch notes that mentions the gem shop?

You need about 900-1,000 ish blade shards to go all the way to ascended.
With the patch notes, they said that Aetherblade all across Tyria will drop blade shards. I don’t believe they will drop them constantly, but it’s still a possibility to get them. (Just as it wasn’t a guarantee for mobs to drop bags or for the bags to give you shards.)

Sooooo, I managed to have the chest just now and I opened it aaaaaand….. I got a scroll of Knowledge, a crappy gold and 3 obsi.
And I’m like, what the hell ? We’ve been chasing her for a year, we saved the Arch FOR THIS ? FOR THIS REWARD ? Not even a little skin ? wtf is wrong Anet and the loots?
I’m not even asking for something valuable or very rare, but I feel this is just not right
Are you sure you opened the achievement chest? Because I got the same thing but it was NOT the meta-achievement rewards. I also got a chest the first time I went into the portal at Diverse Ledges and got a Lesser Vision Crystal, Essence of Luck, and a thing of Liquid Karma.
The meta gives you “a 5-skill-point Scroll of Knowledge, 1 Essence of Luck, 5 Obsidian Shards, 50 Blade Shards, a five-use Guild Shield Finisher, and a rare item.”
You also get the title Hero of Lion’s Arch and a unique helm for killing Scarlet. What else do you want?
