If I remember correctly, the missing rewards issue is being worked on separately as they aren’t the same issue. I don’t know much more but I’d imagine we will have some sort of update on the status of that on Monday.

If you are affected then I would imagine you would also get the retroactive fix too. I wouldn’t worry about not ever getting those rewards, there’s no way we’d let that happen – I’d personally see to that.

I’m so glad to hear that!

Sad truth of playing the ingame instruments

I’ll never understand why people would use macros or why people would ever want something like Lord of the Rings Online’s godawful abc system. It makes the whole thing so pointless. You might as well just download and listen to a midi file.

Because it sounds better than a midi, and you can compose your own music, expressing your creativity. As well, you can throw concerts in-game. I have some pretty fond memories of Weatherstock and a few lesser concerts.

One thing that LOTRO did with its instruments that I really loved was allowed the ability to play .abc files in the documents folder. That way, you could do the music without having to memorize it as much, but without using illegal macros.

You plopped the .abc in the Lord of the Rings Online/music folder and then queued it up by equipping an instrument, typing “/music” and then “/play [filename].abc”. You could even do duets by typing “/play [filename1].abc sync” in a group, and the other person (or …really… up to 5 other people) could type “/play [filename2].abc sync”. That way, everyone in the group could participate in the music, and you could sync up perfectly for everyone without having to worry about lag or anything.

I don’t know if this is something possible in GW2 (or even desired by the community), but I’d love to see something similar. I know that I for one would actually buy instruments if you could play .abcs. >_>

Personal Story Level 70 Arc out of place

(Sorry if this seems out of place or has already been discussed – my attempts to find a better forum and/or previous topic on the issue proved fruitless)

Hey all, first-time poster here! o/

I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never finished the personal story on any of my characters, despite having three 80s now. Part of the reason was that it was so broken up by level, so I’d have to go 2-3 levels without a story update, and by the time I was the right level, I was doing something else, so I just sort of fell behind. For this reason alone, I fully support the move to having the arcs every ten levels, since the increased flow can only help the pacing of the story itself – if not necessarily when you hit each point in it during the leveling process.

Given this, I decided to finally get some progress in it on my Guardian, my current main. I reached level 70 and was expecting the arc where you save Fort Trinity and then did the quests that you picked in the Pale Tree’s vision earlier, since I’d gotten to that point on my Warrior and my Elementalist already.

Instead, I’m doing this arc that I’d never done before, which was focused on cleansing Orr. It takes place in the Cursed Shore at level 70, though they got around that by doing these “Airlifts” with the Airship. The thing is, it involved NPCs that I’d never met before – notably, Sayeh al’Rajihd, who treated my like an old friend despite having never met her. It referenced events that hadn’t happened yet, such as Ships of the Line spoilerZott Dying. Later on, my character mentioned all of the Eyes that she’d killed, despite never having killed any in-story.

It was a really epic and awesome series of quests, don’t get me wrong, but it just felt horribly out of place. Worse, my next quest (Temple of the Forgotten God) introduced me to Sayeh, as if we’d never met before, and the quest takes place in the Straits of Devestation.

To me, it seems like it’d be better if the level 70 quest chain from Against the Corruption until The Source of Orr was moved to level 80 to take place after the Order Plans quests, and the Temple of the Forgotten God through Further Into Orr was moved to level 70.

This would give a huge advantage to not introducing characters or events before they’re supposed to happen, though I’m kind of sad that it looks like the “What you fear most” arcs from A Light in the Darkness are gone.
