If anything, keeping with Kristen Perry’s vision of character design and their racial aspects as they diverge from human ‘cultural norms’ is a good idea. Having divergent art design opinions as they vary from the core game’s original design philosophy can wind up giving an MMO an inconsistent look over the years. It can be tremendously distracting, even for those players who don’t have any background training in art (what comes to mind for an example is World of Warcraft’s own art shift over its 12-year life).
Suddenly deciding that Charr and Asura hold human standards of beauty while ignoring their own long-standing racial fashion values — even with a long history of Asurans interacting with humans for hundreds of years without there being a previous large break in their own cultural fashion standards — would kinda stick out like a sore thumb for those who notice it. And it wouldn’t be an immediate thing for a lot, but once it is noticed (ESPECIALLY with Charr)… Even with racial cooperation being at a high point between Charr and Humans, it doesn’t make much sense for Charr to immediately absorb a beauty standard of humans after just 5-10 years of a ceasefire.
Yeah. Six or nothing. What do mice know, anyways?
I’m trying to complete the collection for Yggdrasil but my Ranger’s Cache isn’t being counted towards the achievement.
I 100%‘d Verdant Brink and obtained the cache but now it’s just sitting in my inventory unused. The collection is pretending it doesn’t exist. Can’t obtain Yggdrasil if this keeps up.
You actually have to use the Cache to get credit for the collection (ie, open it). It was like that for all my other item collections.
Poor form Anet.
Why are you naming and shaming an entire group of players on your forum? Handle this behind closed doors. There’s no need for this public shaming by your employees. You expect us to hold ourselves to a high standard while posting. We should expect the same from you.
They HAD to address this publicly because what DnT did was done publicly and on a platform that distorted reality of what was actually was transpiring regarding what they had ‘accomplished’.
You need to take into account that in the MMO community, ‘World Firsts’ is part bragging rights and part marker for the quality/difficulty of a raid. The latter is important. Right now, there are a lot of really bored WoW players that are looking for something to do. GW2’s expansion/raid release right now is an arrow aimed between the ribs of this particular beast.
This doesn’t just hurt intra-business relations, this just doesn’t hurt the GW2 community…. it also hurts GW2’s ability to expand their market to new players interested in raiding, because DnT is a recognizable name to WoW players, and if they slap “LOL SALT SALT LOL WE GOT BOSS FIRST IN FIRST DAY BOIS” all over their social media and website, that’s a complete distortion of what’s happening but what prospective new raiding players may see before they download and try out the game.
I thought it was obvious that by accepting early access in order to help make the raids better, they were relinquishing any rights to claim world first? Did I miss something?
They did get world first. Probably not the one they wanted though.
World first dropkicked for being massive kittenheels.
I’m glad Anet did this. After coming from 10 years of WoW’s raiding community where world-first guilds were placed on pedestals, forgiven repeatedly for blatant exploits, and other toxic community ‘contributions’ stomping out this kind of selfish elitism when your company offered them an open-handed invitation to help shape future content of the game….
Yes. Warranted. We don’t want this garbage here. Not again.
So my whole screen just went totally black apart from the gw2 mouse cursor while I was reading the new LS mail from Logan. I had literally only been logged in about a minute after the patch.
I’ve heard of this error before but just experienced it for the first time just 10 minutes ago. No freeze, artifacting, or warning; the screen just went black save for the cursor which moved about just fine.
Absolutely bizarre.
Alright; I tried switching default browsers and it worked with Firefox. Interesting. I have to check to see what the deal is with Chrome, then, but at least I know now it’s not the game client itself that’s having a bug but its ability to communicate with Chrome.
If I find more toying about gets Chrome to play nice with the GW2 client I’ll update this post again.
Thanks for the help.
As subject reads; ever since the 2nd patch on Wednesday I have been unable to use the /wiki command in the game. I’ve relaunched the game multiple ways in different compatibility modes and admin statuses and nothing’s worked.
Worth noting that I’m using 64-bit Windows 10, but installed it 2 weeks ago. Would be odd if it’s only now affecting browser functionality w/ GW2.
edit: Also, my default browser is Chrome.
Thanks in advance if any is able to offer any insight to this.

. But what about Marjory and Kasmeer? They don’t have anything to do with Destiny’s Edge. They have no old characters that relate to them to bring up like the others. From a story telling perspective, so far Marjory and Kasmeer have functioned as the sort of detective agency that pushes forward the story based on what they deduce, but is that all they have to offer?
Marjory was directly hired by Logan Thackeray to investigate Theo Ashford’s assassination, and Kasmeer her assistant. That is how they get involved in the storyline, and (for a while, anyways) who they report to in regards to the storyline. Kasmeer even seems to be familiar with Logan as well, probably due to him meeting and knowing a lot of nobility.
That said, Logan’s association with Taimi is far more tenuous at best. If anything, they are just distant acquaintances.
They eventually started delivering their discoveries to Ellen Keil when things began to implicate corruption and mayhem in LA politics, of course.
Yeah, this is also broken on Blackgate Overflows.
Also, a sincere WTF at the admin that moved my last comment in this thread (that was pretty civil for all intents and purposes) into a completely unrelated forum thread about twisted menders healing the watchwork knights.
Seriously. What.
In all the multiple attempts to do the event, none of the Watchwork bosses dropped any sort of ‘lights’ or ‘bubbles’ for anyone to stand in. Watched probably 100+ people literally bounce off of the teleporter in confusion.
This needs to be fixed, pronto.
So I picked up playing GW2 after quite a long break, and the whole ascended weapon/armor system is quite new to me. I haven’t had the chance to personally level up my professions from 400 to 500 and so in that regard, I’m quite behind other players.
However, today I partook in a successful Tequatl attack, and recieved an Ascended weapon chest. Yay!!
The stats are Toughness/Vitality/Condition damage. Yyeee… uhh.
I have, currently, a level 80 Thief, Mesmer, and Engineer that I care about. I have an 80 Guardian that I really am not as into as I used to be and will probably never take into a Fractal, ever. And then for the Engineer, I normally run around with either a Flamethrower or Grenade kit most of the time, so (from what I’ve read) an Ascended weapon would be generally useless.
My question is: which of the three of my characters could benefit from a Dire-prefixed Ascended weapon?
Sjacie—I’m not obsessing over gold for gold’s sake, I just need to be able to buy the 1 gold, level 40 book for my chars, get bags with more slots, and buy some bank space.
I’ve gotten 4 characters to 80 and on every single one I’ve been able to buy their trait books when they were at the appropriate level for it, even while leveling a profession (or two professions in some cases) while leveling up.
I figure that I manage it because I always take the effort to 100% a few maps while leveling, salvage items based on the liklihood of getting profitable materials vs. the cost of just vendoring the item, and always do the Shadow Behemoth and Maw of Corruption events every day.
Also, use websites like gw2crafts to help you discern the most inexpensive way to level your professions of choice. Making sure you do a few dungeon runs each week will also profit you.
I am definitely not the richest player in GW2 (most gold I’ve ever had banked is 21, I don’t own any cultural armor sets either) but I’m never so broke that I can’t buy essential items.
Why does it need to be every 4 months? The chests from the World Bosses already have chances to drop Precursors; just reduce the chance for Precursors from the Karka chest to match World Boss chests and have the Ancient Karka become a timed mega event like Tequatl or the Shatterer.
This is precisely what I was thinking.
Also, the 20-slot Karka Box could be one of the Ancient Karka Event’s low-drop-chance rewards. The prospect of getting a free 20-slot bag would definitely turn up interest in the event if it was reintroduced.
On my server, there were people who were coordinating playing neat, random videogame songs via the Wintersday ‘Choir Bell’ items… until a handful of players from one particular guild thought it would be funny to buy large amounts of the Choir Bells and spam a note over and over until the performers got upset and left.
Now one has set up his account somehow to go through dozens of these bells, ringing the highest high-octave note for hours on end. As I write this post, he’s been ringing the same note repeatedly for 3 hours inside the Lion’s Arch bank. Other than the obvious that he’s clearly set up some sort of script to do this to harass/annoy others… there’s a problem here that needs to be sorely addressed: sound spam.
I really hate the idea of go into options to turn off sounds when I step into Lion’s Arch just because of one or two meanspirited players. It is unfair for others to have to alter one’s game experience to accommodate spammers.
The easiest solution that I see is to make it so that placing players on ignore/blocking players will prevent you from hearing their audio emotes and any sort of sound from consumable items — like the Choir Bells — they may use.

According to my records, I bought 1600 gems on January 30th. My records on my own gem purchase log shows I spent 800 on a character slot, then 200 on a dye pack.
And now… I’m at 0 gems again.
Where did 600 of my gems go?
I have only once traded in my gems for gold, ages ago when the makeover kits were put into the game.
Can I get some help with this on where my gems went?
OP, look at how Sales work in the real world.
1) Store announces 70% off of popular/desirable items for a short period of time.
2) People start camping out 3 days before sales start in the cold.
3) When doors open at midnight at certain stores as in years in the past, there are massive crowds that even result in people getting trampled, even killed in the crush to get in the store.
4) “Black Friday” — the name itself implies that this is the highest profit time of year for stores. “Black” implies that this is when store net profits get out of the “red”.
So what can be deduced?
Big short-duration sales on desirable items = big purchasing spree.
Purchasing spree = lots of people spending gems.
Paypal not working/drop of Discover from credit card lineup/people being erroneously flagged as ‘risk accounts’ = people have to buy gems with Gold
So no, OP, this is not as simple as 2+2 = 4, because this isn’t a math problem. It’s a supply/demand problem with a bottlenecked currency supply.

Aha, shutting off Afterburner allows GW2 to load. (Yay!)
Unfortunately, I need that application to increase the speed of my videocard fans so that they don’t overheat. I also use Afterburner to record video while I’m in-game and other benchmarking features.
Is there a specific setting that could cause these issues that people are aware of?

I missed being able to participate in the majority of the halloween event due to this and on top of that frustration, the problem seems to be persisting.
each time I launch GW2 I get two crash errors.
One normally mentions ‘unpacking’. In fact the messages don’t seem to be very consistent in general.
Latest ones I’ve been getting:
