oooo that’s troubling…

Though your laptop is new the sites you visit that pertain to school (including research, school websites, gaming websites, information and wiki sites) all have the potential to have a keylogger in place. This means it doesn’t really matter if you have a new system but rather what sites you are visiting and if they are protected.

Keep in mind Anet employees are probably tired as they repeatedly say they have been working around the clock to try and get these issues solved for individuals. That by no means should be taken as a get out of jail free card for their lack of attention when it comes to tickets coming in.

Only thing I can think of then is to make sure to put in a support ticket, follow the instructions on escalating or getting your ticket escalated then waiting which is not much more then you are or have done already.

I’m by no means letting them off the hook for this one. I personally have not been hacked (knock on wood) and I am appalled by CS response to those who have been hacked and also by the lack of security on their part or even the implementation of a restoration service. The game itself is beautiful but what’s the point of playing a pretty game if at any second you could lose everything and have no hope of regaining what you worked so hard for?

After all the hacking witnessed in other games you would think they would have foreseen this and instead of “restoration is being implemented sometime in the future” it would have been one of those immediate things. I could care less if the TP is down or if my class is slightly broken, I would rather have better security and services then have the others worked on.

Like I said before I got a notice email AFTER I reformatted my PC and re-installed the game. The sites I view are my college, my bank, MMOchamps and Youtube. I am also one of those paranoid individuals who runs a sweep every evening and morning just to be sure. All accounts have separate emails and separate passwords from my gaming account, so something here is certainly not right.

Have you tried getting a hold of Paypal to see if they have it in their records somewhere and could possibly give you a copy or tell you why it may have disappeared from your side of the account viewing?

I’ll admit this is the most bizarre CS I have ever had experience with, and it’s a bit odd to be playing a game that does not have a restore feature, phone CS, Authenticator or some form of security ( EQ, EQ2, WoW, SWTOR, all have authenticators or some type of extra protection) and they seem to make the snidest comments without even realizing they are doing it. However this is a free to play game, even though if you look at other F2P’s they have a dual security by way of a log in pass then a pass for individual charas ( see Requiem, RoM ect).

I’ve personally only got one email about someone in china trying to access my game (after reformatting my PC due to installing new hardware) and I quickly changed my password and have never seen it again. Apparently all I would have needed to do is click on the link provided and it would allow access, thankfully I don’t click on something that says “Hey china is knocking at your door”.

Okay I did a search on this and found a wiki describing the error as being connect to incomplete installation/uninstall, improper deletion of applications or hardware, however I am not very savy with this sort of thing so it probably has nothing to do with GW2.

You could always try a fresh re-install and see what happens, same goes for Maxie even though you just installed the game. I know when I was playing TERA I happened to get something similar and had to re-install.

Have you tried changing her password? She may have been using one that has been blacklisted (not sure if they have implemented this as of yet) and if so she will be required to change to a different one.

Now I’m not saying this is what is going on but that’s what the error means so I would think a quick change would fix it right up.

Look at all the posts about acct hacking, then figure in all the individuals not posting who have had their acct hacked and have put in a ticket, now my reasoning for their lack of communication is that they are swamped with all the issues they are having not only with the hacking but also the common bug issues people are experiencing.

Now I’m not saying silence is the best method when dealing with individuals in general, it certainly is not the best method when dealing with gamers who basically promote or trash the MMO they are playing not just based off content but also CS; I’m just saying Anet is probably not responding as quickly as we would like because they are being spread to thin.

Yeah I am scared to even play while my kids are up (baby never sleeps) for fear of being banned because the baby needed changed while I was in the middle of an event, or because I am trying to use one hand to fight while juggling the baby in the other because of being caught in the middle of an event. I know a lot of people will say “just log out” but some events are based on a time, example the dragons, if I ever hope to participate then I tend to have to do two things at once.

So I try to stay in a town as much as possible when I may be forced to jump afk for more then a second.

I read through the article and saw where a two-factor authentication may come into play, while I like this idea I don’t know about the whole Google thing as my Gmail acct was getting flagged as having people trying to log in to it to use for spam mailing. This leads me to question just how safe google authentication really is, anyone have any ideas or opinions on this?

You know what would be an irritating but great fix to this situation( there are two actually) Authenticator ooooo I know of two games at least that have these and hey they work! change your password every other day using a personal list not kept on your machine that way you aren’t giving away your account if you happen to have a keylogger, I guess you could always pull a sweep before and after you log on the game….that’s a last resort type of thing but would probably help with protecting ourselves.

That’s very true it is more based on the damage you do as well as RNG. However we have to think of this, Espers in Jade Dynasty are quested/farmed or/were found on the marketplace, while it’s great they had ways of collecting Espers of all different types with separate stats, it would then become what is known as a P2W game. Not to mention with the BLM always down or having issues with bought gems never being distributed it ends up creating more problems then solving .

Other downside from adding a system such as this would be the devs having to manage this, they have enough on their plate right now with security issues, BLM coming down, items in game disappearing; this would just be one more thing that would either be broken or would take time away from more important aspects. If they get the time later on down the road ( a year or more) that would be okay and maybe they could pull it off.

The mods have repeatedly said there is no way to restore a chara, items or rolleback an account as of yet so unless they implement this then unfortuantly no -cries deeply for you-

I have played Jade Dynasty and have views for and against this method.

For:

It does give everyone the power to farm multiple mobs while afk therefore revoking a botters privilege to run the server.

They helped the player base to level at a quick pace in a game famous for the amount of levels to max

The amount of Karma needed for high end gear will now be easily attainable for those who may not be able to physically play the game as much as everyone else (karma farming)

Against:

Supporting bad behavior by promoting the bad behavior by way of botting

Discouraging discovery and exploration of zones

Hindering rather then helping in the long run. This means there are two ways to play the game, either bot or do not bot, the no botting individuals will be hurt in the long run as their mobs will be farmed/taken by those choosing to bot, their drops, money and so on will be “stolen”.

Forget economy it will crash and no one will ever use the TP again or even buy anything that you can’t get from karma. All those awesome weapons and gear that come from Karma will be easily attainable since Botting will = Karma farming.

I am having the same issue however I was able to log in several times only to be booted again. I put in a ticket and one of the explanations given upon submitting is that there is high traffic which is part of the issue. I’m waiting for any clarification on this issue.

Honestly aside from the random events which are cool all on their own and the massive amount of ways to level (crafting, exploring, gathering ect) I came across the random puzzles the first being in Lions Arch with the dead pirate directly behind the waterfall. Now I am looking for ALL the puzzles as who seriously could pass those up?!
