FPS issue – need restart to resolve

It sounds like it may be an overheating issue since from what I understand, it’ll start the game fine, but drop in frames over time. Check your CPU thermal paste, and make sure all the fans are blowing air fine and aren’t clogged.

Stutter caused by Ultra Shadows

FinalEmbrace.2847

It’s not just you. I have 60+ fps constantly with everything max except shadows (set on high), but once I turn shadows on ultra it drops to 40-45. Even worse in HoT, where it’ll drop to 25-35. Might just be an optimization issue.

Can agree with Fermi. I have all hardware the same as the one he linked aside from my GPU being an r9 280x (almost identical to the 960 in the build), and I have 16gb DDR3 ram instead of 8gb. Runs GW2 all maxed at 55+ frames in PvE, and 40+ in WvW. All other games I throw at it are almost flawless as well.

A few thoughts after playing 10+ hours in HOT

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

FinalEmbrace.2847

Now I know that everyone has their own opinion on everything, and that’s okay. But the way I see things is we all wanted a new experience, we’re getting it.

1: Unbalanced design: I have no problem with this. Just like the core game, everyone has professions and races they enjoy. If Chronomancer is good for you and Dragon Hunter isn’t, then that’s your choice. For me, I love Druid, but aren’t too fond of Revenants. That’s my decision, and everyone has theirs.

2: Map design: It adds so much versatility to the game and what we can do in it, I think it was a great choice. Yes it’s different and I can’t think of another game that did it, but it teaches and shows us something new and it’ll take some time getting used to it. I remember when I first got my glider, I had no idea it could get me to the places I’m finding myself at now.

3: Extremely hard: Anet did from the very start say this expansion would bring more challenging content. Yes soloing this expansion is hard, but that’s what they intended. You should give the first Guild Wars game a try if you haven’t yet. That game is still more complicated than what the expansion has brought me so far.

4: Elite Specialization: Anet most likely wanted us to go through the story, and explore every detail we can get before unlocking the elite specializations. I personally enjoy it, because for the first time in a while, I feel like I actually need to work to progress through the game. In the core game, you could go to any area, whenever you desired. You get your level, you get your skills. Didn’t have to work hard for it at all. In this I feel myself actually going to certain places to do something, to unlock the next portion of it, and so on. So I think the high reach for the elite specializations were a great idea.

So…. Go Anet!

Also, it’s good of you to point out how you feel about the game. I was just sharing my feelings too.

Chances are they will probably add agony into raids like they do with fractals. Also, maybe they will add something to ascended gear that we don’t know of yet.

So I was watching King Kong this morning (2005), and the jungle based in the movie reminded me extremely of what we’ve seen from HoT so far. Just figured I’d throw that out there. No problem with it. Just thought it was interesting.

Sound cutting in and out

in Account & Technical Support

FinalEmbrace.2847

Every time I play GW2, the audio will cut out at random times (most likely during large battles) and then come back on a couple minutes after. It will completely shut off all audio on my pc (music player also stops when this happens, any audio from Internet browser, etc), but it ONLY happens with gw2. Any other game I play never has this issue. Any fixes? Games installed on kitten.

HoT boxed version - Hard Copy [merged]

FinalEmbrace.2847

To answer DaniKat, I’d like a boxed version because it’ll go with the set I have of all the boxed versions of GW 1 and all the expansions, and GW2 as well. So it’d be nice to have HoT in with them as well. And thanks Healix for the response. I just hope Anet can see this and somehow give us who want the boxed version prepurchased access to the betas as well.

Question about specializations

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

FinalEmbrace.2847

I’m sure this has been said somewhere before but I couldn’t find it. With the release of specializations, will we be able to mix our core skills with the specialization skills? For example, will I be able to have say Flesh Golem as an elite skill while specializing in Reaper, and still have some reaper skills in the rest of the skill bar?

Before someone else steps in and says this there is no hunter in GW2 it is Ranger.

As to your request it sounds like your friend might like Guardian for support and you Thief or Ranger. There is no trinity in this game so every profession can do a little bit of everything.

Two posts saying the same thing. Looks like you should give ranger a try and your friend a guardian

FinalEmbrace.2847

In all honesty when it comes to playing a certain role, that’s near non existent in GW2. But when it comes to dealing heavy damage, I’ve noticed Ranger is a pretty good option (its my favorite) along with Thieves as well. And support is more of a Guardian thing in my experience. The truth is to just play what you feel like trying and see how it works out for you and your friend. Each profession is played differently and its always a new and fun experience to try things out.

GW2 on console?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FinalEmbrace.2847

FinalEmbrace.2847

They definitely would not bring it on consoles. The mechanics of the game just seem too complex for consoles to handle. And I do believe anet has enough funds to expand the game, and I believe the reason they’re just starting to expand it now is because they’re figurng out exactly what we want and how to implement it into the game.

I’ve been a fan of fractals for a long time and find it exciting to get great rewards from it as well. The problem though is that I can never find a good group, or even a group at all since not many people do it when I’m online. So a guild that does fractals very frequently would make the game much more fun for me. Message me in game or reply here if you would like to recruit me.

GTX 980 Low FPS

FinalEmbrace.2847

That’s normal for this game. It’s very CPU intensive and even though you have an i7, 30 fps in wvw is actually pretty good. I have an amd fx 8320 oc to 4.5 ghz and I get 20 to 25 fps in wvw. Unfortunately there is no solution to raise it except for change character distance quality (or whatever it’s called in the graphic settings) to lowest if you hadn’t done that aalready.

Incorrect agony resistance

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: FinalEmbrace.2847

FinalEmbrace.2847

Hello. According to my hero equipment panel, it states I have 35 agony Resistance, when I normally have 45. This causes me to take more damage from agony in fractals. I posted a screenshot showing the agony resistance stat, and will post my equipment stats. Is there any way to fix this bug?

Armor/weapon stats WITH agony resistance on it:

Ring of Red Death (Infused): 2 +5 Agony resistance (total 10)
Crystalline Band: +5 Agony resistance
Ebonmane’s Greatbow: 2 +5 Agony resistance (total 10)
Saphir’s Striders: +5 Agony resistance
Saphir’s Leggings: +5 Agony resistance
Saphir’s Guise: +5 Agony resistance
Saphir’s Shoulderguard: +5 Agony resistance

TOTAL 10+5+10+5+5+5+5 = 45 Agony resistance.

FPS Issue with the 9/9 patch [merged]

I contacted support for this and they replied with:

“Hey there,

We have received a couple reports of performance issues since the new patch and we are in the process of investigating. Until we know more I would suggest keeping an eye on the forum for updates or workarounds.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any additional issues, questions or concerns."

So they do know it is an issue and are working to get it fixed. Glad to know they acknowledged it.

FinalEmbrace.2847

So in the feature pack blog posts, one of them mentioned that we should see an increase in FPS, but it seems exactly the same to me, and I also notice they didn’t mention it in the patch notes unless I just read past it by accident. People will probably say that FPS doesn’t matter, but I’m getting tired of doing world events with character culling set to lowest, feeling like I’m playing alone because I can’t see anyone else unless they’re literally a footstep beside me, and still getting good mediocre FPS (barely ever reaches 30 in world events). I made this post to see if anyone actually has noticed an FPS increase and if it’s just me who hasn’t noticed anything.

If I were you, I would try fully wiping and reinstalling the graphics driver. If that doesn’t work, then try repairing the GW2 client by right clicking the desktop shortcut and adding “-repair” in the target line without the quotes and then start the game to let it repair the client. Hopefully that fixes the issue.

[Suggestion] More weapon skills

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: FinalEmbrace.2847

FinalEmbrace.2847

Hi there. Ever since I played this game in the early beta stages, my first thought was “I wonder if this game will have anywhere near the amount of skills GW1 did.” As everyone knows, the number of skills is nowhere near what GW1 had yet, but I’m sure that will change with future patches. I would love to see weapon skills being a big focus on how the skill system works. Right now, everytime I see another Ranger (My main is Ranger) in the game using a Longbow, I think “That guy has the exact same first 5 skills I do.” It’d be nice if weapons had more than the default 5/3/2 (depending on the weapon) skills each, and allowed you to choose which ones you wanted equipped, so that way everyone has a different set up. It’d be exactly like the normal skill tree we have now, but only with dedicated weapon skills. It’s a little hard to explain, but I’m sure others have had the same thought I have.

Try this to repair your game client:

“If you are having problems running Guild Wars 2, the data archive may have become corrupted. Please follow these steps to verify and repair the archive:
Locate your Gw2.exe file.
Right-click on the file and select Create shortcut.
Rename this new shortcut to Guild Wars 2 Repair.
Right-click on Guild Wars 2 Repair and select Properties.
Locate the Target line and add –repair to the end. (Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\gw2.exe” -repair)
Click OK.”

Try resetting your GPU profiles. If you’re with Nvidia, open the Nvidia control panel (right click on desktop and left click Nvidia control panel), then click “Manage 3D settings” on the left side, and then press “Restore Defaults” at the top right corner. If you are with AMD, open the Catalyst Control Center (right click on desktop and left click AMD Catalyst Control Center), then click on “Gaming” on the left side, then “3D Application Settings”. Then on the bottom left, click on “Defaults”. Save and exit, then start up your game and see if it made any changes.

Low FPS in most areas

FinalEmbrace.2847

So i have a powerful rig, but msot of the time I’m running the game at 45 FPS and below, both in PvP, PvE (in and out of main cities). The only time it’ll skyrocket up to 60+ is when theres only 1 or 2 people around, and if I’m in an enclosed area (such as a cave, or a tunnel). My rig is below:

AMD Fx 8320 OC to 4.3GHZ
16GB DDR3 ram 1600mhz
AMD R9 280X 3gb
1TB HDD
Windows 8.1

Any help is much appreciated, and I would rather not have to lower any graphical settings since it doesn’t matter what setting I run at.

This game has Performance issues?

FinalEmbrace.2847

Yes, the game has many performance issues since launch. I have almost exactly the same specs as you, but I would recommend getting a more powerful PSU, preferably one 700+ watts. Sadly, there’s nothing we can do right now. I’ve found defragging my HDD helped a bit, but that only boosted me about 5 fps. Colin says they have a team working on performance, so maybe sometime soon they’ll have the majority of it fixed.

So as of yesterday, I’ve been noticing transparent objects (more landscape than anything) when moving my camera at certain angles. This is a huge pain when I’m in a fast paced quest, or in the downed state. I have the newest beta drivers by Nvidia (306.02). My specs are:
AMD 1090t 6 core 3.6 ghz
2xGTX 560Ti SLI
16gb DDR3 1600mhz dual channel ram
1TB 7200 rpm hard drive

I’ve tried reinstalling graphics drivers, reinstalling the game, and underclocking my CPU/GPU. I’ve posted a couple screenshots to show you what I’m dealing with.
