The restructuring and removal of the Fear arc removed any faith I had in the late personal story. Honestly the whole Pact/Corruption thing wasn’t particularly interesting apart from the epic eye battle and the Fear arc. Removal of the Fear arc is just horrible.

Fort Aspenwood (us) just smashed Maguuma griefers out of Obsidian Sanctum. Now, I hate griefing, but I love payback.

Also willing to guest into any NA server to help. Any events running/any temples uncontested?

There’s no way to run the event or get the catapult/NPCs into a state where it’s possible to use it. It’s the last thing I need for the area and it’s been bugged for about two days.

My jimmies are extremely rustled after the new build was pushed during the boss fight- but I don’t think they should take rewards away from anyone. Did you even try the event? It took over 2 hours and the later stage was very boring. Trust me, they earned them.

Hahaha, saw no.1 several times. No.2 was mainly because we didn’t have the camp karka waypoint and the south waypoint is annoying (but not impossible) to get back from. That and the amount of Karka along the way.

We had a full group wipe and some of us had to buy revive orbs (of course it was all in vain with the new build push but that’s irrelevant). I think the groups handled it well, even with the wipe.

Dear all of those that are claiming “this is a free game, stop complaining about free content.”

First off, I just want to say that believe it or not, we did pay for this game. I’ve never considered myself entitled to anything more than I paid for but after some of the posts I’ve seen, I need to say this.

This is not a free game. It is buy to play. A game you and I paid for; and for some of us, continue to pay for, with gems to buy content that we consider to be interesting. It’s a system that works for everyone. However, I repeat. This is not a free game. The content they continue to implement is paid for by the initial sales of the game coupled with the gem store. I don’t know about you, but I’ve bought some gems in my gametime. The minute they decided on this model, any and all future free (so not expansions and the like) content is covered by these costs. If they wanted to charge, I would pay.

Secondly, why are you telling me to “stop complaining about free content” when I did not receive all of said content? I’m sure you’ve seen the post about stopping one-time events. I am in Australia and for us it was 6am Monday, and some of us do have things to attend to (however I understand that the RL>MMO argument is stupid). Upon logging in when I could, at around 2pm (GMT+10) I resigned to the fact I missed it. Such is life. But then I checked the forums and realized that some overflows were still running. So I asked for an invite, got ferried in, and ferried several people in, in what I think is one of the Guild Wars 2 community’s finest hours since release. Proud of a lot of you guys.

I completed the “protect the Lionguard demolitions team” event. I reclaimed the waypoint southeast of the karka nest three times, somehow getting back in after a game crash that multiple people in my party experienced. I fought the Ancient Karka’s ridiculous number of reinforcements twice, loaded rocks into vents and destroyed webbing. And as we begun the final battle that had been building for over 2 hours, we were given our reward. A new build. A new build that I downloaded in about 5 seconds. We were given a 3 minute warning. I’m not sure but I’ve never seen a Legendary or Champion go down in less than 5. I didn’t get all the content- especially the important content of an extremely useful item (the 20 slot bag of course, I never had any illusions about my luck with the precursors).

My point here is I see the extremely condescending posts from those fortunate enough to live in a convenient timezone (from what I gather, Europe since it was evening there, and the US since it was Sunday) and repeat this thing like four times. They tell me that I should stop complaining and that this is free content the devs didn’t have to implement.

You’re right, they didn’t. And perhaps, maybe they shouldn’t have. But they did. I was there for the intro event. Nothing notable happened except a massive cluster (expletive) and laggy server- no rewards. The Mad King one was a nice but youtube-recorded cutscene. Suddenly, we’re giving out 20 slot bags? I paid the same as, if not more than, a lot of people playing ($200 AUD collectors). I did as I was asked and lured the thing back to its nest. Why did such a p*ss small build have to be pushed then and there?

I went off on a lot of tangents that probably belonged in another one of the threads, for that I am sorry (and hope this isn’t merged or infracted+deleted) but my point stands. Stop telling people to “stop complaining about free content” for a game they paid for and did not receive. What you need to say is “stop complaining about free content only some people were able to claim.”

PS – I know they promised “compensation” for those who disconnected but there was no real definition as to who is covered. Did you have to kill the boss, and then DC? Did you just need to have completed a suitable amount of the event then DC? Is that just for the initial runs of the event, or is it anyone who got screwed by disconnects and similar? However this is largely irrelevant as this thread targets you, not Arenanet.

The guy saying cancel Wintersday is trolling, he was calling out the complaining.

What -I- am mad about is that I paid a lot of money for this game ($200 AUD collectors) yet am not considered in these 1 time events. Time zones exist.

And then when we find a way around this problem, with the community banding together to help each other out by opening up overflows, they push a new build when we reach the boss fight. Now if they’d pushed it BEFORE I’d tried, I wouldn’t have wasted 2-2.5 hours of my life. However they pushed it just before we killed him. Before you say they offered compensation, we have no confirmation this includes those who were dropped from the overflow since they weren’t really official events.

I have never been so proud of this community while so disappointed in a company I’ve never, ever had a problem with. I don’t want this game to lose players but it seems like it’s inevitable.

The above quote was taken from the WvW forums regarding “Night Capping” by Matt Witter (Game Designer, ANet). Please apply the same logic to World Events, especially if you’re giving out drops like legendary precursors. Please stop the “one-time” events tied to a specific time of day. There are lots of suggestions on this forum about how to get around it. Implement phasing on a character/account basis, let it run repeatedly for a week or a month, etc. The rest of us might not be playing during peak concurrency hours, but we’re paying customers too.

I agree with this, though I’ve never had a big problem with nightcapping. But now that I’ve read the above quote it does seem to invalidate it. I did not feel like a valuable paying customer this event.

I hope this is addressed in future events.

There’s no confirmation as to whether this includes people who got done by the new build- it depends on the way they implement a solution. We could all get screwed.

I wholeheartedly agree with Rekuja. I paid $50 more than the US for my collector’s edition. I figured I’d sunk 700 hours into Guild Wars 1, and Anet deserved my money for such an expensive item.

However now I see how little Anet actually considers, or cares about, those not within reasonable bounds of the PST timezone. The Halloween event had a one time event that little bearing on anything, and that was good. But giving PST players precursors and 20 slot bags and leaving those outside of it with nothing but a ruined economy is cold.

I appreciate anet, just not when they’re pushing a new build to screw everyone over.

I was ferried in, and ferried in a lot of people. So thank you to whoever got me in, and I’m glad I was able to ferry the others in. But we all got screwed by Anet at the end.

I also got a new build at the end. Seriously, can you make your timing any worse? :/

I really hope we’ll get the compensation for this because there’s already a storm of anger over what happened. We got dc’d at least once during the event and this happened at the end.

If I knew I’d be wasting 2 hours on this I wouldn’t have bothered so please consider us as well.

“Urrahn the Healer” the skill challenge NPC in Mount Maelstrom is bugged. Whether you take him from his origin point or not, he constantly resets. It happened 5 times until he eventually just reset completely so I had to speak with him to initiate the fight again. It’s made the fight impossible.

I used to get 30-60 in lion’s arch. Now I get 15…
