We salute you and your team (but mostly you) for shaping Mesmer into what it should’ve always been in the first place.

WTS Official Ruling: Disqualification of Majestic Capricorns

in PvP

Fray.3417

Generally speaking, the disqualification of a participant in a tournament after the tournament has concluded does not result in rematches for all games that they played. The matches occurred within tournament rules, and so the results of those matches are valid. The only change is the removal of the said participant from the final results, and all other participants in the tournament are moved up to account for that.

To all of you asking for a oRNG vs SALT match for WTS, read this.

Other major sporting events/tournaments follow the above rationale. It’s only ‘fair’ to oRNG that the same logic be applied here.

Regarding the cheating itself, I hope that the individuals responsible for breaking the rules are justly penalised. Misrepresentation of players is toxic, disrespectful and dishonourable to the other competitors, the organisers and the spectators.

I hope that ‘alting’ isn’t set to become a serious a problem for GW2, this may only be the tip of the iceberg. How can we control dishonest people attempting to bypass tournament entry restrictions by sharing accounts?

Capricorn was too imbalanced or too unskilled for solo Q (or even hot join!) but… this is ok? Anet thinks that push/pulling people off ledges promotes skill… Fun. Keep skyham in hotjoin, but please take out of solo Q rotation. Or include in team Q rotation please so then people with louder voices will QQ instead of normal people being ignored.

What does Range of the Prestige mean?!

The new range indicator is for the blind on activation. As suggested above, the other 240 is probably related to the burn. They’re the same range either way.

iLeap Fix Idea

Just give the iLeap clone the same animation and mechanics as Warrior’s Savage Leap (Sword 2) skill. Simple copy-pasta job.

Problem solved.

and make it work like portal as well so we can swap over uneven terrain / use in jumping puzzle

imo this is best fix idea for now

You’d still need a target for the clone to exist due to the way illusions work, but thanks for the +1.

+1 for #4 – channel and pulsating damage + boon remove.

I also think it should root us for the duration of the channel so we have to be smart about when to use it and how long to channel it. I would actually rather have a higher impact skill in a small radius than just boosting the radius size. This promotes skilful accuracy rather than nuking everything in a huge circle.

Cleansing Conflagration Shatter?

I’ve been running Sw/T + GS shatter (20/20/0/0/30) for a few months now and it’s awesome. Prestige adds a boost to your shatter damage and if you sync the hit with Mirror Blade→Shatter→Mind Spike you can hit some nice clean bursts without iLeap giving everything away. Stealth in general is very strong for repositioning.

For the OP, I switch traits very often on the fly depending on solo/team scenarios. For solo, I would recommend trained torch and in some cases condi removal on top of that as well since otherwise you’ve got no removal on your swap weapon. For most team fights, the boon strip is an absolute game changer – if I can rely on team mates (eg eles/guardians) for major condi removal then Shattered Concentration will help clean protection off targets for bigger spikes.

2x D/P thieves are a pain to fight. 1v1 most things are fine if you use terrain and choose your fights carefully. Really good condition warriors can wake you up, but there aren’t really many about tbh.

supcutie, thank you for sharing.

This is Brilliant – an absolute must-read for new and experienced shatter mesmers alike. Well structured, comprehensive in-depth presentation and bespoke video guides to go with it. Although I focus mainly on WvW, your guide taught me some new tricks This sort of write-up makes me glad that I’m rocking shatter and not completely defecting to PU.

You sir are an artist. Keep up the good work mate and keep the tutorials coming (Shatter vs X = great idea). Props from the UK!

P.S. @forum mods: This deserves a sticky.

Thanks for bringing this to the devs’ attention… They stealth nerfed this now. Thank you very much for telling everyone.

EDIT: stealth “fixed” then. I’d just been using this for months, then immediately after this post it gets fixed. Haha

So, ascended backpieces for WvW players?

in WvW

Posted by: Fray.3417

Fray.3417

Months after ascended items have been released, the next update promises an easier route to ascended items for WvW players. However, the idea seems to be giving us access to rings and amulets only. A vast array of players have already earned their rings+amulets via laurel vendors – this provides a great incentive to get players to log in on a daily basis to ‘do the daily’, so great idea on that front. Ascended accessories are also available via laurel vendors too, albeit at a higher price, or via guild commendations (another great way to promote guild activity).

The hardest ascended item to earn thus far is the backpiece. Les us consider the current options for obtaining an ascended backpiece (just stats, skins aside):

Option 1: Fractal Grind
For this you need to get:
- 1,850 fractal relics
- Nominal amount of Crystals or Philosopher’s Stones
- Vial of Condensed Mist Essence.
=> Time requirement to grind out that many relics is well over 25 hours of solid fractal gameplay for someone who hasn’t been doing Fractal runs repeatedly every single day.

Option 2: Large amounts of gold
- 50 globs of ectoplasm (reasonable, not too bad)
- 1 Vial of condensed mist essence (random drop in fractals)
- Crystals/Philosopher’s Stones (40/240 respectively; sure why not?)
- 250 T6 material (I’m sorry, 250? We’re not talking about crafting a legendary here, I just want the stats from a backpiece)

Current market price of the T6 mat I need for the stats I’m looking for would set me back 70 gold. You’re basically paying for the skin more than the item.

Anyone playing WvW significantly will tell you that our money goes straight into upgrades, siege weapons and repairs, you don’t really turn much of a profit in WvW if you’re helping your server by upgrading keeps/towers/camps and laying down siege out of your own pocket.

I appreciate that acquiring ascended items should be a long term goal and rewarding for long hours of gameplay, but what is the reasoning for making ascended backpieces exclusive to fractal runners? Some players, such as myself, have perhaps tried Fractals a few times and thought that it was ok, but we’d rather play WvW/PvP than grind dungeons all day. The day laurel vendors were made was a godsend to WvW players, so we finally had access to this higher tier equipment without having to leave the battlefield.

Why penalise players for wanting to play hours on end in WvW instead of you Fractals dungeon? Fractal players can keep their shiny skins, Mystic Forgers can have their cool looking quiver and/or book, that’s ok, they can keep their exclusive skins of prestige. Why not give an alternative option to WvW players who only want to min/max and don’t care about the skin?

Surely it’s not about who has the most gold or did the most fractal runs, you should be rewarding players for investing time into the game. It’s been made brutally clear to us since launch that PvE is a higher priority than sPvP/WvW, but please give us some options.

Many thanks,
The WvW Community

Looking for a team.

This may be slightly out of the ordinary, but posting both PLFT and TLFP:

<Player looking for a team>

Ingame name: Fray Off The Wall | Fray.3417

Main Class / Potential Classes: Mesmer / (Ranger, Warrior, Ele, Thief, Guardian)
? I am willing to play whatever the team requires. However, my main and by far my best class is Mesmer.

Region: EU | UK – London

Practice Times: Weekdays@19:00 – 01:00, Weekends@any time.
? I have a full-time job and that obviously takes priority during the week; outside of working hours we can arrange any time to meet in the evening.

Experience: Currently rank 22 with experience in tourney play; almost exclusively as mesmer, as of late. At beta and release, I mostly played ranger and warrior in tourneys + hot join.
I played GW1 extensively since beta for 7-8 years. In that time, I chose to focus on Team Arenas, in which my teams had regular success and also played GvG/HA/HB frequently (up to top 50). I played every spec of ranger/mesmer under the sun and loved interrupt (my gw2 name is me carrying forward my ranger’s name). I also played front/mid/backline whenever required. Along with the vast majority of my GW1 friends, I was initially disappointed with GW2 sPvP/tPvP for several reasons; after trying it for a while I decided to dedicate my time to WvW instead (mostly roaming in small teams and/or duelling e.g. [TDS]). Recent updates and tpvp’s momentum have tempted me to give it another shot.

Other (Anything else that you would like to add): I enjoy playing GW2 very much and whilst most of my GW1 mates have given up on the tPvP aspect of things and shunning it entirely, I would quite like to see how far we could go with an organised team. I use Vent/TS/Mumble/Skype i.e. whatever is required. My biggest annoyance with hot join games is lack of communication. Please only contact me if you are a team that plans to use voice comm.

<Team looking for a player(s)>

Team name: Beyond The Wall [Crow] (mostly historical reasons, can potentially re-brand)

Region: EU

Amount of members: Up to 4 for tPvP (42 roster for WvW/PvE)

Practice Times: Flexible, we have players in Europe, America and Asia at the moment. Once we have a core of 5 (although my personal preference would be European) then we can discuss times.

Class(s) you are looking for: We are looking for good players, rather than a specific class at this point. The rest will fall into place.

Other (Anything else that you would like to add): More than anything else, I’d be looking to play with people who are calm, but fun, who think critically, but without raging at the team.

FINAL THOUGHTS
TL:DR = I’m a mesmer, I think I’m pretty handy at it, and I want to be part of a competitive tPvP team to hit GW2’s pvp scene.

Pm me: Fray Off The Wall
Or drop me an email: gladiator_fray@live.com
See you in-game.
