Are you guys still doing ok with the shutdowns? I am coming aboard right now as it shuts down about 7-15 mins of being in the game. Even if I just log in and let my guy sit where I logged in. Going to continue a little more research and then upgrade my driver.

Okay I’ll see what I can do. I’m even wondering if I should just go straight to trying a beta driver if this gets to much more difficult? Also I’m going to try some different things like running in windowed..etc. but the battery is obviously not the issue here.

Is there maybe something to check in my power options or graphics card power options? I’ve checked everything in and out I’m sure. But I could be missing something?

There are a few different drivers to choose from. I’m not sure which one. I started looking through 2 of the release notes but that was starting to take a very long time. Do I need a specific one that fixes the guild wars issue? Or can I just download the latest one and It “Includes” all the fixes from the previous updates as well?
The ones too choose are:
GeForce 310.70 Driver – BETA
Version: 310.70 – Release Date: Tue Dec 04, 2012

GeForce 310.64 Driver – BETA
Version: 310.64 – Release Date: Wed Nov 28, 2012

GeForce 306.02 Driver – BETA
Version: 306.02 – Release Date: Mon Aug 27, 2012

GeForce 304.79 Driver – BETA

GeForce 301.24 Driver – BETA
Version: 301.24 – Release Date: Mon Apr 09, 2012

GeForce 295.51 Driver – BETA
Version: 295.51 – Release Date: Tue Jan 31, 2012

You can access this if you or anyone else want to check out the release notes for themselves for reference:
http://www.geforce.com/drivers/beta-legacy
In the dropdown choose:
Geforce
Geforce 200 series
GeForce GT 240
Windows 7 64-bit
English (US)
Beta

As soon as you get back with me I will get this show on the road. I just don’t want to start with each drive and read the release notes till I find which one I need if I can just get the most latest one and it still include the fixes. Thanks so much!

Couldnt find which one was the fix. So im just going to download the latest one. If it doesnt work. ill rollback and try the 306 driver. Lets hope this problem is just a driver. It seems lots of people are having this issue.

Having the same issue still..

I just put the INF file in the folder.. I still couldnt find it. no matter what the desktop or laptop version of the driver didnt have a NVWI. But either way. Same error. =/

Intel HD Graphics Family - Low FPS

Frozencapsule.1534

It’s a noticeable difference. Regardless where you go. The dedicated is running extremely smoothly like wow usually does on a pretty good machine. And then on the integrated it is really choppy and not as fluid. Kind of like skyrocket. Wish I coul make a video. It’s really wild.

Fps measured in metrics province or brisban wildlands

Updating drivers these days is quite a daunting task. Intel sends me to my manufacturer. Manufacturer has a driver from 09…etc

Is there an easy way to check your drivers for updates.
I used to think you can do it through device manager but it appears they will tell you the driver is updated when there’s still updated drivers available.

I just really want to play. On the one computer it runs way to slow and choppy and I can’t enjoy my experience. And on the other computer, it runs so perfectly smooth but it shuts off in less than 15 mins.

It’s like a curse! =\

This game is pretty fresh. All of us in the forums with problems, We are all the pioneers right now. Just gotta hang in there and keep trying. I’m sure in time it’ll all be figured out as we keep failing and fixing. There are some pretty affordable machines that can make this game amazing and a lot of high end rigs are messing up also. I hope we get the low fps thing figured out.

How can we tell if it’s an official arena.net or gw2 staff post/poster?

Hello, I have 2 different laptops. One costed me around $250 bucks and runs the game flawlessly at about 55-70 FPS on medium settings. The other costed me around $800 and runs the game at about 7-16 FPS on extremelly low settings.

I thought if I posted the spec’s that people with more knowledge could help me figure out whats going on here.

Here are the Spec’s on the Toshiba Satellite p755 that costed me about $800 brand new at best buy in 2011. This machine runs the game at an average of 8-10 fps. 7 or lower when events happen. and up to about 16 when facing the walls.

I noticed an Issue last night. It seems the new battery I got from amazon does something different then the old battery from lenovo.

The new battery from amazon will shut off directly after I unplug the A/C adapter.

The old battery from lenovo will stay on and the charge meter will start rapidly going down, and in about 3 minutes the machine will shut itself off.

So I got a picture o the 2 batteries in case you can detect the difference? The old battery from Lenovo is on the top. The new battery from Amazon is at the bottom.

Picture: http://sta.sh/067edv4w1r1

I also tried putting the old lenovo battery back in and tried playing the game, still got a shutdown within 15 minutes of being in the game. I even tried playing with no battery and on my own private plug in a section of the garage that gets the highest voltages.

Still shutdowns.

I really wish I can figure this out! Still cant find the INF to change.

Thanks so much!

There is no .Inf to replace in my Nvidia driver folder for the 310.70 driver. What should I do? =/

“Update” : I took the battery out and plugged into my own outlet on the wall. The computer still shut off within 10-15 minutes.

I also removed Avast Antivirus , Still experienced the crash within 10 minutes or so.

ran a program capatability detection. it set it for windows xp service pack 2. Still crashed.

Checked the temps right before it crashed and the graphics card was 80C

One of my buddies was online, gonna go play with him on my other computer that only gets 7 fps in gw2.. =[ I hope I can fix this problem!

I’m working on the battery and the power issue here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/Lenovo-Ideapad-y550-shuts-down-when-unplugged-wont-start-on/td-p/978531

Guild wars 2 can run on my other computer with weaker graphics, but higher ram and 4 cores. It can get pretty hot with the fan blasting and the game wont shut down. Runs at like 7 FPS though lol..

But this computer will shut off within 15-20 minutes of being in the game. So i’m not entirely sure whats going on. But that’s why I’m posting here. I can in fact play Starcraft 2 or WoW on this computer for hours and not experience any shutdowns.

Although It appears that it saved the driver files on my C drive where the older drivers are. I provided that in the screenshot as well.

Maybe there’s a way I can bypass that message and update the driver myself? Or is there a way I can tell that driver that there is a graphics card?

it shows my card is supported in the "supported Driver’s section of the update for my card.

Is that because it comes default with this model of computer? I was wondering if the Pawn Shop put win 7 on it. The sticker’s were took off the part that you rest your palm. So I wasn’t sure what windows it came with.

I am not planning on restoring it, it had a pretty swift reformat from the pawn shop.

It definitely just shuts right off. But when I unplug the AC adapter it also shuts right off.

If you look up top, the results from the temperature test show some voltage stuff, I just dont know how to read it.
It also shows my virtual ram and all that other stuff in the System Information post I put up. I just dont know how to read these things.

I am installing the Nvidia drivers now to see if they work, if not I’m going to install the legacy/beta drivers and see if those work.

I have also already installed the drivers for the “Problem Devices” in my System Information file.

Well. It appears that the driver for my graphics on the lenovo website is :
8.16.11.8990 21 Oct 2009

And it seems that the one I have in device manager is:
8.17.12.5896 9 July 2010

So that rules out the Lenovo website for my driver. So now its for sure the nvidia site I will need.

So with that being said, I think I will run the updated driver. And if that does not work, I will do the Beta/Legacy driver?

I will keep everyone updated, in case anyone else has this problem in the future.

It very well could be heat related. I just put no heat because no part of the laptop is warm when im gaming usually. the fan is blowing out a warmish air. But it is still not very warm at all.

I haven’t measured the temp yet, I assumed since my other computer can burn my lap and still not shutdown. this computer is cold and shutting down.

If you look at the system information I provided, at the very bottom. I did a search online for ACPI and it seems that its part of a power management thing?

I don’t have any OS’s I am a very poor person that received this awesome game for Christmas. =] I am wondering If there is a way to hold a key when the laptop starts up to do a factory reset? Then I could download all the drivers from the website? I am trying to find a way to do this without any cost if possible.

Hey! I have a Lenovo Ideapad y550 and when im playing guild wars 2, my laptop will shut off on me randomly. Sometimes it will happen within 15 minutes of being in the game. Sometimes it will happen after about 2 hours of playing, sometimes shorter and sometimes longer. I tried most of the fixes I could find. But still nothing.

I even gave this a try: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/FPS-and-Performance-based-issues-1
