Going underwater, changing headgear to one that has never been a flame eye and changing map worked, when done as a combo!
Thanks!
-repair didn’t fix the problem.
The Eye is still there.
Hey peeps!
I’ve had this problem since I created my new elementalist character a few months ago.
I started out with the Flame Eye. The problem is, I’ve been stuck with it ever since. I’ve tried transmuting it to a different skin, equipping new headgear, hiding headgear, taking headgear off and even wasting a Self-Style Hair Kit without equipped headgear.
The Flame Eye is always there. If I equip some other skin, the Flame Eye will still burn on top of it. It’s kind of annoying. ( You know… http://giphy.com/gifs/the-lord-of-rings-return-king-10wgT5PDnOwMQE )
I really don’t want to delete the character to get rid of the Eye, as I used so many tomes of knowledge etc. to level up the character to lvl 80. (Don’t worry, it’s my second elementalist. My main is an asura elementalist. <3)
Does anybody know how to solve this? I’ve already sent a couple of bug reports about it.
(P.S. Fashion Wars: Oh how I wish I could use the original Flamekissed armor skin on this character! <3 I miss it so much.)
I too am a big fan of getting the flying broom and the magic carpet as gliding skins. Also the fiery phoenix glider skin sounds awesome, as well as one based on the Phoenix weapon designs (off topic: a backpiece design of those would be awesome too, as the weapons look amazing but don’t really go well with any already existing backpiece design)
Also a recolored skin of the GW2 HoT glider as black & red, representing the core game, would be awesome, as well as recolored skins of the exalted glider representing the spectrum of the differently colored exalted.
Problem solved! Re-seating my graphics card did help! After checking the installation and doing some googling I realized it was seated in the second PCI E lane, which could only work at x4. I did have to move my SSD and hard drive out of the way too though, as they were the reason it wasn’t seated in the first lane already. Now it’s running at x16 and the game works wonders.
Oh and the FPS monitoring was done through Shadowplay!
Thank you so much for the help!

Here’s a screen of the sensor’s tab.
It does look like the GPU is working crazy hard to run the game, am I right? So this might actually be the cause of the problem?
(The little gap there is gliding to the bottom of Verdant Brink, dropping, dying and laying there :’D)
Thanks for the tips so far!
Here’s the screenshot.
Deleting the .tmp file didn’t work for me. Haven’t yet done a GPU reset, I’ll probably try that next, tomorrow.
The game used to run very smoothly on high graphics, but lately I’ve been having horribly bad FPS in certain areas. My average FPS used to be, and still is in some remote areas (like Wayfarer Foothills) and personal instances, between 50 to 60. But if I head to for example HoT areas or Orr, it instantly drops to 10-20, even on the lowest graphic settings. Ping is about 70-90. The FPS will get a bit better (30-40) if I glide for example at the bottom level of the Verdant Brink, where the pulsing vines are.
The problem only occurs in Guild Wars 2. Other games, like Shadow of Mordor, Skyrim and Dragon Age: Inquisition, run perfectly fine.
I gotta admit I’m not really that experienced talking about computer specs, but as far as I understand, my build should run the game riddiculously easy (please do correct me if I’m wrong!). According to the task manager, there’s no stress on any part while playing the game. The CPU and memory run at and below 30% and the disc occasionally rises there as well, usually running at 0-10%. There’s no overheating problems and the computer is clean inside.
My specs are:
Intel® Core™ i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
16 GB
Microsoft Windows 10 (build 10586), 64-bit
I’ve tried googling for the same problem and found numerous ways people have tried to fix this, but nothing seems to work for me. This includes reinstalling GW2, deleting the local.dat file, disabling the UI, lowering collision slider, repairing the laucher, updating drivers, configuring NVIDIA control panel and unparking CPU.
the appdata file of Guild Wars 2 does have 6 “Corrupt-xxxxxxx.dat” -files in it. I couldn’t find any information about them, so I didn’t dare to delete them. Could this help? Or make the situation worse?
Does anybody have any more suggestions I could try?
I’d be really grateful for any tips!
Now that we have gliding in the game, what would be more amazing than having the old broom and magic carpet gizmos as glider skins! I know I always wanted to fly up in the air on my broom, and I do believe I’m not the only one!
What do you say?
I don’t think they’re directly dragon minions either BUT:
“While other dragon minions are often corrupted versions of living creatures, destroyers are mindless beings created from rock and fire; they appear as mockeries of living creatures, such as trolls or harpies.1 However, when a living being is encased by rock, its body could turn into lava, creating a corrupted creature.2 In addition, the Destroyer Queen has created destroyers using egg-like pods, a feat previously thought impossible or at least not widely known.”
-quote from the destroyer wiki page (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Destroyer).
And I couldn’t help noticing similarities in some of their (both the chaks’ and the destroyers’) behavior and appearance. They clearly aren’t identical in any way, but then again so aren’t for example destroyer trolls compared to basic trolls. Nor the harpies.
Heres an example:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chak_Zapper
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Destroyer_Crab
The above mentioned type of destroyers has been called “Destroyer Crabs” since the launch of the game, but I personally gotta admit it resembles a Chak Zapper more than it resembles a basic crab (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Freshwater_Crab).
So basically some of the destroyers could very well be mockeries of the chak, created by Primordus. That wouldn’t however tell us anything else but the chak and Primordus having made contact in the depths of Tyria. There could just as well be Destroyer Asura or Destroyer Skritt.
But then again the latter lines of the quote are interesting too. I’ve always seen the destroyers’ behavior as a bit insectoid…ish, and the queen being able to lay eggs/pods sounds such as well. Taken the chak are insectoid creatures too, there would be another connection. Could Primordus be using the chak somehow, either by corrupting them (encasing them within rock/lava) or making these molten mockeries of them, to enlarge it’s minion army in the fast way insects reproduce? What are your thoughts? Or am I just totally insane to even think the destroyers behave a little insect-like?
I’m also aware of the risen spider thing and the corrupted eggs thing etc..
Basically Zhaitan having done the same thing, but not having realised the sheer effectivenes of the trick, and thus not focusing on it? :-D
Same thing happened here. I had 47/50, Legend of the Mists.
An elementalist could either concentrate in a specific element, becoming a Pyromancer, Geomancer, Aeromancer or Hydromancer, or it could learn to combine the elements, becoming for example a Weathermancer.
Having the very same problem. Got DC’d an hour ago in the middle of the second instance, and haven’t been able to log back in after that.
She did say “No time to explain!” before she hastily grabbed the egg and left, so I personally don’t think she’s working for the enemy.
However, this might have something to do with Caithe’s big secret Scarlet teased us about in the Twilight Arbor dungeon episode in season 1.
Also the one thing I got excited about in this patch was the talk they had about Gleam, the baby dragon we saved in GW1, whose name was also finally revealed. I personally do think it’s still very much alive, probably the voice that was guiding the Master of Peace in Glint’s lair and I wouldn’t be surprised if Caithe knew about it aswell.
Also a fun fact: There’s a zephyrite merchant named Gleam in the peaceful centaur camp in Dry Top.

Hmmn, that’s a good point. The question is trying to speculate the possible existence of another Glint-like dragon though, so let’s assume they function like most living creatures.
So we know Glint used to be a champion of Kralkatorrik, the crystal dragon. Back then she was known as Glaust. She gained free will after the Forgotten performed a specific ritual at the Altar of Glaust in Orr, and in time, she began understanding the minds of mortals, and turned into a friend of all living things, abandoning the service of his former (at the time slumbering?) master.
She was the one who compiled the Flameseeker Prophecies, and hundreds of years later witnessed them happening. She also took part in these events, aiding the chosen heroes in their quest.
Over two hundred years later the Destiny’s Edge learned of her past as Kralkatorrik’s champion from Faolain, the grand duchess of the Nightmare Court, and set off to kill her. However, it came as a surprise for the heroes, that Glint was actually willing to help Destiny’s Edge fight her former master. She had been collecting and protecting Kralkatorrik’s crystallized blood drops from his last battle for the past three thousand years. Among these protected relics was also the only thing that could harm Kralkatorrik; a spear made of one of his own spines.
However, the battle didn’t go quite as planned, as Logain left the group to protect his queen and love interest Jennah, so both Glint and Snaff met their untimely deaths in the claws of Kralkatorrik and his minions.
We also know that a group of grateful dwarves had formed the Brotherhood of the Dragon after Glint concealed many of the elder races from Kralkatorrik. The purpose of the brotherhood was to protect Glint, who had become the oracle of Tyria.
After the dwarves transformed and disappeared into the depths of Tyria, the guardianship was shifted to a group later known as the Zephyrites. After the lost battle against Kralkatorrik, the Zephyrites sought out the remains of Glint and her draconic energy. From those remains the Zephyrites learned of the Aspects of Wind, Sun and Lightning, and began to study them deeper. After this they built the Zephyr Sanctum, and began their own peaceful culture of roaming in the sky of Tyria, and landing to trade with different cultures.
We also know Glint had multiple crystallized eggs in her lair. We saw, and could actually pick them up ourselves in a mission called The Dragon’s Lair in Guild Wars 1.
We also know Glint had at least one baby dragon. The destroyers seemed to have an interest towards this particular baby dragon, and the Brotherhood of the Dragon actually asked our characters to protect the baby from the destroyers.
I myself have a couple of mysteries bugging me.
1. Who is the father of the baby dragon/eggs? The mate of Glint?
2. Where is the baby dragon now? How fast does it grow?
3. Could the thing that appears in the middle of the golden light pillar, and lands in the midst of the crystals in Pale Tree’s vision be one of these eggs, or the baby dragon?
4. Where did Faolain truly find out about Glint’s past and the awakening of Kralkatorrik? She told Caithe the Nightmare Court had simply been observing things deeply, but I really doubt it. How could that lead into the revelation of Glint’s past?
5. Glint is a seer. Where does this gift originate from?
