It is definitely Chronomancer. The clock themed ability they used in the teaser was a dead give away. I’m a bit disappointed that they chose to go that route with Mesmer instead of simply making Chrono into its own class (was hoping for the metal plating theme that the original GW1 Chronomancer concept had).
That said, I want Chronomancer in the game somehow – this works if nothing else.
Chronomancer will bring me back to GW2 after a two year hiatus. Me and my level 80 Mesmer cannot wait to see what they do with specializations.
(Anyone listen to The Sword? Chronomancer I and II are amazing songs…)

Really late to the discussion here, but I’m really interested in GS + Sword/Pistol builds.
What weight does anybody put into +20 Domination purely from a Bleed damage point of view? Sharper Images puts a 5 sec Bleed on target that only ticks in one second intervals, thus putting 20 into Dom will push each Bleed duration to tick one more time. I’m unaware of any gear that will allow conditions to last longer. This is an effective 20% Bleed damage increase, which (without doing the math) seems like more bang for your buck than increasing condition damage itself.
Throw this into the previous discussion, shake it up a bit, and what build comes out on top for a good mix of damage and survivability?
Great post OP.
Shatter is a horrible mechanic for a class that has so much potential. It creates all other deficiencies that Mesmers experience in PvE for the reasons you listed and more.
If Shatter were simply replaced with non-damaging Clone generation for utility and mobility (think Blink and Decoy and Phase Retreat), weapon skills could be balanced and filled out (boons/conditions/effects/etc.) like they are with other classes, we’d have the same class we do today and we wouldn’t have to feel like we are constantly working against ourselves.
I only play Norn, for every profession. I became aware of this game when the Norn were announced as a playable race and waited for release ever since. They are the best portrayal of Viking virility ever put into an MMO.
In most fantasy games, there are Humans to provide the familiar neutral role, and then at least two more races: one to emphasize the more feminine aspects of humanity (grace, empathy, slimmer, smaller, “smooth”, “nice”) and another to emphasize the more masculine ones (strength, aggression, muscular, larger, “hard”, “tough”). Typically these are represented by Dwarves and Elves, but where Dwarves are lacking in size, Norn are hyper-masculine in every way.
