What if there was a Turret bar that could hold say, 2-3 turrets? I really feel like all Engineers should be using turrets, its just dumb how they expect you to lose utility slots for them.
rtl shouldnt even be in the game, or at least should require a target.
hit boxes are also horrible. half the engineers abilities are practically skillshots because of the 30 degree cone and cast times.
all it does is give someone the mentality that they want to kill someone in 2 seconds. nobody should have that mentality in a mmo pvp game.
rings + earring + amulet and nerfing protection to 15%, buffing toughness, making toughness effect conditions.
although toughness would have to be buffed a lot, i just think crit % should just be removed in spvp. people running quickness builds are just trying to kill someone in 2 seconds… no player should really have that kind of mentality.
easiest way to farm glory. thats about it
i could have killed so many people today if it wasnt for the horrible hitbox on this skill…
its because all those listed classes are broken. everyone here will just say L2P, because they play them. if anyone was even close to being in a top 10 3’s 5’s team in wow they would know how kitten it is.
but you have to consider that GW2 is mainly the battleground zergfest of wow, not the arena players. so everything is cheesy and imbalanced.
the fix would make guarding nodes grant glory, but theyre too dumb.

As a former competitive fighting games player i perfectly know what the reaction time is and it involves:
-Time to recognize something (varies if the thing can be expected or not also doesn t consider the Whole time where the animation is not recognizable)
How easy is to spot the move-time to plan a reaction
-time to PERFORM the counter (quite high in a game like GW2 unless you consider reaction to be a simple roll).
-latence X2 (depending on netcode)
-possibility of being in mid of an action
-input lag
The thing is well documented professionally for game devs…..and its actually their work not our….as seems in regards of balance this discussion just proofs how unreliable is players opinions…..
this actually shows how much you dont know. the ammount of % values in this game is absurd, all % values do is make random numbers sometimes extremely high or low.

Who the hell is trolling who here? If you don’t have a stunbreaker you can reach within the time span of a thief combo, you should stick to fractals.
im not quite sure you read the 1 second timeframe completely.
you should stick to hooked on phonics.
Against other thieves, I use my stun break fast enough to not die within one second. Doesn’t matter who the thief is. Obviously mine teleports me, but for other classes they have far more defensive abilities to use after a stun break.
I am sure Mug damage is going to get nerfed for the sake of people like the OP. And it was basically stated in the SOTG.
because of mug, steal is being used as an offensive zerg down skill instead of its intended focus. yeah, because of people like me dude.
Op in your opinion? if some people can reasonably deal with it, then its not OP. I play an engy, i win the bulk of my 1on1s with thiefs. I dont find them OP. But i do think they give newer /more casual players alot of trouble and should be looked at it on that basis.
Hopefully in a way that doesnt impact how they hang in higher end play.
do you win the bulk of running around in circles with thieves after they fail to do 22k damage to you in 1 second and global you? cool, i do too.

Some stuff is OP in my opinion, btw. I dislike HS and perma stealth, its cheese. And BS should be toned down, too. But that doesnt make me post threads with made up facts, that may distort reality beyond the real measure of the problem. This kinda threads pop up every day, mostly put up by newcomers who dont fully grasp the game yet, see the ongoing thread about rallying, for example. And Davinci thread on that and other balance issues.

i posted this thread to shed light on what is possible inside the game right now and how % values need to be toned down. or else this game will go completely downhill.

please theorycraft more about nothing. this happened on my guardian, what is so hard to believe honestly? i dont spec deep down the toughness tree. and manipulating numbers? why would i intentionally manipulate numbers when i dont even think thieves are imba (which i already stated) and how cant you imagine aegis being procd off an auto attack? you are thinking seriously way too deep for nothing. post reported for actually attemping to call me a fraud when i came here for the good of the game.
Learn to play a thief. The moment another thief hits me with Basilisk I shadowstep. The only issue is terrain and bugs.
Due to terrain, some times I can only shadowstep so far, which isnt very far. And due to the Basilisk bug (if you’re still stone colored when you Shadowstep, etc, you cannot dodge roll, so the inevitable Heartseeker spam or tap backstab until you lose stealth or it lands) is what gets me killed against other thieves.
Also, the average is not .3, that’s just the highest. The average is supposedly between .150 – .300 milliseconds. I’ve done a couple test online at times and gotten .2 milliseconds before. Also, the fact it shows heartseeker, unless they had Haste, that alone probably took them some time to land. Me thinks you’re just slow to react.
Do you know why you get .2 on tests? because youre actively waiting for it to happen with a finger hovered over a key. this whole text is completely invalid.
Let me ask you a question fxyo…were you fighting the thief 1v1 to start, or did you get hit surprisingly from the back?
The game just started, i had no debuffs what so ever, and it happened as he came out of stealth while i was capping gy. i blinked and honestly decided to stop playing the game for a few days, which i have already.
Look; That’s the style of thieves. That’s pretty much all they can do. They kill light/medium player styles. That is it.
It’s your nemesis, your counter spec. The game is designed like that, and I have nothing against it (I’m a DPS engineer).
Instead of getting frustrated, try to find a thief, a good one (r30+); And start dueling with him, until you find a window of escape.
Practice, Practice, Practice.
Thanks for the input but, sorry. This even being possible is horrible balance. give Thieves something else to stay alive or do damage. 4 shotting someone in 1 second isn’t rewarding for the Thief and sure as hell not for the player.
A single block.
A well timed dodge roll (I’ll admit this one can be hard, but not impossible – if you have a 900 range skill, you wait until it lights up and hit dodge).
Any of your numerous AoE CC’s.Any of these would have absolutely ruined that thief for 45s. Its an all in spec – the thief blows a bunch of CD’s and a bunch of initiative – if it works, the thief probably gets a kill. If it doesn’t, the thief is a free kill.
In fact (in sPvP at least), the spec has been in decline for weeks. It’s extremely easy to counter, and telegraphs it’s attacks from across the battlefield (Dagger pistol is straight up better than D/D at this point. If a thief is running D/D, in most cases the player is either inexperienced, or going for instagib)
Seriously, I’ve been caught with most of this combo (hitting my stunbreaker late, etc), and (playing as a thief) still won the fight, because even with only 20% of my health left, that thief has no tricks left. The instagib player has to hope I screw up and let him catch me with a HS, or the fights over for him.
Please dont theory craft. He obviously broke aegis with an auto attack, then gibbed me in 1 second flat with quickness… and dont play like this doesn’t happen. either you cant do this on a thief, or you have not seen it happen.

oh sorry i never talk about hotjoin. and playing against more than 1 thief nowdays is very difficult.
problem is when u play thief and u fight against a tanky team. you feel so useless. (guardian, ranger, double ele, engi)
This was on my Guardian. I didn’t think I needed to use protection when I’m sitting at 19k hp. Then again, why do guardians have such low hp?

Here is some advice if Arenanet actually reads these forums like they say they do. Why are these numbers so high? Well, it factors into a lot of things, mainly percentage scaling. If you take a class that has high crit coefficients, give them a bunch of FLAT DAMAGE % buffs through runes / traits, it will scale too far. Same goes for % on crit, but not as much.
You should know, that when WoW’s expansionThe Burning Crusade came out Warriors were speccing into Deathwish and Enrage, allowing them to 3 shot anyone. Obviously this was completely out of control, so they buffed warriors elsewhere and completely nerfed the % to 25% from 50%, then in the next xpac, they made sure their damage was up to par, and nerfed it even lower.
Why not balance around other mmos failures and make them your success? Removing % damage runes from pvp and % crit damage and substituting that with all around coefficient buff on non criticals would improve gameplay by a lot.
Toughness, why does it do nothing? Why does this state seem to act like it does not exist? Mind you, this was on a 3k toughness target, so i do believe a shield weilding guardian should not die in 1 second to a thief with daggers.
On the other hand, % scaling is great if its not done with damage. % increases to stats for example, Signet of Judgement reduces the damage you take by 10%, alright that’s getting there, why not make the passive signets that give a measly 90 power/condi/etc give a flat 10% increase to that stat? Or items that give flat % hp gain?
Honestly designing damage around raw % values is kind of lazy, and instead of buffing the coefficients, you make it so any new weapon that gets introduced into the game, or any random spur or might stacks, will make typical builds like this do damage that other people did not know the class could do before.
If you really want to draw attention to spvp, things like this should not even be in a remote realm of possibility.
The attached image happened right as the game started, so the thief had no insane might stacks or anything. Mug also hits me for 6-7k sometimes, which i know is being adressed.
PS: I’m not sure why Quickness is even allowed in spvp. All it does is drive players away. Less I win buttons, more skill.

also when i call out keep, which is a very obvious call out when you hear svanir/champion die, people would rather fight down below keep to 4v2 instead if helping me at keep, which then gets lost. also whenever theres a fight around a point and an enemy is capping it, people always fight off the point usually chasing people way off and ignoring the 1 person capping…
. i feel that defending nodes does not give the merit it should and people just want as much score as they can get. correct me if im wrong but defending a node for over 30 seconds should grant +10 score?
furthermore, im constantly trying to tell my team that in 20 seconds x node will have inc, and when it does im sitting there 2-3v1ing for around 30 seconds and absolutely nobody shows.

i just started playing spvp around a month ago, and i have a huge background in this style of point capture gameplay, but i wont digress into that.
my problem is, why is it in pub games everyone sends 5 people to cap the first node instead of letting just one and continuing to the battle point (gy keep etc) at the beginning of all my games i have 5 people sitting at quarry, then if the other team is bad enough to do the same thing and we get keep, they continue to zerg out to henge, which to me, makes no sense.
this isnt 4 base control or 5 base control, its 3. so why do people tend to think zerging around wins like this? their whole team will respawn at henge, wipe you out, and proceed to take keep from you. then its all downhill. is there some sort of advantage to capping a point with more than 1 person instead of lolscore. cause from my point of view score really doesnt show much rather than a player who just zergs around from point to point 5v2ing players all game.
any insight to my troubles?
as soon as you see quickness buff just use elixir s. your instinct should be to dodge whenever a thief is on you anyways, so you have plenty of time.
all every bad player does is roll zerk thief use quickness and spam HSS.
Guys I actually find out my problem.. kinda dumb i know.
I did NOT uninstall my nvidia drivers before updating to this card… and without an nvidia card (sold it) you cant manually remove them from programs list. So i had to get drive sweeper and manually go into the registry and specific folders to clear out all traces of the installation.
Now that im in game, i have 50 fps with medium settings in divinities reach. VERY happy right now! =D.
I see a lot of people with this problem, and maybe they could have made the same mistake i did. I read somewhere that you didnt need to erase old gpu drivers on Win 7. Ha.

I’m really at a loss… my computer specs blow away the recommended settings for the game. All in game graphics set to lowest, with native resolution and ulimited fps.
Why do i get 20-35 standing in HotM? and 20 fps in pvp?
I just want to know what part of my rig is bottlenecking me harder, so I can replace it first.
i dont get it, why should i go for then?

im currently level 55, with 1900 power and my grenades are hitting for 180 each… is something wrong? this is pretty lolworthy.
Currently im leveling using a “ravaging” d/d bleed build for leveling. since i just did 30 and did AC for the first time today, i was wondering for dps if its worth dodging then using death blossom for the extra 3 bleed stacks, or should i not dodge and just sit on the mob?
tldr: im wondering if dodging for caltrops proc is worth it during dungeons.
i know its a stupid question but i just want to do the most damage i can.
i made 40g by selling all dyes / crafting kitten. its simple.
So i just got level 40, been upping my gear around every 5 levels, sitting at about 40g right now. Ive been using a staff.
Mainly ive just been grouping tons of mobs with lightning then 5 them and start casting fire aoe. I can kill 5-6 mobs at a time with no problem, running all the passive skills to boost crit / toughness / speed. I’ve invested nearly all my gear into power/precision, but i have a very healthy amount of toughness and vit on my trinkets.
so my main question is, as i hit 40 and went to the auction house all i see is gear that gears towards precision and condition damage.. is this how to play elementalist? i cant find any power/prec gear anywhere, its just random stuff with condition damage, and i consider condition damage my worst stat when i kill 5 mobs my level in 4-5 seconds with crit and power.
…help? lol.

well im using the minor glyph for speed on kill, so its not bad. im just wondering what advantages does a gun have over a sword? is the 5 skill better than blocking?
well currently, i got a full set of power gear and i just rip stuff up with sword / pistol. if i know im going to be fighting a large group of mobs i summon 2 clones with staff 4 + 5 and shatter them for massive aoe. does any suggest i use a different offhand than pistol?
im really confused as to why this class has such low level damage… very unnapealing
so im basically screwed and have to buy a whole power set plus runes?
i just got the game a couple days ago, and finally got a chance to play. i decided to get a staff and put condition runes in my gear and the 25 stack sigil in my weapon for condition.
even though i have all this invested into condition, my dot damage is still so low. whenever i swap to my dual swords stuff dies twice as fast even though i have no power?

I just got the game in box form 3 days ago, and had to download the huge game file on broad band which took about 3 hours. So after i logged out today to dl the patch it decided to re download all of that i assume, which took around 3 hours. then after i was in game and pressed play, it closed to game and downloaded some measely 11k kbs in 20 seconds and ran the game. was the 11k kbs the patch? if so, why did the game try and redownload itself?
