Well having recently finished Path 1, I will say that getting to the balcony behind the boss helps, in that it makes the adds chase you in more manageable manners (we had 3, then 6 spawn during the fight) that you could focus down. We also found that if you run around the balcony long enough, they will despawn, but we don’t know what triggers their disappearance/reappearance.

I agree it’s not impossible, but the difficulty feels padded and buggy because of the erratic spawning behavior. What took before about 7-10 minutes can reach 3 times that length.

If it’s supposed to be a mechanic, it’s still poorly implemented.

Has anyone else done Path 1 to HoTW?
Nothing was even wrong with this path…

The only things we did in HoTW is close off map exploit possibilities in this recent patch. We didn’t touch any of the bosses to my knowledge.

CoF path 1 is now impossible to complete. First off the stupid boss has 9,000,000,000 health to begin with. Took 20 minutes flat out to kill him.

We didn’t touch that boss in the last patch, and I beat him with a PuG this morning. It is not impossible. It can certainly take lots of time if you don’t kill the crystals he summons though.

I have done HotW for the past 2 weeks just to get the armor set, and until today, I have never encountered Aldus spawning anything in all the times I have fought him.

Then we run path 1 today, and we hit a wall with Aldus because the mobs suddenly spawn, then we run around, they despawn/disappear, rush Aldus, they appear again at full health, or a different set of mobs appear, same thing, all of them have a ton of HP, it was ridiculous.

I am not sure what’s going on, because we ran the path yesterday, AFTER the Winter’s Day patch build went up, and he didn’t spawn anything. Is this bugged or what?

And yet Warriors are the most balanced, least nerfed characters in the game. Don’t let the description fool you. Warriors are SOLID.

You have decent DPS, whether melee or ranged, can bring great support through banners and shouts, tough to take down thanks to highest armor and highest HP in the game, and have a variety of weapon options.

The only thing you really lack are flashy AoEs and the ability to generate combo fields of your own, but you are one of the best classes that take advantage of the fields of others.

HotW heavy was what I wore as I farmed up enough gold for T3

Yeah, actually at first I didn’t feel it, that’s why I got the Twilight Arbor set, but then I realized I liked the stat spread of HotW much better, so I got that too. Now it’s grown on me. It just fits the Norn somehow.

Honor of the Waves has got fur and the salty-sea-dog vibe going for it. You’re wearing a polar bear, after all.

With proper colors though (I won’t exactly call mine proper) you can get something closer to the Viking aesthetic.

I second the motion to have a way to “Ascend” the exotic dungeon armor sets we use tokens to buy, so there will be more incentive to bring people back to running dungeons.

I would also like the story mode to award some sort of reward (like tokens, a buff, or whatever) to players who repeat them to accompany those who haven’t unlocked them, so that those wanting to do story mode can find people to do them with.

I would also like to point out that some of the encounters boil down to hitting HP sponges. That kinda sucks.

Also maybe tweak the spawn-time of Volatile Blossoms in TA?

But first and foremost, a way to “Ascend” our exotic armor sets!

After having read Taugrim’s post regarding his take on Ascended items, I found myself asking a question:

Should ArenaNet even introduce other pieces of Ascended gear besides what we have now and Ascended Weapons?

I agree with Taugrim’s point that gunning for exotics, or at least exotic armor, was the practical goal. Getting exotic gear was challenging but achievable. You could master your crafting disciplines, do fun content like DE Chains in Orr or Dungeon Explorables to earn your exotic gear, which has your desired cosmetics and/or stats. Slot your desired rune set apt for your build, and off you go.

Ascended items seem more grindy than fun. I say if they want to add more Ascended gear, just add Ascended weapons and maybe accessories.

The idea of Ascended armor seems iffy to me because of they way builds depend on the type of armor (Knight’s, Berzerker’s, Carrion, etc.) and the runes slotted into them. Ascended items do not seem to have the normal upgrade slot for runes. What will it have? Infusions that work like runes as well? Seems odd. The rune system we have now is so intuitive and easy for adapting and using in player builds.

My suggestion? Leave armor off the Ascended gear treadmill, OR find a way to “Ascend” what exotic armor you have so you can add the extra set of stats that Ascended gear has. A lot of players probably chose their exotic armor based on aesthetics in addition to, or over the armor stats. It would be nice if you can retain the look you want. Transmutation would not cut it, in my opinion, because you will lose the standard upgrade slot for runes for an infusion slot.

As for runes and rune sets? I don’t know about that one. Have Ascended armor have both the standard upgrade slot and infusion slot?

Anyway, I hope devs at least consider the above suggestions.

P.S. Thanks for making a great game. This is the only MMO I’ve ever heavily gotten into, which is why I feel I need to share my suggestion.

Male Norn Warrior here. For the most part, because of the racial size and physique, most of the Norn I’ve seen are either Guardians or Warriors. Fits the Norn to a tee.

You got hit by diminishing returns. Take a 30 minute to an hour break before starting the same path again with a different character. The situation happened to me before.

30-45 minutes seems fine for a PUG consisting of a mix of experienced players and first-timers depending on the path.

Here are my 2 Norn mains.

A level 36 Norn Warrior in some scale male and other bits and pieces and a level 37 Norn Thief in Tier 1 Cultural Armor. My basic color scheme revolves around shades of red and violet, with a third color providing flair, and distinguishing one main from the other.

I really wish gold was easier to make in the lower levels, because I want my Norn Warrior to be rocking Tier 1 Cultural Armor as well…

Maxed the height on both my Norn thief and warrior. Was gonna go for the big bulky look as well, but there was something off with the head proportion. Went for the body build in between bulky and thin for both, with the warrior having a slightly more pronounced muscle definition (more veins). Running around Wayfarer hills I thought nothing about my height, but then I traveled to other areas and just realized how miniscule the other races are compared to my gigantic Norn. I have to resist the urge at times to shout “puny humans” in other areas.

If I might add something, if there are changes or improvements to the various storylines, I hope there is an option to replay them again, just to see what’s up and to avoid re-rolling and re-leveling characters. Kinda like a new game + but only because I want to replay the story or make different choices because I like the plot… Even at least for the level 1-30 personal story plot. The only problem area I foresee though would be the final order choice. Anyway, played the Norn storyline, and I really liked the “blacked out at a moot” branch. It’s the Hangover GW2 style.

Dodge Timing

I have done that event many times, and on my experience, I dodge whenever he raises the foot. Let me repeat that, WHENEVER HE RAISES THE FOOT. I thought that I was dodging prematurely, but 8 out of 10 times, the giant’s AoE attack, or straight line shock wave won’t hit, and I know it was because I timed the dodge that way because the white “evaded” text pops up. Seems to be the case with other mobs that telegraph their moves. I don’t know if it’s because of latency or lag or whatever, but this has allowed me to go close range and melee the giant with Dagger/Dagger.

One caveat though, if there isn’t enough room for the roll, you’ll tend to miss it more and get squished.

I don’t know where to ask first, so I’m hoping this is the right place to get some help.

I got the game, mucked around with a few characters to get the feel of the product, put some soulbound items in the bank, not really knowing that they can’t be taken out of the bank if the character they are soulbound to is deleted. Well I deleted some characters, but now I have 7 slots in my bank taken up by the soulbound items from those deleted characters that I can’t do anything with.

Is there anyway I can remove them from the bank or delete them?
