I use shortbow on my Ranger, only in WvW though, not PvP.
Are they really needed?
Thank you for the post guys d(^_^d)
Time to start saving!
Hi there,
Since the new traits came out I have been playing around with different possibilities. I mostly play power builds utilizing remorselessness, but that got me thinking about stacking vulnerability with a condition build using opening strikes and sigil of frailty on a SB.
It also got me thinking about perplexity runes for the stacks of confusion on interrupts as you can get one on SB and one from spike trap (though timing is important). Has anyone ever tried something like this?
I would like try it myself but those runes be expensive (-_-;)
Its not hard to guess where a thief is gonna be, make ways to stop them getting their first burst in (Block, dodge, fear, movement skills etc.). My first char was a thief, but then I switched to a ranger. Most thieves see me as an easy target in WvW, but I soon prove them wrong … most of the time.
The thing I am having trouble with is mesmer stealth. I have no clue what they want to do from stealth or what they gain (other than throwing off their position) from stealth. Also do they even get revealed? But playing a mesmer for a while should help with understanding that.
Understanding is the best counter play you can have, and it works really well d(^_^d)
yeah, i don’t really get how you can actually bleed and poison golem as they are mechanical in nature.
Probably because some builds use conditions as their primary damage source, meaning that if golems were immune to conditions, only power build would be able to destroy them.
Not that I don’t agree, its strange to be affected by conditions but not boons.
Looks like fun. I was thinking about something similar but haven’t had the time to try it out yet. Thanks for posting! I look forward to testing it.
this trait in melee builds (GS/S-A) with MOC/ remorseless combos.
Path of Scars —> Maul —> Hilt bash —> Maul, can’t wait to try it! \(^o^)/
Should change the title to how to kill a LB ranger in WvW, not all of us use the LB (^_^)/
It works fine here in Japan, where I play from. I often play with my friend in NZ who seems to have more problems with lag than I do. If anything the time zone difference will be the biggest problem.
3: Protectors Strike, its the only melee block in game that can be triggered & thus ended by ranged attacks.
Making it only end via melee attacks would help allot.6: Cleansing Flame, it removes conditions off of allies but not the guardian. If the number of conditions removed were somewhat lessened but it also effected the guardian it would be much better off.
Well that renders protector’s strike almost useless. I was thinking of trying out mace in my WvW build for the extra blocks on ranged attacks, looks like that’s out the window (-_-;)
The “allies” things in our skills and traits always confuses me, as some effect you and some don’t.
All what ranger needs it … Legendary Llama Pet!
I don’t play s/d on thief but from what I know, use a gap closer to get into steal range then go in for the kill (If you don’t have the daze on steal trait use basilisk venom maybe?).
Pets are very clunky so you should have a decent window of opportunity where you only need to worry about the ranger and not his pet.
I am by no means an expert, but I hope it helps!

Don’t show the scores of either team, unless you are a spectator, and only have the join random button. Once a spectator, you cannot join the game until the map changes.
Maybe?
I am a ranger (also have an 80 thief), and I sometimes use sick em. Some options I can think of are run and LoS or stun the ranger. Seems to be what most thieves do to me when (or if) I use sick em and it works well for them.
Also what is your weapon setup?
From what I know, pets will automatically use their skills when commanded to attack an enemy, or if they are set to aggressive and start attacking.
If you open the pet window you can see the skills that they activate themselves. They will use them in order from right to left.
For example, the moa has normal attack/heal attack/vulnerability attack. Going by this, the order it would use the attacks would be vulnerability attack —> heal —> normal attack regardless of how much health you or you pet have.
Hope this helps with some of your questions!
Do you have any intentions of giving pets (AI across all professions) a brain?
Rangers are fun! I have a thief guardian and ranger at level 80, but for some reason I play my ranger more than the others.
Power Rangers seem to be very common though.
Longbow Rangers are free kills for my condi ranger (^_^), just like I am free kills for some other builds.
I mostly do WvW, but I use this build (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWbOlYom0a8). Works great in solo and small group roaming. Not too useful in zergs.
