Yeah lets make it more of a WOW clone with every patch gg ANET.

Since that feature was available in GW1 (and in many other games!) why do you call it a WoW clone?

There was no armory/web profile and no gear inspection in Guild Wars. I have no idea what you are talking about. You could have people ping their builds (skills/attribute point distribution) later in the game’s life, but that and more (gear ping) is already possible.

I do agree that “WoW/insertrandomgame had it, if we have it too, it’s a clone” is silly reasoning, as well as when it’s used the other way round “we need feature X because game Y had it too”.

As far as I am concerned, inspections can go burn in hell.

I think you’re taking this too serious, just restart your guild, life goes on, games go on too.

Maybe so, but I’m sure if you invested 2000 hours into something you would take it seriously too.

If you really spent 2000 hours on this game since it launched late August 2012, you have bigger problems than this thread is about. That’d be over 83 full days of gaming of an entirety of 184 – that’d mean you would’ve played all day 45% of the time since launch – without eating, sleeping or going to the restroom.

How do you intend to do this content with only with a small group? This is going to be the content which will indeed fill the role of Guild “Raids” and as such is content oriented toward Guild’s which can muster both Skill and Numbers. I am not not an anonymous chunk in my Guild, I personally know most of the active individuals in the Guild. And If I dont know them, I guess ill just have to meet a new friend wont I?

The part about contet scaling slipped your mind, didn’t it?
Also, you might check up on what “knowing” another person or being a “friend” is, because I think your definition of it might be a wee bit messed up.

I am a member of two Guild’s, one comprised of me and a few friends from my school years. Then a large Guild who I have come to enjoy the presence of. It isn’t hard for a person to both manage being in a small and large Guild.

It’s great that you enjoy being part of a big, mostly anonymous chunk, but you might want to remind yourself that not everyone shares your preferences. There are tons of people out there who do not find it enjoyable to be part of a mass of players most of which they know nothing more about than their screen name.

I’m totally fine with you and others enjoying your kind of playstile, but you should not ask everyone else to be the same as you.

Game are also about challenges; Sure maybe unlocking it may be daunting in itself, but you will be doing the same content you enjoyed from 1-80 to achieve this end. If you dont want to wait a long time to jump into the action join a larger guild like I did. If not you can complain about (Not saying that you are)

You are confusing having numbers with having skill. Fielding 200 players does not mean that most of them are able to even discern their elbow from their behind. Accepting an invite from on the numerous “invite-everything-that-comes-across”-guilds out there is not a challenge.

No offense… Your ‘guild’ doen’t even comprise of enough people to make a party. Guild accomplishments that could be completed by ‘guilds’ like yours would be completely meaningless for a guild that is considerably larger, which are most guilds.
I’m sorry your smaller than party-sized guild can’t complete content meant for larger groups, but did you honestly expect the game to always cater to a group your size and never offer content for guilds that are larger and waiting for something to spend their hundreds of thousands of unused influence on?

What do you think that scaling system they love to advertise so much is for? Well, obviously for not using it on guild missions, we can all see that. But since it already exists and is being used on all the other open-PvE DEs, I have to ask you the question why anyone shouldn’t ask for this content to scale as well. Especially with that blog post stating that even smallest guilds would not be left in the dust.

People will complain and whine about everything that is not handed directly to them, I understand that some are in relatively small guild’s(Start recruiting and become more active). But the content being given can be completed without having a large guild, If you really need to do the content then why not join multiple guilds (Problem Solved). This is Guild related content it is suppose to be hard to attain; I bet the same people who are complaining about this are complaining about Ascended Gear and Level Progression.

Nothing, worth having comes easy….

You don’t even bother to try to understand why people are in small guilds, right? Here’s a hint: it is not because they were not able to join the big ant colonies.

Guild mission cost is crud poll.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Genewen.2415

Genewen.2415

That sounded petty, but whatever the case, working for these missions or not is your own prerogative. These missions are not meant for simple walks in the park and I’m fine with that.

You’re messing up “numbers” and “skill”. Having 200 members is not a skill and it does not make a guild or their players “l33t”. It has about the same information value about player skill as having a legendary item: none.

I’d be totally fine with the guild missions being hard and asking for a lot of skill. But they don’t, not really. They ask for a higher number of players to unlock and beat them.

But this is not really a discussion thread. You might want to use one of the numerous threads about this topic out there.

Concerning this thread, I’ll go with A, B and C.

Chaos Gloves : Will they make a come back?

Genewen.2415

They looked terrible, but you definitely noticed how terrible they looked – which was the entire point.

Well, that didn’t work out too well. Since there were tons of those “look at me, I need attention! Am I not cool?”-kids (yeah, I know they weren’t only kids. I personally know some grown-ups in their thirties who were just like that) there were so much of them nobody noticed them anymore. Just take for example the monk – there were so many of em with the combo of tormented shield, chaos gloves and voltaic spear that they were like a freaking clone army. Since they tried so hard to be special, they achieved the exact opposite. You’d have rather noticed someone in a normal armor for not having this.

It’s just the same in GW2 with CoF-armor. Everybody wants to be cool and stand out with dark, burning CoF-armor, but since everybody and their mum wears it, a lot of people ignore it more than they would do with other armors.

Big update? Well, speculation is that its not as big as the devs stated months ago and that the majority of the content promised is being pushed back to march april.

Speculation has it that my dog is homosexual. I don’t even have a dog.

Stop listening to what others think might or might not be. There’s just no basis for any of this in most cases. The only thing they pushed back and which is confirmed by them are major WvW updates. Anything else is supposed to arrive as written in their article.

Will Guild Missions need a levelled Guild

A lot of arguments here are falling flat because they are supporting their points with no accessibility. This is completely wrong. Everyone can participate in the guild missions, whether you are in the guild that kicked it off or not. You still get rewards and everything, you just don’t get to be in the “Spotlight”.

You neither get the full amount of rewards, as in, lacking the guild-specific rewards, nor can you kick off the event but are relient on another guild out there starting a guild mission you want to play right when you want to play it.

Your reasoning fails. Try harder.

Ah well, maybe they just like writing the “we are sorry, in retrospect it was a mistake” blog posts.

Well, at least they shoudl’ve that routine down by now. But first we’ll get some flak that we’re overreacting because we don’t have enough information, just to find each and every fear be confirmed a few days later. The “we could’ve done better and will learn from this for the future”-post will come 7-14 days after the patch, if ever.

Will Guild Missions need a levelled Guild

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Genewen.2415

Genewen.2415

Well, their politics towards smaller guilds has been unfriendly up until now already, so I certainly did not expect them to suddenly adjust upgrade prices to the guild size (which is something that would’ve made a lot of sense). They basically did exactly what I thought they would do, as bad as that idea is.

ArenaNet seems to love their anonymous mass guilds, don’t expect them to do any favours to smaller guilds in which the members actually know each other. Wouldn’t be surprised if the guild missions were nearly impossible to complete with less than 20 players as well.

Silent changes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Genewen.2415

Genewen.2415

I like the idea of stealth changes to the world. This has nothing to do with changes to mechanics, which should always be fully disclosed. But changes to the world itself, whether it’s geography, mob behaviour or events, are something I like stumbling into rather than have a tour map showing me where to find the new sites.

Prior to release, it’s something they said they would do, and it’s something I hope they follow through with.

That sounds like a nightmare to me. I would probably stop playing if they kept changing mob behavior, how are we supposed to fight if we can never know what’s going to happen? A bunch of game mechanics (AOE, dodge, etc) depend on timing and knowing what the animations mean.

By adapting to situation ad hoc? You know, humans can do that. One the changes I most liked in GW:Beyond were the random mobs introduced with War in Kryta. The composition of the groups was always different and each enemy type had several builds of which one was chosen at random. Way more interesting than all the encounters before (and now in GW2) which would for the most part be completely feasible to beat with only running a macro.

Any word on the personality system?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Genewen.2415

Genewen.2415

I was really excited pre-launch for the personality system, then launch came and it wasn’t implemented at all. Has there been any word about it? Will it be in the Jan/Feb updates? Or does Anet have any plans for it at all?

I have no idea what you were hyped for, but not for the personality system that the devs talked about pre-release. They always made clear that it would not unlock or differentiate content, but was just an option to answer in a different way, but with the same outcome. Which is basically exactly what we have.

The movement & strafing!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Genewen.2415

Genewen.2415

This is something i don’t understand… Why did Anet even consider this in their game? IMO strafing should be as the same speed as moving forward and all the speed boosts should affect strafing also.

Well it works exactly like the vast majority of games out there, maybe all of them except MMORPGs. I don’t know any other RPGs or FPS games or even any third person action game that strafing has the same speed as walking forward, I never had a problem with it.

Not only that, the whole concept of being able to face and shoot sideways while being just as fast as somebody who only concentrates of running forward is silly. Dunno how people get such ideas.

I do remember what is was like when strafing was just as fast as running forward, this was something that was still in their early demos on conventions. One could circlestrafe around each and everything that was not a ranged attacker. It did not matter how many foes there were, they’d never catch up to you and you could whittle down even the most ridiculous amounts of enemies if given the time. It was just like everything was Risen Brutes – you can happily run around them, shoot them down with ranged weapons and they will never ever be able to touch you.
I fully support reduced strafing speed.

Almost every server uses this kind of “tactic”. Arrow carts are always placed as close to the inner edge of a wall as possible(exceptions are arrow carts placed by new wvw players) and trebs or catapult are often placed close to the edge of a cliff to get the best range possible. Also i don’t think we should try to apply real life physics to the game;).

Those are smart things to do. Building a catapult on top of water because of what is seemingly a bug is a bit off though. There’s also been several attempts by people to bypass outer walls entirely by exploiting bugs. But that’s all part of the game until those things get fixed.

I’m not going to be abusing those things in name of fair game though because they are obviously not intentionally implemented into the game.

It is not built on water, but on a part of the ledge provided by the wall next to it. This is not some tiny pixel where you can barely stand on with the tip of your toe. Also, this place is very vulnerable to attacks. Nothing indicates that this is a bug.

Bypassing walls or gates is an entirely different matter, and I don’t think anyone will object to this being exploiting.

I will agree with Nauda that you should stop discussing realism in Guild Wars 2. Like he or she said, placement of catapults, trebs or ACs is already very unrealistic. Don’t even get me started on AC’s arrows not having LoS, ballistas with by design vertically unadjustable trajectory firing nearly straigth up- or downwards or placing of siege equipment on slopes.

Oh dear AM exploiting yet again!

Are you can see the Guilds are:

[SC}
[DSW]
[WKS] Woidviertler Kampfsauna
[LC]
[EFS]
[AI]
[BS] Bane Sidhe
[EoM] Edge of Madness

But we’re used to a lot of AM cheating since back when we were on Gunnar’s Hold.

So it is an exploit setting up a catapult to take down walls? Or do I miss something in this picture?

I know there is this comment in the team chat that they are glitching, but as far as I can see, all they do is swim around in front of the walls and put a catapult where the water is shallow enough.

Also, you might want to watch your vocabulary. Servers don’t cheat, individuals do. The server as a whole can never be held responsible nor be accused of cheating as long as it does not support this behavior. The server who has cheaters on it is just as much a victim as its opponents. Also, the small group of people who cheated back in the days against Gunnar’s was found and kicked from the guild they were in. Obviously they behavior was not approved, so you might want to stop your infantile b…ickering about the past.

Golem-Trebuchet Disappearing at Server Restarts/Patches
Habbib stated that next patch golems will be unmanned and stay at location where player got disconnected which is great news but how about trebuchets?

You did not understand Habib correctly there. Golems will NOT stay where they are when new patches hit the game. They will disappear just like any other siege equipment.
What Habib talked about was that when single players disconnect/Alt+F4, the golems these players were in will not disappear like they did before. Instead, the golems will stay there and wait for another player to use it.

Sunnyhill’s gate’s hitbox has always been buggy. You have to position your golems on the sides of the gate to have a chance of hitting it. Either right or left side works.

Lava Font is a skill that requires line of sight, so either there was an Ele on the wall that hit you or you were near the gate so the AoE would still affect you. Nothing to do with the camera exploit.

I did not say that they did it for the rewards. Farming events in PvE would still be more efficient than WvWing if that was their objective, especially seeing how often they fail due to your persistant guarding.

Also, it’s not really expensive to push such an upgrade. Hiring a second worker is done real quick, burns 300 of the 500 remaining supplies and costs only 7s 50c. Easily affordable since the whole group just now got the event rewards.

No, what I suspect is that they thoroughly enjoy the trolling, loving to feel superior compared to those “idiots” playing by the ToS and either thinking that they won’t be permabanned, or they just don’t care. I’ll add a little about the vindictive nature of PRO though, they are definately not just doing it for Karma and silver. When they capped Hills earlier today they burnt through 1700 supplies very very fast. So they are definately doing it for tactical advantage.

You’re forgetting that they don’t get 1700 supplies. When they take over, all the upgrades reset, so you can have 500 supply max. If you recon that the fortification will be gone again soon and don’t want your enemies to have the supply, you can on top of that burn the supply by ordering some cheap upgrade.

And the value in calling our entire server paranoid and foolish at many points in this thread for merely bringing up the suggestion that there may be hackers on your server?

It works both ways so please don’t add to the frustration with statements like this.

I’ve been a very strong advocate for defence that the minority are at fault in game and not the entirety of AM.

You may want to re-read this thread. Not once has you (or your entire server) been called paranoid and/or foolish for bringing up the topic of PRO hacking fortifications. Starfall only wrote (and even retracted by now because it was a misunderstanding) that he thought that the accusation that we were knowingly capitalizing on the hacking or even spying for them was silly. Us saying that we never heard of them is not the same as rejecting your accusations. So please stop spouting such nonsense.

Your advocating that it is just a minority that is hacking is very much appreciated, but nevertheless I’d want to encourage you to still not vent your anger about that minority time and time again in this thread when all has been said and done days ago. The ball’s now in ANets court and no complaining will change this.

Good Fight at AM border today guys, u guys really hold sunnyhill after so much pressure, good def there^^

Yeah, I saw that part, just wanted to emphasize again that a big chunk of our players are not organized in any way. A normal pattern for those is that they see on the map that some keep in an enemy borderland got capped, notice there might be some nice capping troop over there they can join for some karma and XP and then just switch over and run whereever they see the orange swords or a commander icon.

We had some good fights today on EB. Had some hard time standing our ground with having considerably lower number pretty much throughout the whole afternoon and evening, even getting the Outmanned-“Buff” most of the time. Over the course of an hour, Gandara went for Mendons like maniacs. Whenever we whiped them, they’d be back ten minutes later at most. Took all we had to defend the tower, so AR managed to get Ogrewatch from us. Still, was a lot of fun, even if it was very frantic getting the few guys we had to whereever they were needed that moment.

There are only a few noticable guilds in WvW and as I never heard about them, SK is not among them. That you most certainly got the name wrong (Straumkrafen is no word in any language I’d know of, including German) does not make this much easier. Logging out when downed is always dishonorable, but there’s not much one can do outside the own guild as far as this is concerned.

Kudos to both Jade Sea and Aurora Glade in regards to that, after last week’s Gandara, where about every fifth “kill” was a Alt+F4 one, it is really pleasent to see people taking their defeat with honor and staying in the game. There were a few log-offs, but they were very few until now. Thank you.

Blind can be very weak and at the same time, insanely strong. If you see a crucial attack coming and blind it in time (depends on the skill you use – Lightning Surge for example is really bad at this), it is huge. If you time it bad or the blind is anticipated, it is weak.

And smoke fields plus projectiles is strong however you look at it.

Sorry, but no. I don’t want to have to disengage any movement or action just to stop attacking, and I don’t intend to go through hoops to remap keys or anything to do something that should already be part of the game, just like it was in Guild Wars, which had autoattack AND a way to stop it.

You don’t have to stop moving. Well, I don’t, I can reach Esc with my pinky just fine while moving about, and I can’t see why my hand should be special in this regard. Stoping an action? While, you’re autoattacking you won’t be using another skill at that time anyways, so what’s the deal?
