This is just a simple – and, for many of us – enjoyable April Fools Day joke. For posters on this forum to try and associate it in any way with the recent tragedy is insulting and inflammatory, at minimum.

It is really easy to draw lines between things that, in reality, have nothing to do with each other. For example, different races fight against each other every day in GW2 pvp, but I don’t think anyone sees that as a statement about, or allusion to, racial strife in the real world.

I think we are seeing a lot of these posts because people don’t like the joke (which is okay) but realize simply stating that wouldn’t have the same impact as trying to incite moral outrage (which is ridiculous in this case – its just a simple April Fool’s Day joke).

Having players stick their arms out to the side and giving the screen a 1950s aviation film feel isn’t a social statement or allusion to anything – it’s just a fun little joke (which will be gone later today anyway).

Believe it or not, DX11 won’t do much to improve GW2. DX12 / OpenGL / Mantle would improve it immensely.

Over all GW2 and many MMOs are CPU bound. The low level programming capability of the APIs mentioned above would significantly reduce CPU stress and allow the game to run much better.

The future looks great for MMOs when DX12 and OpenGL next become widely used. RIP Mantle btw, AMD just announced.

Hello friends! After thinking for a bit, I believe that the success of the new Stronghold PvP game type may depend on the ability to create templates. Templates, to me, is the ability to set up your character armor, weapons, traits, and skills exactly how you want and save this build to quickly swap between other templates.

Hugh and Grouch said that Stronghold will bring in great opportunity for unique and off meta builds. This is made possible by the different aspects that bring the game type together.

The reason for templates is very apparent. Stronghold will be part of the regular queue and this means that people will have very little time to switch their builds, once they find out the map will be stronghold. Most of us would simply use our default Conquest builds and this can really affect the distinguished opportunities that Stronghold presents.

Has there been any word on Templates being included in HoT?

What do the rest of you think?

Warrior is an extremely versatile class IMO. You can do all forms of damage. Have awesome Cc. Can be tanky. Power or condi. Great mobility.

Great points. I would certainly look into a power supply as well. As far as upgrading to a newer CPU, that will net you only marginal increase. Keeping your current MB and getting something like a i5-2500K and overclocking it would be the best way to maximize performance looking down the road (if they are still available). Right now it’s clock speed not architecture that is making the most difference from 2000-4000 series Intel CPU.

However, if you run at 1080p resolution getting better power supply (that fits your Micro ATX case) and an HD 7870-7950 would be your best bet, in the near future. Many of the new Radeon R7-R9 GPUs are simply tweaked 7000 series.

This site is great for professional opinion at any price segment. Keep in mind that the October edition should be out soon and would probably significantly different because of all the price changes with Nvidia and AMD. I would wait for that.

Do wars stop at night?

This would be unfair to Australian players or players who work non 9-5 hours. Frankly, the problem seems to be organized servers vs unorganized servers. A small group of a couple parties using tactics can subvert high numbers.

It is our responsibility as gamers to find tactics that would be successful in different situations.

I’m an American, and frankly I love Aussie guilds (I used to be in an Aussie Rift guild when I had weird hours)
Please do not think this minority is representative of us normal American players.

it is a place for people to have fun in another way, apart from PVE and sPVP. most people who are playing it enjoying it. that’s the most important thing… just because few people don’t like it, i very much doubt they will scrap it….

WvW is an option…. if you don’t like it there are other aspects in the game that you can explore, like the dungeons for example. not like it also ? try other thing. don’t like any ? i don’t know what to say…..

I get it as well that some people enjoy it, but just taking a quick glance at the front page quite a few arent liking it and I notice the these posts are popping up more and more. If you made a bunch of mini servers where you fought over just borderlands or just eternal battlegrounds it would be the same thing just with no queues. Plus your character would be geared up, and level 80. When I rvr I dont pve, ie take keeps, objectives, dolyaks, none of that is pvp to me. I get 35xp for killing someone…..WTF lol. Its another game where Im forced to do things I hate to do to enjoy what I like. or what Id thought Id like which is the W3, which I dont in this state ha.

Oh, so those people who enjoy the wvwvw still would do the same thing, just no queues and instead of pressing queue for this map you just join the one on the list you want. Cause it would suck for your whole guild to get into the same map at once

IMO give them some time to work on things. Though I gotta say the free transfers was a silly idea.

Simple fact of the matter is that loot chasers are NEVER going to like WvW as putting in loot to chase just leads to stupid player behaviours (look at WAR). As Arenanet already have your money I dont think they mind if you go either.

Winning should not have a reward. its jsut for the pride. Perhaps capping a tower or castle when your server is down and out should give you a mystic coin or two.

Last point. If they add rewards to WvW people will just complain they take too long to get. A WvW glory rank would be sweet though.

BTW as long as your case has good air flow, you probably won’t need crazy water setups. Check out sites like tomshardware, anandtech, etc and they will have good overclocking parameters.

They really need driver support and optimizations. My machine is a beast and I get low framerates, even away from WvW.

You might be playing the wrong class/build if you think warriors are useless. They are extremely versatile in many roles.

One very important thing to think about with FRAPS is your storage speed. Fraps uses uncompressed raw video. That means 50+ MB a second depending on your resolution. MB = megabyte, not Mb = megabit (as is used with network connections)

Also, FRAPS has a free option, so why not just try it out?

you can try different settings in the drivers. I would also try using a program like driver sweeper to completely uninstall the drivers and then reinstall them.

Why not jump into the mists and build out a level 80 and check? FWIW, I have heard that mesmers are the best 1v1 in game. You can check taugrim’s website, as he plays a mesmer, and enjoys his time with them.

My daughter started GW1 when she was 8. She found her own fun in game. Her goal was not to kill everything she saw, but to run around with her pet and have fun. Her leveling was slow but exploration experience was better than mine. I had to help her with some quests, but as soon as I got over difficult points she continued on her own again. She aquired all possible pets and mini pets. She changed armor like every week. She was extremly unsattisfied wit my selection of armor dyes and I had to listen to her witch colours I should be used. She learned how to communicate with people in english language. Well, that could hardly be called english, for me it was more like some sort of very bad international version of english, but who cares. She could communicate on her own.
Now she is perfectly mentaly healty young teen. No traumas, no suicidal or killing tendencies, she has developed social skills, and yes, she can be kitteny like every other teen with raging hormones popping out.
Violence, adult themes? I had some concern about it, but, turn on TV or open newspaper and tell me about violence and adult themes. In fact, she just jelled at me the other day why did I killed that beautifull moa bird.

Reyon over at Team Paradigm website has written an extensive Necro guide for builds (although spvp based). Perhaps that can help you?

Make sure it’s a 660ti and not a vanilla 660. Also, if you are able, overclock that shiz. It will make it as powerful as a 670.
