WvW isn’t supposed to be fair. If you want fair there is sPvP.
WvW is supposed to be 24/7 warfare between the servers.
Lol, you should try playing on TC or maguuma. It would change your perspective.
I’ve played an under populated realm in DAoC for many years. I know how its like to be dominated. Its just how WvW is supposed to be played.
And DAoC topped out at what, 250k subs?
I really don’t think ArenaNet’s intention for WvW is for it to become a niche game at the DAoC or Eve Online level. They are thinking in terms of the mass market: millions of copies sold.
That said, if the snowball effect/off-peak/map domination issue is not fixed, WvW will become a niche game mode, at the DAoC level.
Don’t think it’s fair to bring up sub base when DAoC came out many years ago(when MMOs were smaller), and GW2 is brand new (MMOs being well known).
Plus it’s silly to compare p2p with f2p.
At night (right now) pop of Dragonbrand is more than the combined pop of Maguuma and Tarnished Coast.
When the teams are even Dragonbrand gets pushed back to their original positions and then Maguuma and Tarnished Coast start trying to eat each other instead of wiping out Dragonbrand.
Then night comes and Dragonbrand takes everything again with their overwhelming numbers.
Exactly, those uncontested hours where DB racks up the points are the problem. I presume DB has a high AU/NZ presence, which is why they have so many at night. Perhaps some AU/NZ servers would fix this issue? Otherwise, I’m not really sure what can be done to fix it. You can’t just tell the AU/NZ people to even distribute themselves across the NA servers. They probably wouldn’t want to; at least official AU/NZ servers could offer them better latency.
The fact we have a strong 24/7 server..
From what I can tell…don’t play in the mornings or early prime time.
It’s a good thing, just wish we were going against similar servers
As much as I like the xp, I would love the fights more, since when I do get on I see the tail end of TC&Mag huge zergs.Which why people from the Oceanic regions, which I presume you are, should have their own servers so that they can enjoy those fights, rather than capping points from servers without resistance because majority of the NA population is sleeping.
Actually I’m in the states, just have a weird schedule going on right now.

No it wouldn’t.. My server is up against Vizunah[FR].. so I know quite well how it goes… and having played DAoC for many years, these situations aren’t new to me.
vnboards? Name looks familiar..
I was really just a lurker there though, only had 300~ posts

^ actually we’ve been having good organization for the most part in the field.
and to answer title question, actually this really is how WvW is supposed to be.
if one or two sides gives up, why can’t the 3rd continue just taking stuff? Especially if they don’t go to defend, or if they’re there they run off after gates/walls are down
Loved the dance line
If they made it where they weren’t repairable while under attack I’d be happier.
no
just doesnt seem fair for what WvW is
Some of us usually only get time to play at night. We’re not all on the same schedule as you.
I live in the US and play on a US server, and one of the biggest reasons I wanted to buy this game was the WvW, why should I not be allowed to play it?
^ this, I live in the US as well.
Also I’m a student, and my classes are from 12-4pm so when I do finish homework the only time I get to play is late PM to early AM.
and besides, ANet already commented on how its supposed to be this way (24/7 war)
why do people keep complaining?
plus look at it from another point of view..it stinks when we work so hard when I’m online just to log on and see what y’all do during the day when I’m in class and doing homework

My only problem with the way siege works in this game is that you can repair when its under attack.
As an 8 year (on and off) DAoC veteran, sPvP seems like the waste of time. Meaningless cage fights to grind some pixels? No thanks, that is what nearly every other MMO has. Large scale warfare with server wide ramifications (bonuses)? Yes please!
I have to highly agree with you.
Thats the reason I picked up GW2 to begin with. Now I can finally cancel my subs for DAoC and play this full time.
Isnt the point of 3factions that there can be alliances?
yes thats exactly the point of it.
Working as intended
As someone said, obviously some of y’all never played DAoC.
I remember back in DAoC this would happen to one of the three realms. Sometimes it would happen for a week or two. Two realms always attacking and keeping the 3rd realm from doing anything. Eventually though it will shift. Its basically allowing players to “police” the action.
