…10% reduction in crit damage =/= 10% loss in dps. Not unless you have 100% crit chance, which sure, some builds do, but most people sit around 60%. Even if you have fury taking you to 80% all the time; crit damage is not the entirety of your dps.
Though this is still the most idiotic change Anet have made to date, of that I’ve no doubt. xD
This is literally my favourite change. Why would you have a problem with MORE utility? If you want to stun+slash, just hit it 2 bloody times. If you want to say, burn the stun > Infiltrators strike in > slash instantly while opponent is stuck for 1sec compared to 0.25 or 0.5 or w/e the stun is, you can.
Seriously this allows for way better hit-and-run. I already run PW in PvP, I’m so psyched for this change.
Not to mention timing evades is a LOT easier if you don’t have a 3/4s cast time on the stun to deal with. I’m simply curious as to how long you have the option to slash after using the stun.
I mean for one thing; the stun barely holds anyone for 3 hits anyway. The application of Infil > Straight into slash is waaaaaaay better.
Stop being so negative, you make all the other thieves sad to come near this board.
Charry Potter (An ele nonetheless!) and Charrlie Sheen are the best I’ve personally seen.
I’d use the kit multiple times a day to be perfectly honest; there isn’t an item in the game I want more.
I didn’t really play much till after christmas last year, and certainly wasn’t at a stage where 100g+ was a thing for me. I would even be happy if they came down to 3-400 now, but in general I think it would be pretty sucky if such a desirable item was left entirely exclusive to playing a single christmas. I’m cool with exclusives, just not with an item which should frankly be an integral part of the bloody game. (Ala hair dressers/barbers).
This was obviously offered in the wintersday boxes last year; was simply wondering if we could get any info on whether or not this would be offered again this year. We seem to have strayed away from RNG boxes that aren’t BL chests, but I’d be really really disappointed if my only method for getting this is going to be “Spend >2500g”.
Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing; I’m simply curious as to whether or not we’ll be getting another go at them.
I’m not 100% certain, but I’m relatively sure that the permanent contracts were nothing to do with Black Lion Chests. They dropped from the rare Wintersday boxes.
I’d certainly like it if the chests had more exciting and useful items like the ones suggested, just feel I should point out that the items of the same sort in the game already didn’t come from the chests. (Or so I believe.)
I play a thief too, and I think this makes things a little balanced:
1. You can still run away while visible, like every other class does. There are plenty of displacement skills and great run-speed.
2. Games are more interesting when there are plays and counter-plays. Thief has potential to not be only a predator who stalks other people and kills or runs at will. It may be upsetting, but every other class had to deal with being thief prey before.
3. The cost is too high unless you have tons of badges already. I am not exchanging 15 badges + 10s for the CHANCE that the theif is terrible and doesn’t know how to survive when he can’t abuse a broken mechanic. Its not like the trap immobilizes or reduces your damage significantly. It only reduces your access to stealth skills. If that hampers your play-style – RUN. I promise if you actually practice not abusing stealth, you will still beat most other classes in a foot-race as you run away, especially if you are clever with your shadow-steps and shadow-shots.
While I really do hate thief QQ’ing (My main is a thief and she’s the only one I use for WvW) You actually summed up what’s bullkitten about the trap. “Great at getting away” “Especially if you’re clever with your /shadow-shots/” “practice not abusing stealth”
The issue I have is that we’re being ever forced into more and more specific builds. I don’t use a short-bow, nor do I use signet of shadows. I can still get away, sure, using stealth. I don’t WANT to have to use signet, I don’t WANT to have to use a shortbow, just to make sure I can actually escape a losing fight, especially not when my primary class mechanic has been deemed broken, and my stats are sub-par.
I am still personally of the opinion that stealth isn’t a broken mechanic. Sure, you could cut down how much of it we have; push CnD’s ini cost way up, reduce SR’s stealth time. Whatever, but frankly, if you’re a decent player getting beat by a very decent thief, I’m comfortable saying that very decent thief could have done the same thing on pretty much any other class without much trouble.
I don’t play the thief because I think it’s the best way of getting kills or roaming or whatever, I do it because it’s by far the most fun, and requires way more finesse than most classes. This trap is basically saying “Right enough of that mechanic, do something else” and we’re sitting going “Well… without stealth, I am numerically stronger playing pretty much any other class. It’s not like my skills are any better than anyone elses, my stats are worse…”
This is the first proper thief nerf that’s really irked me. We’ll see how much we encounter it, but I just don’t think it was necessary at all.
One time use. The one I have anyhow. I got it on my second box, first one gave me a skin. Shrug I’m sure it’ll be handy some farming run when I have a load of greens I’d rather forge than vendor.
