I would also like to know of a server where Dwayna is open
Only a WvW player farms cursed shore and kittens their pants over all the loot they’re getting.
I think it would be incredibly complex path finding to calculate your pet leaping off walls. Not to mention that you’d have to start calculating falling damage on pets too.
Is that beyond their reach then?
Because if I don’t, my pet still does.
It’s not a big issue I guess, just kind of annoying sometimes when I choose to jump from a small height instead of use the stairs and my pet goes all the way around.
Just wondering if this is how it will always be or if they are working on something where the pet will follow you down.
How do you guys feel?
I really enjoyed the new daily system for the first two days. Now it’s pretty boring, just like the old system, same thing over and over again. I understand that it changes from day to day but there’s only nine options.
I agree that the ‘daily laurel vender’ daily is pretty lame.
The way I see it is as just a boring thing I can do if I want the reward and won’t do if I don’t want the reward.
Hey everyone, I’m here to help clear up some of the confusion on this issue!
First, our apologies for the inaccurate response: your system clock does not affect your loot drops (sorry, conspiracy theorists). We’ve corrected this information for future responses.
If you’re not receiving loot from a champ/vet, it’s most likely because you’re not getting kill credit. We’re currently working on some improvements to this so that it will be easier to get rewards when you kill a creature.
Thank you for bringing this up!
Can we have the requirements for ‘kill credit’?
Same reason to play any week: fun. If you ain’t havin fun its not like Anet rewards you for wvw anyway so what were you here for in the first place?
This.
Any chance we might get a chance to the slightly awkward badges system we have right now? Moving the bags to the feet of the player is nice and all, but it doesn’t help much in a thick battle, and I’m sure most of the players actively engaged in wvw have had their share of lost bags. AFAIK, there once was an answer among the lines of “we don’t have the tech for that now”, but I can’t really see how this should prove to be unsolvable…
As a suggestion: Couldn’t we just get rewards based on a slightly modified monthly tracker? You know, the one that says “players killed in wvw” – just add an npc that hands out as many bags as the counter says and resets it back to zero.
In the beginning players killed NPCs and found loot on the NPC corpses. That setup is nice because it makes sense (gruesome sense, but still sense). If you kill a dude where is his stuff? In his pockets of course (see also: The Hobbit). If the corpse decayed then a bag was left behind so players would have one last chance to pick it up (it doesn’t hurt that rendering a bag is cheaper than rendering a high-poly character model.
Then WvW was born and players started killing players. At first we left the loot on the corpses as before but then a thousand player voices rang out and said “WTF man? I can’t jump down off this wall to get my loot because there’s like a hojillion enemy guys down there waiting to plant me like a tulip bulb!” or “WTF man? I can’t get up on top of that wall to get my loot because the whole point of a castle is that people can’t do that stuff!” We heard those pleas and, after some internal arguments (er, design discussions) we decided that realism could go suck it because getting loot is awesome.
So why did we put the bags at your feet rather than just dumping the items into your inventory? Part of the answer is that it was the smallest possible change that could work (programmers like stuff like that). We already had the bag spawning system so we could just reuse it. Another part of the answer is that picking up loot can be a bit like unwrapping a present and we didn’t want to ruin the unwrapping for everybody. Finally, if we just start putting loot into player inventory then we need to deal with a bunch of edge cases and at the time we had more pressing issues to work on. For example, when your inventory fills up items you receive go into inventory overflow and your character becomes encumbered. That makes you move really slowly and that didn’t seem like a nice thing to do to people in the middle of a fight. There were some others that I don’t recall off the top of my head, but suffice it to say there were some thorny design questions about the best way to handle it.
We have tossed around some ideas for ways to improve the system but it’s relatively low priority so nobody is actively working on it right now.
This type of communication is great. I truly appreciate it.
Would increasing the radius of loot bags be a viable option if you guys don’t want an auto-loot system? I feel the radius to actually search the bag of loot is very small at the moment.
I also miss guild halls and boss weapon drops
Very disappointed in CD.
Was in the jump puzzle. The path forward was blocked by 2 CD. I tried to challenge them to send one to fight me one on one.
Unfortunately I was simply too intimidating for them, and both came down to 2 v 1.
Fortunately I’m on my thief and thief’s never die so I just used shadow refuge to run out of combat and waypoint away.
For shame CD, for shame. Where’s your sense of fun?
Lol. So you beckoned them and they came? How disappointing.
Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 are completely different games.
I have a couple questions:
What world are you living in that you don’t think this kind of stuff happens?
How could someone who complains about this even have $60 in the first place?
What the kitten are necromancers and elementalists getting a speed buff for?
I don’t understand how this “issue” can possibly be complained about. It isn’t even an issue at all. The war goes on 24 hours a day. That’s how it is.
Option 1:
Try to convince some Oceanic guilds to come to your server.
Option 2:
Dedicate your life to WvWvW and start sleeping during your daytime and playing during your nighttime. Get some of your buddies to do the same thing and BOOM you’ll have a nighttime population before you know it!
Option 3(required):
Get over it.

Whoever is in charge of the Dragonbrand forces in EB is not a smart cookie.
As far as I’m concerned, playing on dragonbrand, any commanders I see are absolute incompetent idiots until rigorously proven otherwise, and there’s only a very few who have met that requirement. Generally I just try to organize things as best I can, but without shelling out 100 gold for a silly blue mark, it can be very difficult to do that.
I hear you there, Its taken me months upon months to get the respect I have; WithOUT an icon. I still get resistance from newer folks. It takes fortitude and inner strength to continue to try to lead in these times. Its all worth it when at least some listen and you are succesful in your goals.
A silly blue mark would make things easier for you guys
But……….. The puzzles are in WvWvW…….
@ Kurow
No, I didn’t know I wasn’t paying a monthly subscription. Thank you for informing me. I will stop mailing ANet checks every month.
I paid for the game. I am a paying customer.
Who said I wanted to leave? Remember, when you assume, you make an kitten out of yourself (I’m pretty sure that’s how the saying goes…).
Let me reiterate myself so you understand: I will not show ANet any respect because they have shown the ranger community the complete opposite of respect. They have lied to us.
I don’t enjoy being lied to. It’s very frustrating. So my only option is to leave because no one is forcing me to play? No, I’m not a child, I don’t see things so black and white. I quite frankly enjoy playing the game on other professions. So, I will continue to play the game. I know, mind=blown.
Lol @ SF without DB
I think it’s mostly because of this lie: “when it’s ready”
When you build a relationship on a lie, that relationship tends to fail.
Governor: Then what was the point to do a nerf and try to cover it up with lies, Governor? I don’t get it. How is this supposed to make the bots all angry and go away?
Agree to disagree then? Unfortunately we have no facts to back our theories up as ANet is no longer a creditable source for information on their patches. This is just our opinions.
This move wasn’t done to do with them. If they even wanted to attempt at reaching them, they would of proudly declared: ‘’We are nerfing the ranger’’ and not gone at it by trying to hide, cover up and lie about this nerf.
I would have to disagree. I don’t think they would have done that.
Q: When does ANet decide to “fix an animation bug”?
A: When you’ve only spent a couple hours on that class
I’m betting they will just put it behind all the other bugs that were “first”. Don’t expect a fix for a long, long time. It doesn’t seem like they are even prioritizing the important ones. How was an animation bug topping the list?
I honestly can’t believe they are using staff to do a Halloween event. Shouldn’t they be capitalizing on their game first? Fixing all the issues?
On that bitter note, time to re-roll. I’ll see all you rangers on the other side… the other class side.
The reason I am upset is because it says they implemented this “patch” because of an animation glitch which, as I’ve said before, seems like a lazy way to fix the glitch. I mean, how could they not compensate even if it wasn’t bugged with the reasoning they gave us. This animation glitch gives me hope and makes me think that they screwed up and they will fix it… obviously not soon. I would feel as if I had “closure” with the ranger profession if they said that they nerfed it. As much as I would hate it, I wouldn’t be on the forums posting these posts and checking to see if they had any news on their recent screw up. That’s what makes me disgruntled.

I love how everyone is claiming the warrior is the most OP or most complete class.

Longbow is only good for area denialOnly thing warriors have is insane burst on stationary targets (use your dodge button and suddenly the warrior does no damage), or CC out the wazoo. You can’t even have access to both.
It’s currently regarded as one of the most useless classes in dungeons and sPvP. There’s a ranger on every tPvP team guaranteed.
It sucks that you got a slight nerf, but don’t try to drag every class with you just because you can’t ultra-bleed people to death anymore."

Lets trade Ranger and Warrior Longbow shall we?
Everyone isn’t. This thread is suppose to be about the recent ranger patch. I and a lot of rangers don’t think this is a ‘slight’ nerf.
To be fair, even with the nerf, I still generated enough aggro on the Champion at the end of Plinx to pull him away from whoever he was attacking, and on to me.
As far as the slowdown goes, I’m OK with a slowdown, if they bump damage appropriately to compensate.
I honestly don’t see why they didn’t do that in the first place. If the reason is actually the animation bug like they say it is, why didn’t they compensate? It doesn’t make sense to me that they can slow down a skill and just leave it at that because of an animation bug.
Anyway, I hope this is fixed BEFORE the next patch. I really don’t want to wait a week to play my main.
I think some of you guys are forgetting that they gave a reason for this “patch”. They didn’t say they did it because the shortbow is over-powered. They didn’t say they did it because too many bots use this weapon. They said they did it to fix an animation bug. I hope there’s more reasoning behind that than they said because that sounds lazy but that’s what they said.
This “patch” seems like a very lazy way to deal with a bug that backfired badly. Does anyone else feel the same way? Anyway, that’s just my opinion.
I support a better way to deal with these issues. Diminishing rewards is severely punishing legitimate players. This system will absolutely ruin this game.
