Mount- Not gonna lie I was wicked apprehensive about mounts being added to the game, due to past experiences with other games. So my hats off to you for making me legitimately enjoy the raptor, the animation felt spot on for a raptor and it was a blast parkoring over sand dunes and dopey forged.

Map- Beautiful map I like that it wasn’t just a boring pile of sand like it could have been, instead its very dynamic. May I suggest adding a meta event like in other living world maps, I feel it would make it much more lively

Mobs- Mobs are creative with interesting new fight mechanics it seems, my only real complaint is it feels a bit to easy compared to the mobs in HoT. I can understand the random creatures being easier to fight, but I was expecting a meatier challenge from the forged who are the god of war’s minions. I literally just threw together a random squish mesmer build and rolled though them like a lawnmower though mom’s flowerbed. I dunno maybe I just got good at fighting the mobs in HoT.
(why do I feel like I’m going to eat these words later)

Overall- pretty solid, with a few tweaks we could have something great here if you ask me

Rifle Thief: how does it make you feel?

Getting nuked for 10k as soon as you step out of your spawn point by a rifle thief standing on top of SM is why I will be surprised if the stealth attack for rifle is the big power hitter on the weapon. I’m curious to see what direction it will be taken in.

I'll buy the next expansion, but

+ 25% run speed is pretty sought after for obvious reasons, but even if Mirage doesn’t have it it might have ways to gain high swiftness uptime or the like.
Failing that they might put out more runes that have +25% move speed, though I don’t find that as desirable of an option

Backstab and WvW

I’ve spent alot of time working on precasting backstab in to steal, its tricky but it seems to work pretty well, I actually almost gibbed a squish with just the backstab alone for 10k. Of course my failure keyboard butterfingers prevented me from actually finishing they guy off but still.

Backstab seems kinda hard to land on a moving target in WvW and I see so many thieves just just going F1 1111111111 dodge 311111111111 (if D/P)
Is backstab even worth it anymore?

Oddly enough there seems to be a large arena like room in the obsidian sanctum that seems to serve NO purpose what so ever to my knowledge and the map itself is almost always deserted. That might be a good place to dual or do GvG without interference.

Just wanted to say thank you for everyone kittenponded to this thread, I appreciate the advice, especially after the constant 10 game losing streaks I’ve been having. I learned alot and I hope with the newer gaming mouse I bought my games will improve.
See you all in que.

I’m certainly thinking about getting a gaming mouse so I can bind 6 though 0 to it as well as dodge especially for the faster paced classes like thief (I suck I thief).

I’ve also seen this Rotate word come up many many times, what does that mean in the PvP context I’m not 100% familiar with the terminology.

What does it really take to get “good” at PvP in this game, I’ve been playing since beta and I still feel like I get roflstomped 70% of the time.

Why is it ok for eles to be unkillable?

in PvP

For eles it really depends of the build, the more defensive auramancers can be a pain to put down if played right, but the more offensive eles will melt like butter in the middle of a volcanic vent.

Any staff roamers out there?

Low stealth, build, like it. What’s the matter?

I am a keyboard klutz in general when it comes to anything pvp, but if I had to pick one thing, I would say I that I am having trouble finding a strong, reliable initiation combo for staff. I’ve been experimenting with bound into steal followed by vault but am having issues landing it.

I’ve been experimenting with somthing similar but my build is sort of a work in progress. Also not gonna lie, the 11k reverse vault that downed the zerker made me laugh.

Anybody else having any luck using staff while roaming in WvW?
My attempts to do so have felt extraordinarily clumsy.

Mordrem Invasion Update: 11 September 12:30 PM

- Honestly I like the idea of doing Mordrem invasions in lower level areas, it introduces them to newer players and lets veteran players visit old areas they have had no reason to go to in a long time.

- I was a participant in the huge mob invasions back in the Scarlet living world arc and I like how an effort was made to evolve the events past: “Everyone smash champ’s face in until the portal closes” However I do agree with the people that mentioned the lack of a climax or boss fight. So about those Bad Kitten Mordrem generals you are talking about ;-)

- While I understand that the loot and XP from the Scarlet invasions was way out of control (I personally leveled at least 2 characters from, about 30-40ish to 80 on them and made stupid amounts of gold) I feel that giving no loot/coin or XP from the invasion events/mordrem enemies gives the vast majority of people little reason to attend them. I myself was looking forward to getting on a lowbie and leveling up while stomping all over mordrem in a lower level area, but the lack of XP gives me little reason to attend the events with anything other than an 80. But honestly the worst hurt are the people without level 80s just trying to level up their first character.

All this said I do appreciate the effort A-net and I am happy you where honest with us about the invasion flopping, keep at it though I am sure I am not alone in saying I would like to see more large scale invasion events like this in the future it helps the world feel more dynamic and alive.

Any other WvW berserker staff-wielders?

I also am a staff, berserker build elementalist. Yeah the damage is nice but I am very very squishy. I find that my character is strongest as a part of a large group where I am not so easy for thieves to pick out. In small group skirmishes I tend to die before I can reach my full damage potential. So stacking some vitality/toughness probably isn’t a bad idea.
