Personally, I really like one-time skins. They are just cosmetic and it’s a good way to show prestige for vets of the game in a few years.

It’s also a great way to alienate new players. It doesn’t affect me personally. I have 4 skins via Baubles and have been lucky with an additional 4 skins via chests (opened about 100 chests I think).

I’m just thinking about little Johnny Gamer who picks up GW2 this summer, sees someone running around with the Super Greatsword and says “Oh wow, I really want that! How do I get it?”

“Sorry, Johnny, it was a one-time event. You’re out of luck.”

Not the greatest experience for a new player.

This is also the same way i feel, i don’t think people should be punished for not being able to play at any given time.

I myself get very little time to play, and of course don’t give me a crutch, but please do not release something that i can not work towards in the future. I don’t really like these skins as much as some other ones, but i would feel cheated if i couldn’t get them.

On a side note, i REALLY love Super Adventure Box, this is my favorite pass time in the game right now! No matter what you do with the skins or the content i am glad it was in the game. Anyways that’s my two cents.

This is where you lost me. When leveling I go into WvW specifically because it can be some of the best xp.

You need to have a commander rolling objectives or AT LEAST get a group doing sentries.

But if you do that the XP is phenomenal so I have no idea where you are getting this opinion from.

Exactly. While the penalty sounds like a satisfyingly brutal “F U” to ALT-F4’rs from Arenanet, this just totally sucks for people that legitimately disconnect.

Sometimes my computer just reboots for no reason, do I get the death penalty? Sometimes the client crashes. Death penalty? Sometimes my cable modem just disconnects. What then?

Playing on HoD – this weekend is the most fun we have had in WvW in about a month. We had a few epic battles tonight specifically. Regardless of the final score, I’m looking forward to the rest of the week.

Haha of course, I just like to build up some rivalry :P

After seeing that jumping is broken and that if I play my elementalist I will lose my traits upon basic skill activation, I decided just to not log in tonight.

Not a few hours ago, I was enjoying an admittedly shabby game and defending it left and right.

Now it seems a new patch has come out that made the game worse.

Personally, my patience is running thin and I feel like all the cool stuff in the game just doesn’t cut it anymore because the myriad bugs just make everything feel broken.

The final story mission is even bugged.

Come on ANet what is this?

Is that it? Game released, proved to have bitten off more than you can chew so now you churn out some incomplete content and call it a day until the New Year?

At this point, you might have well just staved off your investors for one more quarter and did some more beta testing; probably would have earned you more in the long run.

The funny thing is, we used to be horrible. In the early days we had Ehmry Bay often and they destroyed us. Then we got settled in with AR and they dominated us initially too. For a while, the norm was to log into WvW and see where we were losing—because we were always losing.

This pissed everyone off, we had some good commanders together and they started to coordinate and recruit. Then we broke AR’s back and took over our bracket.

Hopefully we can be the same inspiration for SF (does HoD even play?)

Dude the game is what it is. This patch has come and gone and while I agree with a lot of the theory on gear treadmills and gear checks, I see none of the adverse effects rippling through Tyria. Maybe they will and I’ll admit I’m wrong then, but for right now, I’m just not seeing it.

In fact, something strange happens to me when I log in. I go to my characters, do things for them and run some dungeons and do som WvW and I have fun!! I

I know its weird because according the theory the game should be a pile of kitten like D3.

Look, I got freaked out too by the new changes because I thought “It’s D3 all over game, the game seems really fun until you pull back the curtain of Oz and you realize you are just in a massive grind with no content.”

And I waited for the shoe to drop…waited…..waited…. still seems pretty awesome.

Like I said, I will change my tune if kittentarts to suck but right now it doesn’t (for me).

ANet seems pretty set in their ways on a lot of this, I would consider not playing anymore if you really don’t like the game that much.

What do you need agony resistance for?

FotM.

What do you not need agony resistance for; everything else.

No one has to “facegrind” everything. If you are a grinder, you will grind everywhere you can, including FotM and you will be happy. You will want your ring and backpiece ASAP and will grind for them and be happy.

If you are not a grinder, then literally just keep playing as you have been and I guarantee everything will work out just fine. If you are truly this kind of player, then you are just playing for the challenge and shouldn’t really care whether you get your ring this week or the next.

If you’re a troll and you want this game to be Skyrim, LoL, and WoW 2.0 all in one then you are just going to be disappointed.

Game is not perfect, but an instanced grind/challenge hybrid that offers something for everyone and keeps the hardcore grind out of the main world is a pretty decent idea.

Whatever, I’m just pumped that I got my 2nd 80 today and 2g from dungeons. Should I be obsessed instead with grinding ascended rings?

Yes! Something just to facilitate group making since I have to go around spamming anyway.

Doesn’t have to be fancy, just a way to find people who want to do dungeons. Hide their level and class for all I care, but spamming is annoying.

Fractals are awesome and ascended gear is actually not a big deal, sorry

Just want to say, apart from any critiques in favor or against your changes, I really appreciate the feedback. It is really awesome to get that sort of detailed analysis and I hope that the rude players don’t discourage you (it is a gaming forum after all) from continuing to do so in the future.

I’m really enjoying this game. I’m a serious casual / casually serious player and the game is 9/10 for me and I’ll be playing it for a while. Love the attention to detail and feedback like this so PLEASE keep it up! (Don’t blow it like Blizzard).

@ Zerrok: I’m also bilingual, and I can guarantee you that if I were writing in my non-native language that I wouldn’t be spouting off like an kitten. You might have valid points (maybe) but kitten like this:

i would throw it out there that the game was somewhat rushed out.

it’s an epic game but some parts are clearly unfinished.

Sorry I don’t have specific names off the top of my head, but the zones are there.

Story and crafting will get u xp; but just keep pushing ur boundaries out. The “milestone” ur looking for is 30 when u can start doing AC. You should also start looking for a guild or a group.

Around 25 u might be abel to get xp in WvW too.
