Guild Wars 2

Hey gang,

First of all I want to thank everyone that has supported me and shown interest in my play style, builds, and videos. I’m here only to entertain (and maybe even inspire) other’s who see Guild Wars 2 in the same light as I have.

I am leaving the game. It has been a great ride, and I have nothing but respect and love for Guild Wars 2 and everything that they have offered (and that they have in store for the future).

This is my MO as a gamer, I come, I leave a mark (hopefully), then I move on. I’m not sure where my next gaming venture will be (Most likely ESO) but I will be sure to bring my fast reaction play-style and A-game! Arena-Net has developed an amazing platform that I hope reaches far into the future of gaming.

And to my fellow mesmers… My amigo’s. Feel free to expand on, copy, improve on my build’s and take mesmer gaming to levels that I could only dream of. It’s been a great ride guys. I want to thank you all for following me every step of my journey here. To all the people that faced me in duels, to everyone I helped, to everyone I kitten ed off, and to you, the mesmer that just happened to stumble upon this thread many moons from now… Show your enemies how to mesmer. Some group play, and solo, commentary.

I recently upgraded to an FX-8350 @ 4.0ghz (stock) with an HD7850 2gig video card (oc’d to 1050mhz core, 1450mhz memory). I installed an aftermarket cooling solution and have oc’d the FX-8350 to 4.5ghz so I should be getting an even better recording frame rate in the upcoming videos. In this video most of the action is slowed down, and even at a reduced speed the video is quite fluid on the 8350 @ 4.0

The opening encounter is at normal speed and the frame rate is very high, considering the populated area, max GW2 graphic settings (reflections off), and recording software running.

I think running a Greatsword + sword,focus with feedback instead of blink is the best way to rack up kills and mass amount of dropped purses, if you have anything else you use for maximum tags let me know!

Unfortunately, my latest build isn’t made to chase people down. It’s the only glaring weakness of using this setup. There is 0 cc. The people that stay and fight die, the people that run live. A greatsword or main hand sword or focus would all do a better job of getting the fleet of foot.

It is the power/pistol build and gear with a switch to blade training in the dueling traits instead of the pistol trait. I will get something together that breaks down everything.

Yeah, It is one of those things that I’m still on the fence about, sometimes it’s great, other times you want to have null field or feedback or veil, especially if you are doing projectiles through a combo field. I suppose, like everything else, different situations call for different utilities. I’m just toying with it atm. I’m sure I’ll find a new toy next week to play with… :P

I shoot for a 30% crit chance, it seems to work out good for me. Couple that with fury, a 5% increase with accuracy sigil, and of course a 20% phantasmal fury trait, and we are in pretty good shape. I can get my crit damage up to 95% with food and still maintain 3.1k armour with a 19-20k base health. The ascended gear is needed for this, with upgraded infusion slots (all tough).

You know I found that the 3stacks of might on swap for 20s (keeping up 6 stacks of might constantly during battle) to be more beneficial. Not only is it giving me just as much power as 25 stacks of bloodlust, but it’s also boosting my condition damage at the same time.

Yeah man thats a great block and I get what you’re saying. I went 30 into dueling to increase my overall crit chance, pick up the 10% crit damage, and keep a phantasm on a 12 second cooldown instead of 16 with the weapon mastery trait, as well as having an extra 20% chance for phantasms to crit, being able to summon them faster is important for overall dps. I’ll give the other trait line you mentioned a run too, i love switching things around.

Yeah I’m at 3.1k armour and an 87% crit damage. I’ll have to check exactly as I’m not in game, but it’s still bringing people down, and more importantly, keeping me up.

Yeah it sticks out. :P It’s really nice to be back on the field with you guys from XOXO, great group and really talented players. It’s a privileged to consider you all friends (even though we are enemy’s). Andromeda took me under his wing (so to speak) back in the ENVY days. He put some knots on my head and then taught me how to develop my mesmer. We all had a teacher, right?

I always use the master tuning crystals for the condition build, and always use lemon grass poultry soup for the -40% condition duration on myself, regardless of the build.

Are you sure you are using Dueling III (Retaliatory Shield) in your torch build? Seems that is a copy/paste error from the Sword build. I’m guessing you are using I or IV for Torch.

I’ve had a great experience in WvW… From all three servers. I’ve gotten to know a ton of people on the opposing sides since we are locked in our eternal match-up, and I must say, I gained a lot of respect for every person that I’ve come to know on that WvW soil, no matter what the color.

Yup jportell is on the money (as usually). I switch around weapons quite a bit but when scepter and sword are in tow, those traits make a big difference.

Digging the hell out of the torch right now (cd bug aside). That added dps from the blast finisher -always- happening now is intense, not to mention using it for pins is sick too. Aoe blind, then you can pin while in prestige stealth, and that blind stops all knockdowns or stuns… phew!

Dude if u find a good torch skin let me know… i’ve checked them all out and they seem lacking… Maybe it’s time for Rodgort…

Just save that blink or phase retreat to get out of the puddle and be wary of their supply crate elite.

Great build Gaiawolf! This build covers a ton of ground and is really versatile. I love it. I’ll have to check out the life-steal food as I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet. Good stuff man.

I wouldn’t fret too much over the trait lines… just find one that fits you’re play-style, and be certain that it synergizes with what you are trying to accomplish. I would recommend just setting up a trait line, playing with it for 2 or 3 days, then trying something else. Eventually you hit that “sweet spot” for your personal tastes. I love seeing these unique builds and it really makes the game more exciting and enjoyable to play.

With that curtain and sword 3 leap you should be able to handle runners fairly well… If not you can do what Andro told me to do and that was wave at them when they run and go right for their efeelings… it’s op.

I like to keep my ascended gear all P/T/Crit damage, because it offers so much of it, and is the only way to combine said stats on one piece of gear. If I need to add more offense or defense I can do that by modifying armor stats (with much less of a headache)
