Why argueing against someone who is convinced warriors are bad at roaming? He just openly admitted to be quite clueless about the state of the game with that funny piece of literature… Wouldn`t expect any valuable input.

The same goes for you, if im so clueless explain why. The only comment without any valueable input is yours, because you didnt post any evidence whatsoever to support your statement. So your subjective opinion is right, therefore all of my arguments are invalid?

Yes i do think warriors are bad roamers this is my subjective opinion and saying im a bad player because i “admitted” it or that all of my arguments are invalid, is not only ignorant but really really dumb.
I never lost to any other roaming warrior and didnt hear any complaints from any other players about warrior being too good. Berserker warriors melt away like butter and tank warriors hardly do any damage. In my opinion the only viable build that has a chance is condition/heal sword/sword+bow regen warrior that is also a famous build in spvp. Ive managed to kill warriors with my ele, engineer and thief. I dont roam with other classes but also killed warriors occasionally with my guardian and full tank warrior as i was split up from the zerg. All of the warriors may have been coincidentally really bad players i cant tell you because im not jesus.
I know that servers dont say anything about the skill level of the players but i started on seefahrers as the game launched, after half a year i transferred to elona and as the server-change price was reduced before the season i transferred to piken.

Take that as you want to but stop posting exceptional cases, stop undermining comments and stay objective.

I dont think this will ever happen … of course it really sucks to get disconnected/game crashed but its your own fault (change your isp if it happens too often or upgrade/check your pc, i dont know the reasons why you are getting disconnected) . At least you will have the Edge of the Mists in the next patch.

The server would need to save information and distinguish whether you just logged to another character, turned off your game or disconnected (i dont know if alt+f4 tells the server that you turned off your game and resolves the connection properly, but i guess not and this would be the first problem that could be abused). Then a time interval needs to be saved in which you are able to “prioritize requeue” again and your character with which you have been disconnected (of course this would need to be saved although you might even not come back online). And then the queue needs to work as a queue in order to put you at the top, which still would be unfair to the players that waited as long as you did but would have their queue delayed furthermore.

This is unnecessary work for the server for a problem that happens to maybe 5% of the players. And again are self-caused.

You have to break down your problem to a x vs x , otherwise you cant compare and evaluate the situation. It is balanced if you compare it that way.

and of course you should never give up a fight, that doesnt mean you should expect to be able to win all of them. And you can win even 3 on 1 in specific situations (i even won 4 on 1 once with my p/d thief ). But if you take same skill and equally viable builds as a baseline you will be powerless against enemies that are superior in terms if your number. If you want to evaluate a “broken gamemechanic” be objective.

Worst wvw player

First off Warriors are not really good at roaming, but really really good at zerging as the main driving force with good survival, support and a bit of control. Your build and gear is another important factor ( even more important than skill ) you should work on that first.
Zerker warriors are hard to play and if you miss your combos you probably will die, because of the lack of survival.
Full soldier tank warriors are good for zergs, but you wont kill anything with it.
If you want to make it work id suggest you to try out a condition/heal sword/sword + bow build, which is more defensive and forgiving due to the high toughness and heal you got and you will slowly melt your opponents away with your conditions, also the mobility is nice because of your sword.

If you check around the 8 second mark I try to transfer the root with staff 4 to roll out but the root was immediately reapplied giving no opportunity to dodge out of it. I could have used heal to try to get out but I was full health. I would have done that if I had known 20 people were going to roll up behind me, but my crystal ball is in the shop for repairs.

With respect to destroying the roots… have you ever played a condition necro?

Oh, and my demand (lol?) is that they consider undoing the changes made to root.

So they should change a mechanic, because your necro with that build and skill set cant deal with this situation ? btw i love how you quote me, bash on my sidenote and dont elaborate on the important part that states that your problem description and examples are not representative.

The issue with your examples always is: The enemy is superior in numbers + You cant cleanse the conditions off ….
and thats not a problem of the game mechanic if you ask me.

You have to break down your problem to a x vs x , otherwise you cant compare and evaluate the situation. It is balanced if you compare it that way.

If you look at 1 vs 1: The enemy will not be able to keep up the immobilize status on you, because he either wont be able to chain it to last so long or he will be vulnerable to your attacks and has to change his “immobilize” rotation.

If you look at x vs x: The enemy will not be able to keep up the immobilize status on you, because you have x-1 other teammates that can either support you i.e. cure your conditions or heal you or they can pressure the other teammates so they cannot continue to chain their immobilize.

If you look at a x vs 1 situation: Your points are valid. You cant do much to prevent that combo from happening. But this way any other combo that leaves you powerless would be able to be pulled off. Its common sense and perfectly normal that you will be powerless in an outnumbered situation.

And i highly doubt this will be the “new meta” and that you will encounter this problem very often. Its a gimmick build, you cant pull it off alone and its hard countered by condition removal.

I mainly play wvw and roam from time to time … not even once have i encountered this problem neither in massive zergs nor in small scale groups and not even in solo fights… even if i did i would have enough condition removal to counter it.

It was simply forcing almost every engineer into 10 points in Explosives which was really hurting build diversity.

That makes no sense at all … shouldnt then other skills/traits be buffed in such a way that you would want to spend those 10 points in the respective traitline instead of those 10 points in explosives ?! …. instead of that you will be moving an overall good trait that could be an alternative and thus ruining certain builds and decreasing build variety ?!

Somebody explain Anet logic please …

The “reason” is that it’s supposed to be a form of character progression.

It states that you can see the current system as character progression … the problem is it doesnt explain why it is implemented as a character progression instead of an account progression, although the latter makes much more sense.

If there exists a reasonable explanation why they cant make it account bound, they should make it clear and state that reason so all can accept their decision and be happy. As of now you can only imagine that they are greedy and want to sell more wxp boosters, since wxp grinding is already a massive timesink on one character and having the same amount of wxp/ranks on your alt characters doesnt change the flow of the game in wvw (because you already have those advantages on another character which you could use instead).

What are your suggestions/demands here ? That you should survive without condition remove and being outmanned greatly ? Take that scenario to a 1vs1 situation, or get some friends and bring it to an x vs x situation and evaluate then. How can this be a representation of the problem ? You would have the same problem if you have 20 warriors chain stunning you or 20 necros chain fearing you or 20 engis chain knocking you…. etc.

What information are we getting through your posts and videos ? Being superior in numbers in comparison to being alone is overpowered.

Ps: Condition remove and 2 dodges in the opposite direction would have saved you there, and destroying the roots also would have helped.

Yepp, if they stated the reasons and it has been discussed so often… why isnt there a faq about it yet ? It would really help preventing those pointless threads.

After all we are just the customers and provide feedback so both of us can be happy, but being consumer-unfriendly and not open about decisions that impact us greatly in a negative way isnt going to help either side.

If you are in melee range of the bubble and see a red circle matching its outlines, you kinda would be able to tell that the feedback was casted by an enemy. That being said it still wouldnt be enough, because ranged characters dont need to be necessary near the red circle to be affected by it (every other enemy spell needs you to stand inside it, except the guardians reflection wall, which has the same problem), thats why i suggested a team colored feedback bubble or any other indicator to be able to distinguish it from afar.

Yeah, that shows exactly the reason why you are inept to constructive criticism and why you are not able to comprehend the reasoning behind this suggestion. But still argue with facts that don’t matter and dont understand simple concepts. also as you see in my attached screenshot, there is no red circle around the mesmer feedback bubble to indicate that its an enemy spell which you should know as a “pro mesmer that has over 1000 hours played” and you see in my options that i didnt disable “Area of effect rings”,

it’s not so much lore as the driving concept behind the profession, on which the game mechanics are built.

If you ask me Clones are the crucial gamemechanic that fulfills the concept of the mesmer being deceptive.

300hours for my ranger and just hit 1000 for my mesmer […] render the mesmer even more useless in group fights as they already are […] it would be extremely easy to spot a different coloured feedback and waaay too easy to counter […] its main use comes from dealing dmg to pug zergs.

1. Common dont give me that “time played” bullkitten, time played is no indicator for skill nor understanding of gamemechanics. But since you want to go that route.
I have played about ~ 2900 hours of this game
Ele 160, Ranger 100, Necro 80, Warrior 500, Guardian 350, Engi 560, Thief 670, Mesmer 470
And you dont see all the hours on that mesmer because i have almost every class twice for different builds.

2. Mesmers are REALLY powerful group supporters. They have the best utility support for groups and have the best spells against groups.

Veil(mass invisibility for the entire zerg), Nullfield(boon stripping enemies, cleansing friendly conditions), Feedback(mass reflection), (traited) temporal curtain(speed for the entire zerg, reflect), Portal, Timewarp(quickness for many people, giant etheral field) which also can be combined with traits to apply blind and confusion.

3. Yes it would be easy to spot like any other spell in the game. Thats why this thread exists because you should be able to differentiate, so “luck” and “uncertainty” wont be a factor which limits your skills and your tactics.

4. Its main use its not damage, but its a huge factor. What it does it negates an ranged attack and throws back the effects that were directed towards you AND in addition it damages the enemy. Also it wouldnt cease to do damage to enemies cause of the 4 points i explained here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Mesmer-Feedback-Color/first#post3188754. this also applies to this statement of yours

the whole point of of me not wanting to change the colour is that the enemy HAS to fire at it at least once to discover if it is an enemies if they arent smart enough to look at the ground just like nullfield

This argument should be for all enemy AoE and reflects… or none…… giant red wall of reflect anyone?
Either way, I’m way against this…. most aoe gets a red circle….. it’s not hard to see… 1 year of ranger/ guardian play from zerg to roaming, jq to ar, says this should not be an issue.

I didnt, think about the wall of reflection at the time i posted this, but yeah i agree it should get a team color indicator too.

The problem isnt whether its hard to see or not (you can clearly see a frikkin huge bubble and wall) , but rather what team it belongs to. All enemy spells have a giant red circle around them as an indicator. Do you want to know why that suffices ? Because it only affects you if you are in its range, meaning you have to stand inside the enemy spell for it to affect you and when you are in melee range you will clearly see the big red outline.

There is no indication whatsoever if you are standing next to or inside a feedback bubble and especially no indication if you stand in a range of 1200 and your projectiles get reflected in someone elses face. The problem still is you WILL have to attack in order for you to figure out if its a friendly or an enemy bubble.

please elaborate why you are so heavily against it. Since it will improve the quality of the game with a simple change and wouldnt bear any disadvantages to either team, quite the opposite would happen.

Yeah right, like every other spell in this game is completely useless, because its marked as an enemy spell ? I dont think so. Necro wells, Necro Marks, Elementalist aoes, Mesmer Nullfields, Guardian Symbols, etc… are all marked enemy spells. You want to know why they are not useless ? Because their effects work immediately, just like feedback.

a) Players have a reaction time before they even notice that they have to stop, feedback is instantaneous our brains and the servers are not.

b) Projectiles that are already launched cant be stopped and WILL be reflected no matter what, channeled skills that fire projectiles need to be canceled.

c) It can deny certain positions and forces enemy to stop their attacks and move away if they want to continue attacking, since your position in relation to the enemy doesnt matter inside the bubble because everything will be reflected regardless.

d) It protects friendly players inside the bubble and players behind it in a straight line to the enemy, since the projectiles dont fly over the bubble and also affect ranged enemys outside the bubble.

Again, the intention and mechanic of the bubble is not to “trick” you into firing in it. If the enemy ceased his attacks or you reflected an initial burst because of its instantaneous nature, the skill served its purpose.

You are just scared of this suggestion because your main is a “Reflection Tank Mesmer” (you spelled reflection wrong btw in your signature) and dont even know what its used for. Imagine your own zerg/group doesnt even have a mesmer fighting with them and the enemy mesmers use a feedback bubble …. it will be still super effective although your own team didnt get “tricked” by it because they know they dont have a mesmer in the group.

If you are solo-roaming and using your Feedback bubble … do you think the enemy keeps attacking because he thinks “oh there must have come another solo roaming mesmer to my aid, and placed the feedback bubble on me i just should keep on attacking”. Absolutely not, it happens because he already spammed those attacks and didnt realize what he did for a brief moment until he dodges out of the bubble.

Still no, they are not. The only “skills” that are intended to deceive you are CLONES. And i dont know how much more clearer i can explain to you that lore =/= gamemechanics, its such a fundamental, basic and simple concept.

If you really want just the class that is viable for both solo roaming and zerging at the same time with the same build:

That would be Elementalists and Engineers

Since im playing engi as one of my mains. 3 Kits engi (grenade,bomb,elexir gun) with dire/rabid gear mix works really well. Since you will have a really good range and damage with your grenade kit, support with your elexir gun, and bombs for when you rush into melee.

I dont know too much about elementalists, but i think a cantrip build with soldier or soldier/berserker mix should work for both really well. Just need to carry 2 weapon sets, dagger/dagger for roaming and a staff for zerging.

There should also be mix builds for necro and mesmer, but those classes are not as mobile and you will lose some effectiveness from your specific builds.

As for the other classes, i dont think you can find a mix build that would be satisfying for both solo and roaming.

Yeah i do wvw with my full soldier warrior, a tanky build and defensive weapons. If i want to run a round of Cof p1, id rather have my berserker warrior, with his dps build and offensive weapons. If i want to farm some monsters, id rather do it with my berserker warrior. Why ? because its much more efficient and fun, especially if you only need a third of the time to do the tasks that the other character would have needed.

Well then your post is useless either. Because what he implied is that you dont need revive sickness because of the downstate mechanic. Reviving a downed person is really fast. Reviving a dead person takes much more time and requires 5 players, that cant do anything while rezzing, to be effective. If the enemy was downed too often he has to back off for a period of time otherwise he will be dead again.

It also only works if you dont pressure the enemy team …. killing 2 dudes and then retreating doesnt really work in wvw. If you see 5 people rezzing someone, they are focused on one spot and defenseless against aoe.

If you dont have scouts and people with arrowcarts/trebs/catas to defend your tower, its your own fault. If you have manned siege inside your tower in most cases you can either fend off their attack or delay them until the commander/zerg gets there.

I find that hard to believe, most buffs are always given right before an engage or right before they are needed. You cant have perma buffs on the entire zerg, thats nearly impossible, unless the entire zerg is dedicated to only buffing and not fighting.

Please make a video to prove it otherwise dont use exaggerations to state your point, that cant be fulfilled and are not even nearly true.

There was a post from Mr. Carver a while back saying the topic of account bound WxP was closed […] I doubt very much that it was his decision and I don’t blame him for it at all.

This was his statement and id still blame him, since he is the frickin LEAD DESIGNER OF WVW, he is the one who knocks.

The addition of those rare and small liquid wxp flasks is a joke and the overall increase of wxp didnt change much either. It would have been noticable if you were running a 24/7 karma train but thats not whats happening. It still feels like a big punishment and the statement still doesnt explain WHY we wont get account bound wxp. It really goes against any common sense of this game, to not make it account bound.

But hey an explanation would be too much to ask i guess.

Maybe they want to sell more wxp boosters … which i wont buy because a really minor boost on a short time limit for one character doesnt sound appealing. On the opposite what it does sound like is that anet is community-unfriendly and greedy.

You would even be able to craft every legendary in the game before maxing out 2 of your characters. This skin bullkitten, the lack of hard content, the absence of gear grind, overall accountbound stuff, the massive amount of micro transactions, etc.. everything is directed at casual gamers. But hey lets make WvW the most grindiest kitten ever.

Lets say you play 3 times a week for 3 hours wvw. 3 hours will give you about 1,5 WvW Rankups on average ( Scouting, solo-roaming, dolyak pushing, failed zergfights will even result in less ) . That plus random liquid wxp drops will result in about 250 Rankups in one year.

The most common abilities people running in a zerg put their points into are like:
30 points in ram mastery
10 points in supply mastery
1 point in repair mastery
1 point in build mastery
115 points in defense against guards
115 points in guard killer

That would be 272 points and you couldnt even afford that after one year of playing, which is okay because you didnt invest so much time as others did. But all that time you played would be for NOTHING if you wanted to get some diversity going so the game wasnt so boring playing the same character over and over again. Yeah you could grind yourself up another year with a different character and not even have the basic set of abilities zerg players use…. but i dont think this would be fun to anyone.

This is a really terrible suggestion… not only it has nothing to do with wvw but also it would encourage people to fool around.

I agree duels are pretty fun, but are you out of your mind to suggest it in wvw ?

Id rather have designated areas in a town to duel a friend or being able to duel in any pve map, which would make alot more sense.

I rather think he meant that you should run with the commander / the people that are capturing the keep/tower/etc. instead of zerging somewhere alone or chasing people.

If you keep focused and dont run through every kitten in a straight line this shouldnt be a problem. If the entire zerg got through there shouldnt be a reason for you to fall behind too much. And 3 seconds for killing the lord and capturing is an exaggeration.

Also if you attacked the walls or the gate sufficiently you will get the same reward for taking that place.

I would like to hear ONE good reason what speaks against account bound wxp. “Its the characters progression” is not a good reason, since they are making everything else accountbound and it should be “your” progression not the progression of one character, as everything else represents “your” progression.

Why are people against it ? What harm would be done ? There is nothing that would put you in a disadvantageous position. Even if it is character progression and you use only one character, it wouldnt change your gameplay at all. It would only save you time for the things you already worked for if you decide to make another character.

People that already have earned the advantage they have on a different character should have that same advantage on another character. You didnt change, your skill didnt change, the time you invest didnt change, your level of contribution didnt change. The only thing that happens it puts people that use alts at a disadvantage, since you cant use the advantage you worked for.

I would like to have an option to turn off Dead Enemy Player Names. Often the enemy players are invisible to me, since my pc isnt so good and i will have to live with culling. Thats why i need my enemy player names turned on. But the problem im having all the time is to distinguish between dead and living enemies. All i see are red nameplates but no indication whether they are alive/downed or dead. That often leads to spamming my attacks into nothing which is really annoying.

Any plans for account wide WXP?

its is the same with individual process with the skill points. they are not account wide

If WvW Ranks were as obtainable as skill points this problem wouldnt exist

You need much more Rank ups to unlock a mastery than skillpoints to unlock one skill.

And to gain one Rank up it is much much much more time consuming than gaining one skill point.

In addition to that there are often account bound skillpoints in champion lootbags whereas account bound rankups dont exist. There is liquid wxp which is a tiny fraction of a rankup and is much less frequent than a skillpoint in a champion lootbag.

These two arent even remotely comparable.

Your WXP shows your expertise with that particular class.

No it doesnt. It shows your overall contribution and time invested into WvW / your server.

The gain of World Xp is NOT in any way, shape or form class specific. The masteries and skills you gain are NOT in any way, shape or form class specific.

Thats the biggest bullkitten ive heard so far ….

mesmer lore =/= mesmer gamemechanics

Please explain to me why my character is able to distinguish every other enemy spell from friendly spells, including other mesmer spells like nullfield by the red outline(which clearly should “trick me” because mesmers, right ?! ).

And i don’t think it would be a mesmers intention to trick his own entire team, leading them to cease attacks in order not to hurt their own team. Furthermore if you want to give me that logical lore bullkitten how does a purple reflection bubble differentiate between friend or foe ? How are friendly characters immune to the effects and how does a spell know which person to hurt or not to buff?

The gamemechanics are based on functionality not on lore and realism.

Im not sure but i think Time Warp doesnt have an indication either, which would be helpful to know since it buffs people with quickness and generates an etheral combofield.

You know what an “option” is ? If they decided that they need auto loot on, its their own fault. Did you even think about what you have written ?

Wxp should be as it is, toon specific simply because it reflects one toon’s progression in a certain environment, such as WvW.

To make it fair then i want Characterbound Spvp ranks, Gold, Blueprints, Badges, Dungeon tokens, laurels, Achievement points (pfff why should your toon get credit for something your other characters did ?) , friendlists (i mean every character is another individual right ?)….

I mean why should my 14 lvl 80 characters share the same progression … i maybe the same person that plays this game and contributes to wvw, but my characters ? what did they do to contribute ? nothing if you ask me…. they should work for it !

I mean i got about 200 WvW Rank-ups in about 6 months, shouldnt be too hard to max all of them out right ?!

Maybe someday you’ll understand what a bunch of bullkitten this is. Characterbound wxp would only be acceptable, if it didnt take so long to max out one character or if you only were able to create one character.

I don’t see how this topic is wvw related, but they already stated that they will NOT implement this feature. As you said and as arenanet explained, almost everyone uses teamspeak / mumble / etc… on their own and it would be pointless and time consuming to implement it into guild wars.

And im happy its this way.

Evidence to support his claim

You should check your definition of Evidence.

First of he doesn’t show THAT it works, but only explains how it works.

Second point is that it is clearly a bug (if it works) and no feature of the queue.

In addition to that its probably not even group related but rather the fact that the first of the queue from that zone moved to a different place, thus moving the new guys that joined the zone and queued, up to the top of the queue. Since they are in a group and teamspeak/mumble they can coordinate and time the relogging and queuing, which makes it seem group related.

And pretty much this tricky bullkitten you have to pull off makes it clear that it doesnt favour groups. In order to say it favours groups it should also work when people group up and queue up at random, but still get the invite to the borderland in a small timeframe

Its also because groups get priority over individuals.

I dont think you have any evidence to support this claim ? My queue-time is usually about 30% smaller while im not in a group, which would contradict your statement

although i would like to have an advantage for players with a higher wvw rank in the queue ( higher rank => you play and contribute more to wvw ) i agree there should be no priority

That would be without a doubt staff / well necro with dire gear.
You can soak up much damage since you will will have about 30k life and 2700 armor and still have a really good damage output.
Staff => 5 aoe skills with big radius and good reach
Wells with life siphon => every well tags, has good support / debuffs, heals you
Death Shroud => 2 aoe skills and is basically a second life bar
Plaque Form => turns you into a super tank doubles your life for a time and has aoe dmg around you

I dont really like playing necros …. but if i let him out in wvw my bags getting filled like crazy

But if you’re talking about the absolute best, the apex of tagging. The only answer is Grenadier Engineer. Any other answer is stupid.

This is simply not true, i have a grenade engi as one of my main wvw characters ….Its true that grenade spam + bomb kit will tag most of the players and guarantee much loot, but you dont have the survivability like a necro (surviving longer thus tagging more enemies results in more loot ), the grenades have a delay before they land and do damage and also the radius is smaller.

Are the Edge of the Mists Optional ?

I would like to know if you queue for a borderland whether you are forced into the Edge of the Mists or you have the choice to join it.

Surely the Mists are a great feature, but if you have to join it there definitely will be afk players sitting around, decreasing the strength of that realm.

The flaw i see in your argument is …. people cant do this alone ! You need several people to “perma immobilize” ONE enemy.
If you run around in an equal sized team you either have the options that

a) your team puts pressure on them, so they cant keep stacking the debuff / killing you
b) your team supports you, heals you, cures your conditions

They have to specificly build their gear / buffs / traits for this to work, thus giving up other abilities that could help them.

Its a gimmick setup

Im pretty sure we all can agree that this “Queue” doesn’t really behave like a real queue, but that’s probably some built in algorithm that they cant change that easily. But what bothers me is that there is no indication or estimate when i will be able to join wvw. Sometimes i wait for 3 hours sometimes i can join instantly.

This doesn’t even have to be my exact position in the queue or the time i will need to let me into wvw, but a notification in which block of players i am in the queue and a time estimate based on the rate of people that were let into wvw. So i can go afk or do something else not just sit there and wait.

For example:
Position in queue of players: 100-150
Time Estimate: 45 Minutes ( based on 130 players entering WvW in the last 60 minutes)

I am aware that there will be the so called “WvW Overflow” introduced so the players don’t have to wait in the PvE world anymore, but that doesn’t really fix the problem of not knowing when you will be able to join your desired Borderlands and play for your server.

The Mesmer skill “Feedback” needs to be team color coded …

There is no way to distinguish friendly vs hostile feedbacks, so you inevitably hurt your own team and probably don’t even notice it because some poor other guy gets the reflected stuff in his face.

That Pink bubble may look pretty, but its not practical in wvw

Looked at those links …. still there are no pictures or videos that could indicate that the problem might even be considered true or possible …. quite on the opposite if you look at Gw2 Millenium and look at the point distribution … the GREEN servers are either winning or on par with the other loosing server. If your claims would be true that only half of your players are able to get in on those borderlands, there would be a noticable difference in the point distribution.

Well good luck to you… but im one of the people that are kitten ed because of that “polish”. Everything was doable without that polish it was hard and we got rewarded a unique skin…. now that they patched it its really really easy compared to before and many more people will have access to those skins -.-"

I respawn … land in spikes … and die. What a great checkpoint ! Fix it !

You only die when you get ported / have a loading screen and land in the spikes instead of spawning standing there, but still that are unnecessary deaths you cant do anything about !
