Its a relatively minor issue so ppl tend to let it be. But why is that join/enter match pop up so incredibly intrusive? Why is it that if you click wait, it pops up again 2 seconds later? Its really annoying since its right on top of your character aswell. And if youre in the middle of a duel (that you can easily finish before the match starts) youre basicly forced to click wait every 2 seconds.

Wouldnt it be better to create a nice enter now popup icon that moves to the right side of your screen after you clicked wait once. Maybe add a nice little timer under it showing the time untill the match starts.

And ooh ye, add a sound to the initial pop up so ppl can hear when it pops in case they’re afk for a second.

crit immunity – it’s funny if it’s against thief.

Question is, which trait has higher priority.
Thief 100% crit chance while in stealth, or elementalist’s u can’t crit me.

Pretty sure the moment you land that guaranteed crit on an uncritable Ele the servers will crash and you may possibly even undo existence.

Pistol Whip and immobilize

My Pistol Whip gets cancelled every time I get immobilized:

When I use PW, I try to hit the stun and then turn into position for the damage part to hit. Normally the second part of PW would hit while pressing any movement key. And it will cancel when you are trying to walk away while using PW.

Now the game thinks I’m trying to get away while I’m actually just trying to walking into position. Which is pretty annoying, especially when the screen is full of skill effects and you have no idea why you died so quickly.

A fix would be, to let the game think you are still walking while immobilized. And not (trying to walk, trying to walk, trying to walk). As this is what ends PW I think.

Anyone else noticed this issue?

A real guild war: My WvW dream

Eliminate sever vs. server

The server system in WvW is completely removed. You now enter WvW with your guild where you are placed into a WvW instance that draws from the entire game population. All players not in your guild are hostile to you. All structures on the map are fair game. Matches have no beginning or end. You fight forever and hold your guild’s structures as long as you can.

Queues no longer exist as an infinite number of instances can be created to match demand. Coverage no longer matters. Map blobs no longer exist.

No more points

The point tick is removed and replaced with a new guild currency. When your guild captures a structure, you earn this new currency over time as long as you hold it. Keeps award the most per tick, then towers, then camps, then sentries. Even the smallest guilds have a structure they can take and hold. The currency is used to purchase WvW exclusive cosmetic upgrades like unique guild armor, banners that are carried in combat, cosmetic upgrades to structures your guild has claimed. In addition you also earn influence for your guild which can be used for all existing guild upgrades.

Now you fight for your guild. You enter WvW, capture what you can and hold it as long as you can. Fights now have purpose and defending is now important. Rivalries will be created and top guilds will be de-throned by their enemies. When your guild sleeps, you will probably lose what you took, but that isn’t the point. It is about your guild achieving something while they are active, and having fun doing it.

Supply camps and escorting supply are now vital. Your large guild can’t hold its keep without getting in precious supply. Smaller guilds may be claiming the camps and you will have to fight them for the supply, or perhaps bribe them into letting you take the camp in exchange for helping them take a tower. Politics is now a very real aspect to WvW.

A new global ladder will rank guilds based on total accumulated guild currency. Rank up your guild, compare it to others, and choose your targets to de-throne.

The zerg is dead

It is as simple as that. Entire servers in one blob is gone forever. Sure, there would inevitably be massive guilds that run in a huge group, but they would still be far outnumbered by the map population as a whole. These mega guilds are also large targets for smaller guilds to gang up on. Rivalries will be created. Guilds will seek revenge on the guilds who took their structure. Small guilds will gang up on the big ones, and on each other. It is you and your friends vs. the world. Every structure on the map is yours to take, no more fighting over the same 1/3 of a borderland.

No more terrible match-ups

There are no more match-ups. You fight other guilds from the global game population. Every day you face a new set of opponents. Some will beat you, some you will beat. Some will have more people than you, and some wont.

What about the solo player?

Solo players will have a strong incentive to join a guild, but if you want to roam solo there is a place for you too. Players can join WvW as un-guilded bandits. Bandits can take structures just like guilds, but they do not earn the guild currency for doing so. If you want to roam solo, join as a bandit and go kill people, take camps, camp spawn points. You will not earn guild currency but you can have just as much fun harassing guilds and other bandits. The bandits can also work together to assault large structures just for the satisfaction of taking it from another guild.

Putting it all together

WvW is now about fighting for the glory of your guild, destroying rivals, and defending your claims to the last man. Defending structures in now the most important thing. Guild upgrades and claiming are now essential. Rivalries and revenge will motivate fights. You will learn your enemies and the inter-guild community will be strengthened.

The worst aspects of the current WvW system are removed. No more queues, no more zergs, no more pointless points, no more server imbalance, no more coverage wars.

New WvW exclusive rewards via guild currency allow you to show off your guild’s accomplishments both in WvW and in the PvE world. The new global ladder allows you to track your rank among the best best WvW guilds in the game.

This is my dream

This is my dream for a newly re-imagined WvW. I believe it would be a lot of fun and solves many of the current problems with WvW without requiring that drastic of an overhaul. Some of you will hate it and I suspect some will like it.

It will never happen. I would love it if it did. If even a small part of this idea were implemented I believe it would be a great step forward for WvW.

Dear Anet;

Our owner is asleep right now, but none of us here in the [K]ennel can sleep tonight, so we broke open some [Abyss dye] we found in our Master’s bag, and found a stack of 14 “Giver’s Darksteel Imbued Inscriptions”…we didn’t think he’d miss just one.

Over the last couple of months our Master has been growing into quite the hero! Together, with us faithfully by his side, we’ve seen the world, slain the mighty Zhaitan, and even got into a few tussels with some rival servers and players! It seems like so long ago we were just ordinary juvenile beasts, roaming the countryside…before our dear Master chose us…over all our siblings just a few yards away in either direction. We never dreamed that after the effort and time he took training us, and naming us, and relying on us…that our bond would fade.

Lately, our Master hasn’t been very satisfied with our performance…he always seems upset, and he never wants us to protect him anymore! We try to tell him. “Let me at ’em! Imma tear them apart!” but he says “Not now, why don’t you be a good pet and [Avoid Combat] for now…this fight requires careful positioning…and I can’t have you accidentally getting the attention of that mobile patrol over yonder!” We try to let him know we won’t mess up like we did all those other times…but…we still do. I guess learning from our mistakes isn’t something us beasts were designed to do.

He keeps talking to his hero friends, and we can hear him muttering about us being “Ignored by the developers”, and “Poor Pet Ai makes them mediocre”, and even “I wish I could just not have a pet in exchange for higher damage on my bow”. It’s not Mr. Brown Bear’s fault that he stood in lava till he died last week! It’s not Mrs. Jaguar’s fault that even though she can go invisible…and shes one of the most agile and nimble creatures known to man…that she can’t dodge/roll away from an aoe attack.

All we want to do here in the [K]ennel is see our Master happy again…happy to see us…and not complain that they can’t stow us more permanently. We feel that writing to you ANet is the only way to improve ourselves…so that Agony doesn’t instantly kill us anymore…When our Master wants us to use our special moves he should only have to ask [F2] once. Please help us! Even some of our Master’s hero friends made comments, that he doesn’t bring enough utility to the party…and we can’t stand to see him looking so dejected and depressed. We see our Master less and less these days….and we wondered…if there was a way for us to be better companions…maybe he’d like us more…and spend more time with us….and not forget our names everytime he put us in the [K]ennel for awhile.

New WvW blueprint: Barricade

If something like my idea has been suggested before, I apologize. I searched for “blueprint” in the Suggestion and WvW Discussion sub-forums and found nothing. Also, I debated whether to post this here in WvW Discussion or under Suggestions. But i figured anyone reading here is a WvW player and they are more likely to post positive or negative feedback.

Its a blueprint that makes a small, “hedge-like” wall, almost anywhere you want. Barricade has the same health as a Flame Ram and takes 40 supply to build. The wall has the same dimensions (length and width) as a Guardian’s Sta kitten ability, Line of Warding and works the same. All teammates and allied NPC’s can pass through the wall freely, enemy NPC’s and Invaders cannot. While the Barricade blocks movement, you can still fire ranged weapons and targetable skills past the Barricade as it does not block you view. Enemies walking into the Barricade do not get knocked back as if they walked into Line of Warding.

Like any siege, each wall takes up 1 of your empire’s siege cap and must be “tagged” once an hour or it disappears. Barricades can be used to block off choke points, such as entrances to certain Supply camps. Lay them back to back for a layed defense. Or end to end for a perimeter around siege out in the open.

Barricade CANNOT be built:

  • anywhere where other siege cannot be built (such as underwater)
  • on top of Tower or Castle walls or the staircases leading up to the walls. (You can build them on staris infront of Keep Gates as long as they aren’t too close to the gates)
  • anywhere within 1200 radius of a bridge (because on certain maps, empires can be walled in/out of their keeps)
  • anywhere within 1200 radius of a “Lord”
  • anywhere within 2400 radius of a Tower or Castle “Gate”
  • anywhere inside the Inner Wall of SMC (but you can build them between the Inner and Outer SMC walls, as long as they are not within 2400 radius of a “Gate”)

Superior Barricade: 50 supply to build, more health and slightly longer.

Join games that have an even numbers of players in them, not odd. Higher chance of a competitive game (which you’ll ruin by joining, though hopefully someone else follows after you heh).

I aim for the ones that are 14/16.

Plenty of space in a lower tier. This isn’t an issue that needs to be addressed. You want Tier 1 pop, you get Tier 1 queues. You want Tier 6 queues, You get Tier 6 pop. You don’t get both.

i don’t see why that should be the case when they can copy and paste the maps again. 3/4 are already copied and pasted.

Maybe because the lower population servers would get deserted maps? Blame the big bandwagons for long queues while some servers get outmanned in 3/4 maps 24/7.

Precisely this IMHO.

Simply adding more maps defeats the purpose of having map pops doesn’t it? Perhaps I am wrong, but I was under the impression that 150/map was so you couldn’t have 300 people around on a map where the other servers in the tier couldn’t even field 100/map. In tier 6 there is only a queue on 1-2 maps for a few hours right after reset. And to my knowledge, Tier 4 is where you start to have 24 hour presence, but still don’t have queues outside of prime time and not on all maps. (correct me if I’m wrong here.)

Adding more maps seems like avoiding the problem: Your tier is overcrowded. That’s what the free server transfers were supposed to be for, but instead everyone used them to bandwagon and move to higher servers instead of transferring off of crowded ones. Perhaps if they allowed free xfers to lower pop servers, or released some census data on the pops of each server, better decisions could be made, but making a HUGE blanket change to WvW will end up killing the WvW experience for any tier below 3. Maps will become deserted and night capping will have a more dramatic effect, not to mention on the lower tiers it will be so desolate it would cease to be PvP, and become entirely PvDoor on everything but EB.

If you want to change queue times, the best way in my opinion is to ask Anet to pull some data together on the current server pops, and allow a specific amount of free server transfers to lower pop servers. Either that, or guest on some lower pop servers and shell out the gems for it yourself.
