Good for you. Moving on up in the world. You have the patience of a saint for having to deal with these forums for months.
Anyways, good luck.
Didn’t look like Scarlet explained anything there either.
Yeah, I like the current one better than that one, and wouldn’t of liked them killing off Jory. I think it’s also more interesting not mentioning Mord in the bar convo directly like that and being a little more secretive.
I have a quick tip. When we create Feedback threads, put your feedback in them. Too many folks come to General Discussion and start new threads, without checking to see if there is an on-going discussion.
Our team has been merging and closing/redirecting quite a bit this week, and is immensely helpful for you getting heard, when we can look in one main thread for very specific feedback and questions.
Fluffball has the right of it, too, in regards to /how/ you post. I’ve compiled a lot of feedback which is constructive and critical. If it is LOL THIS SUCKS I HATE YOU #yolo #swag, you’re pretty much shooting yourself in the foot.
Mark, Allie, and I spent a huge amount of time compiling feedback and sharing it with the Dev Teams, and in turn, the Dev Teams lurk and compile their own feedback. Keeping things concise, respectful, and constructive is the key.
Here’s a handy guide on how we like to see feedback. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/How-to-Give-Good-Feedback
And for Pete’s sake…very clear thread titles is a must.
(edited by CC Danicia.1394)
Feedback such as “fire this person” or “get better at writing” are not helpful or useful to us. If you wish to provide constructive criticism and feedback, I strongly recommend reading this thread which details how to give good, constructive feedback that is useful both to the development teams and in discussions here on the forums.
Biased Survey. The people enjoying the game are playing the game, not posting on an unknown “board”. Mind posting a link?
Also, these changes will come in due time if the dev team sees fit to add them. If not? Find a different game that caters to your liking.
I dispute the stinky warriors thing!
My female warrior got the new set of runes, one each of ‘Rune of Athlete’s Foot Resistance’, ‘Rune of Brazilian Wax’, ‘Rune of Minty Mouthwash’, ‘Rune of Moisturing Cream’, ‘Rune of Manicure’ and ‘Rune of Smiting Any Man Who Leaves The Toilet Seat Up’.
Highly recommended!
LOL! I want to +1 this whole thread.

9/10.
I don’t understand your complaints, people.
Jus’ sayin it kinda ruined the experience for me…
What you mean how nearly every show, movie, video game, book, play, sport, ect. has done for women and girls all these years? I don’t agree with you at all, but I get where you’re coming from and why you’re frustrated. You know, considering this is kind of what I have to deal with on a daily basis with nearly every franchise.
It’s not your fault that the gaming industry has catered to you your whole life, but eventually you need to realize that it DOES cater to you. You are the target demographic. Typically many (not ALL) men don’t even notice when the scales are tipped in their favor because that’s how it’s always been. That’s what’s normal, and now that you’re presented with something that isn’t “normal” it’s strange, it’s frustrating, and you have a hard time relating to the cast.
I get that. But I don’t feel bad for you. I really don’t.
We finally get a story where women get to save the day, without needing to do it for the love of a man, with the help of a man, because a man told them. Where they don’t get to be props in their own story, where they don’t get killed to fuel a man’s story and a man is the bumbling “damsel” in distress. We get a story a woman is a super villain that builds an army, takes over a major city, tries (and succeeds) to wake a dragon and will probably end up indirectly destroying the world.
We finally got that. It might not have been perfect, but we got it and I love it. And you don’t like it because there are too many girls and it’s apparently impossible for you to relate with one. Well I’ll tell you the same thing women get told every time they bring up this same discussion about male dominated games: Deal with it. Get over it. There’s nothing you can do about it. Don’t like it, don’t play it. It makes sense in the lore. Why does it matter? No one’s making you play the game. Life isn’t fair. Stop playing games and get back in the kitchen.
Well said!
I see Kas and Jory as propaganda/comercial story because various reasons (as I said on the fist post it is just a feeling, I don’t claim to know what is on the devs mind):
1 – It is not the first gay relationship, it is like the third or more.
Why, it’s almost like the writers consider same-sex relationships to be normal. Those monsters!
I have seen more gay romances than straight romances in the game.
If you ignore the gazillion other heterosexual relationships in the game.
There is even a whole species of neuter beigns where heterosexual relations have no difference from homosexual relations.
Gender neutral beings! What an abomination.
2 – It is the most important romance in the game. Imagine if they are a girl’s idols, what does she see? Lesbian idols.
Surely the downfall of modern society. Next thing you know, girls will see this and… and… ehhh… remind me again, what would they do exactly?
Final notes: When I found about sylvaris and the gay relation of Caithe/Faolain or the two in the personal story I thought it was cool to be inclusive and give gay people a place in Tyria.
Technically those two are not gay. They are Sylvari.
Can’t talk about Braham, you will have to realize for yourself.
Braham has a secret agenda! I knew it! Never trust a Norn!
Well, now you know how we females feel with just about any other game or movie which has a predominant male cast. This is refreshing for once.
I was talking with my dad about this phenomena the other day, but as it related to the Star Trek comic and how wonderfully strange it was to me to see the Enterprise with all girls and one guy instead of all guys and one girl. I couldn’t believe how weird it felt to see that, when a crew with all men was something I didn’t bat an eye at. Perhaps that’s what’s going on here. We’ve seen the opposite for so long that a female-driven cast is suddenly ~unbalanced~, where a male-driven cast is considered default.
I like that this game is aiming to give meaty arcs to traditionally under-represented portions of the real world population. And I definitely don’t think that male characters having flaws is somehow an insult to them. Rather, I think that their season 1 intros are a wonderful set-up to give them a character arc for season 2 that’s actually compelling and emotionally involving. Will Rox’s search for acceptance into a new warband (vs the “family she chose” in Braham and co) inspire Braham to try to repair the relationship he has with his mom? Does Canach mean what he says about repenting or is it just a slippery way to shrug off suspicion and fade into the background for more covertish shenanigans? Magnus is going to have to do something about his kittenty Captain’s Council and Evon’s set up to be some prime opposition to that goal, as well as influencing Heal-O-Tron in a probably negative way. If these men weren’t somehow flawed, if the women were just Strong Female Characters, I would care so much less about all of them.
I’m just excited to see how everyone’s semi-conflicting ideas end up clashing or merging through Season 2.
eta: And I’m amused at people who think that Kasmeer hasn’t had people calling her a vacuous airhead, or Marjory a terrible detective, or Kiel a useless paladin. Everyone sees these characters differently, I guess. I don’t see how Canach, Evon or Braham are idiots or fools. One is a crafty businessman, one is/was a crafty and caring anarchist, and one is brave warrior who stood basically alone to defend his home against terrible odds.

Overall, yes lore is very, very important to me
Me too, Gwylen. And thanks for all the kind words.

With Jory NOT dying and if LA gets rebuilt, you’re essentially saying that the threat of the entire last year has had 0 consequence. You’re teaching people to not care about the living story. You HAVE to be brave enough to make significant changes everything can’t keep ending up all fine and dandy ><
I disagree. The Personal Story already had tons of characters dying just for the sake of the plot. I’m glad they didn’t do that this time. I’m glad they didn’t kill off the romance that they’ve been building up all this time. That would have been cheap.
As for Lion’s Arch, even if it gets rebuilt (and I hope it does), it will never look the same. I’m sure of that.
I honestly couldn’t care WHO is in the spotlight as it:
1) Doesn’t affect me personally in any way
2) They’re here to tell a story, not push an agenda
It’s funny how people get offended and scream for “equality” whenever a minority gets a spotlight once in a century.
It’s a relationship between 2 people. Should it matter whatever the sexes of the 2 are? Claiming to not be homophobic when making a homophobic point does not absolve the OP from being homophobic.
Race used to matter to people when it comes to relationships. Do you think it’s acceptable to question the race of 2 people in a relationship today?

Looking back now at the complete Living Story so far i think ArenaNet did pretty well.
The Living World started a bit shaky and didn’t make much sense until the last few patches.
But now with the whole story beeing complete i like it VERY much and i’m very excited to see how they will add new stuff in the future.
I’m still thinking living world CAN’T replace traditional Add-Ons but for me the last few patches were very entertaining.
Thank you ArenaNet for this great game

Seriously! I’m still picking my jaw up off the floor.
This has got to be the best LW update yet.. and I’m not just saying that because we all finally got to shut Scarlet up for good! The entire boss fight was perfect!! And the cutscene with Marjory and Kasmeer was beautiful (a couple tears rolled when they finally embraced each other, I’ll admit!) XD
I know not everyone will be as satisfied as I am with this conclusion, but I just wanted to post a positive thread recognizing the devs’ hard work The entire presentation of this update was just magnificent. AND THE LOOT! By the gods, I’ve never seen so many valuable things in my bags!
(and those Tormented weapons from Nightfall unffff…. Crystal Desert soon?? ;D )
Greetings all!
If you could be so kind, when talking about this release, please use spoiler tags for your titles and within your posts, so as not to spoil the content or the ending for anyone. We would greatly appreciate it!
Also, if you find bugs, please submit them to the Game Bugs forum.
Thank you!
As a female gamer, I’ve found myself relating just about equally to male and female characters in any game. A good, strong character is a good, strong character regardless of gender.
What’s wrong with gender X same gender pairings?
We’re not necessarily saying we’re finding wrong with it.
It just doesn’t make sense that the one sex that most gamers can relate with (males) are practically non-existent in recent living story. So much so that the there aren’t enough of them to go around for the female characters to be straight even if they wanted to.
In other words:
Its not female gamers don’t matter.
Its that male gamers still do.
If you’re unable to relate to a female character, that says a lot about YOU, not about arenanet. Females aren’t a different species, they are People Like all people, they have unique motivations, personalities, strengths, and weaknesses. The fact that you have a ding-dong and the character doesn’t shouldn’t prevent you from relating to that character as another human.

A quick sketch I made before the game was released, I didn’t know Caithe was a thief..soo..staff..yeah, lmao.
Come one, come all, post your fanart of Tyria’s most popular band of heroes Destinys Edge~! I’ll go first.
There were story and character moments for planned instances that, unfortunately, got cut.
Like these?:

CHAUNCEY! CHAUNCEY!
So that Logan gag was something we came up with during some downtime in the VO booth. I wanted us to put an Easter egg in the game where once a day he’d leave his office in DR and patrol the city just being a jerk to people as a kind of anger therapy since his job as Captain of the Seraph is so stressful. The commandeering of the lollipop was one such scenario.
There are other scenes that go with that one, but they’re outside our ESRB rating, unfortunately.
The Fancy Cat Competition stuff is one of many bits that didn’t get used. The performances from Yuri Lowenthal, Kirk Thornton, Kari Wahlgren, Sam Riegel were spot on. Maybe we’ll get to it one day….
Konig!
The interest in “why” and “when” that happened has caught me by surprise. One of the things I’ve learned over the past year is that GW2 fans take an interest in every little detail. And I love that. It means you’re invested and you care—as much as we at ArenaNet do.
Speaking for myself, I not only have to remember the details of the lore from the past (three novels, two games, and almost 9 years worth of added content), but I also have to continue creating lore for future story, make story sense of the gameplay differences between the two games, write dialogue to character voice, script content, maintain style, and do a zillion other things. That adds up to a lot of lore road that I’ve traveled. All I can say is thank goodness for wikis. No single human being could keep all that in their head.
So, I’m not perfect. And yes, from time to time, you will find me or someone else on the team making a mistake.
If we get too afraid to make mistakes in front of you, then we stop saying anything at all, and you get either silence or non-committal mush from us. So, I stick my neck out every time I give a lore talk live or answer an interview without my reference material at hand. It’s a risk I take in order to, hopefully, give you all some answers to your questions. And it’s one of the scariest things I’ve ever done in my life.
And, I’m gonna get it wrong sometimes. I’ll beg a bit of forgiveness in advance.
Besides, if the worst I do is get mixed up who was the first Scarlet contacted: Flame Legion or Dredge, then I’m doing better than I thought I was.
I do appreciate that you have my back so that when I say the wrong thing, you set the record straight for folks.
Given that, here’s the true, secret reason the Flame Legion agreed to work with Scarlet. Scarlet duped them. She lied and said that she already had the dredge signed up. She did the same to the dredge, saying she already had the Flame Legion signed on. In this way, she promised them each whatever the other could give, even though she didn’t already have it. They both believed her. Until, of course, they got together and started talking. They learned then that she was a silver-tongued, snake-nosed trickster. By then, however, they WERE both invested, so it would have been foolish to back out just because they’d been duped into working together. By then, they were experiencing the benefits of the alliance.
Wishing you a very happy New Year, my fellow GW2 Lorehound!!
And so glad you all enjoyed the livestream!
I’ll tell you a little secret about the krait, that’s perhaps not so secret, but that may help you understand how and why they’ve changed since GW1. The krait once believed themselves to be the top of the food chain.
But, in these intervening years, they’ve been attacked, driven from their deeps, scattered into smaller groups, and forced to move into more shallow waters. The rise of the dragons gave them a little taste of humble pie. (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Unending_Ocean)
This group of krait are hungry to regain their previous level of power and confidence, and they believe that the one way they can do it is via their prophets. And Scarlet offered them a chance to take back what they’ve lost.
As the wiki says, “Krait doctrine fortells the return of the obelisks’ prophets, bringing with them massive armies to flood the surface of the world and destroy other species.” (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Krait)
They may have wished they could do it a different way, but this particular group of krait agreed to Scarlet’s offer of obelisk shards and the chance to “grow” a prophet.
Hmmm…. something looks suspicious here.
Thank you for making a healthy, happy, functioning, and non-obsessive lesbian relationship. Caithe/Faolain is most certainly none of those things, and I find people trying to draw any parallel between the two couples to be very foolish.
I enjoy Kasmeer and Marjory, both for their own selves and for their fun and cute interactions together. It doesn’t feel “forced” at all. On the contrary, their relationship and care for each other seems very natural and well-written – much better written than a lot of the stuff in this game, I have to add, which is doubtless one big reason why they’ve become so popular.
That’s all I wanted to say. There’s a lot of negativity and needless, endless circular debates about the motives of the writers, and I simply wanted to counterbalance that with some appreciative words. These characters and their relationship have increased my enjoyment of the game. Thank you for making them.
