Same complain over and over. Its an Achievement!!! in a game called Guild Wars in which the ongoing battle between servers plays a Big Role, including providing buffs that influence your PvE.. you dont want a monthly achievement to include it?

I understand if people complained about salvaging but about WvW? thats GW2’s main theme. You have 1 month to go in there 2 hrs and get your contribution sionce the rest of the month you are leeching from the people that do.

In a month, those bonuses cut your leveling, crafting, grinding for a lot more than the time it needs for you to get it done… so stop the QQ. You dont need the monthly reward you know. You want the rewards from doing an ACHIEVEMENT? then go put some effort.

when will this event be fixed? GW2 is a new game with a few bugs still…wouldn’t it be prudent to do more server restarts?.

The NPC can be res by a Guardian or a Elementalist but that doesnt fix the event. I saw in a video that going back into the first room (after completing the second) makes the boss go to the NPC and one shot him while loosing the immunity buff. I was able to res the NPC and stack on him so the boss would kill him, but this doesnt remove the buff.

Anet, please do redundancy checks for things like this. Glitches like this affected a lot of NPCs and Skill points in the past. When bugs are abundant (like in any new game) resets are needed…either by redundancy checks that make the NPCs reset themselves or server resets that reset everything.

I really like the “live patching” GW2 has that allows us to finish what we’re doing before forcing us to patch… but full resets are needed sometimes.

Anyone else feels like having a warrior in a group makes him a Tank instantly.

We always run with a warrior and he has the mobs on him 95% of the time. When hes not there, all the mobs run randomly towards party members. Is this normal?

The second most “aggroed” class Ive seen is the Guardian.

Do you know how hard it is to keep 100 ppl happy all the time? Besides, every time I need a gold for a purchase I’ll revoke my vote till I have the gold back. It will be a constant on and off.

I understand something as significant should not fall under the pay-to-win strat but dont agree with being able to pull your vote out. Specially w/o any penalty or restriction.

Why not make it something that you can purchase with 5k Badges of Honor. As it stands now you dont need to have ever left Lion’s Arch to be a WvW commander. Its stupid. Also, make it optional to see them.

have you seen Mes’s portals that allow your team to be faster than that thief? What about their Y axis movement with it… moving people from start to end in jumping puzzles?

You can’t talk about 1 skill for a class ignoring everything else. You take thieves mobility and they are dead.

This is a PvP Oriented game with a WvW as its theme. They dont ask for it on the daily but theres no reason to exclude from a monthly. Everyone wants to use the WvW bonuses but most don’t want to contribute. They do that as an incentive so people want to fight for those benefits.

What would happen if:
I dont gather, please eliminate the gathering
I like selling items for gold so eliminate the salvaging
I dont like events so eliminate that requirement.
I dont do instances so the 100k xp is too hard, please remove it

Every area of the monthly has milestones which reward you on completion(ex salvage lvl I, II, III, IV) If you do everything but the PvP you’ll be rewarded partially. Its supposed to be an achievement and REWARD WORTHY so spend 1hrs in WvW a month to get it :P.

we were doing path one today and it bugged right before he opened the door for us to look for the Item (staff I think or something). We got the Troll right before than and he killed the npc but he came back up after we got the Troll. We walked to the next check point on the map and the NPC didn’t interact nor open the door for us

Keeping the DR system secret is just Security through Obscurity, which really doesn’t work.

That just means its a flawed system. Scare/secret tactics its just unprofessional and dumb. What are we playing now, the Wizard of Oz and Anet is the man behind the curtain? “Follow my rules but I wont tell you what they are… BUT is u dont, you’ll Pay” WTF is that Anet.

If the system is good, telling the players about it will avoid some unnecessary frustration this “hit and miss” game is getting REALLY OLD.

The Daily +40 takes care of the incentive for people to run multiple paths. DR system offers nothing.
Best case scenario: It punished good players
Worst case scenario (currently active): It punishes good players and randomly punishes other players

The only way to improve on the DR system is to shut it down. It’s a system made to punish good players. It doesn’t help against exploits in any way.

Title says it all. If Anet already stated they know the system is bugged, shut it down.

  1. shut it down
  2. work on Bots, they are kitten up the economy (have a captcha prompt users reported 10-15 times or w/e)
  3. Work on fixing the Bugs
  4. Work on fixing the exploits
  5. Take a break
  6. Think about the DR system and understand that it only affects good players
  7. If not convince that DR is a horrible system that doesn’t solve exploits, go back to step 5
  8. Have a lot of happy players
  9. Profit

Im surprised and disapointed Anet rather punish a lot of honest players for the sake of , maybe, catching a few exploiters.

I have not been directly affected by this but it sucks having 6 friends online and still have to pug 1-2 players because the ones being directly affected don’t want to run instances.

If your system is flawed, if you already stated its bugged perma-DRing some people, REMOVE THE SYSTEM UNTIL ITS WORKING. Do you really rather punish your loyal/honest players for the sake of a few getting faster badges?

I really don’t understand the winning scenario here. You implemented a system who’s sole purpose is to grief good players by forcing them to run slower. This system does nothing for exploits.

What the system does now:

  1. Force people to track their start-end time (sometimes with pics) to make sure we’re doing as told
  2. Check at the end who got what. Looks like an AA meeting “My Name is Gynxz and I got 45 marks”
  3. Make people that got punished by a flawed system write an angry post in the forums.

What the system doesn’t Do

  1. Handle legit exploits. The same CoF path that brought all this talk about exploits is STILL being exploited. I never new of an exploit until this system came. Now I know about 3 just for path 2. I don’t like them, I don’t use them… but I know them.

Fixating on TIME is the wrong approach. Yes, exploiters usually look for ways to make it easier/faster but that’s not the common denominator that should be addressed. Its like saying “Terrorists use GAS stations so lets shut them all down”. What about the 100’s of people getting punished for doing it right?

If the system is not working, shut it down.

there was a roll back a few days ago that affected some people. Do you remeber if you grinded all those levels in maybe 1-2 hrs? Also , check if you have the mats that were supposed to be used for that leveling

please stop making a fool of yourselves by making threads “XX dungeon/path is impossible” when others are doing it.

You have good points that are hidden by the fact that people loose respect on those that cry impossible.

I don’t agree on the “defend” challenge since I find it just that, challenging. People can’t just go into a dungeon with the “zomg Im full deepzors look at me kitten with my pew pew”. If you are dying to an encounter with limited mobs per wave and no other restriction (npc health, time, etc) then you need to out live the mobs. Get Th and Vit.

On the Torches I do agree. Super simple when in a team with full voice communication but extremely challenging with just 1 person outside of that loop. GW2 Does NOT provide, nor require a voice program and encounters should not escalate in difficulty so astronomically based on having, or not, a voice program to support the run. one shotted it every time with a group in Mumble but on our first time had to replace 3 pugs before getting a guildy. Everyone now refuses to do unless in a full guild group… and we love that route.

Listen to the FULL explanation on the manifesto. You are taking just a piece of their explanation out of context and saying they lied.

His quote has nothing to do with the “kill 10 requirement” but rather with how this “10” are presented to the player. When they give you a quest to kill 10 centaurs because they are attacking a village “You SEE the centaurs” actually attacking and not just standing in a field.

Watch it again and you will understand his true meaning.

Just have the Capcha appear if you get reported 5-10 times.
And for the people about to go “yeah but then they…..” there’s IS NOT A 100% BOT FREE SOLUTION, JUST WAYS TO MAKE IT HARDER. Stop complaining about every suggestion just because its not 100% effective.

to the OP: You do know this is a PvP Oriented game called Guild Wars. This Wars are the main theme and are fought in the Eternal Battle grounds. You ENJOY the benefits of this wars.

Don’t you think its unfair to request the main area of the game to be excluded from its Monthly? Why not exclude the gathering and the salvaging which are a lesser representation of what GW2 is about than PvP. I rather have Dungeon runs x5 than salvaging x500.

Bots= Called bots because they are not controlled by a player. A player used a program to leave the character unatended farming gold/karma for him. This goes against the rules of the game since the player is not actually playing the game and impacting negatively the experience of other players.

They should not have any (or very little ) impact on map completion and personal story completion since they usually appear in events with a lot of mobs.

Red/orange areas are delimiters for an event. it means an even is happening inside it. you get rewards according to your participation. Bots could have a negative impact on it but not necessarily the reason why you got little reward. Blue circles are areas players must step in and defend. Usually blue circles are areas that will be invaded and all players must defend. Feel free to join in all of them, they are for the full community.

Okay…I’m a ‘noobie’ and would like to know what these bots are doing? Why are they a bother to you in GW2? If they are farming that doesn’t affect your farming does it? And, how does one ‘report’ them?

Do you see them in PvE and PvP? I’m only playing PvE so far—don’t intend to even try PvP—PC is to slow.

If there are 100 bots in an event constantly attacking everything that moves, how many creatures will you be able to actually hit?

  1. Having bots in a zone over populates it, meaning you will have problem rendering mobs until they are very close to you.
  2. Having 100 bots in an event will make it almost impossible for you to get your full reward. It makes it harder for you to see the mobs and ‘tag’ them before the bots kill them
  3. Bots farm 24/7 making them Rich. Having a high population of rich players makes the economy raise their prices. If a group has many people with a lot of money.. Items will sell at a higher price. Bots are rich, you are poor.. who do you think will afford the good stuff.

I remember seeing a few of the items needed for relics at half the price hey are now. If enough people have 100g to spare, good items will sell at 100g.

To report them, just click on them and right click-report. Make sure its a bot and not just a player that is afk for 3 mins :P

In most PvE situations, events and instances, you have time to pick them up. It will be Xmas for Bots to have this implemented.

I rather go and play the game than stand in a city spamming.

At least have a Dungeon channel that you can ONLY access at level 30+ to reduce spammers. Maybe even at 80 since most people running instances are 80. That way I can be helping a friend in a level 20 zone and still see someone’s post “LF1M Awesome asura for CoF” so I can ditch my friend and go do CoF :P

I would love to see a check box on every vendor that allows me to filter items displayed by ONLY things that I can use. Yes sometimes I want to see other classes armors and weapons but I’m afraid of miss clicking and getting a Heavy armor piece that’s SA(soulbound on acquire). Same for the TP, add an option for Armor type (light, med, high) or a check box like “Filter by things I can use”.

Give us the options to see only OUR stuff and, when we choose, click it off to drool at the great swords or light armor sets (Thief here). It will make the process a lot more secure and faster.

Your idea sounds good on paper and I wouldn’t mind a half-way compromise but I don’t like the fact of giving same rewards for simpler/easier.

Ramifications
“I dont need the low level Blood, events should give crated items of your level”
“But I dont want crafting items of my level”
“Lets all go to X zone and do Y event because its the shortest for its reward”

Your idea sounds great “Let us play where we want w/o a penalty”, I just don’t think that a 1 step fix will bring more good than bad.

Another Big problem: “There are 30 level 80’s on my event. Im level 7 with only one weapon skill unlocked on my sword and I cant tag creatures before they kill them all. I keep failing the event or getting bronze.”
OR: “It takes me 40 mins to complete a heart because level 80’s are killing everything for a close by Defend event. They have more/better attacks, speed buffs and understand better how to clear this event.”

GW2 is not supposed to be competitive but when enough people group together to do an event.. it becomes a competition. (see Orr events for reference)

Anet just needs anti-exploit code at the application level (built into game binaries) to detect whether or not keystrokes are hardware or software derived… and / or have the game detect most known bot progs and refuse to run if one is present. There’s many ways to combat exploits but it has to be done on the application level to be most efficient. You could do it on the network layer but that would increase bandwidth slightly.

I agree. MY only concerns is time. That solution might be more effective but will also take some time to gather up information and patterns so “normal” players dont get reported while grinding.

Also, what will the action be once the system detects it? Seeing how they handles the “speed runs” Im concerned on how many regular players could be punished by such a system. Thats why Im not offering an actual punishment.

Bots are destroying the economy and the longer it takes the worst it will be. Your solution, even though probably the best at long term, might take to long to implement with minimal risk to normal players. I’m not saying its a bad one… I agree and should ALSO be put in place. I just think we need to start lowering this threat NOW.

What I suggest should be easy to implement and should not have any down side nor risk.

Please don’t comment if you haven’t read my post. It’s insulting plus it offers incorrect information to the people making the same mistake you did.

  1. This is not a 100% Bot free solution
  2. It attacks the majority of mouse/kb macro bots
  3. I already went and offered a suggestion to counter the right corner clickers

Can this system be bypassed?.. Yes, by either programs that recognize the colors/objects in the screen or IF the game actually emits traceable events every time there’s a reward showing.

@marianitten.1247: Do you close your doors at night? Do you have a secure password for your internet activity? Do you use any security feature ever invented? If you answer yes to any of those questions you are a hypocrite.

There’s no 100% solution nor can a company handle 100’s (if not 1000’s) cases on an individual basis. So we’re left with 2 alternatives #1 Try to come up with middle ground solutions #2 Complain at the current situation and do nothing but reject any other alternative. Guess we’re on two different side on this one.

You cant handle bots on an individual basis. You have to lower their numbers by 90% and personally handle that 10% that’s really good at avoiding automated systems.

So every time someone reports a bot you send a Dev? What about the times people report by mistake, report someone for being afk 30 secs but close to a bot or got kitten at someone and decided to report? Send Steve the bot smasher to the rescue?

Have you guys heard of this thing called… technology? You don’t call in a police officer to chase every person that runs a light or a toll booth. The system snags their picture and sends a fee. You need a system to trim down their numbers and then have People handle the worst cases.

That doesn’t help in any way. You are thinking the bots like if they were persons. Is not about the reward. They won’t sleep. They won’t Stop. They will be doing exact the same task for hours, for days, they are going to receibe more than you anyways. Any system that cut out rewars ONLY PUNISH REAL PLAYERS, NOT BOTS.

But it’s simple already. Just put one dedicated player, who can’t teleport to any part of the map. If someone report a bot, they go there i see it with her/his own eyes. Blocked. Easy.. see?

Not sure who is your reply for but if it is for me… well, you didn’t read what I said. There’s is NO reduction on reward unless you are not actively playing the game. Even then, it will take over 30 mins of unattended play time for my suggestion to trigger. So how is cutting the rewards form people that are afk for over 30 mins PUNISHING REAL PLAYERS?

Currently, karma and xp rewards are based on your adjusted level.

My suggestion is that they should scale based on your real level.

Item rewards (loot) already scale based on your real level (you can get level 80 loot in a level 1-15 zone) so this wouldn’t be a precedent as a game mechanic.

Alternately, this could be a feature that is only available at max level, that is, once you’re level 80, you get the same karma/xp rewards for participation, regardless of location/event/zone.
This would allow a max level player a real incentive (or at least, no dis-incentive?) to replay all the content in the game, rather than replaying the same few dynamic events in the same few zones to be efficient.

So you are suggestion to get rid of Orr? why would any lvl 80 go there if they can get the same with easier events in easier zones. Being a lot easier is the incentive of low level zones. Going to a lvl 15 zone with full exotic gear and a full skill set (elite skills and all) and a lot better understanding of how to play your character makes the content incredibly easier compared to a normal lvl 15. Thats the incentive.

Im happy this game still gives me some xp/gold/karma for going back and completing the map

9. If you canceled an item that you were selling on Trading Post, Please allow FULL REFUND!

^ this stink, even in Reallife if you return any item, you would get full refund…

What would be the purpose of the fee then? This fee help avoid the AH (<- should be TP) from being filled with trash since there’s an actual penalty for placing an item there. Just fill the AH (<-TP) with expensive trash until you get tired and remove it.

My counter recommendation would be “Keep the Fee”

Creating a bot that can click on a certain “Location” in programming is extremely easy to do, and therefore this wouldn’t work.

Dealing with bots its not about Stopping them, its about making it harder. There’s an amazing bot program for this game that does a LOT but still, what I see most of the time are players with key repeaters to auto attack.

If you came here looking for a 100% bot smashing solution you are crazy. Read the title at least before posting. Ways to “reduce” bots.

Why not put a cap on event rewards that are displayed on your upper right corner?

Lets say that when you finish an event and get the gold/silver/bronze medal appear on your right-top corner, you don’t receive the reward until you click on that medal to “cash-in”.

Now lets say you can have a max of 3-5 medals pending…this will cut down:

  1. People that use Mause/KB macros to just spam repeated actions
  2. 24/7 bots (until a better program is made)

Another option would be to add a transparent help option behind those Medals so, in the case there are NO medals to “cash-in”, clicking on that area will get you to a help menu about Events (while locking your character from any other actions until Exit). In the case there’s a macro clicking on that corner it will lock the character on a help menu.

Yes, people will still be able to get XP and some gold but it will cut down the rewards for all and will discourage the simple mouse/kb macros.

*Power increases non-condition damage done with attacks. Condition damage increases…well, damage from conditions (fire, poison, bleeds).

*Toughness reduces non-condition damage taken.

Take into account that most attacks HIT the target and then apply a condition. That HIT benefits from power while the burning benefits from condition. Also, condition damage might be a lot higher but has all the cons of a dot (no up front damage, can be healed/removed/inverted). So, while condition damage can do 8k damage vs a 3k hit, condition damage can be healed or removed before reaching 1k in damage. Also, many classes in GW2 can revert that back to the target or turn in into boons.

Find the balance that fits your play style and play type (WvW, tournament, Events, questing, dungeons) and have fun :P

didn’t you get the memo? they said its NOT intended for you to run around the room. So they changed it to run INTO the room.

I have done the instance many times, before and after “fix” but the “intended” way seems not doable or at least far from the optimal. Please stop “fixing” to force players to play they way you want. That goes against the GW2 philosophy, maybe they didn’t get the memo.

  2. Then the first Dev post on this thread dismissed the post by calling, whats clearly not, a DR.

So we are asked to use our judgement and determine if something we did might trigger a super secret “thing” without us having any other information. So whats the plan? post every Run and wait for them to tell you if you got more/less/equal quantity of marks as you should have?

We cant reveal the location or how they act BUT ‘If you think you are running at a fairly reasonable pace’ you might not hit it. At this time we wont disclose what WE think its a reasonable pace nor any of the other triggers. Pray you don’t crash against the wall, but if you do, have a love one contact us and ask if it was intended or a bug”

Still, Im pretty sure they “tweaked” crafting xp. Done 3 masters already and now it seems like Im getting a lot less… on par with the other nerfs like Dim. returns on farming and instance speed runs.

Can anyone else confirm this?

For Kessex Fields, put a mesmer port in one side and the other at the other side of the bridge on the Explosive Shells. They port, take the shell, boom out of the ports range so cant port back :P

Easy Fix. have a mesmer put a portal on them and another in an explosive shell ot a mine when the CD is about to run out. Having a lot of Fun in Dragonbane porting people to the other side of the bridge and staying there spamming skills :P

Same, always report them but its frustrating when you are trying to do an event and you can’t even see the mobs, or tag them, before the bots kill them. I cant get credit on kills because of how much time it takes to render them. Just came here to open up a post when I saw there was one already.

So I get experience/loot from about 30% of them because AFKers are getting the same?

I think this has priority over avoiding Dungeons farming since you have to , At least, be active to farm the dungeons.
