I do tend to character hop a lot since it depends on who I feel like progressing with that day (I still have two characters who haven’t finished the base game yet, and one low level character I’m holding onto to join up with my friend and his krewe of new players).
For the past years I’ve just been tearing through Mythril/Orichalcum tools from merchants since they’re not that expensive (although remembering to swap to Ori for top tier nodes and then back to Mythril for everything else is kind of a pain).
One last question, then.
This bundle of tools uses the wording
‘The tools will replace your existing tools on any character.’
But that specific “any” is still any single character, and not any character overall, right? It’s just a bit unclear since the sentence can still correctly be read to mean any you choose, up to and including all of them.
Pretty much what it says in the title. Despite being a player since the early early betas, I’ve never actually invested in unbreakable harvest tools, and there’s something that keeping me from potentially investing that I really wanna make sure about by now.
If I buy one, it’s only one, right? It’s not an account-based thing, meaning I’d need to buy a set for each character, or buy shared inventory slots and actually remember to un-equip and de-equip them each session. With thirteen characters (and more in the future once we finally get new races to play), the latter option’s pretty tedious.
Second, can they actually even go into shared inventory slots? Or is each tool Soulbound? I’ve had players in-game say both Soul and Account bound.
I did search before making this, but looking for harvesting tools in the search bar comes back with over two thousand results. A bit more than I’m able to sift through to see if everything was answered already.
Sorry if this is the wring section since I don’t kno if this is actually a bug or just an oversight, and if not a bug I didn’t find a “Suggestions” sub-forum to put this in.
I just bought myself the Moth Wings Glider/Backpack combo, and I’m quite enjoying the glider as my “signature” glider across all characters. On my main character however, I’m using both the Moth Wings Glider and Backpack combo for the proper thematics (was previously using Eagle Wings combo), and while the glider is dyed and perfect in color, I don’t see a way to dye the backpack version.
I dunno if it’s a bug and dying one is supposed to dye the other automatically, or if there’s a missing section in the dye menu to get color-able backpacks, but it’s pretty awkward to be running around one minute with the default red, only to have it change to whatever I have it dyed as (different between characters; green on the character wearing the combo), and then have it go back to red upon landing. Would really appreciate if there was a way to have both versions dye together so it doesn’t constantly color-swap like that, or at least know if there’s no hope for that and that I’m SoL for that character.
Don’t do a repair. It takes too long.
Delete GW2’s temporary file so it has to regenerate the file. You’ll only lose your graphics and sound settings but that’s it.
It fixed it for me.
Go here: C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2 and delete the “Local.dat” file.
I am getting same error code 1083:5:7:1595:101 yet hubby is upstairs on GW2 playing away. We are on same internet…… So I looked to see if others were having the same issues and found this thread.
I just deleted the “Local.dat” file and that worked just fine! Thanks!
I have not seen this location on my PC :/
I also don’t have this path. I can get to Roaming, but GW2 doesn’t have a folder in there. GW2 itself is on the D: drive, but since the file is supposed to go to Users, that shouldn’t matter.
I’m assuming that they’re waiting to actually realize what the problem is before they say anything, since nobody likes to hear “Yeah we know about it.” and that’s it.

I’d like to throw in that actually using the updrafts in the first place are also unreliable. Half the time, instead of rising up on the glider, the player will do the “you don’t have JumpShroom mastery” spinning animation and just waste time getting hit by the damage field. Even if the player does manage to get airborne after a failed animation, they’re “in battle” slowed to the point where dodging the boulder toss is really difficult, and obviously getting hit with just one is instant fail and restart.
And of course if he’s using his big zappy field at the time, it will hit the player as they glide over it and kill them outright as well because of fall damage.
I didn’t even get recipe from completeing my Daredevil, luckily, check out Laurel Vendor, they sell you your Daredevil recipes for 1 Laurel + 8 silver and 64 copper.
Much appreciated for the save. I also got no recipe.
Will still gladly take Rune of the Daredevil even if Scrapper would be better for them.
Me and my assistant working the Weaponsmithing forge one last time.
I’ve been living and making a living at the Weaponsmith’s forge since the beginning. If either of us go out, we’re going to go out together.
Ignoring the fact that there’re no Soldier Jewels and thus those slots will be “of the Cleric”, would a 4-4 split (3 armor and one main-set weapon) be fair between Cleric and Soldier? (I have no plans for EM either.) Or would it optimally be a more tilted split like 5-3 or 6-2? (Not sure the optimal distribution for the former, but the latter is obviously Armor = one type with weapons = the other type.)
Like the thread title suggests, I’m building my Guardian as a full support-styled character:
Mace/Shield for heal spam, with Staff on the swap for more heals and buff spam.
Wall of Reflection, Sanctuary, Purging Flames, and “Hold the line!” are generally the skills competing for the utility slots.
However, I can’t decide which would be more useful for a support Guardian: Cleric’s armor or Apothecary’s armor. Both give me the Healing Power I want as well as a defensive stat (Toughness). But since there’s no Healing|Vitality|Toughness set yet, I have to go with either Power or Condition Damage.
The former helps with the constant auto-attacks of course, but outside of the set, I’d have no more income of Power, so I’m not sure if it’d be wasted or not.
On the other hand, Condition Damage helps with the burning from Virtue of Justice, and isn’t needed in as large a quantity as Power since burning hurts enough as is. However, it also feels wasted due to only using one skill that burns, and triggering Justice slowly because of the Mace.
I’ve also looked at and considered a Magi’s set (from the Orrian Exotic Karma merchants) since it still gives Healing and trades Toughness for Vitality (which I find more valuable defensively). But again, I feel the Precision would be wasted since crits aren’t guaranteed, I attack slow, and because there’s no Power backing up the crits in the first place.
Can I get some forum-goer opinions on which would be most optimal among the three please? (And no, I will not consider a Greatsword build under any means. Greatsword Guardians are freakin’ everywhere, and while not necessarily OP, they definitely outclass pretty much anything else available.)
Well for the past two days, I’ve won a game or two of Crab Grab, and for the rest of the matches that I had played, there was always one guy in every arena who spent the next 45 mins or so doing absolutely nothing but purposely ruining my experience by attacking me all game. It kinda sucks when I can’t even play when I get Planked or Fished every 5 seconds. Made worse today by a guy with a Pole and a Conch; it was impossible for me to do anything without totally focusing on said guy and wasting all my stamina rolling him and not the Karka.
It was mostly ok today since I was able to change arenas ok, but outside of the weekend, I only have a small timeframe to actually play, and it’s really kitten when I can’t because of people like them.
Edit: That is an adorable censor.
Exactly What It Says On The Tin. I don’t know if it was just an isolated bug or if it’s around more, but in one of the games I played today, a Guardian would occasionally get Blocks when punched, planked, etc, and the Aegis ’"refresh" particle would play a bit after.
Not a terribly big deal, but something nonetheless.
(Off topic. Can someone point me to where I can report griefers? None of the in-game options are even close to “Report for Griefing”)
I do have the same set up in the sPvP lobby, so I’ll give that a check and see if anything changes. If it is the issue, hopefully there’s a fix being worked on somewhere.
Been meaning to ask this for over half a year, but kept forgetting. NO MORE.
My main character has six Superior Runes of the Thief equipped on his armor, but due to the fact (I think) that I applied them over the old Major Runes of the Thief while I was still wearing the armor, the counter for total number of Runes reads “12/6” in red instead of the usual “6/6” in blue. I tried taking off the armor, but it then said “6/6” both when it was in my inventory as well as my Bank. I did some math before and after I put the armor back on, and I’m not getting the bonus stats as far as I can tell. Is there anyway I can “reset” the counter without having to buy the Runes/make the Armor over again? (It was expensive).
And yes, when doing the math for the totals, I took off all my gear as well as Signet of Agility. I then noted my base Precision and subtracted it from the total Precision after putting just the 6 armor pieces back on, and the numbers came out to note that I was getting the variable Precision of the armor, but not the 165 Precision from each Rune.
I really wanted to put in a screenshot of the panel, but the in-game screencapper hides the mouse and any open panels, and for some reason Print Screen fails as well because the character model layers over the info panel.
Thanks for the time reading this.
I run Rampager’s already, and I do well for myself considering I mainly PvE. I just want opinions on which is the superior glass cannon: upfront burst, or massive DoT.
The FPS comment was towards WvW. I could handle sPvP visually, I just have no interest. Mention both of them was to just note that I would wanna WvW if I could, in case that changed any opinions that my question seeked.
Probably not helpful in the long run, but for the Dungeon PuG aspect of the issue, I use <a href=“http://gw2lfg.com”>GW2LfG</a> site when I can’t /map LA for people anymore.
Edit: Nvm. Ninja’d.
Just fishing for some opinions. I don’t play sPvP, and while I can’t play it due to poop FPS I would enjoy a tad of WvW, but for a casual PvE damage Thief, which armor type would be better: full Zerks for massive Backstab/Unload crit damage, or full Rampagers for massive amounts of DoTs from Bleed stacks/Poison?
(Obviously running Dual Daggers and Dual Pistols. Have a Shortbow just in case I ever need to deal with a large mob myself with tons of kiting, but not used enough to give more credit to Rampager.)
