I was hoping for the dash animation to be a bit quicker and more blurred like that of Ciri from The Witcher 3 game. Other than that, I don’t mind the dashing animation.
I noticed that the elite skill doesn’t have a cooldown. I don’t think they mentioned it verbally on the POI? I wonder what the actual cooldown will be.
Other than that, I really appreciate the fact that they have gone through many iterations of Daredevil. The end result looks great!
While I secretly hope to hear from Anet too, now is probably the worst time as a developer to go on forums and read about player frustrations and impatience. Posts like this degrade morale of staff and does not contribute to faster development time. How would you feel if your work was constantly shamed on the forums even in the midst of deadlines and trying your best to improve quality for players?
If you feel that a staff is not doing their jobs properly, my personal approach would be to send a ticket for Anet to handle it internally.
The silence is deafening, yes, I’m a player too. However, demanding “our satisfaction, or else…” approach seems foolish to me. No developer wants the heavy burden of knowing players quit because of their poor work. We don’t need to reiterate threats publicly directed towards staff, calling their names out, and demanding requests.

The active stance for this skill currently gives all boons to all nearby allies (600 radius).
What does the community think about having the skill give a stronger version of selective boons depending on ally positioning relative to the Revenant?
For example, allies near the Revanant (within 300 radius) receives protection, regen, and swiftness (more potent than current numbers), and the allies further from the Revenant (300~600 radius) gains might and fury (also more potent than current numbers).
The idea here is that ally positioning in a fight is key to which boon you will receive and thus adding a layer of small but reasonable tactical skill. This will give players the opportunity to have more impact via stronger boons supporting their respective play style – whether it’s damage dealing from further away or facing an enemy up close.
I really despise all the pirate themed thief equipment in game. If thief specialization incorporates anything pirate, I am outta here!
With the lack of Anet’s attention to thieves for such an extended period of time, I’m not expecting much for the thief’s elite specialization. Meanwhile, Revenant and Mesmer seems to be overshadowing thieves in many ways via damage, cc, stealth, and evades.
I sincerely hope there is something exciting for a thief player on the horizon, because recently I find myself without much reason to log in.
I actually wanted this feature too, and was surprised that there was no option to do so.
Mainly, having your information displayed on top of your character promotes self-identity and “reassures” your achievements at a glance. I know it sounds kind of silly, but there is no reason to make snarky comments about this feature..
Furthermore, I can understand that this may not be top priority. However, from a programmer’s perspective, this should not be a difficult task as there is already a method to display you and everyone else’s name / guild / accomplishments.
Dueling builds are completely worthless because they aren’t viable in ANY aspect of GW2.
So unless you are dueling with a meta build or something viable its pointless.
There’s actually a large community that regularly plays in ‘dueling’ servers. So if this is what a player wants to do, it’s perfectly reasonable to look for a dueling build. Furthermore, duels happen on a regular basis on / off points of spvp and with the introduction of Guild Hall, there will be plenty more opportunities for dueling. It’s far from ‘worthless’.
As for OP, look into metabattle and you’ll find some builds there.
So you would like to kill the only meta-viable thief available because you had someone backstab you for “INSANE” amounts of damage?
Please, reconsider your post after playing a thief extensively for yourself. Why do you think all thieves you see are rabbit holed into using remove condi on stealth? Why do you think it’s okay to not be able to kill a diamond ele but you deserve the right to remove the only survival option for thieves? Is this a game of morals? are thieves supposed to do ‘good deeds’ and not stealth as much?
I have no idea what your point is on this topic. Please don’t take out your frustrations on a forum post saying ‘nerf xyz, I can’t deal with it’.
I can’t believe I JUST found out I can get a beagle in game!
Will the mini puppy be back for sale anytime soon? (wintersday 3 mini package?)
thanks!
While I agree that random slight incline (hard to see) blocking shadow step is annoying, you can jump right before shadow step to ‘hop’ over an obvious obstacle that is about half the character height. This also is a valid QoL inquiry for other classes with teleport.
Secondly, your point of UI getting in the way sounds like your control problem. If UI is in the way, quickly turn the screen and use your muscles ;]
Also, check the options to zoom out further by increasing field of view to aid with UI blocking issues.
SR has pulses, so if you enter it late, you will have shorter stealth time.
In my opinion, these pulses should determine how long you have stealth, and if you leave early, you destealth early.
Due to the fragile nature of thieves and high availability of mobility skills, thieves rely on more skill on the player’s part to correctly time evades / shadow steps to be played correctly. If you are looking for a class with high skill cap, thief is definitely your go-to profession.
Use left mouse click to rotate the camera and you can ‘walk forward’ while looking at another direction.
I used to main s/d acro thief as well, and I have tried every single acro build combinations post-patch. No build with acro traitline seems viable at the moment. The rewards of great evade timings are lackluster and newer traits such as steal CD reduction has little power in successfully making s/d fit in the ‘meta’. With the huge power spike in most class damage output there’s also little meaning to evading a few attacks only to be caught in 1 cc and die from condis with no chance to recover (unless you of course trait SA). Which leaves thieves to no option but to trait for SA instead. I definitely would say diversity is killed with the new acro line, and I’m still upset over the changes as one of my friends have even chosen to quit over this problem. Meanwhile I am exploring other classes in PvP which seemed to have received the better end of the deal. I do hope that acro will be addressed soon to better fit in with current gameplay.
Hi Anet,
Could you possibly implement an option to save trait lines and name it?
This would work only when out of combat as per usual, but can be a quick way to switch to desired traits when necessary.
For example, I can save a combination of traits and call it “Regen” to use when I find regen to be necessary without having to sort through various traits one at a time.
