I really like the sound of Mordremoth’s corruption being The Blight, and The Blighted has a nice ring to it. It is certainly possible that it could be mordremoth’s corruption.
Now, on the subject of the Sylvari, and I don’t want to derail the subject into another Sylvari/mordremoth discussion, but it should be noted that During the Tower of Nightmares, If you did the story missions about malyck, Scarlet will say to you something along the lines of “I know Malycks Secret.” However, there were alot of Personal Story references in ToN, and that could just be there to reference that chain of events.
Thats a good point actually. Its been a while since I’ve done any personal story, and the journal I looked at was a Sylvari, Whispers aligned, hylek sympathizer. My story was almost entirely devoted to the Risen and zhaitan.
I guess it really depends on how long season 2 is. I’ve heard claims that it has been said that season 2 will be much shorter than season one (although that was more than a year…), but I still don’t see us fighting Mordremoth at the end of season 2 unless it is almost entirely devoted to building him up as an antagonist.
Then again, the pact is already looking into the situation with that roar, which is something I forgot about… Alot of the personal story was about Coming together to stop the dragons, Well, we are already all together, we just need another Dragon. I’m not too sure Mordremoth should count as a huge threat considering he just woke up, but you may as well get ’em while they are down, eh?
The reason they don’t have Cross-weight armor is because different peices have seams in different spots. Ex: The skirts on Heavy and light are part of the legs, but on medium they are on the torso, therefore, Medium and light/heavy cannot be combined without heavy clipping issues.
Season 2 thus should conclude Scarlet’s plot – with Mordremoth’s defeat.
I thought that initially, but I have been thinking about it recently: Our character’s don’t even know who Mordremoth is, if he poses a threat, his minions, etc. They only have a vague understanding that there was a roar in the jungle, and it might be a dragon.
In the Personal Story, Zhaitan was a Major threat in the world. His minions constantly invade, he has a massive army, His presence is literally everywhere throughout the world. We are introduced to him (his minions/presence) in the first act of the story, and we defeat him in the third act.
If we rush into the jungle and take down Mordremoth so quickly after learning about him, I don’t think the story will have good ‘flow’. In the story journal, The Personal Story has been split into three parts: My Story, The Order’s Of Tyria, an The Elder Dragon Zhaitan. If we were to draw comparisons to the Mordremoth Arc, I think it would probably look like this:
My Story = Season 1 = Introduction to a ‘New Threat’
The Orders of Tyria = Season 2 = The part that marks the Dragon as an Urgent Threat
The Elder Dragon Zhaitan = Season 3 = Confronting the threat
Super Adventure Box. It was the first big update we had gotten since the Lost Shores, and I loved every second of it. W1 was great, and W2 was ok, can’t wait for W3.
I don’t think we will be seeing any more scarlet. That would just be… dumb. I do, however, think we will be seeing the Molten Alliance, Aetherblades, and maybe even the Toxic alliance some more. IIRC, they all had reasons for joining up beyond ‘scarlet told us so,’ and they will probably continue operations independantly in the future.
I don’t think we will get anything big or new with the first update of season 2. After that, I think the types of content we could get will step up, and that could possibly mean a new race. maybe by the end of the year
This has to be a screw up. That article was written after the newspost was made on this website. That would imply that Anet knew IGN would write that article when the put those dates on the side.
They seem to want to acknowledge the personal story in this Season, so I would at least like some characters from the personal Story to show up. The Orders, The Pact, Trahearne, Racial Characters, etc.
The pact was mentioned at the end of Season one, so I hope they make an appearance, and The Tower of Nightmares made some references to the Personal Story (You could fight Hallucinations of Destiny’s Edge, Your Order Mentor, and Trahearne. You could also Rescue a few people from your Racial Arc.) I guess what I am saying is that I want a more cohesive story.
I don’t think we will be fighting the dragon this Season. We will go out into the Maguuma most likely, to investigate the lore. Some kitten with the White mantle/bandits will happen, and some of Mordremoth’s minions will be present, but unrelated. The Finale of the season will probably Mordremoth’s in-game reveal, and he will probable destroy something, or at least to significant damage to something, which will mark him as an urgent threat, where he will probably be hunted down and killed in season 3.
Thats pretty much what I already do. Just run whatever, but I don’t expect to run any content with people who would expect me to use meta builds (speed runs, etc.) I generally do dungeons and stuff with a friends who either do or don’t use meta builds.
Some people, however, do like using meta builds, and if they like that sorta thing, more power to them. I generally don’t play with these people, but thats because our paths don’t normally cross during my gameplay, and i’m looking for something else out of the game.
Once W4 is complete, I could totally see Anet putting ‘SAB Home Consoles’ in the gem store for people to buy. I would buy one.
Basically converting Season 1 to the new system would push back Season 2 and all other future releases, possibly by months. I don’t think that would go over well with players.
This is why I think they should wait until after season 2. I also think that they should get it in before season 3. Right now, they need to focus getting season 2 as great as it can be. A good chunk of people playing right now know how season 1 went down, so they don’t need immediate replayability.
However, the longer they wait, the more players will be introduced and be completely in the dark about season 1 (Season 2 might begin with a strong enough recap to at least let people have a clue as to what is going on, that might be good enough for the time being.)
Edit: Unrelated to the rest of my post, but I really like the Idea of the pact being there in the suggested instanced versions of the Tower of Nightmares, Marrionette, and Battle for LA. Maybe someone could mention what Trehearne has been up to. (Not including him directly because it would be a pain to rehire his voice actor for such a small part. Also people hate him.)

Probably the biggest problem they will face is making the story flow better from episode to episode. In season one, they were not designed to play back to back, and alot of information was presented outside of the game. There would probably need to be heaps of added dialogue and cutscenes, especially for the earlier episodes. Honestly though, season one could be a great story if it had better flow and coherence. (I think Scarlet was an excellent villain, In theory. I think Anet thought so as well. Her in-game presentation however, was lacking.)
I think most of your ideas are good ways to tackle the other problems. I would scale the large scale events down to solo instances (That of course would be largely reworked.) Im exited to see how Anet tackles this, if they even do. Personally, I would love to see season 1 added before season 3, but right now, they need to focus on making season 2 as great as it can be.

I think it would be pretty cool to have past events like The Ancient Karka (And the colonization of Southsun), The Tower of Nightmares, The Battle of Lion’s Arch(Parts 1&2), And the Marrionette as “Fractal Raids.” The fractals are a neat tool for keeping “old” content in the game long after its gone. It would be silly to only restrict it to small group dungeons.
Do hillbillies even exist in Tyria?
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School

I was thinking about the hillbillies in SAB, and with a bit of research, I found that Hillbillies are an American thing originating from the 18/1900’s. This seems well after the “Time period (Since it doesnt actually take place on Earth, Time equivalencies don’t really apply)” that GW2 takes place in. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillbilly
I guess Im just curious…. Does Tyria have hillbillies? If not, then how did moto come up with the Idea? I don’t know, it just struck me as odd.
Gotta agree with Einlanzer here.
To me, the LS feels like its just tacked on. It doesnt feel like part of the main game. Every update seems like a holiday event, even when it has nothing to do with a holiday. I wanted the living story to feel like an add-on to the personal story, but it doesnt. It feels like tacky Checklists.
Thats not to say I dont like the concepts and story. The delivery and implementation just irks me the wrong way. I feel like they are digging themselves into a hole that they will never get out of with the LS. I hope it gets better. I hope it starts to feel like a core part of the game and not a random assortment of events.

Literal tears of joy came out when I saw this.
Edit: i wonder what is up with the notebook-esque background. Also, that black splotch worries me. You know what else had black splotches? The Queens Speech page. I will NEVER forgive Anet if they put Aetherblades inside my SAB. NEVER. Tie the story in with them, whatever, but if they are physically teleporting into my game sessions, NO.

The Commandos have been working in the future-past-future-future to stop the past-future aetherblades from taking present day Divinity’s reach in the future-past. They have already completed their objective in the Alternate-past-future and they caused a split timeline for the future-past-future Player to take care of. Of course, all this already happened from our perspective, so we only see things advance normally, and out alternate-universe-past-future selves are working with the commandos, joing their ranks and whatnot. We will never see this, for it has already happened in the future, their plans have come to fruition, and they have already won. The Mysterious “Mr. E” Is the leader of the commandos, and is working with ourselves from the past in the future-present. Obviously.
We never get to experience any of these convoluted, Complex, meticulously intertwined events, because it is all taking place causing extreme time loops that in order to complete we can never take part in because we are already involved from the start, and involving ourself in the middle of such a complex plan would cause a paradox, because that was not how it happened. This living story is edgy and cool and complex and the mortal minds cannot comprehend this level of time looping because it is four dimensional. Obviously.
You can thank alternate past-future self for not allowing you to get involved in the future by never allowing these events to take place, making them take place.
I think I lost some IQ writing that.

Personally, I would LOVE to see all classes with all weapons. I would love to see how creative they could get with some?
A Ranger with a staff? Maybe some kind of Druid-esque skills.
A warrior with a staff… uh… Maybe something melee oriented?
Theif with a rifle? Sniper rifle. Staff
Engineer with a scepter? uhh…
This is hard to think out, but i bet it could work.
