I’ve been on Hiatus since just after HoT release, main reasons I left were, lack of attention to WvW, horrible new maps, and all garbage that came to WvW with HoT.

Reasons to try it again:

• No cost to do so since you already own the game
• WvW rewards have been added
• New server links have increased populations by effectively condensing have the servers without actually forcing transfers
• WvW is getting some attention so more changes might occur
• Squad functionality continues to improve
• Arctic Borderland returned if you were a fan

Reasons not to depending on which HoT items you disliked:

• HoT Elites are still present
• WvW structures do still auto-upgrade but based on Dolyaks
• Guild halls still required to grant your guild passive buffs for controlled structures
• Scribes still needed if you want to create activate-able structure boons

TY this is more or less what I was looking for.

As for opinions, others may differ but player opinions speak volumes considering when I left the vast majority of the forum posters were wielding pitchforks. It seems this is no longer the case, you can get quite a bit out of others opinions whether you agree or disagree.

Ok thanks for clearing that up so there isn’t 8 maps available between the 2 servers. Doesn’t that cause some Queue issues ?

The fact that there has been no obligatory “no, game sucks, burn any PC that has it installed” is also encouraging.

Stab got buffed, its nice now, I run DH, Berserker again instead of just backline, almost shelved my druid and scrapper. Necros and Eles are still good, thieves still blow in large scale fights.

Servers got merged, so many more people to play with and against, reward tracks got added, lots of changes. It is very much worth checking out at this time, they are still working on it and it still has ways to go, but there are actual changes that are very nice.

I recommend you try it out over the weekend and see. Go to your class forums or hop on TS and ask or look up some recent builds etc. before you do though, lots of balance changes to lots of classes so you may need to adjust your build or make a new one or you’ll be dirtnapping all the time and make complaints on the forums like the people making condi complaints etc.

Also, you most likely have 2 TS servers to choose from now, make sure you have info and can hop onto both. And if you left very shortly after HOT release, you may not have elite specs unlocked. The one thing that has not changed is that elite specs rule.

It is much, much easier and quicker to unlock them now then before, but it does involve a bit of PVE, specifically, you want to use the in game LFG and find a HOT maps Hero Point run and join it. That is the fastest and most efficient way to get elite spec.

Stab got buffed? how so? is it back to normal ? This little tid bit of info is really encouraging.

You’re probably right, what I really would like to know is how this world linking works, there doesn’t seem to be much detail other then glicko resets and angry low tier servers in the sticky post about it. I don’t even know if you are stuck on your own server maps and scores just contribute to both servers or if you can guest to your allied servers BL’s, essentially playing on a different server.

Would it create more issues ? EotM was popular but not with the 24/7 WvW players, was DBL really populated, or was it just a few scraps of people here and there? Would everyone be trying to cram into EB and the 1 Alpine?

From what I have heard and read it seems with the old maps being brought back the game mode had been rejuvenated, there are Queues on all maps which leads me to believe the Majority like this change. I haven’t played in months but it seems that if you were to take away 2 alpines and add a DBL and EotM they would sit there rotting away. Maybe not EotM but that would be a separate group of people playing on that map, the (for lack of better term) normal WvW players would all be trying to squeeze into 2 maps.

I had a friend trying to convince me to come back, so I came here to do some reading. I see they have done a World Linking, can anyone give me a quick bullet point explanation of this. Can you play on your allies BL’s, is the game fun again, are Queues a problem, all that fun stuff.

I also see they brought back the Old maps, this is encouraging.

I’ll be honest I’m on the fence, Anet has proven time and again that they do not learn from their mistakes and refuse to listen to the community. Has anything changed and is there still hope for this Game mode ? Am I locked into whichever server it is I’m on (honestly don’t recall)?

Not sure which is worse, the fact that servers are tanking or the fact that people here actually think posting about it will make Anet care.

Exploits, Hax, Glitches, and Bugs are abused daily and have been since the release of this game and you think NOW their going to start caring ?

Stacking any server does more harm then good usually, the server in question does great for the tournament then everyone leaves often leaving the server in a position that is worse then before the stacking.

DR is a server with a great community, we hold community events every week. Currently we have fought our way to T4, our NA presence is strong but we are lacking in the off hours. Are you stuck PvDing all night ? Sick of no one to fight in your time slot ? Come check us out, there is players to fight in every time slot !

If your looking for a new home that has a great community with no drama check out DR.

But but SF is in fine shape, just ask you local forum warrior leopardwhatever.

If your stuck on a server and your sick of PvD all night and want a great community then hit us up, currently we are in T4. Our NA time slot is contending just fine up here, however, our OCX/Sea could use some help. There is plenty of action here regardless of your time zone.

Ya I’m a bit confused now, whats all this “per level” talk, are the colors free for existing Commanders or not ? He confirmed that we wont be charged 300 per color but will there be a one time fee ? Will certain colors cost us gold as opposed to other colors ?

I’m glad they listened to us, kudos to Anet on that but could we get some detailed clarity ?

So I’m watching the Gamescom 2014 interview with Devon Carver. One question is about a problem with calling for help in capital cities (LA) like we used to do. Since we simply cannot run into LA and say “X map needs help now! Golems inc Garri!” any longer with the Mega Server system.

How about we take a page out of the US Department of Defense and use a colored “defcon” system? Simply have the WvW Icon on the top left of everyones client change color based on the greatest level of risk an individual map is facing. It can be based upon an average assessment of user selectable submissions. To drill down further details, a player can open the WvW panel and have a visual queue of which map is at each risk level. Simply by having the map selection banners change color to match that maps risk factor.

Anet knows our world association. Thus, I don’t believe it would be terribly difficult to keep the correct players informed at all times. Visually, it would require no UI changes beyond coloring existing UI content.

Idk, since every other icon has a notification status available to them, it seems adding this would solve the problem and maintain continuity to the other icons.

Its a great idea but there is one flaw, you don’t believe it would be to terribly difficult, how terribly difficult do you think it was to add color to Comm tags ? You can expect a two year wait time for this one.

I flat out refuse to pay more for a color, its pure greed on their part, they should be handing them out for free to those that already have a tag for taking over a year to add color. In the end, this game is getting to the point of stupidity with the lack of care and attention, don’t be surprised to see dev posts a year from now stating “if we could do it again, we would listen to the community more”.

Server transfers should have never been implemented. Yes they are good for A-net’s wallet, but they are bad for overall game/RvR structure. This was obvious, and since this was never changed, this was inevitable. Since server alignment only pertains to WvWvW now, if you’re going to allow server transfers, why not make transfers cost badges or something that cannot be obtained via player mail? I may not stop the problem, but at least it would slow it down.

Most game have transfers available, players come and go and some people just don’t like being stuck on one of those servers that are in the trenches of T8. We all bought this game for entertainment, how entertaining is it to sit in the Game mode you enjoy with nothing to do ? They will never do transfers for badges, theres no profit in it for Anet, and as you can see from the recent notes for september Anet is all about the money grab. As much as people hate transfers, they are a nessasary evil imo.

I couldn’t agree more, tbh I don’t know if I would ever want to be stuck in T1 always fighting the same servers, having the chance to fight 5 different servers on a regular basis adds some variety and keeps the game from becoming stale. Sure we have things to work on but were here now and we will adapt accordingly.

You keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep better, also no transfers before season 2 ? Transfers were confirmed by your server, sure it wasn’t a bunch of guilds but don’t be so blind, you did receive some transfers.

IoJ definately, YB probably, tbh its hard to tell, were the new kid on the block so were just having a blast fighting both at once.

Better loot for coverage, have you taken into account what happens to the server that plays twice as hard but has considerably less population ? They will lose the PPT everytime even if they focus solely on defending. Your asking to slap the face of the servers that need incentive/help.

Its no different from what Anet did with the Seasons, rewarding stacked servers and laughing in the face of those forced to fight them. Now if you had said increase the loot for those losing PPT that might have made more sense because their morale won’t get trashed as quickly if they have something to look forward to.

From what I hear there’s plenty of dead time on HoD now.

I’d say we have 1 server that should be in Silver but got screwed by the Randomization component of the match up, and 2-3 servers that could move up in the near future and compete.

Great guild that knows their stuff, if your looking to escape a toxic guild or server come to DR and join HoD. Very helpful and dedicated guild, they are a strong presence on DR and are always helping the server in anyway they can. I have nothing but respect for this guild, give them a try !

I’m loving this server, together we will rise in the ranks. If your sick and tired of being stuck on toxic servers, come try DR and be part of the rise !

Perfect fit for anyone who wants to run organized and work as a team.

Great people to play with, if your looking for a guild that is willing to fight any amount of numbers and likely win then TBT is the guild for you. We are not for the thin skinned, while we do not mind training new players we have expectations that those players work with us.

Oh please, thats low besides its not how our server is , we look for the guys that want to be here not just because we approached them , all the guilds that transferred to CD wanted to be there KNOWING they will fight an uphill fights and contacted us , not just a bandwagon hoping guilds would come to enjoy thr karma trains..what we been looking for into ppl or guilds is that mentality WHEN they contact us , not the other way around.

Then advertise on the forums and stay off our servers. Have a chat with [DNA] about not making your server look bad, because that is exactly what they are accomplishing down here in lower tiers.

That is the worst logic I have ever seen, when mid range servers come to lower servers to advertise for their server it shows a complete lack of character. They know our populations are suffering and we’re in need of transfers yet they are ignorant enough to come and try and poach what we do have. Yes it is very much skin off all our backs down here. If I were to transfer I wouldn’t even consider CD after seeing them advertising on lower tiers, HoD at least shows some class in this regard.

No one is denying they have a large night crew, the SS speaks for itself. Some of us have partial night crews so would they rather join ET and have to PvD the entire season because there is very few to fight or join a server with a partial night crew and have more even numbers in that time slot ? ET would be better off getting NA time slot people tbh, I’m sure they would agree.

No this is not an insult towards ET, if you are looking for a large night crew then yes ET has the largest.

Were not trying to “steal” recruits, go to all the other servers recruitment threads we have given nothing but compliments. I just called it how I see it when we faced you, sorry if that stung a little. I hope you guys do get some transfers so next time we face you we actually have someone to fight.

I’m guessing that in addition to that, Kalkz is coming back to BP, while Goldiy, Rekz, GH, Void, FTF, etc. are all coming back to EBay, and we will all somehow meet again in T5 and be stuck fighting each other forever, just like last year?

I’m going to go ahead and say if the DB ALS transfered back we would not see you in T5, they would actually have to make an NA T9 for AR to sit in alone because our Skill would drop that much with the addition of the DB ALS.
