It was seen, and it was dealt with, that’s why it’s closed.
This might not be the world’s first.
I tested this event again today, with a new character, to make sure it wasn’t a one-off thing. All of the same glitches remain, including the fact that killing a nightmare court mob here will not get you out of a downed state.
One shot thiefs is a myth created by glassies that dont have dodge roll bound.
That’s not true. I have full berserker’s on my thief and had 15k health, and today I got killed by a single cloak and dagger backstab combo. I didn’t dodge it because I was in friendly territory in WvW and thought it would be safe to do some items research on my other monitor for a moment. Suddenly, I went from full to dead in less than a second.
I have been experiencing this issue in WvW, and it seems like a glitch to me. It usually kicks in after hours of playing, and the delay from keypress to the ability going off can be as high as 3 seconds. It is constant, not in the form of random spikes, and it persists until I restart my client. I have checked my internet connection during one of these episodes, and my internet was fine. These did not happen during the recent denial of service attacks. Last, I asked around, and other people were not experiencing lag at the same time that I was.
I really think the title speaks for itself!
Do you guys remember how, back before beta, Anet said their intention was to have profession specific tasks I.E. The elementalist would seek out a magical tome, the Necro would seek out catacombs / tombs, and so on?
What if they brought this idea back in the form of “Personal events”? Basically, it’s an event that kicks off for you alone when you are near certain points in the world, such as a grave you should pray at. You could be rewarded with tokens that are redeemable for profession specific armor and weapon skins, which is something I’ve always wanted.
They are trying to please 3 kinds of people here;
People who like cut-scenes for lore get plenty of that.
People who like to read flavor text to get lore have a ton of that, so you have nobody to blame but yourself when you skip it
And then there’s people like me who skip everything but dialog involving my character. I read my lore on wikis etc, other people don’t want any lore.
they have this option via gem store the bank express so adding another slot specifically for these reason will, most likely, not happen
I don’t know, even if it’s more expensive, I’d buy it. You see, I’d much rather buy a permanent bag slot that lets me put an 18 slot bag in that is shared between all characters, than have to expend a consumable item, spending real money every time I don’t want to go back to town. I would use those slots for things I use frequently on all characters, such as blueprints, minis, boosters…
1. A new living story thread that will revolve around an elder dragon other than zhaitan
2. New explore-able zone (Elona or Cantha, Anet please!)
3. New tier of equipment with new appearances
4. New weapon type, or ability to wield new weapons for certain professions (IE thief rifle)
5. Some mention of future expansion plans
You cannot un-do soul-binding. If you salvage the item and are lucky in saving the rune you put into it, you might be able to the sell the rune, but lose the armor. The other option would be buying that new item that removes a rune from an item. I cannot promise that the rune will not be soul-bound. I THINK it wont be soul-bound. The armor, however? That’s permanently bound. No way to un-do that, at all.
So, I’ve been trying for half an hour to complete the event "Kick the Nightmare Court out of Quandry Scratch, which takes place in the Mount Maelstrom area. There are a few issues happening here. Bear in mind that this is not a group event.
The mobs were in groups of up to 6 around each of the four Nightmare Thorn pods.
Each of those mobs had far more health than the average mob in the area
Not one mob in this area could trigger the Rally! Effect if you’re in a downed state and kill one. I tested this multiple times.
If a mob in this cave is lured to the limit of how far they will chase, they will stop at that limit, and stay there indefinitely. They will not return to their spawn point like most mobs.
The thorn pods themselves re-spawn too quickly to have all four dead at once.
If we say things that aren’t age appropriate for a 4 year old’s ears, ANet thought it’d be cute to substitute ‘kittens’ instead. Because we’re all 4, remember? And if you don’t like this feature, it’s part of the endgame, because the entire game is endgame, and if you don’t like this, feel free to leave and good riddance, and you obviously didn’t research the game well enough before you purchased it.
This is not a relevant post. If you have suggestions, refer them to the suggestions sub-forum and make them constructive, not rage-filled.
I’ve never heard this term before in any game. I did play the original guild wars, but in PvE only. Where did this term come from, and what does it mean?
Well they have seen this thread, this much I know. You see, I requested it to be moved to ‘bug reports’, and lo and behold, they did move this thread to bug reports.
I speculate they are looking into the fact that hardcore players are tired of stomping noobs, and noobs are tired of getting stomped. I’m more on the noob side, not through lack of skill but through lack of hardware capable of playing the game at more than 10-15 fps. I’m a skilled player when it works, but even with a good PC I couldn’t hang with the serious, hardcore players. They would probably need a middle-ground for those people as well. I think they should introduce a system vaguely similar to Starcraft’s league system, where players are placed within a league, can be promoted or demoted from it through lack of consistency. At first, there’s problems with any ELO or related system, which in the case of LOL is great players making new accounts just to troll. As long as the rating system is tied to your account, however, I think things will eventually even out. However, I do not think they should entirely be rid of the drop in / drop out 8v8’s, those are awesome to have when you don’t have time to dedicate to a game at a time. I just think they should ease the barriers to entry for tournament PvP, as well as introduce non tournament 5v5 that requires participation in a match from beginning to end. I believe that in those 5v5s, the matches should be longer, requiring more points.
Of course everything is counterable, but once you compare difficulty of a build, to the difficulty of the counter-build, you start to see glaring issues.
Let’s take Pistol Whip thieves since you already used them. PW stuns, and does excellent damage. They get locked into place during the animation, so dodging is a viable option – until you consider the stun. So, how do we counter this? Bring a stun-break! Oh, wait, they can use PW 3-4 times in a row. Get caught in one when the break is on CD, eat them all. Ok, so take stability! Most stability abilities last only a few seconds. A thief can dodge a few times, pop stealth, then PW spam again. Little effort on his part, but you’re required to use up multiple u-skills, having them off CD, and have to play well in order to counter it. The effort to counter it far outweighs the effort the Thief puts in for the most part. Sure, once you catch him without stealth, and you have stability, he’s probably dead, but that requires a specific set of circumstances as opposed to a specific counter-build or strategy.
Yup, that’s the definition of a face-roll. My intended message was that the game is relatively well balanced for such a new game. I too feel like playing a thief is way too easy, as I do play a point-defense lotus death blossom spam thief who is so hard to burst/kill, but so easy to play. That is what my other points were about, that in time I am sure ArenaNet will resolve these issues. Especially if they want the big E-Sports money.
Now, for the sake of bug hunting, I’m making no assumptions about you. Please understand you are probably better at this than me. Are you sure that you did not get dazed, interrupted, or somehow cancelled the animation from the trap?
19k health and 2.1k armour is pretty glassy.
This. The warrior is sacrificing all of his survivability for the sake of that damage. He would be dead in a heartbeat to a burst from another player. The only reason he has more than the 16-18k some other players will have is that warriors have the highest base health. (tied with necromancer) It’s called a glass cannon, and the best thing to do is, if you see a warrior with a 2h sword, prepare to either be very defensive, or dodge/stun-break his burst and unload on him if you, too, are a glass cannon. You see, one he uses that 100blades, all he has left is probably the burst skill from an axe, which does around 6-8k. Then he has to wait for cool-downs before he can do meaningful damage again.
Guys, I don’t think there are OP classes/tactics in this game. I will grant that some are stronger than others and harder to counter, but they ARE counter-able. There is a counter-build to every build. I remember how in the beginning of starcraft, all you needed to do was cheese to win, until people discovered how to counter it. In League of Legends, it was pick Akali or another equally OP hero and own face. In WoW a good rogue could take on multiple opponents naked .
So what happened in those games, balance wise?
1. Counters emerged. They exist, they do exist. Phantasm spamming mesmers can be countered. So can heartseeker / pistol whip / lotus death blossom spamming thieves. Of course, when you choose to get a build that counters them, that opens up people of other professions to counter you. That, my friends, is the rock-paper-scissors nature of a good, well balanced team game.
2. Balance happened gradually . No developer can watch a video of a thief taking on multiple opponents at once and declare “This is Op. Let’s nerf it.” Seriously. There are multiple factors. Do they all have builds that are countered by his build? Does his skill far surpass their skill? Is this a thing that is happening constantly to all players, or mostly to un-skilled players? If we nerf this, how will it affect WvWvW, or PvE? It’s not time yet to desperately start pressing the panic nerf button. Expect it to take time for balance to kick in, because…
3. Rushed nerfs/buffs cause MORE imbalance. If you want a balanced game, be patient. If they start making changes before carefully tweaking those changes in a controlled testing environment, you’d bet there will be an ever increasing list of imbalances in one of the three game modes.
LoL players, think of all the champions that will completely decimate a noob, but are considered un-viable in high level team play. That’s because with a new champion every month or so, and constant changes to balance, a lot of champions get left in the dust by all the champions that just do all the same things better, or more safely.
WoW players, think of how long it took for rogues to stop being OP. Then it was Warlocks. Then it was Paladins. Then Hunters. If a game is balanced well, every profession should feel like they are OP, until they get beat, then they cry about the other profession being OP.
High level Starcraft players, does a cannon rush, or a 6 pool, still feel OP to you? I see a lot of Starcraft players adapting to a “Safe” Opener that can stop a cheese (if you scout properly) and transition into a play-style that is typically balanced around timing pushes, map control, and generally mid-game play.
I invite you to discuss these thoughts.
[LFG] [Ehmry Bay] [Casual TPvP] Thief and Mesmer looking for casual TPvP guild.

Posted by: Hildebrandyr.5820
Hello,
My account name is Hildebrandyr.5820, and I’m a SPvP player on Ehmry Bay who is looking to get into tournament PvP, and is searching for a good guild to do so. I am currently level 5, and somewhat knowledgeable about tactics and builds. With my thief, I use a point defending or roaming dual dagger spec that can stack 25 bleed fast and survive for an incredibly long time. With my Mesmer I play with a tanky phantasm build. I’m open to fulfilling any role in a team that’s needed of me. I occasionally play a bursty greatsword/axe-shield warrior, and enjoy that as well. If interested, feel free to message me.
