So YB decided to wake up a little early today to ‘test’ out this CD Night Crew and find out whether it was a zerg or an organised fighting unit. As we thought/hoped they really are not very good. I guess PvD week after week is not very good practice.
Anyone else run into the thief from YB in the DISC guild that was seemingly impossible to kill and easily dispatched the tutorial guy in the middle of the CD keep while players tried to attack him? Somehow managed to continually disappear after being immobilized and updrafted as well.
If that is skill, I hope that player is recording it via fraps and posts it.
We’ve been trying to address this from YB’s side, but nobody knows anyone in the DISC guild. We would appreciate it if you could report this player as quickly as possible so he doesn’t continue to muddy our reputation.

As far as exploits go this one’s pretty tame though right? I mean, what can he really do there besides kill an afk person or two? I realize that’s not the point but if this is the worst thing that happens during our matchup I think we should all consider ourselves lucky.
We can’t really say that we have a zero tolerance position on hacks and exploits if we start equivocating. I appreciate that it is a relatively tame exploit but, to me personally, it is more important to maintain standards within our server and thereby maintain our reputation with our opponents.
That way, the next time an issue like this comes up, we can expect to receive the benefit of the doubt and our opponents can rest assured that we will take care of it, instead of using it as a rallying point against us. (So it is not entirely an altruistic position to take, but in fact quite self-interested).

I’m all for targeting Kaineng next week for what good it will do. The YB alliance are against two servers officially ganging up on a third but I’m sure we will have a lot of rank & file members who would be happy to try & put a dent in Kaineng as they sail up the tiers.
I don’t speak for the server, but the Yak’s Bend policy is to not join in cross server alliances, no matter how bad it gets. It creates a lot of bad blood when we have to turn on our allies.
That said, I would never think to tell another player who is not in my squad what to do with their time in WvW.

All the Mag zergball /sits, /laughs and corpse jumping like it’s a huge achievement to roll 20-40 people over 3 or less is rather amusing though I have to admit.
This hasn’t happened to me all week.
I can’t speak for your experience, but it doesn’t help our public image to accuse people of corpse dancing, etc. It smells of sour grapes.

This week will provide us with a lot of training on how to coordinate defense when outnumbered. I guess we need to look on the positive side of this situation.
Next week’s not looking any better. After that I hope that Yak’s can settle back in and have some fun.
I’m not complaining, but this week has just not been any fun at all. I don’t expect anything to be handed to me, but this just feels like it’s too much. I don’t even feel like playing WvW at this point.

I have a question as to why this posting was moved from the WvW forum to the “Linksville” forum:
Was it not a “Linksville” posting for the first 26 days, or were the moderators of WvW wrong for 26 days?

If it was a “Linksville” posting, why did the moderators miss it for 26 days?
I understand that you have to keep the forums cleaned up, but doing it so long after it was originally posted makes me question the decision making process behind it.
This video is not showing off a “Guild Wars 2 related websites, tools, videos and other resources around the internet”. It is talking about a community that is WvW oriented. Using this resource as a tool to draw people into our community through the WvW forum seems entirely legitimate to me.
If I understand the logic behind the decision to move this post, then the WvW moderators should also be moving every post that links to a server website.
Very good and quallity server yaks, I left about a month ago because of bad opponents, I might come back, starting to miss familly, friends and organization.
Good luck on recruiting, best match we had was TC/CD/YB.
TC/CD/YB was really a great week. That was when we really started to gel as server alliance.

EB: I’m sure we’ll see you again. You kept us from being complacent. I had my first real 1v1 victory against one of you guys this week. It was epic and lasted a couple of minutes at least. You never forget your first time.

You see all these nice posts about “close community”, “great place to be”, “join us in our efforts”. Tons of sugarcoating for a simple message:
“We win in WvW by outnumbering the opponent. Join us so our advantage gets even bigger.”
……
Now, it would be bearable if people were actually honest and straight out admitted that they are in for the win, and will do whatever it takes
Not everybody is in it strictly for the win. We’re looking to have fun. While winning is fun, so is camaraderie and finding a group of people that you like to share your hobby.

However, all the sugary “community” sales pitch sounds exactly like that: The attempt by some win-hungry players to dress their selfishness into words that will attract others to ensure their own easy victory without having to fight.

It is a combination. Everybody wants to win. Otherwise, why would they play? But if you can’t win every time , at least you can have fun doing it.
Also, I think most of us know that numbers do not always mean victory. However, attracting as wide a player base as possible makes for more diversity. That diversity means that our commanders don’t have to be up all night fighting off Oceanic servers. Being able to grab a full night of sleep during flu season is not being “win-hungry”, it’s just smart leadership, and a good long-term strategy.

With paid server transfers fast approaching, it only makes sense to settle into a community that not only will you will genuinely enjoy, but will welcome you with open arms.
We recently brought on board a couple of very large Latin-American guilds. Our server leadership made the extra effort to welcome them, creating Spanish language channels in VOIP server, for instance. I’m sure that they would also put in the extra effort for any community that transferred from the Oceanic time zones.
Really, the level of acceptance and community support that you can expect on Yak’s Bend is remarkable. I’ve been there for three months now and would never consider playing anywhere else.
Conversely, a warrior from WAR and I fought in water and out for like 5 minutes….This guy, though, gave me a /salute. It’s the same thing I would have done, and have done in the past, on good fights. On slaughters, I just roll on, because the other guy is probably already kicking himself in the teeth and having been there, don’t care to pile on top. It’s just not cool, imo.
Glad to see my guildies playing with class. Sorry about the CL acting poorly. The server leadership tries to instill a sense of fair play, both by example and in our forums. CL is a Chilean guild and, although we value their contribution highly, not everything translates/ filters to all of our players.

So apparently a group of Yaks are currently hanging out in EB Greenvale abusing a bug that lets them stay invulnerable. Stay classy.
Kind of like this?
This was at the hill southwest of Bluevale. At least 10 Maguma (only two visible in this pic) sitting in a position that was bugged out, making them invulnerable.
They were well in range, and I was tossing grenades like crazy, all of them with the same result.
Luckily we already had the south of the camp seiged up, so they couldn’t do anything.
I just thought it was a kind of lazy way to play.
Then I looked at the score and I stopped caring.

YB is the place to be. We’ve run up against some great servers (FA and TC come to mind), and learned a lot from them.
The server’s alliance is well organized, and the officers are great – focused enough that we don’t all run around like head-cut chickens, but cool enough that you’ll want to keep coming back to help out. Great balance of game skills and people skills.
Solid mumble channels and organized operations. When you log off of YB WvW at the end of the night, you actually feel like you did something.

I have to throw in for Yak’s Bend. A lot of the other realms mentioned here are excellent in their own right, don’t get me wrong.
Yak’s Bend has a great mix of light-hearted attitude and solid team work. Our mumble and realm website is very well coordinated, so you’ll never be left hanging for long.
The leadership is constantly trying to improve and we are always working on new tactics.
We are all over 25 years old, so a mature community is preferred.
Yak’s Bend. We might have a silly name but the community is, on the whole, mature. I originally joined YB because it was being talked about as the unofficial server for older players. One of the biggest guilds on YB is The Older Gamers (TOG), who require members to be over 25 years.
We are currently a solid tier 4 server that likes a good fight. Inter-guild communication appears to be organised, ego-free and small-guild-friendly, and map/team chat very rarely has toxic attitudes. More info at www.yaksbend.com
This. Mumble chat is excellent and guilds are coordinated. Good commanders and an overall excellent community. Egos and negativity are at a minimum. We aren’t top tier, but we get better consistently.
Assuming ET stays around 85/cycle, which is reasonable, FA would have to hold at 475/cycle until reset, and keep YB down to 140/cycle, which is not reasonable.
Thank you, FA, for fighting like champions. You taught us a great deal about using Mesmer Bombs, and your coordination was excellent. I hope to fight you again soon.

Just logged off for the night. Too lazy to take the usual screenshots for score updates. FA is leading in potential points. Yaks are still 52k ahead in the overall score. It’s been an interesting evening in Yaks BL. They had trebs set up at garrison to hit the west keep which FA owned. Wall kept coming down with some Yaks coming in only to get killed and not make it very far in. When I left, GODS took east keep and went to try for garrison, but it was too well defended.
Your tactics and speed were great last night. The feints from the East and West kept us on edge for a couple of hours. One of our commanders commented, “I feel like I’m waiting for Hurricane Sandy”. We kept sending out scouts to try and spot zergs, and it was definitely a challenge to keep up with your mobility.

We have deemed the formation The Lucky Talon. We would have had more but the game wouldn’t allow any more to be laid down. The inner keep looked the same, it’s a shame we had to log before we could use the stuff on the inner. This has been one of the much better matches, thank you YB and especially FA for not giving up.
You should have heard the Mumble chat when we first saw this. We almost pooped ourselves. Great use of seige. slow clap AB was a lot of fun last night.

Hey everybody, just wanted to say thank you to all the people who in the last page or so who have kept their comments positive. This thread was a downer, but it feels like people are working to make it better.
