The game is to alt unfriendly, I would like to be able to swap between different classes w/o being punished for having no rank levels on an alt.
Wouldn’t this promote activate strategies, where a lack of class roles can be filled, more mesmars/thieves/guardians where needed?
WvW ranks should be equal to all toons on an account, each can play different roles with the rank points… This will great incentive for the upcoming WvWvW season start.
Yes, they should do this. A lot of people have been asking for it for a while now. So far they have said no, and given very unconvincing reasons for why not.
The current system heavily discourages playing alts. It’s also a lot harder/longer to level up an alt on low ranked servers who don’t field 24/7 wxp/karma trains.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a cap put on the total amount of APs one can get from dailies. Either a monthly or yearly cap would be fine with me. I feel like there’s far too much emphasis on daily APs and that they trivialize a lot of other APs in the game. It makes a player’s total AP even more meaningless.
4 days of doing all of the daily APs > 250k kills in WvW. Good job Anet.
We will be adding more liquid WXP that will be purchasable, likely with badges and some other currency, soon. As in, less than a month. I’ve made it a personal goal to improve the experience for playing alts in WvW. And to cut it off now, we are not making WvW rank account bound.
More/faster ways of gaining Wxp and ability points is always good.
Unfortunately, it will all be going to my main WvW character while my alts sit on the sideline. You know what would improve my WvW experience and encourage me to play alts? Account bound Wxp and ability points.
We will not be changing WvW ranks or WxP to be account bound.
This is a terrible decision. I’m really disappointed in ArenaNet. I have many alts which see very little play time in WvW because it’s just not worth redoing all the work to get them on par with my main wvw character.
I had hoped to see a system with an account wide rank that allowed every alt to use the total ability points gained in whatever lines they wanted. This would have allowed people to specialize alts without discounting the time players have already invested in WvW. It would encourage players to play other alts/classes and use other WvW abilities.
As long as ArenaNet keeps this stance on WvW ranks and ability points I’ll just continue to play only one character in WvW. I would definitely enjoy WvW more, and feel less burnt out at times, if it was more alt friendly.
wait…let’s look at the quote: “If possible, weapons and armor of exotic rarity will fill this box before other empty spaces.”
So you’re saying yes, exotics will fill this bag first if I happen to get a drop, but it doesn’t prevent non-exotics from filling it up? If so…..that’s a really lame bag.
The box is not bugged. The description does not say exotics will fill the box before anything else. It says that if there is room in the box, exotics will be placed there rather than in other open spots in your inventory.
This box comes in very handy. I have it in my last bag slot and any time I pick up an exotic, or go from two single-handed weapons to a two-haned one, they end up in it. It keeps my exotics from getting mixed in with trash loot I pick up.
The Destroyer weapons lack unique icons and use the generic ones. At least the greatsword and hammer do so I assume the others are the same.
Considering how Reckless Dodge can effect it, I’m inclined to believe other factors are at play.
I run Arah daily and always draw the aggro for the 3rd stage. If it was a matter of simply positioning yourself at the proper distance from the edge I’m sure I would have done it by now.
It has nothing to do with roll traits and everything to do with positioning.
Graphic explanation: http://i.imgur.com/gKcdk.jpg
I do not believe this is the case.
Perhaps a video showing this, and knowing what traits are being used, would be helpful. I just attempted to dodge out of the bubble about 15 times from the place you indicated and from every postion from the center to the edge, and I was unable to. I am playing a Norn guardian.
Traits also effect it a lot. The warrior dropped his reckless dodge trait on the last run and was unable to dodge out. He has never had an issue dodging out of the bubble with that trait active.
Also, that reckless dodge trait allows for him to roll out of the banner/ring the risen sentinals? place. Without it he gets knocked down.
Tested this few times. Without Reckless Dodge bubble just pulls you back in. Probably all on-dodge traits work similarly.
Thank you. That helps clear things up.
I should have clarified that I play a Norn Guardian. I usually get hit with 90% of the bubbles each time I fight him, and while they are easy enough to deal with, I always found it odd that the warrior in our group could just dodge out without using any other skill.
I’ll have to try it out with a couple other characters and see if their dodge related traits effect it.
from what I understand, warriors are able to dodge out of it b/c of their dodge trait.
Do you happen to know the trait name? I’ll have to give it a look.
Stun breakers also work. Blink will save you, and Decoy can be used to clear the CC, but you need to dodge immediately after using the stunbreaker or suffer CC again.
I am aware of all of this. The thread is about simply dodging out of the bubble after it has been placed on you. Which apparently can be done, but I have yet to be able to do.
Have others successfully dodged out after the bubble was placed?
He is an asuran warrior but did not need to use stability to get out of it, just dodge. I will try to test this some more with him today if I get the chance, but last time I tried to replicate what he could do I was unsuccessful. This is why I was wondering if it had to do with character size, race, or dodge animation.
I have been able to dodge to avoid the bubble, but I’m talking about dodging out of the bubble once it has been placed on you. For some reason I have been unable to do this while another member of our party does it at will, with his asuran.
So far, as a large Norn character, I’ve been unable to dodge out of Lupicus’s bubble attack in stage three. I’ve tried dodging from nearly every place within the bubble, and at different times. An Asuran, who I normally do dungeons with, can dodge out of the bubble everytime.
I have a suspicion that character size, or dodge animation, play a part in the ability to dodge out of the bubble attack. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this and confirm or deny my supicion. I might have to try running it with a couple of my other characters.
The attack is easy enough to manage without being able to dodge out, but I want to know if only certain races are able to do it. It has been bothering me for a while.
Quite a few exotic weapons lack unique icons. I believe the Destroyer weapons are an example. It would be nice to have that addressed. It really only becomes an annoyance when I’m swapping out weapons and have to take the time to hover over them to find out which one I want.
The AOE circles are the end spot of a lot of projectiles he launches. They will hit you if you are inside the circles and also if you are in their trajectory, so the easiest way to avoid them is moving further away.
Wall of Reflection eases it a lot on a Guardian, so using the reflective bubble the mesmer has as soon as the circles appear could do wonders.Since I never use WoR during lupi fight, can it stop the aoe (because I know it can stop his single projectiles) and if yes, do you have to stay precisily at the location of WoR?
Yes, it can stop his aoe attack, but you need to watch where you stand after throwing it down. Once I drop WoR I stand almost inside of it because if you stand too far back the ones that go over the wall and land behind can hit you. Also, Shield of Absorption and Shield of the Avenger might be worth trying out. Both can help block his attacks.
Also, using WoR on his rapid fire attack in stage three is pretty fun and does a lot of damage.
His aoe attack in stage 2 comes in at an angle so if you’re standing infront of the red circle you can still be hit by it.
I run all three paths of CoF almost daily. I do not believe it needs to be nerfed at all and it’s far from the hardest dungeon path out there.
The torch part in the beginning can be tough if you have a lot of fragile players or people who do not listen to instructions. I’ve completed this stage in less than 5 minutes before and have also taken around 30 minutes other times. The more randoms, or players new to the path, in the party the harder it tends to be.
The method I use, and have found to be the easiest, is to have everyone at their torches, kill all but one of the three mobs nearest, say, “1” in chat when one is left, have everyone kill after five 1s, and then once everyone has killed their last mob and types r in chat we say, “Go” and everyone lights. When doing this path, with players I normally play with, we usually get it done in one to three tries. When I’m doing it with randoms it typically takes longer and we usually have to shift people around until we have everyone at one they can handle.
If one or two players are having trouble it usually works best to place them on the easier torches. The double one makes it easy for someone to help one of them out. One torch, I think the one right at the start, can be done without drawing any agro most of the time.
I’ve never had any real trouble on the capture part with the waves. Sometimes a player or two die but the waypoint isn’t very far away and they can usually get back pretty fast. I don’t think this stage is any harder than the bomb room in path 2. My advice would be to make sure you and your party members are making full use of cc skills and combos off each other, and call targets. Reflect walls/bubbles and smoke screens can also be helpful.
I would like to see more done with the final boss of path 3 though. He’s a little on the boring side. It’s always funny when someone gets blasted off into the lava and we always give each other a hard time, but his few attacks get very repetitive. I’d like to see his health decreased and his damage increased and give him some sort of aoe skill that rains down and possibly does knockback. Maybe even shrink the platform a little or make it so you drop down onto it so you can’t fight from the bridge. As is, the fight seems too long for the repetitive moves the boss does.
ArenaNet needs to introduce recipes for creating copper, silver, and even platinum doubloons. There’s already one for gold doubloons. I don’t see why the others were not included.
With barely enough on the TP (and at crazy prices) for one person in the whole game to buy and make the Vial of Quicksilver, something needs to change.
I don’t believe that one should be able to create doubloons via crafting, as doubloons (and all Rare crafting materials) are obtained from drops only. However, I DO agree that we should be able to transmorgrify Copper Doubloons into Silvers, the same way we can upgrade Silvers to Golds, and Golds to Platinums. Copper Doubloons are a quest reward for Personal Stories, so this should help ease the shortfall.
Alternatively, the Gift of Quicksilver should be modified so it requires 150 Platinum Doubloons (to match the 150 Molten Lodestones) instead. If ANet deems that still too cheap for a Legendary Gift, change the 250 Steel Ingots to 250 Mithril Ingots as well.
When I said recipe I was thinking Transmogrify not actually making them from raw materials. I suppose copper ones wouldn’t apply.
Unless I’ve missed it, I didn’t think it was possible to transmogrify gold to platinum doubloons. Which makes it even more odd that silver to gold is the only possible one.
No it didn’t. He just ran to the spot without triggering any of that.
We never failed or got to do the event. The icon just failed to spawn over his head and give us the oportunity to start the event.
First time it has happened to me. I didn’t notice anything different that would have caused it.
This is the first time this had happened to me so I don’t know if it came with the new patch or if it has been around.
On CoF path 2 we got stuck at the part where you run the bombs back to Magg. We were unable to talk to him to initiate the event.
I don’t think we did anything out of the ordinary from normal runs, and Magg was in the spot he usually is where you start the event.

Path 1 is the shortest and quickest out of the three. With a solid group the first part can be completed without much trouble. I don’t think I’d like to see it made any easier. It’s already one of the shortest dungeon paths in the game.
I would like to see the waves stop spawning after you reach the second boss though. Running past him and fighing him on the far side of his platform to avoid endless mobs seems a little dumb.
While I do agree that it needs to be fixed, you do not need 5 warriors in full berserker gear to do it currently. I completed this with a guardian, warrior, ele, necro, and a thief a few days ago.
In my opinion, they just need to make the mobs stop spawning once you reach the boss on the platform. Currently, if you don’t pull the boss to the far end of his platform and fight him there, mobs will stack up on you and make it very difficult to kill the boss.
You finished path 2 without any problems? really We wiped several times yesterday (pre-patch) and gave up on it. I can imagine a very skilled organised group finishing it, but without a problem? One hit by the static field and you were pretty much dead. That one golem was almost comparable to the fire-elemental O.o
Was this a stealth fix maybe?
Possibly. They didn’t seem to hit hard at all and I was constantly moving through them. I don’t think anyone was ever downed.
I can’t remember what the fire-elemental is that you’re refering to.
I just completed all three paths a couple hours ago so the dungeon is definitely doable. I ran it with 3 people I normally do dungeons with and one random. None of us had done this dungeon before today and it was the last one I needed for Dungeon Master.
The beginning of path one is pretty annoying though and I think it should be adjusted more. We fought our way to the golem and killed him without much trouble but we wiped right after because most couldn’t recover in time to fight off the extra groups that had built up. We respawned, let the mass of guys go by, and then hacked our way to the next boss without much trouble. We wiped at the boss because we didn’t realize the mobs would continue to spawn at the platform while fighting him (This should probably be changed). We respawned again, fought back to the boss, and this time engaged him on the other side of the platform so we didn’t agro anymore groups. After that we didn’t have much of a problem.
We completed path 2 without any real problems so I’m not sure what issue others were having there. It took us a minute at the last boss to figure out what to do but it was very manageable after that.

[exploit] Mesmer phantasmal warden + graveling breeder = loads of minions
Posted by: Icecreaman.5072
I wouldn’t call this an exploit. I do this all the time with my guardian and the wall of reflection skill. For whatever reason, they count as a projectile. If the wall is placed close enough to the breeder they bounce off and become friendly.
The hatchlings don’t move far and disappear fairly quick. It is funny to see an army of hatchlings though.
Guys, i only can say 1 thing.
Yesterday i was make Arah 3rd way. We’ve needed 8 REAL HOURS to finish it, and more than 1 gold in repairs.
The reward? 60 Badgets and 20-30 silver
Wanna repeat to earn the Armor Set and get 20 Badgets for the 2nd try?PS: Say whatever you want, but this game need a Tank and Healer.
I’m sorry, but 8 hours and 1g in repairs? It sounds like your party wasn’t very prepared and probably didn’t communicate or work together well.
I don’t think it’s fare to say this game needs a tank and healer just because your group really struggled. There are plenty of groups out there that have been clearing Arah in decent time and with few deaths without dedicated Tanks and Healers.
When I’m with a group where everyone knows what they’re doing, path 3 usually takes around an hour with only a few deaths amoung the group. If people take the time to make sure they are well equiped and understand all of the encounters things become much easier.
With regards to balancing, I think the dungeon difficulty is fine. I would like to see a few things even out though. Arah path 2 comes to mind (I think that’s the Murssat one). Lupicus can be a challenge but a good group will take him down in one go without much of a problem. In comparison, the final boss is a joke. He goes down very quickly and requires little effort.
I don’t want to see Lupicus get easier but I wouldn’t mind seeing boss encounters be a little more consistent across the board. Average completion time for the different Arah paths also seems to differ a lot. Not because of difficulty but because the objectives in some are so spread out compared to others. Maybe that’s something that needs to be tweaked.

I think what you’re looking for is the Barbaric armor. You can craft it or buy it off the TP.
They have been working fine for me.
Shorty after the patch was implemented I transmutated 3 exotic armor pieces, that I had been wearing, without any problems.
I’ve had a similar problem to most of you.
On Wed the 19th I attempted to buy 1000 Gems, which at the time cost around 3 gold 60 silver. I got an error message that said the transaction failed and no gold was taken.
When I logged into the game the next day (Thursday 20th) The gold was missing from my character but no Gems had been given.
Unfortunatly, this is the reply I got from support, “The Guild Wars 2 Support Team is unable to restore missing characters, items, or gold. I understand this may be frustrating, but we simply do not have the capabilities to do this.”
