O wow, sorry, I left this for a couple days while i had other stuff, so I’ll read through and answer as appropriate!
We’re focused on GoM or HoD right now. I had a chat with someone on SoS, and she said that GoM (who’s paired with SoS) is doing very well, but I have heard the same of HoD. HoD has a slight edge for us since it was my first server way back at prelaunch. I’ve heard that HoD may have the best time coverage, and since my WvW time is pretty much “whenever I feel like it” rather than any set time, it sounds preferable.
I do have friends on NA servers, so I don’t want to leave there completely. There’s just a select few that are either very AR-loyal or just don’t care enough to switch.
I really appreciate all your feedback, thank you all! HoD is looking to be our place to switch, with GoM as a close second.
You’re really making HoD sound like the place for us to go! A zerg to pug with, throughout many different timezones, with good coverage, sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks! I’ll get the dude to update his game so he’s ready for the swap, and we’ll probably move over there in the next couple of days.
I’m sure AR is still full of friendly people, there’s just a few there we’d rather get away from. :P By potato farming, do you mean like… the nodes or players
I know “aqui”, that is enough spanish, yes? ;D
Hmm, I’ll wait to hear on the status of HoD then. Wednesday isn’t exactly the best day to buy gems with gold anyway. Honestly I just really want a steady server where I can follow the zerg and work on some WvW reward tracks.
I have a guardian/DH that I’d probably be bringing around, not sure what he’d bring.
I honestly have no idea what KOTA stacking is, I don’t wvw often. :P I will need to soon to finish a reward track, but otherwise, it’s just kind of… Popping in there when I have nothing left to do. We may also be flying solo, guild-wise, for a while, so zergs that anyone can join without being pressured to be in a guild are nice!
Still leaning toward CD, but HoD is a good friendly, casual-friendly place with a good amount of action, too? How are queues in either of these servers? Since I do prefer to go in at random, I’m not sure I’d honestly have the patience to wait to get onto a map.
We just want to get away from our old server and into something new. We want a medium population server, so we can actually afford the switch. Looking for a friendly server that’s good for a casual WvWer to pop in and follow a commander for a while, without needing to join a WvW-focused guild. Decent activity with no/low queues would be awesome. We’re leaving Anvil Rock, and considering Crystal Desert. Does this sound like a good fit? Any other suggestions?
Remaining on AR is not an option, neither of us has any interest whatsoever in staying here. That means we’d also prefer a server that isn’t frequently paired with AR.
For reference, these are the servers currently listed as medium population:
Ferguson’s Crossing, Devona’s Rest, Kaineng, Darkhaven, Eredon Terrace, Ehmry Bay, Borlis Pass, Sorrow’s Furnace, Isle of Janthir, Crystal Desert, Sanctum of Rall, Henge of Denravi, Gate of Madness.
High servers, in case they dip down at night (I think I read that pop is based on number online, not on server?): Dragonbrand, Fort Aspenwood, Northern Shiverpeaks, Stormbluff Isle.
(NA by the way)
EDIT: I don’t mean to dissuade anyone from staying on or moving to Anvil Rock! Our reasons for leaving are entirely personal and have nothing to do with the server as a whole.

I primarily pve – mostly fractals and dungeons, so a lot of my class/spec feedback will be from that perspective.
Power Revenant is fantastic. The Destruction trait line is great. I had a hard time choosing traits because I wanted them all. I kept coming back to revenant while I was trying out other classes because I didn’t want to give it up, and I’m sure I annoyed my friends with the number of times I told them how much I love it.
Dragonhunter was fun. I like the option of having a longbow, but I wanted to swap the traps back out for meditations for solo play. I can’t speak for dungeon play, because I don’t normally take a guardian anyway. Traps look like they could be a lot of fun on a melee guardian in open world/solo play.
Reaper is great. Once again, I wasn’t a fan of the utilities (I ended up swapping them out for traited wells). I really enjoyed using the Reaper death shroud and made my build around that, and can’t imagine playing a power necro or death shroud build without it now.
I didn’t enjoy the Chronomancer wells, so I swapped them back out for my usual skills. I tried my usual power but ended up with a condi shatter build that I REALLY enjoyed in pvp. I can’t wait for release so I can use the build on my pvp mesmer! I ended up using all 3 traits in the second slot and loved them all.
Tempest offers some great new things for people with different playstyles. I main ele, and can see myself switching to Tempest at least once in awhile. The earth shout that grants a reflective aura is going to be incredibly useful. Fire overcharge looks very useful for stacking might before or during a fight. I’ll probably use the elite when the glyph and FGS aren’t viable. For the most part, I’ll probably stick to Ice Bow, Glyph of Storms and Arcane Shield in my utilities. I’d love to use the healing shout in certain fractals and dungeons, and the earth shout is going to be fantastic in places where we need extra reflects. I didn’t spend enough time with a warhorn to take notes.
All the Itzel stuff is beautiful, and I camped out at their lantern cave whenever I wanted a break. I love their camp, the music, and their cave.
The enemies were pretty difficult. I died a lot while trying the new specs and Revenant, but it may have been because I just wasn’t used to them yet. I was fine on my ele. Night did feel different from day. At one point, I was trying to get to a mastery point with a friend, and died repeatedly on the way there because of the number of mordrem and my tendency to ignore enemies while running through the open world. That’s not something I can do in Verdant Brink, especially at night, which is probably for the better! I liked when the enemies talked to each other, like the particular enemy type that calls out that he’ll pin me down for the other one to take out. The enemies all look super cool. The creatures that require you to be in front of or behind them to damage them are fun! I do feel the need to use much more of my skill bar with the Mordrem than with the average enemies in open world, and even in some dungeons and fractals. I definitely had a way harder time with them alone than when I was with my friends. Thankfully, I spent most of my time in Verdant Brink with two friends.
I love hearing all the races’ voices in the story! Female asura is wonderful, as always. Female norn, while not my favorite in the core game, sounded great in HoT. Something about the female charr voice (which is my favorite in the core game) sounded different and I wasn’t super fond of that.
Wyvern crashed my game when it spawned after planting the eggs in the camp. By the time I was able to load back in, it was over. I did send a crash report.
Glider was really fun, and super useful. It only took a few minutes to get used to using it effectively again. Bouncy mushrooms make a huge difference. When we were collecting wyvern eggs for the Nuhoch (I think it was Utogi?), it felt almost essential to have bouncy mushrooms and glider to do the event efficiently. At one point, my friend had bouncy mushrooms before I did, and I couldn’t find another way up so she had to portal another friend and me up to where she was. Because I spent a lot more time testing out specializations and different builds for them (first going all-in, then seeing how they would affect my usual builds), I didn’t actually do a ton of events, so I can’t speak for how quickly I progressed through them.
I spent a few minutes in one of the maps with rewards, and hovering over what each map had to offer. As someone who loves to craft legendaries, I love seeing that there will be a map for me to focus on depending on which materials I need.
Overall, I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait for it to go live!
These changes look like fantastic improvements and I can’t wait to test them in the next beta. It felt just a liiiittle too weak before, but hopefully this brings them up to par with other classes.
I want Caithe’s face soooo bad, she’s so pretty. I also love Kasmeer’s! And pretty much all of the unavailable Sylvari armor.
REQUEST
Rise Against – Swing Life Away
I have a Lute and a Harp. If any of these would do much, much better on a different instrument, I can drop the gold on buying a new one.
I don’t understand how to read or play music in real life. Here are tabs
Anyone out there able to help me learn how I could play these in game, please? I’d be happy with any Rise Against or Bad Religion songs, really, if anyone is willing to do them. I’m not super talented, though, so I will probably only be able to play the slower ones.
Bad Religion:
American Jesus
Sorrow
I was only a few wins away from rank 30 the weekend before they removed it. Then my internet died for the rest of weekend, and when I came back, it was gone.
I adore the tribal gloves, though. I’m happy to see it’ll return eventually, but I agree that HoT would be a good time and place to do it!
I love this idea, especially if it’s possible to tell you the crafting levels of your inactive crafts.
I got this bug, too. My husband opened all of our story steps. He unlocked the traits and I didn’t. I did progress with him through each story step.
^O yes, seconding that request for Only Time by Enya.
I’m stuck on 22/24 myself.
Some were saying that it may be because they did a couple obelisk shards before yesterday’s bug fixing patch. I’m pretty sure I only did two, then logged off for awhile to wait for a finished guide to find the rest, then finished the others after the patch. I’m positive I did all 24.
There’s an explanation on this here:

I hope they DON’T change it back, actually. I have a mix of cultural armors on my ranger, and I was really disappointed with the way my Nightshade pieces (t2) dyed. Nothing every looked right, but I kept them because I loved the shape. Now I can be happy with shape AND color. Just play around with the dyes, you’ll find a nice new combo quickly enough. My t1/Evergreen pieces appear unchanged.

I actually really like that the Komalie’s dagger doesn’t have particle effects. I think it would ruin it. It has a simple but elegant design, and that’s great for the people who DON’T like super flashy. Anton’s could MAYBE have used some kind of particle effect since its general shape isn’t as interesting, but certainly not Komalie’s.
(edited by Illharess.6509)
I disagree completely. Komalie’s Sacrificial Blade is stunning – it’s the most beautiful dagger skin in the game, in my opinion. I’ve been tracking it desperately, hoping to find out what drops it so I can farm it. Not all weapons need particle effects to be beautiful, and I think this dagger is a perfect example of that.
Though I will agree that Anton’s blade isn’t very exciting.
Supply/demand.
Less people are buying gems after Anet screwed over many players.
I think it’s more likely that gems are in high demand because of the makeover kits, holidays and events.
I’d love this, character-bound or otherwise.
How quickly would a player need to complete the captcha? What if someone is afk? What if someone is too busy in combat to complete a captcha? It’s good in theory, but it would cause problems for real players.
I’ve been switching between my Fern Wolf and Brown Bear a lot today, and they both still hold their names.
Unless you mean completely changing your two active pets. I do wish that if, say, I replaced my fern wolf with a lynx, then the last name I used on the lynx would still be there.
No.
We don’t need mounts. If you want a speed increase, use the one you have for your profession. Most, if not all, of them have at least a small increase.
If it’s just to look “cool,” then you can use transmutation stones and your favorite skins to accomplish this. We don’t need mounts in Guild Wars 2.
I often target the rarely-killed enemies just for the bonus experience. It would be great if there was even more incentive. I fully support this.
I don’t like this idea at all. There already isn’t a whole lot of incentive to kill regular enemies because they don’t give very much experience, and most of the time, you can just outrun them. Veterans and champions aren’t terribly common. I don’t want to have to rely on them to get decent drops.
There are so many other amazing things they could improve in Guild Wars 2, or things they could add. Limiting play time should fall on the player, not the developers.
This is a neat idea. My favorite character’s weapons clip pretty badly into her armor, so it would be nice if they were only visible when she pulled them out.
Server: Henge of Denravi
Map: Mount Maelstrom, Tzanopl Grounds PoI
NPC: Petil
Missing NPC, though the taunt dialogue is still there.
I’d love this! My sylvari guardian looks like a bit of a kitten… Until she idles. Her idling does not fit with the rest of her look at all.
And my human engineer brushes her back – but she has a mohawk. There isn’t hair anywhere near the side of her face that she needs to brush away.
EDIT: Okay, the hair thing might be norn… But considering my norn is wearing a bandanna, it still doesn’t fit.

I really like this idea. I’ve been bouncing between a lot of different characters, so I haven’t made it to 80 yet, but I hate the thought of dungeon grind in order to get decent rewards. I prefer to wander and explore (hence the bouncing-between-alts thing). Anything that lessens the grind gets a thumbs up from me.
Modern lol have you seen the current dance are you saying the human dance isnt modern llol
That’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying I’d rather see more dances that aren’t modern if new ones are going to be added.
This is what my guardian, Lyric, will look like at level 80. I LOOOVE Sylvari heavy cultural armor so much.
Please no. If additional dances are going to be for sale in the gem shop, I’d rather they be something that isn’t so modern.
